Chapter 1: The Magicianette
It was a bright and sunny day. Everypony in the little town of ponyville was out enjoying the lovely weather. Some walked on their way to the market, in order to find fresh vegetables. Others made their way to coffeehouses or parks to meet with their friends for a chat. Colts and Fillies ran rampant in nearly anyplace you could think they could be, playing hide-and-seek, bouncing balls, or simply running in circles, filled with energy as they were. One pony, a tan-coated stallion with a strange metal tube in his mouth, was even sprinting full speed through town, no one knew his hurry, or if their was one, he was probably just enjoying the sunny day for all the other ponies knew.
And in a bright red schoolhouse on the edge of the small town, a young, cerise mare was finishing all her preparations to begin the new school-year, which would be starting in a couple weeks. Making sure that every stack of papers had been made perfectly square, checking the chalkboard for any sign of remaining dust from previous use, adjusting the ruler on her desk so it goes at just the right angle. Sure she was slightly obsessive compulsive, but working with colts and fillies her entire life, it was an amazement that that was the only mental disorder she had acquired.
“Finally done,” she sighed to herself. She let all her muscles relax and she began to breath a little easier.
With all her preparations over with, she sat herself down on her haunches in front of her desk. Opening one of the cabinets, she lifted out a large file labeled: Miss Cheerilee’s Elementary Class Student Files. Inside she kept a single paper dedicated to each one of her new students. Each one contained a picture of the filly or colt, a list of any and all medical accommodations that would need to be made, and (Cheerilee’s favorite part) a description of the young pony given by parents, foal sitters, those who had attended pre-school a description was given.
She began to read each and every one, already planning how the seating arrangements would be laid out to guarantee as many new friendships could be made as possible.
“Let’s see…A is for Applebloom,” she said, reading the name of the first student, “hmm, a very energetic and hard worker, great at starting new projects and seeing it through to the end. No cutie mark yet. She sounds very nice, I think right in the front row would be good for her.
“Alright then, moving on…D is for Diamond Tiara. According to her father she’s the sweetest angel. She enjoys playing dressup and loves jewelry. Oh, what’s this? She’s the daughter of Filthy Rich?” Filthy Rich was a very well known entrepreneur who lead his family’s company, Barnyard Bargains, his name was certainly not misleading, “Hmm, maybe she and Applebloom should sit next to each other, the two would probably get along very well and their friendship would show that a pony’s monetary wealth is not as important as their wealth in friendship.”
The pink-maned mare clapped her hooves together and squealed in fillyish delight, “Oh, this is so much fun!”
She continued going through each student, one by one, placing students in each of their individual seats. It was always exciting for her to see each new student and learn about every single one of them. Each one stuck out in a different way. A filly named Silver Spoon, who had already acquired her cutie mark at such a young age. A white unicorn named Sweetie Belle, apparently one for causing mischief and messing up her sister’s beloved work. She worked her into a corner, as to keep a potential troublemaker from the others. And even more interesting, was a filly named Scootaloo.
“But that’s- how does that happen?” the orange pegasus had absolutely no report of behavior or personality, there was a picture of her, a name, and general information, but there was nothing written by a preschool teacher, foalsitter, nor parent, there wasn’t even a phone number, just a scribbled address that was in such poor, scribbly handwriting, she couldn’t make out where the little pony lived.
“A mare of mystery, eh? Well, I guess I should put her with that mischievous unicorn, give her a potential friend.” It seemed wrong gambling on a student's placement like that, but what could be done?
With everypony given a proper seating for optimal friend-making and learning, Cheerilee put the paper file away and walked outside. The midday sun graced her body with a pleasant warmth. She wandered down to a small coffeehouse in the middle of town that made the greatest key lime tarts she had ever tasted.
On her way there, though, she saw a large group of ponies gathered around a giant stage that sat in front of town hall. They were all muttering to themselves. Listening in Cheerilee could hear a conversation between two stallions, (years of teaching had also given her a habit of constant eavesdropping, she would work to stop it, if it wasn’t so helpful with her little ponies).
“Where the hell did this stage come from?”
