La luz de una antorcha fue lo que todos vieron primero, era Path sosteniendo la antorcha mágica que habían recibido de aquellos ponis de cristal cafés.

-Me parece un buen plan, perderemos más tiempo peleando que saliendo de aquí- argumento Cufflin.

Caminaron durante horas por la infinidad de cuevas, hoyos, pasadizos, túneles y demás que se encontraban dentro de la montaña, solo la luz de una antorcha y los cuernos de Twin y Cufflin iluminaban el camino a unos cuantos metros por delante, pero ser la única luz en la oscuridad les daba la sensación de ser observados, ahí donde las sombras permanecían.

Por más que trataban de buscar un pasadizo que subiera, siempre terminaban en uno que los hacia bajar el doble, y así continuaron caminando y caminando, solo eso podían hacer. Coloco la antorcha en el repetidor, y todos los conductos pronto se tornaron de un color brilloso, se veía como se iban iluminando a través de todas las paredes por donde se encontraban estos, algunos terminaban en caminos rotos, y otros empezaron a llegar a los cristales mágicos, que empezaron a transformar la energía en luz, toda la cueva comenzó a iluminarse gracias a los cristales.

La estructura de la cueva era obra de unicornios obviamente, pero justo esta había sido obra de los padres de Twin, Cufflin y Afi. Path ordeno que harían un pequeño descanso antes de continuar buscando una salida, los tres hermanos estuvieron un rato observando las paredes de la cueva, recordando a sus padres, mientras que el resto se pusieron a explorar o a descansar. Apenas y había pasado un minuto desde que Path les dijo que descansaran cuando escucharon un zumbido acercándose hacia ellos.

Todos voltearon a ver el túnel por donde ellos habían llegado, de las sombras de la cueva aparecieron unas extrañas criaturas; como unicornios negros, con ojos verdes, alas como libélula, colmillos afilados y cuerpos agujereados. Al inicio solo eran como quince, pero pronto en un abrir y cerrar de ojos ya eran más de cincuenta y continuaban llegando.

Los ponis se armaron con todo lo que tenían a su alcance: piedras, palos, pedazos de madera y una que otra especie de cuchilla que se encontraron por ahí tiradas.

Smith tacleo a varias creaturas para llegar hasta donde se encontraba su hijo y Afi.

Path estaba justo detrás de los gemelos, cubriéndolos de aquellos que se les acercasen, mientras que Afi y Dou permanecieron detrás de Smith pegados contra una pared, quien a pesar de tener a varios encima seguía peleando intensamente, no se rendiría así de fácil, ya había quedado atrás el momento para hacer eso, peleaba con tanta fiereza, descargando el dolor de su perdida sobre las criaturas. Uno logro pasar a Smith y golpeo a Dou, Smith volteo a ver si su hijo estaba bien y entre la distracción más criaturas le cayeron encima casi dejándolo fuera de combate,  pero Cufflin y Twin quienes ya estaban más cerca le quitaron a varios de encima con más bolas de fuego.

Continuaron defendiéndose, intentando reagruparse a través de los pilares, si lograban llegar hasta la entrada sería más fácil contenerlos por el espacio reducido, al ver esto, las criaturas cambiaron de estrategia, empezaron a encenderse en bolas de fuego verdes y se dejaron caer sobre los ponis, este ataque kamikaze rompió con todas las defensas de los ponis, Path callo primero noqueado por un golpe directo en la cara, la pareja de ponis se abrió paso hasta Path e intentaron cubrirlo defendiendo su posición, pero pronto fueron víctimas de la misma técnica que los dejo fuera de combate, los hermanos de Afi lograron llegar hasta Smith, y juntos empezaron a arrinconarse junto a la pared para alcanzar a Afi y a Dou.

Twin creo un escudo con su magia e impidió que los golpes de los kamikazes fueran directos, intentaron moverse hacia la estructura, hasta que el escudo se comenzó a romper y por desgracia siguieron el mismo destino de sus compañeros, todos terminaron tirados y lo último que pudieron ver fueron las criaturas acercándose hacia ellos.

