Rainbow Falls and Fiery Storms

"No,” I whispered, devastated, as I watched my number one fan and secret crush, Rainbow Dash, canter away from Fleetfoot and I. “I will not lose you again.” Suddenly, I was transported back to the Grand Galloping Gala last year. Ignoring Dash, not talking to her, just because I was scared. Scared of being denied, scared that she wouldn’t understand. Scared of having my hopes and dreams crushed underhoof.
No. Never again, I thought. “I’ll be back!” I said to Fleetfoot, and galloped after my receding love.
Catching up, I tapped her on the shoulder with my hoof and said “I’m sorry, Rainbow Dash.” She acted like I wasn’t even there. “Dash?”
She turned and looked at me, and the look in her magenta eyes stunned me. They were cold as ice, none of the care I would see in them when she was with her friends was there. Then she turned away and flew off to join her team. I was stunned, frozen in place, lost in the roiling storm of my own mind. What have I done? Was I that mean? Oh, no… what if she doesn’t love me back? Are all my dreams gone? Crushed in a moment… in a moment… oh, why was I such an idiot? Fleetfoot seemed to instinctively know that I was upset. We flew back to headquarters in silence. I went straight to bed, and cried myself to sleep.
Rainbow Dash
I unlocked the door to my room and collapsed on my bed, exhausted after our practice. I thought we had a chance of qualifying for the Games now, now that I had shaken off my Wonderbolt-induced stupor and gotten back to my job. Wait a second...Wonderbolts. Spitfire...she had came up to me after she confessed to lying about Soarin’s broken wing and tried to apologise, and I had cold-shouldered her like a complete jerk. Have I really turned her down? Oh, have I completely ruined my chances of her ever loving me? Everything’s gone wrong. I thought I would have a chance to talk to her, to tell her how I really felt, and I blew it. I’m an idiot, I really am. Thinking about the captain of the Wonderbolts, followed by ponyrazzi every second of her life, ever loving me, the lowly Ponyville weather team captain, that is a complete fantasy. But I can’t seem to get her out of my head, that tiny glimmer of hope there that she really has a crush on me. My last thought is of Spitfire as I drift away into sleep.