“Nopony knows. Apparently the Mayor just bumped into it on her way to the office. It just sprouted over-night.”
“Isn’t anyone going to move it?”
“And how do you propose we go about moving it. It’s a giant, freaking STAGE!”
“Well, yeah but still…”
“Still what, D-pad? Still what?”
“Shut up, Bassline, you don’t always have to be right.”
“Yeah, but I am.”
“No you- hey what’s that?”
“Oh, please. I’m not going to fall for that.”
“No, for real, something’s happening with the stage.”
Cheerilee shifted her own attention as fireworks shot up from either side of the wooden stage. Each one exploding in a large, colorful display of red and blue flares. Everypony stared at the display. Young fillies and colts would cheer at each burst, and somewhere, undoubtedly, a foal was crying into her mothers arms, afraid of the noise. Suddenly, a large blue rocket shot from behind the stage. Everypony watched in anticipation, waiting for what they expected was the largest explosion yet, but, as the ball raised, it slowly and slowly lost inertia until…it stopped, completely stopped. But only for a second. Gravity slowly pulled the still-bright rocket right back down to Equestria. Ponies began to panic, the bright blue light began to plummet back down to the stage. Just as it crashed, everypony covered their eyes and braced themselves for the flares to shoot out at them, but it never came.
Instead, a loud bang was heard and smoke flew out in every direction, covering the entire crowd in a thick grey haze. Cheerilee darted her head around, confused, she had lost all orientation. Just as she was ready to start running for her life, a voice from somewhere nearby spoke to the crowd.
“Fillies and gentlecolts, stallions and mares, foals of all ages. Here in Ponyville for the first time, she’s the greatest unicorn who’s ever lived. She can conquer any goal she’s faced with and overcome any challenge. Introducing: The One. The Only. The Great and Powerful Trixie!!”
At the shouting of the name “Trixie” a great white light shone from the stage, seeming to push the smoke out of the townsponies’ eyes. Upon the stage stood a blue mare with a long white mane that had a single, baby blue streak. Upon her head sat a light purple wizard cap, decorated with several iridescent stars of silver and gold. A matching cape was tied around her neck and fastened with a blue gem wrought in gold as a brooch.
“That’s right, Ponyvillians, today the Great and Powerful Trixie presents to you the greatest, most wondrous feats of magic that ponykind has never before seen!”
The crowed had very divided reactions. Some ponies made “ohh”s and “wow”s in sheer amazement. Others felt a mare able to boast to such an extent could surely never work up the ability to prove such statements correct. Cheerilee just stared. She suddenly the heat of the sun having a stronger effect against her, especially her face. She felt trickles of sweat start to form on her forehead and her heart skipped a beat.
“Uh…ma’am?” a creamy white pegasus stallion wearing a long-sleeved, black and white checked shirt and black fedora looked at her, “Are you okay? You look a bit flushed,”
A-am I…? No…suddenly looking for a mirror, the mare ran to a nearby store window, her own faint reflection revealed what she had thought not true. Oh sweet Celestia! I’m blushing! Cheerilee took a few deep breaths in order to calm herself, her heart was racing.
“It’s okay, Cheerilee, It’s okay just calm yourself down. You can go back and watch the magic show, you’ll be fine,” she slowly began to work herself into a courage that would allow her to walk back into the crowd, the same as anypony else.
She was, of course, wrong. Although she did rejoin the group of ponies spectating the magic show, she was unable to pay attention. Watching this amazingly pretty blue mare perform all sorts of magic. Cheerilee simply stood in a daze. The mare had been speaking throughout her entire act, but the school teacher heard nothing, only took in the sight of the magicianette. Suddenly her ears did pick up a certain phrase that, as a teacher, wasn’t foreign to her.
“So, I propose this challenge to you Ponyvillians: anything you can do, I can do better.”
The crowd became angry and started to boo the arrogant unicorn, but Cheerilee, not for the first time that day, was an exception. She placed a hoof to her face and began giggling to herself, trying as hard as she could to contain her mirth.
