//-------------------------------------------------------// Rise of a Saiyan -by Dragonman461- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Birth //-------------------------------------------------------// Birth Luna and Celestia stare up into the stars and pray. They pray to any deity that lay out there, any group that may help them, any warrior in need of a home to save them and their people. To save all of Pony kind from the terror that now lay dormant under their hooves. The monster which they had sealed away with their powers of the Elements of Harmony, with all their stellar might, and every ounce of strength from the ponies of Old Harmony, the now empty wasteland of ragged clothes and empty houses that once held the mighty Alicorn children. The children that they had hoped would rise up and begin to flourish once again, not as a dominant tribe, but as a factor of peace, a better future that their mother had always dreamed of creating. But now laid to death as their powers were drawn for the good of the planet. An evil that could outmatch even Discord in battle, not only in physical power, but in magic as well. They prayed to the once fabled Saiyan warriors that protected the Galaxy from the tyranny of Freeza, from the reign of Majin Buu, and had even stopped the legendary God of Destruction, Bills. The Z warriors. They prayed for them to save them all, yet again. To come to their world and destroy the beast. To free their kind. But alas, they did not have the tools to do so. No space travel, no wish-granting dragon, and no way to communicate with the Kais that watched them train. All of their children had been strong, but nowhere near as strong as the original Z fighters, and had little to offer for their troubles. They had lost hope. Their land would be destroyed. Their homes burned. And their people extinct. All in just a few more years, when the creature wakes from his slumber. All was lost. Or so they thought… \\\////// In the far away lands of The Ancients, seven mystical orange creatures, each one a different species, one pony, minotaur, griffin, diamond dog, earth-dragon, zebra, and changeling, had all gathered together at the site of a crippled temple, ready to fall at any second. They each approached from a different doorway, showing their marks, each one a different number of stars. These beings had kept watch over the world since the beginning of it’s existence, not too long ago, and watched in the shadows how each of their respective races were faring. Now however, was a time that which they all needed help. They needed a true hero. They needed a Saiyan. However, to try and make one fall from the stars would be insufficient, as the ones now scattered across the galaxy are far too weak to manage anything above 20,000. The strongest of this world had magic to match at least 400,000. They knew that they needed to ask the elders themselves for a chance to recreate one of the greatest warriors to be born. It was here that the meeting began, and where the fate of not only their world, but the universe, played out. They each sat down and extended their appendages to each other. Once touching, they began to glow. They concentrated on speaking to the warrior they needed most, the one to defeat the tyrant and the god, the one light in the darkness, the hope for all living things that cried out for justice: Son Goku: the Legendary Super Saiyan. \\\////// Goku was training, as usual, with his master, King Kai, in Otherworld. It had been nearly 1,000 years since the last tournament, and Goku could hardly wait any longer for the chance to win and train under the Grand Kai! He was so excited, he nearly turned Super at the mention of the tournament. Vegeta and Piccolo were also training in their respective ways, with either meditation or back-breaking gravity. Each effective, but showed similar results: sweat and anticipation. The rest of the Z-fighters were content with their presence in the world as a sign of being able to relax and continue their now eternal friendship. The Saiyan warrior was at peace with everything that the universe had done for him, and was even more so to see that his friends and family had all shared the same greatness in the afterlife. Everything was the definition of perfect for him. Plenty of food, fight, and friends for the rest of eternity. Goku had indeed died and gone to heaven. Then, he heard King Kai call out to him. “Goku, come here! Quickly!” Goku snapped out of his trance and flew over to his trainer. “What is it King Kai? Something wrong?” “Put your hand on my back, there are some people that need to talk to you.” Goku activated his serious mode and placed his hand on the Kai’s back. When he did, he heard seven voices speaking in unison. “Hello? Can you hear us?” “Yeah, I can hear you. What’s wrong?” answered Goku. “Our world is in trouble, and you are one of the only ones that can help us. You see, we have recently run into a massive threat to the universe, even more powerful than Majin Buu. We have trapped them, but we only have thirty years to prepare. We are aware that you are not allowed outside of the Otherworld unless everything is at massive risk, but we wish to be able to stop the threat before it can happen. All we ask is that you allow us to make a shadow of your power, so that we may give it to one of our own with a pure heart. To make a Saiyan warrior of our own blood.” Goku nearly jumped back at this, which signaled for Vegeta to have the urge to see what he was dealing with. “Alright, clown, what is it this time?” Vegeta asked as he placed his hand on the Kai’s back as well. “Who is this? What do you want.” “We merely wish to copy a fraction of your power to protect us from the threat and nothing else. We will die once the process is complete, please.” “You’re asking that clown to lend his power