My chest rises up and down with each breath. The constant sound of beeping somes from the heart monitor next to me. I lay in the same hospital bed I have for the last three months. The doctors and my friends have done all they could for me, but it is simply my time to go.
My friends are sad, and rightly so, I suppose. Me, all I can think of in these last moments are all my memories of my friends. The smiles, the laughter. All the adventures we had. It’s hard to imagine life without you guys, but we all have to move on sooner or later, right?
My mind drifts away, reliving all the good times we’ve had...
Applejack. You were always ready and willing to lend me a hoof, even if you were busy with your work on the farm. I could always go to you with any problem I had, knowing that you would keep any secret I told you, being the element of Honesty and all.
You were the one I went to first, when I needed to talk to somepony. I knew that you would give me your honest opinion on things, and that you would be blunt and direct. I always liked that about you.
You were also the first one I told about my secret feelings for my special somepony. You didn’t judge me; you were happy for me. You encouraged me to be honest with the pony I liked, telling me that feelings kept hidden are the worst feelings there are.
Even though you got a little exasperated with me at times, you were always there for me.
I will never forget your friendship. You are amazing, Applejack...
Rarity. Your dramatic antics always brought a smile to my face. Your enthusiasm for fashion inspired me more times than you know. Whenever I was feeling burnt out, or down in the dumps, you always knew what to say or do to get me up and going again. I guess that comes with you representing Generosity.
Your generous trips to the spa, your constant clothing creations for me, everything you did for me, helped me be a kinder, happier pony to others. You never failed to encourage me in just the right ways.
You were the second pony I told about the special feelings I had for somepony. Just as I knew you would be, you got all excited, dashing back and forth. You also encouraged me to be honest with the pony in question, telling me to seize the day!
You are beautiful, Rarity. Both inside and out...
Fluttershy. You really are the element of Kindness. Your gentle kindness and your graceful elegance is very peaceful. If I ever needed somepony to calm me down, or if I was getting worked up about something, you would always know exactly what to do to. Your quiet tea parties and picnic lunches with your animal friends were just what the doctor ordered!
Though you don’t feel all that confident about yourself, you helped me to be more confident about myself, with your gentle advice and caring spirit.
You were the third pony I told about me feelings. You weren’t very surprised, like the others were.
You told me later that you kinda always knew. You reminded me to just keep calm, and be peaceful when I eventually confessed my feelings for my special somepony.
Never let anypony try to change you, Fluttershy, because you are fine just the way you are...
Rainbow Dash. My best friend, and fellow prankster. I can’t even begin to recall all the wonderful times we had together, pranking ponies, me judging your contests with Applejack. You knew me better than anyone.
I’ll never forget the day that we really bonded. The day that we got to know each other, and went from being casual friends, to best friends. That day that we went around pranking ponies was one of the best days of my life. You were such a good sport about things, even when I pranked you!
That was also the day that you stood up for me, losing your friend Gilda in the process. Element of Loyalty indeed. I will always remember that. It was that day I knew you would be my best friend forever.
Even though you were the fourth pony I told about my feelings, you already knew. How could you not? You know me better than I do sometimes. Your response was unsurprising. “Go for it!” you said. You’d come to me every day, telling me to go confess already. If it weren’t for you, I never would have told my special somepony how I felt.
You really are the awesomest pony around. And when I finally confessed my feelings, you were the one happiest for me. You were also the one that planned the surprise party for me. I was shocked. Normally I’m the one doing the surprising.
Spike. You really have grown over the years. You aren’t baby dragon anymore, that’s for sure. I was so happy for you when you and Rarity finally tied the knot. It took some doing, but you got her in the end!
I’ll never forget planning your surprise party for her. The look on her face when you knelt down, and got out that ring was priceless! You used the gem she gave you the day she was taken by the Diamond Dogs.
Even better was the wedding. I planned that too, with the help of my special somepony. Both of us were so happy for you. I hadn’t confessed yet, but seeing you and Rarity up there convinced me to go through with it.
You were the last of our friends I told about my feelings. Considering how close you are with my special somepony, I was nervous telling you. You just hugged me, and told me I had your blessing. Thank you, Spike.
It doesn't matter how big you get though. You will always have the cutest little cheeks!
Twilight Sparkle. You’re the one that brought us all together. If it weren’t for you, none of us would be as close as we are. All the adventures we shared together would never have happened if you hadn’t come to Ponyville.
You’re also the mare that stole my heart. You’re the best thing to ever happen to me. It took forever to work up the courage to tell you how I felt. I was so nervicited. At first, you didn’t know what to say; your cheeks were so cute that day, all cherry red! But you told me that you liked me too, and that you had liked me for a while.
The happiest times of my life were spent with you. Going to see Ponyacci together, finding the time travel spell, the “Feeling Pinkie Keen” episode. Getting married, and then adopting our kids.
We have shared so much. I wish we could share more, but it’s time for me to go. Take care of the kids, and don’t cry for me.
Goodbye Twilight, and thanks for making me smile, smile, smile...