It was just…so…childish. The fact that a grown mare was acting like a little filly, Cheerilee saw it as just plain hilarious. She watched as one pony after another walked onto the stage and tried to best “The Great and Powerful Trixie”. Each one ended up getting outdone by trixie in one way or another, eventually ending in a very proud and accomplished-looking Trixie, and a very depressed group of friends.
Cheerilee could no longer contain herself as she rolled on her back, hooves folded over as her lungs spasmed in an attempt to breath through her laughter.
“Oh my goodness, oh dear, I simply must speak with this mare.”
So, Cheerilee waited. One by one ponies left the crowd until only a few remained. As the show finally came to a close, trixie stood at the centre of the stage.
“Thank you, one and all, for coming to witness The Great and Powerful Trixie. Now as I’m sure you are all very aware, this is, in fact, how Trixie makes a living, your donations are very much welcome so please feel free,” the showmare threw her hat into the crowd, and threw a small black ball onto the stage floor, a black puff of smoke forming and the mare suddenly vanished. What few ponies remained tossed in a few spare bits each. Cheerilee suddenly felt guilty at not having anything to give to the mare.
Now, cheerilee thought, I wonder where she wandered off to.
Cheerilee walked behind the stage to find a traveler’s wagon parked just outside the stage. Trixie had her head out the front and her face toward two colts.
Wait…those two are my new students, Cheerilee realized, Snips and Snails I believe, one of them a bit slow and the other very excitable if I remember correctly.
“You two henchman, bring Trixie a smoothy with extra hey! Trixie is parched after her last performance.”
“Oh, sure thing Trixie, we’ll be right back,” Snips replied.
“Yeah…right back,” the two colts bowed and then ran off to find Trixie her drink.
Now’s my chance I suppose.
Cheerilee approached the wagon and spoke up.
“Excuse me, Ms. Trixie,”
Cheerilee heard the unicorn gasp in astonishment, “You shall refer to Trixie as ‘The Great and Powerful Trixie’, you impudent peasant.”
“So, you know, definitely not, like a god complex or anything,” Cheerilee spoke in perfect deadpan.
“Wh- Ah- Trixie does not have a ‘complex’ of any sort. Trixie is the most powerful unicorn in the world,”
“Yup, not a god complex at all.”
“Hmph,” Trixie looked at her unwelcome guest, “If you are only here to insault Trixie, then she must ask you to leave her presence, she is a very busy pony,”
“Busy with what exactly,”
“Busy resetting all of Trixie’s props! Do you have any idea how long it takes for Trixie to put all those tricks into action?”
“Ah, so it wasn’t real magic, then? Interesting, I thought that was all your’s. Where’s your great power now Trixie,”
“Oh, please,” Trixie smiled smugly, “Trixie could perform all the tricks she presents with just her magic, but the props and illusion’s are easier and cause Trixie much less stress.”
“Yep no complex at all.”
“Well that out of the way, why are you here?”
“Oh, well, I didn’t have any bits so I just wanted to personally say to you how much I enjoyed your performance. But I must say, that ego of yours is something for concern.”
“Trixie is only as proud of herself as she rightfully deserves.”
“Then why do you act so much better than everypony, are you more deserving for the fame and adoration than everypony else in equestria?”
“Trixie does not think herself better than anyone else, she is simply the greatest unicorn. You can be the greatest, I don’t know…what is it that you do?”
“I’m a School teacher,” Cheerilee said proudly, “But no matter how good I am, that doesn’t mean that I’m better than anyone else in the business.”
“Well Trixie doesn’t think she is better than anypony else in the form of actual personality.”
“Yes because everypony else also claims how great and powerful they are and constantly boasts about their own prowess and speaks in the third person.”
“Trixie does not speak in the third-person!”
“Mm-hmm, never thought why I would assume such. Well I just wanted to say I really enjoyed your show, you remind me of my students. You act just like a little school filly. How exactly is it that you were able to remain so immature?”
“Trixie does not need to speak to you any more. Begon from her…uh,”
“Never even asked, eh?” Cheerilee felt very proud of herself, it definitely helped that she was completely right, “My name is Cheerilee.”
“Be gone from Trixie’s presence Cheerilee, Teacher of Foals.”