Lado B.

Dou empezó a sentir una especie de sabia pegajosa alrededor de su cuerpo, después escucho un aleteo como de mosca cerca de él, y de pronto despertó. Solo podía ver oscuridad, no distinguía ni su propio cuerpo o la resina pegajosa que tenía junto a su cuerpo, y cuando empezaba a paralizarse de miedo una imagen frente a él le hizo que se le subiera el corazón hasta la boca. Un par de ojos verdes muy brillantes igual que con las otras criaturas, pero esta era más grande y además estaba al revés.

El pequeño Dou no podía moverse, estaba petrificado por el miedo que sentía a lo que fuese eso, vio que la boca de la criatura se abrió mostrando sus afilados y resplandecientes colmillos, listos para devorar cuando de pronto escucho otro aleteo muy alborotado que se acercó rápido hacia ellos.

Mientras tanto en otra caverna no muy lejos de ahí Cufflin acababa de recuperar la conciencia, pensó rápido como liberarse, y con su cuerno lanzo un resplandor tan intenso que segaría a cualquier merodeador que estuviera en las sombras, después de esto, Cufflin abrió sus ojos y vio que las piedras de la cueva absorbieron su magia y la reflejaron iluminando todo el lugar, Cufflin observo en que estaba atrapado, en una resina de color verde, rápidamente uso un encantamiento para lograr liberarse, y antes de ir en busca de sus hermanos tomo un poco de la resina y la llevo consigo.

Mientras corría por los túneles iluminados, se encontró con un pedazo de cristal en forma de espada, el cual corto para usarlo como arma, y después de esto continúo corriendo. La cueva se iba iluminando por donde el pasaba, no solo por su magia, sino también por los cristales que la reflejaban, quizá no la mejor estrategia ya que fue el único punto resplandeciente recorriendo los túneles y pasadizos, pero solo así avanzaría rápido. Mientras corría empezó a notar que varias de las criaturas lo seguían, pero no había tiempo para detenerse y enfrentarlas o tratar de perderlas, termino adentrándose en un túnel que se acanchaba y se dio cuenta de que era una cámara igual en la que él había estado encerrado, la ilumino con otro resplandor y ahí estaba atrapado en una capsula de la misma resina era Black Smith, sin tiempo que perder Cufflin lo libero.

Una vez liberado Smith, Cufflin observo que varias criaturas andaban tras ellos y con un potente hechizo hizo que retrocedieran, pero empezaron a llegar más y más, así que para evitar que entraran a el túnel lanzo la resina a la entrada y le prendió fuego con su magia, evitando que pasaran las criaturas.

Smith asintió con la cabeza, y justo cuando el fuego se estaba extinguiendo corrieron con todas sus fuerzas hacia la entrada de esa caverna;  empujando, golpeando y tirando una que otra mordida se abrieron paso a través de las criaturas, al pasarlos solo les quedo un túnel largo y muy amplio, a si continuaron recto y sin voltear atrás.

Cufflin comenzó a iluminar toda la cueva mientras corrían, pudieron ver que a lo lejos se encontraba otra cámara de contención, al entrar ilumino toda la caverna con su magia, y en eso, frente a él estaba su hermano; Twin, parado nada más observando. Cufflin se lanzó sobre su hermano y lo abraso, pero el permanecía como en shock.

-¡hermano soy yo Cufflin!- Le grito.

En eso Twin se recuperó -oh, lo… lo siento, es que pensé que no los volvería a encontrar, llevo horas arrastrándome por las cuevas, intentando encontrarlos, eh incluso encontré una salida de las cuevas, pero no me podía ir, no sin ustedes entonces escucharon el sonido de los aleteos a lo lejos, o al menos eso pensaban por el eco de las cuevas, cuando escucharon el silbato mágico de Path, no les agradaba la idea de ir tras ese sonido, pero justo ahora necesitarían toda la ayuda posible.