to try and stop something we don’t even know what is, and give it to a group of people that we don’t even know!? How crazy are you!?A” the prince yelled. Goku looked about in seriousness and located the source of the voices. There, he felt an energy that did indeed surpass Majin Buu, and was just as evil. The planet had inhabitants that didn’t even come close to the saiyan descendants on the other side of the galaxy, but they didn’t even near this evil presence either. He looked into the hearts of the people on the planet with his Saiyan God powers, and saw the purity of the world, and the truth of the words that the speakers gave. Vegeta looked over to Goku when he sensed the God form activate, and saw the look on his face. They were worth saving and trusting with this power. Vegeta looked away in dissatisfaction, and spat out at the ground, making a sizable crater in the dirt. Goku closed his eyes and returned to the voices. “I can sense the evil within the planet’s core, and the power it has. You’re right. We can’t let this thing be unleashed on such innocent people. How can I help?” he asked. “All you need to do is surge your Super Saiyan power through this talk, and allow us to take hold of it. You will not loose it at all, just feel slightly exhausted. This would normally kill one, but since you are already dead, and so strong, it will merely tickle. It will, however end us, but we die knowing that this world is safe. You can return your attention to this place to track and talk to the child whenever you wish, even to give him advice or train him properly.” Goku charged up his Ki and powered up to Super form. He then allowed his power to slip into the void that held the voices, and felt a massive wave of exhaustion wash over him, causing him to gasp and fall as his Super form died out. The voices were weak and in pain now, but still managed to utter one more thing to the Saiyan. “Thank you. You have saved the universe yet again.” Goku let out a small chuckle as he got to his feet rather dizzy, and reached for one of his training senzu beans. He ingested it and felt his full return. Whatever they did, they had the power of a Super Saiyan and an evil greater than Buu. It would surely be a massive battle like only his. And he couldn’t wait to see it. \\\////// In the hospital of Ponyville, there lay a weakened mare that lay in a hospital bed with her mid-section bulging from her pregnancy. Her eyes were tearing up from the news that Daddy wouldn’t be able to be there for the baby at all after a run-in with a group of Shadow-Bolts in the skies past Cloudsdale. The infamous fliers appearing in more than just old mare’s tales now that even more monsters began to pop up from seemingly nowhere. She cried for her husband, who was no longer with them, and for the baby, who would soon have no mother, either. The doctors had always said that they should consider adoption, or even a test-tube foal, as Misty Dawn’s magic had always been too unstable for the yellow unicorn to ever make it past the birthing stage. She and her husband, Chain Wing, had thought it best to find a way to make it work. But now, she began to regret the decision, seeing as they would both be in the morgue by morning, as their foal was hauled off into an orphanage. She couldn’t bear these thoughts and bawled out even further into pain as she felt her contractions begin to blend in with one another. The doctors around her were moving about, stabilizing her long enough for the birth to go long enough to not damage the foal. As she felt her own body ripping itself apart on the inside, she felt a surge of energy move through her and into the foal. She felt it slip through the magic field and into the foal that was now being cradled in front of her. There was a surge of magic and another mysterious energy that rattled the room and what felt like the entire hospital, as the foal began to cry out with life. She looked over to her child and took in what she had just done: given her life to this one: one with a future. She saw a beautiful red Earth-pony foal with red hair that stuck out in multiple directions like a bush of some kind. She watched it squirm into life as her own began to fade out. She heard the doctors call out to her. “It’s a colt. A healthy colt.” She smiled in delight with this, and rested her head back onto the bed. The doctor recalled her attention yet again. “What do you want to name him?” For some reason, an ancient name of sorts had burrowed its way into the middle of her mind. It seemed perfect for the foal. It seemed to capable. So powerful. So… right. With her dying breath, she named her child as she felt the wings of her lover encompass her soul. “Son. Son Goku.” //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Twilight looked at the building in the distance with a strange feeling rising in her gut as she breathed deeply. "Come on, honey." A voice called from behind the Princess. She turned around to see none other than Trixie, her lover, come close to her. "We talked about this for quite some time, right? Are you still nervous?" The azure Unicorn asked with a sly smile. "It's just... this is a massive step forward for us, and I don't know how to feel." Trixie moved up in front of the Alicorn before turning and looking her in the eyes. "Twilight, we have been over this. We are here, and we will leave with a child that we will raise from the ground up, if we have to. Alright?" She then leaned in to kiss Twilight on the lips lightly before smiling to her. "Now come on, let's go adopt a foal." She finished with a flick of the tail. Twilight smiled before following close behind the other mare. After a minute, the two were upon the small brick building's entrance, where Trixie then knocked. In the span of seconds, the door opened to reveal a Pegasus mare with a blonde