Cheerilee left, her heart racing in her chest. Why on earth was she so nervous around Trixie, at least she was able to appear calm, but still…
Cheerilee shook her head. “It doesn’t matter anyway, I probably won’t even talk to her ever again.”
She was, of course, wrong.

Chapter 2: A Wise Man Too Young to be Old
"Now, a very important event is happening right now. Can anypony tell me what?"
Cheerilee looked over her students, most of them seemed bored to the point of falling asleep (if they hadn't already), while others seemed jittery with anticipation to leave school shortly. Of course, Cheerilee didn't blame herself for any of this, students will be students and there was nothing she could do to change that, just be as enthusiastic and kind to her students as possible.
Cheerilee spotted a white hoof sticking up near the back.
Yes Sweetie Belle?" the teacher said with a smile.
"Princess Celestia is bringing delegates over from Saddle Arabia to come to Ponyville. Rarity was so excited to ask them about the type of fashion has been raving there for her new 'Goddess of the...something' line"
"That's right, and with this occurrence, I have a new assignment for all of you."
A symphony of groans echoed out from the students.
"Now, don't worry. This simply extra credit, and while I hope that you all participate, it is strictly your choice to do so. If you choose to, your assignment will be to research, or use your prior knowledge and present ten facts about Saddle Arabia, if you can't think of any, you can always head to the Golden Oaks Library, just so long as you don't overwhelm the librarian, and with that, class dismissed!"
Even after so many yeas of teaching, it was still surprising to Cheerilee just how much chaotic joy and awe can be brought forth, simply by the speaking of those two words. Cheering with delight the children bolted out of the room, all but one.
"Ardent...?" Cheerilee called out to the sleeping colt, "Ardent, wake up. School is over."
"...nnnnnggg..." the unicorn colt groaned in his sleep.
Sighing, Cheerilee walked up and gently shook him, "Ardent, come on,"
"...M-Medi, I...I, wha-huh-where-uhh?" the colts eyes slowly blink and he slowly pulled himself up, "Huh? Is it...? Oh, jeez," he said, rubbing the back of his neck with a hoof, "Sorry Miss Cheerilee. I didn't mean to fall asleep. I was up kinda late last night doing...something."
"It's fine Ardent, I just wish you weren't making this such a reoccurring thing, try and rest up more before you come to school, okay?"
The colt smiled, "Yeah sure," slowly standing up, he half-walked, half-stumbled his way out the door, "Thanks again Miss Cheerilee, I promise this won't happen again!"
"I sure hope not," Cheerilee called back, "Otherwise I might have to start telling Medi you dream about her in my class,"
Ardent stopped dead in his tracks, a pink blush spreading across his cheeks, "How do you-...is it...do I make it that obvious?"
Cheerilee smiled, "Oh, she's probably oblivious of it, but that's cause she doesn't here you mutter in your sleep everyday like I do,"
"Hey, Miss Cheerilee," the colt wandered back further into the classroom, "If you're so good at, you know, noticing things like that, do you think she- I mean have noticed if, maybe, Medi, um...." the blush on Ardent's face was growing brighter.
Laughing, Cheerilee answered, "Well, if you weren't asleep all day, you might notice the glances she always makes in your direction, and the heart drawings on her desk."
"The...what?" Ardent's eyes suddenly grew twice their normal size, "She- at me? Really?"
"Well, now that you have knowledge, what do you plan on doing with it?" Cheerilee asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I guess I'll talk to her...maybe, I don't know, It might take me a while to work myself up to it, but, yeah I'll do it!"
"That's great! It's always nice to see two students be together, and trust me you and Medi will work out just fine."
"Th-thanks Miss Cheerilee, it's kinda strange to be hearing that from a teacher."
Ardent once again began to walk out the door, but then stopped as another thought came to him.
"Hey, Cheerilee, do you...have a 'somepony'?"
"Excuse me?" now it was the teacher's turn to be confused.
"I mean, I know your not married, but do you have a coltfriend...or marefriend?"
"Ardent, that isn't something a student asks their teacher."
"Then don't answer it as a student asking a teacher. Treat it as me, a pony, asking you, a pony, if you have a special somepony."