Empezaron a correr y tropezaron con un pasadizo que los descendió unos cuatro metros, y ahí estaba la entrada a dos cuevas. Se decidieron a entrar divididos, Cufflin entraría a la de la izquierda y Smith y Twin a la otra.

Smith le dijo a Twin que iluminara la cueva, el cual la ilumino, pero muy levemente y con mucho esfuerzo, al parecer no era tan habilidoso como su hermano, pronto los cristales empezaron a reflejar la tenue luz que recibieron, y entre las sombras apareció Afi, intentando liberarse con la magia de su cuerno.

Rápidamente Smith y Twin lo liberaron, y en cuanto se pudo mover Afi, corrieron hacia la otra cueva, al entrar esta estaba ya iluminada, y ahí estaba Cufflin, junto con Path, se encontraban observando algo. Cuando Smith alzo la vista vio que de la montaña salía un palacio construido de esta misma, se acercó a Cufflin y le dijo que encontraron a su hermano,  que tenían que seguir moviéndose y buscar por su hijo.

Cufflin volteo a ver a Smith y le dijo - Lo siento, yo ya tengo mi familia y nos vamos de aquí, y nosotros nos iremos con o sin ti -

Cufflin le dio la espalda, y se iba a retirar cuando por las paredes se escuchó una risa escalofriante. - Así que pensaban ¿que podrían salir así nada más? - se rio aún más fuerte – Créanme, no tienen forma de escapar de mí y de mi montaña –

De pronto del gran castillo surgió la misma criatura negra que estaba acosando a Dou, y detrás de este cientos de sus subordinados listos para atacar.

Lado A.

Dou empezó a escuchar pasos, algo se acercaba hacia él, no podía pronunciar ninguna palabra por miedo a lo que estuviera en las sombras, los pasos se detuvieron justo frente a él, empezó asentirse asediado y se le escapo un grito mudo.

Dou sintió un gran alivio pues reconocía esa vos era la vos de la poni que los había acompañado en este viaje - Smith es mi padre, yo me llamo Dou - le respondió aun con la voz entrecortada.

La poni empezó a cortar la sabia en la cual estaba atrapado; con una pequeña navaja que había encontrado tirada por ahí, hasta que Dou callo de cabeza sobre el suelo. Una vez libre, Dou comenzó a seguir a Eve por los túneles  - Ahora debemos encontrar a los demás - le susurraba la poni. Continuaron caminando siguiendo un tenue resplandor de luz que reflejaban los cristales en la cueva.

– No te preocupes por ellos, de seguro están bien y al igual que nosotros nos han de estar buscando -

Continuaron caminando hasta que escucharon susurros en las paredes de la montaña, escuchaban un sonido de algo grande moviéndose y al dar vuelta por una de las cuevas vieron al fondo como la luz de los cristales estaba más viva.

Una batalla frente a sus ojos, solo veían como los cientos de criaturas peleando contra los otros ponis, y como estos intentaban cubrirse dentro de la estructura.

Todas las espadas llegaron hasta los ponis gracias a la magia de los gemelos y cuando estos las tomaron lograron hacer retroceder a los enemigos, Path avía tenido que usar muchas veces una espada cuando pasaba a los comerciantes por el antiguo paso de las montañas; que siempre había estado plagado de bandidos, así que él sabia defenderse, con su espada logro abrirle el paso a todos los ponis para poder refugiarse junto al pilar donde se encontraba Eve que en este momento andaba con varias de las criaturas encima casi inmovilizada.

Mientras Smith y Afi seguían a Path, cubriéndolo como podían, Smith sabía hacer muy buenas espadas pero nunca había tenido que usar una para proteger su propia vida mientras que Afi con trabajo y podía cargar la suya. Mientras tanto los gemelos estaban atrayendo a un grupo mayor de criaturas, ya que se habían encontrado muy familiarizados con el uso de las armas combinadas con su magia.