mane and a light blue coat with a Cutie Mark of a smile in a small sun. She smiled at the two before speaking. "Hello, welcome to Sunny House! My name is Sunshine, I'm the caretaker here at the orphanage! Are you- oh my! Princess Twilight!" The mare then proceeded to bow. "To what do I owe-" "Stop this, please!" Twilight cried, almost stomping in frustration. "I don't want anypony to bow to me! I just wanted to come down here with my marefriend and adopt a foal so we can finally raise a family! Is that too much to ask!?" Sunshine slowly rose. "Oh... Y-you want to adopt, from here? Really?" She asked, astounded. "Yes! Thank you! Are there any here?" The mare looked around nervously before leaning in to the two. "In all honesty, ever since you became a Princess, we haven't had many foals in the orphanage at all, really. Everypony that wanted to adopt thought that since they were living with a Princess, now, the foals may as well have been encrusted with jewels." Trixie frowned as Twilight let her mouth hang open. The azure mare shook her head before responding. "Are you saying that we have to find another place to adopt?" The Pegasus nervously shook her head. "Oh, no, no, no! It's just, well... there's only one left... and he's, special, in some ways." The two adopting mares looked at each other before turning a questioning gaze at the Pegasus. "In what ways?" Twilight asked. Sunshine sighed before clearing her throat. "You see, the colt's name is Goku. I looked it up, and I can't seem to translate it in any way. All I know is that was his mother's last words when she died birthing him. His father died earlier than that due to unforeseen consequences. His family has had a bad history with their medical records and internal magic as well. His heart is unstable at times, and can become very weak at a moment's notice. I once had to take an entire week to care for him. But please, he's a great colt. He's kind, respectful, always smiling, and just downright good. I've never felt as good about any colt as I have Goku, and I know that if you gave him a chance, you'd love him too." Trixie and Twilight looked at each other before smiling deeply and turning back to Sunshine. "We'd like to see him." Trixie stated. Sunshine nodded and turned towards a staircase behind her. The three made their way up to a room on the left side of the building. When the Pegasus opened the door slowly, the two mares were shocked to see what they did. There, in the room, was a small colt that looked as though he were a few months old. The colt was laying on the floor coloring something in with a pencil in his mouth, waving his mane back and forth. The mane was massive, and shot out in random directions, as if it were a weapon. And his tail... "What's with his tail?" Twilight asked. The part in question was very thin and had short, stubby brown fur, as opposed to the solid black of his mane. It looked as though it belonged to a monkey. "It's always been that way, since he was dropped off, really. I always thought that it was kinda cute, you know?" The three watched as the tail swished about in the air as if it had a mind of its own. Twilight then smiled widely at the spectacle. "Well, I think that's something that would be interesting to study, at least. And he's such a cute little colt, isn't he, Trixie?" Trixie huffed softly. "I guess it is rather cute looking. How old is he, again?" "He's eight." Both mares gaped at the statement. "Eight!? He looks like a foal!" Twilight nearly shouted. The burst of volume caused a certain colt to turn his head towards the door. With a smile, Goku bolted up towards the door in a near instant and listened quietly to the mares on the other side. "I know that he looks young, but that's also because of the fluxing magic around his heart. It's affected muscle growth and development for the little guy, but otherwise, he's still perfectly fine. I mean, if you don't want him, I could find another orphanage. I'm sure that there's one in Canterlot with a foal suitable for a Princess." The lovers looked towards each other once more before Twilight sighed. "No, just, give us a minute, alright?" Sunshine nodded, prompting the two to turn and converse. "I don't know, Trixie, I just don't think it's a good idea with his heart condition. What if I end up exposing too much magic to him and trigger some kind of heart-attack. I don't want something like that to happen to the poor colt." "Twilight, I know you want what's best, but right now, I see a child that needs a home and help, and I know a certain mare that can offer both of those. She gave them to me once, and I fell in love with her." She added with a smile, holding a hoof to Twilight's chin. Twilight smiled warmly as they lightly kissed once more. "Should we do this now? Or do you think we should wait?" Trixie asked. "We came here willing to take a foal home today, and there's one waiting for us right now. I think we should do it." The two then turned to Sunshine. "Sunshine," Twilight started, "we've decided that we would like to adopt Goku." Sunshine then gasped and smiled, holding a hoof to her mouth as a pool of tears began to form. "Oh my... it's... I never thought... Goku!" She called. The red colt burst from the door and beamed at the older mares. "Hi!" He stated. "Goku, these, wonderful, beautiful mares want to bring you... home." Goku stared with a confused look at Sunshine. "But, what about here? And you?" The mare bent her neck to meet his face. "Goku, they're going to bring you to your new home. If you want, you could always visit. Just, don't forget me, alright?" Goku blinked at Sunshine before turning to meet the teary gazes of Twilight and Trixie. "Oh, hi! I'm Goku!" He stated with a cheer. The mares exchanged a glance before going forward to wrap their forelegs around the colt with a cry of happiness.