Cheerilee's mind traced back to a certain Hearts and Hooves day not too long ago, remembering that awkward situation with Big Macintosh and the love poison.
"No, I don't have a special somepony at the moment,"
"Well...there must be somepony you think about, right?"
"Why should I tell you it's none of your business?"
"Oi, if your going to play matchmaker with me and Med-which I have no problem with, trust me- then you have to deal with my questions as well. So, anypony you fancy?"
Suddenly, a blue mare in a purple hat and cape came to mind, Cheerilee's heart began to race.
"Nope, nopony at all," she blurted out a bit too quickly.
"Hmph," Ardent wore a smug grin on his face, "There defiantly is,"
"No there's not, what makes you say that!?"
"For one, how quick your answers are coming out," the colt now began to speak in a factual and anylitical tone, the same tone one would take if they were, for instance, explaining why the exterior angles of a polygon always equal 360 degrees, "Two, your cheeks are turning red, and three, your eyes are starting to dart around nervously. When you study romance as much as I do, you tend to notice the trends."
"So, you think there's somepony I like?" the teacher asked.
"Hmmm," the colt rubbed his chin with a hoof, then smirked. "Actually, I don't think 'like' does it justice. Maybe, 'adore' would be better? Or...loooove ~" He said that last word with a flutter of his eyelashes.
"Ardent!" Cheerilee scowled, but the blush on her cheeks became even more pronounced.
"Wow! I was just kidding, but it looks like I hit it dead on," he smiled, "Soooooo...who exactly is the lucky pony?"
Cheerilee opened her mouth to retort that there was nopony, but then stopped and sighed. He already knows, what's the point?
"Trixie..." She mumbled, hardly audible.
Ardent's ear perked up, "Beg Pardon?"
"Trixie! I like a mare named Trixie! There, you happy?!" The cerise mare laid her head down in defeat.
"Well, jeez, not anymore..." Ardent's gaze suddenly became one of empathetic concern. He placed a comforting hoof on her shoulder. "Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed that hard, my sincerest apologies."
"Thanks," Cheerilee smiled, "I still have to thank you, though. I probably never would have come to that kind of conclusion myself,"
The colt returned her smile, "Some ponies can't do it on there own, 'the closer you get to something, the harder it is to see it'. I can see it easily because I'm outside the event."
"Well, thanks,"
"So...when you gonna tell her?"
"When you tell Medi."
"Hm, so by tomorrow then?"
"Please, kid, like you could in one day."
"Shall we put it to a bet then? If I can't confess to Medi, I leave you alone about Trixie, if I do, you have to talk to her."
"A fun thought," Cheerilee chuckled, "But sadly, I haven't seen her in half a year, she was just traveling through town. Celestia only knows where she is now..."
Ardent became somber, "And you think you'll never see her again, huh?"
"Yeah," Cheerilee looked down, her own fate depressing her.
"Cheerilee," Ardent suddenly became very serious, "Do you love Trixie?"
"Ardent, I don't think-"
"Do you love Trixie?"
"I've only seen her once, isn't it a little bit early to-"
"Do you love Trixie? "
"Yes!" Cheerilee exclaimed, "I love her. I love her beautiful mane, and her violet eyes. I love her amazing confidence to be herself. I even her flaw, her inflated ego. I love the adorable way she talks in third person, I-"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Easy there, filly!"
"Sorry, I got a little carried way there, huh?"
"Not at all," the student smiled.
"Cheerilee," Ardent said, "Love will always find a way, through any mountain and any ocean, Love finds a way,"
"Hmm...Ardent, how old are you?"
The colt laughed heartily, "I am but a wisestallion who is too young to be old. To answer your question, I'm currently 7."
"Well thank you," Cheerilee smiled, "I appreciate your help."
Ardent bowed his head, his black mane covering his eyes and his wings flared up, "It is my honor to assist the problems of another pony's heart."
The colt turned to leave the school.
"Oh, Ardent, one more thing."
"Hm, what is it?"
Cheerilee pointed to the young colt's flank.
Looking back, the colt noticed something new in an area that was, until recently, blank. Now upon his blue flank was a sword hilt with a heart shaped ruby for a pommel.