Apenas y Path logro llegar asta con Eve y ayudarla a levantarse, cuando noto que Afi tuvo que dejar su espada para poder correr de las criaturas mientras Smith lo cubría a costo de perder también su arma. Los gemelos los alcanzaron pero ya no había mucho que hacer otras ves se encontraban rodeados y parecía que las criaturas no se iban a acabar nunca.

De prontos varias flechas salieron disparadas por el aire tumbando a varias criaturas, y entre la confusión de lo que pasaba; los ponis lograron repeler a los que los tenían rodeados para poder llegar hasta la estructura y cubrirse dentro de sus paredes.

Smith se llenó de esperanza y alegría al ver a su hijo y fue a protegerlo, ya que Dou no tenía tiempo de voltear a ver si nadie lo atacaba porque estaba disparando el resto de las ballestas de forma manual.

Todos se adentraron en el castillo tallado en la montaña y fueron directamente al lugar donde Dou había encontrado las armas. Smith tomo una nueva espada, esta era diferente a las que los demás tenían, tenía un acabado de color verdoso y en cuanto la tomo esta parecía reflejar una luz del color de la hoja. Pronto Cufflin reconoció la espada, era una espada echa por unicornios.

Cufflin comprendió que ellos habían sido el motivo de que sus padres hubieran desaparecido, tomo una espada como la de Smith pero esta no brillo en su magia un nuevo fuego llenaba ahora el corazón de Cufflin,  corrió de regreso a la entrada quitándose del camino como pudo a todo aquel que se le atravesó, Path lo siguió tratando de protegerlo pero no pudo seguirle el paso, Cufflin solo tenía un objetivo, aquel que era el líder, la criatura más grande que los había recibido con su riza malvada, lo vio volando cerca del pilar caído; así que paso a través de todos los que defendían al rey, se subió al pilar y pego un gran salto: clavo su espada en un costado del rey y con ella clavo todo su odio - Esto es por mis padres - el rey se logró liberar de la espada pero la herida ya estaba hecha, y fue arrastrado por sus súbditos a través de la oscuridad de la cueva mientras gritaba - ¡Mátenlos! ¡Mátenlos a todos! -

Todos alcanzaron a Cufflin para ver como este había sido tumbado por las criaturas y como estas se agrupaban listas para acabar con el trabajo que les había encomendado su rey, estaban por atacar cuando un rugido estremeció las paredes de la cueva y todas las criaturas se asustaron tanto que comenzaron a volar despavoridas por toda la cueva.

El esposo de Eve se encontraba en la entrada a la cueva, cubierto por sangre y con una expresión de desesperación - ¡Escapen de aquí mientras puedan! - les grito, después cayó al suelo y antes de que Eve pudiera correr hacia él, detrás de su marido apareció la criatura a la que todos temían, la osa menor. Una criatura con forma de oso pero mucho más grande, tapaba la única salida de la cueva pero por suerte esta decidió irse tras las criaturas que aún permanecían en la cueva y dejar la salida libre, ignorando por completo a los ponis.

Aprovecharon un pequeño espacio para evadir a la bestia y escapar por el camino que Twin conocía, continuaron a toda velocidad mientras que los gritos de las criaturas se perdían entre las paredes de la montaña. Todos estaban cansados de tanto correr pero nunca hubo tanta esperanza de sobrevivir como ahora, todos corrían, siguiendo a Twin y al final un brillo como ningún otro empezó a iluminar el camino, pronto una brisa de aire freso les pego en la cara y corrieron aún más rápido hasta que la luz los segó.

Cufflin pensaba en disculparse por querer abandonarlo en las cuevas pero fue interrumpido por Path.

Cufflin pago por sus dos hermanos y el, al igual que Eve pago por ella y su esposo,  volteo a ver a Smith a la cara - ¿Mi dinero? –
