Becoming a Princess

I stared out the window as the rain fell softly. It was so beautiful even here in Manehattan, where everything lovely is destroyed to make skyscrapers.

"Pearl, Pearl!" My stepmother, Roseluck said. "Yes, Roseluck?" I said pulling my "perfect little teenage filly" voice, reserved for Roseluck and teachers. "What are you doing for your audition?" She blabbered on about the school's spring musical of Beauty and the Beast. Everypony was required to audition at least for one production, and I had been auditioning ever since Dad got remarried.

"I've got it! Sing 'Belle' it's meant to be." Big surprise, Roseluck was never that original. I fantasized a zipper across her mouth, and laughed as we entered the school.

"Okay Meet me in the auditorium at two. Okay?" She answered. "Hey Pearly." said Dagger. Dagger was your basic annoying rebel jock. All the ponies swooned over him, I seemed to be the only one who refused to love him. Unfortunately, I was currently his marefriend, because though I hate him, he's my dad's boss. "So what are we doing for Hearts and Hooves Day?" He put his arm around me. "Go away, freak." I mumbled as he kissed my cheek. I smacked him in the face. "Woo! I like 'em feisty and fiery.!" He continued to bother me thankfully I had Gym and Math without him.

Otherwise, it was torture to sit with him lustfully staring at me. As if! I was tutoring him every Monday, where I focused on studies and he tried my patience. Finally it was two. I pushed Dagger away and ran to the auditorium. Which was more torture?! Roseluck or Dagger?

I ran to the front row where several fillies sat annoyed. "Ah Pearl we were just finishing." Rose said she pushed me to the stage.

"Bedazzle.Me." She said.  I stared to the back of the stage  as Magnifying Glass winked.

I began to sing.

I sit where I see them,

Watching where they can't see.

I know all their names, their lives,their favorite things!

I've known them all my lives but they don't know me!

I've stayed here in silence

writing in this notebook,

Quickly taking glances

Oh! they notice my looks,

Hoping, Dreaming for a social rest

Oh my gosh there's so much stress,

Hurry up smile for the camera's flash

I've needed a protector,

but to no avail.

But I'm just the secondary character

For this Modern Fairy Tale.

There's no prince for the maid,

No happy ending

I'm genuinely afraid

I've gone on the journey,

Why do the back up mares

never get the guy?

Who says  a mare can't

control her own her own destiny,

Why can't I just stop these emotions

Why can't I find the key.

Guess this mare is ready to control her own destiny!

As I finished the song. My horn glowed. My back began to burn. I rose and sent from my horn a flash went through my horn and

froze everyone in sight. I screamed. A flash came and all of a sudden Princess Celestia was standing before me and she looked angry. "You're coming with me." I was transported into a room. "You'll be living here from now on. I have erased all memory of everyone who's every known you."

"What?"I said, but she had disappeared.I fell to the floor. Then I noticed a pair of wings on my back. A note appeared next to me.

My Dear Pearl,

Welcome to the castle! I hope you enjoy your life here!

You're stuck in this castle for the rest of your life kid.

Also I would enjoy a song every now and then.