"Yeah," Ardent smiled, " I could get used to that,"
Author's Note
I really like how Ardent came out in this chapter. "Word of the wise" is such a popular trope, so I made it go in the opposite direction, the older teacher given life changing advice by the young foal. Hooray role reversal!

Chapter 2.5: Yes, you still have to read this.
Cheerilee walked outside of the schoolhouse, gazing up at the sunny afternoon sky. Her mind was racing about all of the revelations that had occurred in the past couple minutes. Her entire world had been turned upside-down.
No, actually, that's not quite correct. It was as if her world had been upside-down the whole time and then one of her laziest students flipped it right-side-up, everything was as it should be, but it still made her confused.
Maybe Ardent's right. Maybe the mare I love will come back to me. I never really thought fate to have such weight in the world, but maybe it is true. Maybe such a relationship would work out. Cheerilee smiled, I need coffee.
She immediately started to head for the coffeehouse in the centre of town. On her way she stopped and looked at the clear area right in front of Town Hall. Her mind placed a stage in front of her, and atop the stage stood a cerulean unicorn, her horn aglow with pink magic.
Cheerilee smiled at the memory. This is the first place I saw her…
Then the mare shook her head to relieve herself of the daze, Come on Cheeri, this is the only place you saw her.
The magenta mare trotted into the coffeehouse. She gazed out the window, simply thinking about what exactly to do now that she had come to such a great realization. She did not realize the barista becoming quite annoyed with her.
“Ma’aaaam. Hellllooo.”
“Hm? Oh, I’m sorry,” Cheerilee flushed in embarrassment, “Umm, I think I’ll just take a pumpkin latte, with a twist of lemon please.”
The barista cocked his head, “Pumpkin and lemon? Are you sure miss, that’s quite an unusual choice.”
“No, it’s fine,” Cheerilee had ordered this combination by accident once, and now she never ordered anything else.
The barista handed her her coffee and she laid her bits on the counter, with a generous tip added.
Cheerilee walked outside of the coffeehouse, but was immediately aware of something very different.
That’s funny, she thought, I thought it was brighter out just a second ago.
Turning her gaze to the heavens she noticed a thick layer of clouds had completely blocked the light from Celestia’s sun, the entire town was cast in it’s great shadow. More peculiar, however, was where the clouds ended. It seemed as if the cloud had been perfectly created to hover just above Ponyville, and nowhere else.
Something’s wrong here, Cheerilee thought. She began to walk toward her home, then quickly grew to a trot, then a canter, a gallop, before she knew it she was sprinting full-speed toward her home at the edge of town.
This isn’t even possible, I don’t think. Clouds like this are usually far more spread out, and even then they don’t spring out of nowhere. And they couldn’t flown in so fast, because there’s no breeze, and furthermo-
CLANG!
Cheerilee suddenly felt a great pain as she collided with some kind of forcefield, head first.
“Owww…” she moaned aloud, “Guess that’s what I get for not looking where I’m running.”
Looking back up, she noticed it wasn’t a forcefield, but rather…glass?
Indeed a giant glass wall that went as far as she could see in either direction, and towered above her until it began to ever so slightly slope back toward town square before disappearing into the clouds.
“But, that’s…That’s not possible, to create a barrier of this caliber would require a unicorn of at least Prince Shining Armor’s power and specialization, and even then, to turn it into a solid object like indestructible glass, it’s unbelievable”
“So, you are impressed the glass dome, huh?”
That voice. She knew it well. It had been playing in her head all day speaking words of somepony hardly known, yet completely adored. Cheerilee turned her head slowly.
“Is…is that-”
She turned her head, and was surprised and delighted to see the mare that she had been unable to remove from her thoughts. This joy though was almost instantaneously replaced, though when she noticed what the mare was riding.
Underneath her was a cushion that looked soft enough to belong to royalty, and big enough to work as somepony’s mattress. The cushion rested on a golden chariot, with a large gold overhang to provide shade, and held in the harness of this colossal vehicle were Snips and Snails, panting and sweating like mad as they attempted to heave the cart, which, Cheerilee noticed, lacked wheels.
“Yes, I, the Great and Powerful Trixie have returned to Ponyville, in order to enact my revenge!”
“Revenge, why whatever for?”
“Do not act like you don’t remember Trixie’s humiliation, the Ursa Minor, how you Ponyvillians ruined Trixie’s career?”
“I do remember some mentioning of an Ursa Minor coming through Ponyville, but I was in my house on the far outskirts of town when it happened, so I didn’t see what happened. Trixie, I assure you, neither I nor anyone here wished to ruin your magic career, please release this barrier,”
“Hmph, the Great and Powerful Trixie will not lift the barrier, for she has earned the rights to this town by way of magic duel, and because a worthless pony like yourself has decided to command Trixie,” the unicorn scowled as her eyes grew a bright red, as did the medallion that hung around her neck, which Cheerilee hadn’t noticed before, “I shall punish you by reducing you to no more than one of the foals you teach,”
A burst of red magic fired from Trixie’s horn like lightning and landed upon Cheerilee, feeling her body shift and change, she fell to the ground moaning.
“Tr...Trixie, please stop thith!” she cried. Wait did I just…?
“Trickthie, pleathe thtop!” But-but, I haven’t had problems like that in years.
Cheerilee finally felt Trixie’s magic release from her and she looked down, her legs were skinnier than she remembered. At the end of each hoof were a series of neon-colored, silicon hoofbands. Around her neck hung a very familiar-looking, checkered neckerchief, with several colorful buttons. Looking over at her mane, she noticed it crimped and zig-zaggy. Her tongue glided over her teeth. The tang of metal was unmistakable.
“Trickthie, change me back, now!” Cheerilee lisped.
The magicianette laughed uncontrollably, “Your ridiculous voice amuses Trixie, she will not be changing you back for a long time.” She looked down at her servants, “Do you expect Trixie to move herself? Start pulling!” The two colts heaved forward, grunting in agony. Cheerilee watched in horror as her students toiled at the hands of this tyrant
“Trickthie, thith ithn’t like you. You’re not evil!”
“Trixie did not allow you to speak! Trixie demands you leave her presence!”
Cheerilee’s eyes began to water.
Why? Why did this happen to me. I’ve tried my whole life to do good, to teach the young. I wasn’t mean to never mean to anypony, ever. And this is my reward, to treated like mere trash by the mare I…the mare I love…
Cheerilee fell to the ground, her legs no longer having the strength to hold her up, she covered her with her forelegs as her tears stained her own fur. She sobbed uncontrollably, her heart broken and her live meaningless. What now was left for her?

Chapter 3: Ice Cream Mood-Swings
Her legs ached. Her head hurt. It caused her unbearable amounts of pain simply to keep her eyes open. But all of this was nothing compared to the unbearable pain in her heart.
She didn’t know what to do. Here entire life depended on the blue mare, if only for a day. But now, she couldn’t imagine life without her. Fresh tears poured from Cheerilee’s eyes, she didn’t mind, they had been doing that for the past few hours. The world outside was no dark and cold.
How fitting, Cheerilee thought bitterly.
What now? She’d have to quit her job, there’s no point in a teacher being depressed, the kids already don’t listen to her. She could stay inside all day, never leave her houses walls. Better for her to wallow in misery rather than leave her home and spread depression amongst the other ponies, especially considering she looked like this again.
She looked back at her teenage self.
Hmph, and ponies always wish they were younger. Ohhhh…why’d I have to get this STUPID mane cut?
Cheerilee stood up and began walking toward her kitchen, her hooves dragging along the wooden floor. She opened her modest sized refrigerator, and reached for the freezer drawer. Opening it, she loosed a blast of cold air onto her face, calming her only slightly. She grabbed a half gallon of vanilla ice cream. Walking toward the stairs she stopped to grab a spoon from a nearby drawer.
"What'th the point, anyway?" Cheerilee whined to herself. She entered her bedroom and dropped on her bed unceremoniously. She pulled open the paper tub and began to spoon the delicious cream into her mouth. It was certainly a conflicted experience, her overwhelming sadness bringing tears to her eyes while the sugary cream sent her brain waves of guilty pleasure.
"I'll never find thomepony like her ever again! My life hath no meaning!" She sobbed, taking another spoon of delicious vanilla, "You know what? I'm glad I won't thee her again, she'th jutht a BITCH! Who the needth her!" Suddenly she started to feel happy about her life, "I'll be over it in a week or tho, everthying'th going to be the thame, better even!"
"...who am I kidding? Without Trickthie my life ith meaningleth..."
"Buck Trickthie, the can just go and DIE for all I care!"
"Everything ith going to be amathing. I'll be a whole new mare!"
"..oh...Trickthie. Why must you do thith to me...?"
"Wait a minute..." Cheerilee looked down at the carton she had absent-mindedly been feeding herself from. It was empty.
"That'th weird. I haven't done that thinth...oh, thinth High Thchool."
Apparently, more than just my appearance has receded to that of a teenager, now I have to deal with these feelings. Buck you Trixie!! I love you, you Bitch!
Her mood swings were interrupted by the ring of her doorbell.
"Cheerilee, are you home, it's...it's Trixie..."
Cheerilee stomped down her staircase and opened the door, glaring at the blue mare on the other side, she now lacked her red amulet.
"What the hell do you want?"
"Trixie supposes she deserves that," she looked down at her hooves, taking the full brunt of Cheerilee's insult.
"May Trixie come in please?"
Cheerilee begrudgingly opened the door to her house and walked into the living room, which consisted of two couches facing each other from other side of a wooden coffee table. The earth pony laid down on one couch, while she let Trixie take the other. The unicorn mare sighed to herself.
"Trixie came to...apologize. She was simply acting awful,"
"You're damn right you were, now if you're really thorry, thang change me back thith thecond!"
"Sorry, but because of the Amulet, Trixie's magic still isn't working well," Trixie won't be able to change you for a few hours, she can at least do this, though," With a flash of her horn Cheerilee felt her mouth become lighter.
"Hmph," Cheerilee scowled, "I don't have to accept what you say, you know." She was surprised to find her lisp gone.
Trixie nodded, "That makes sense, after what Trixie said and did under the influence of the Alicorn Amulet, but she begs you please, please forgive her?"
"Why do you care about my forgiveness?"
"I-I, Trixie doesn't want you angry at her..."
Wait, was she blushing? Cheerilee looked closer. She could see a pink tinge spreading across the base of Trixie's muzzle.
"And why is that?" Cheerilee asked.
"Because, Trixie...um...I..."
Cheerilee pointed a hoof to herself, "Trxie, do you...like me...?"
"Tri...I'm not sure..." Cheerilee got up off the couch so that she stood in front of Trixie.
"Because well, I sort of- I mean," Cheerilee threw her forelegs around Trixie's neck. "I like you."
Trixie's eyes widened in shock, "Y-you do?"
"Mmmhmm, ever since I first saw you on stage."
"But why? Trixie was an arrogant and foalish pony at the time."
"Maybe, but you looked so beautiful, and had such great confidence. You weren't afraid to be yourself, even if you were a little self centered."
"So, you really like me?"
Cheerilee answered with a sweet kiss on the blue mare's cheek, "I don't think 'like' does it justice," Thank you, Ardent!
Trixie smiled at the magenta mare, "I like your mane, it's very cute,"
"Don't get used to it, It's leaving the second I can get rid of it."
Both mare's giggled, suddenly meeting eye to eye.
Trixie suddenly realized how close their muzzles were, making her blush a deep crimson. Cheerilee who was blushing herself, smiled. She began to lean in, and closed the distance between their lips.
The kiss only lasted so many seconds, but it felt like an eternity to the mares involved, and if either where capable, it would have lasted forever. But sadly it had to end, but it wouldn't be their last, nor their only.
"I love you, Trixie"
"I love you, too,"
Cheerilee walked around and laid an the couch next to the beautiful mare she had admired for so long, slowly she nuzzled herself against Trixie's chest and wrapped her forelegs around her middle. Trixie's hooves pulled Cheerilee's head in closer to her chest, and the two fell asleep there, wrapped in loves embrace.
