The Galloping Dead
Chapter 6: The Pink Disaster
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAll was silent… Talking was probably just going to make things awkward. But I don’t know the way and Dash was just walking. I had to talk. I needed to at least know what and where our destination was. Were we still going after Pinkie Pie? Has our mission just become a long suicide trip? I don’t know.
“So, where are we going now?” I asked.
Dash let out a sigh and looked at me. “Pinkie Pie’s place. She might be able to shelter us if she’s still at her rock farm.”
“Good…” I responded with a voice of desperation.
We stopped talking and started walking again. While we walked we killed some Remnants and drank a little water to keep us hydrated. “Are we almost there? Where exactly is this rock farm?” I asked, for we have been walking for hours upon hours. It was night, and that’s when the Remnants seemed most active. “There” She responded while she motioned her hoof in a direction where the rock farm was.
I looked into the window with hope for a sign of life. There was! There was a candle burning in the window. Dash noticed it too. She smiled. We ran towards the building, but before we could make it bullets were being shot at us! They must’ve thought we were Remnants! I had grabbed a flair I had in my pouch and lit it to ensure them we’re alive. When I did this they stopped firing and let us get closer. When we got there we were greeted with a bitter old voice yelling at us.
“Who are you!?” The old voice was even older than I had thought!
“I’m Fire Bur-“ Rainbow Dash interrupted me.
“It’s Rainbow Dash. I’m one of Pinkie Pies friend. Let us in!” Dash wasn’t even asking. She was demanding!
“Ugh. You. Fine, fine come in.” The old voice opened the door and let us in. “Pinkie’s this way.”
We walked towards the room where she told us to go. I didn’t really want to go in. There were noises in there that I didn’t like. Crashing noises and laughter. Were there people in there? Were they killing someone or something? I had no idea what to think of the noises. But I went in anyways.
I walked in and all I saw was a pink Pony jumping on the walls and destroying everything. “Pinkie Pie! Calm down!” Dash yelled. Pinkie Pie stopped and screamed. “Dashie! You’re okay! I was so worried! What about the others? Do you know anything about them?” I looked at Dash. Once again, I had to do the explaining. “Rarity’s dead. I don’t know about any ‘other’ Ponies. But I can tell you that much.” As I said that, tears were starting to swell up in the pink Ponies eyes. I didn’t want to bring it up, knowing what I had done to prevent her to become a Remnant. “How did she die…?” The pink Pony asked. I didn’t want to say it, but I had to tell the truth. “I killed her she died with a bullet to the head befo-“ I couldn’t finish because I found myself knocked onto the floor and being repeatedly kicked by Pinkie. They were kicks of fury. “You killed her! I’ll return the favor you.. YOU!!!” Dash kicked Pinkie Pie in the face as hard as she could, which had knocked her out for a bit.
We decided while she was knocked out, to just go meet her family. But strangely, they were all gone. So we stole some food from the food cabinet (Which by the way took about forever to find.) and ate while we waited for the pink Pony to awake from her hit to the face. Which, by the way, also took forever.
Finally, after an hour or so, the pink Pony woke up and was too tired to attack. Which was lucky for me because she’s stronger than she looks. “Wh-Why did you kill Rarity…?” I don’t like explaining when I use the term Remnant. So I said the simplest most understandable thing I could think of. “She started to turn. Her sister bit her.” Simple enough. She even stopped looking sad. “I’ve seen things happen like that all the time. My sibling killed my other sibling. I didn’t even know she was bit!” She wiped the tears from her eyes and started to smile. “What’s your name?” She asked. “I’m Fire Burst.” She looked at Dash and had this smile like she knew something. I didn’t want to ask, because I’m afraid to know the answer.
“So… Pinkie… It’s glad to, uh, see you’re okay… We’ll just be going now!” Dash nervously said, also seeing the smile.
“Oh you don’t have to leave now, silly! Dashie, you and that fire guy can stay here for a bit! That is, until we’re low on food.” Pinkie wanted us to stay, but I can see why Dash wanted to leave. This Pony was insane. She seemed to be awkward in all ways possible. Why did I feel so unsafe around this Pony? I have never feared for my life more when I thought that meant I had to sleep here. Who knew what she would do to us when we fell asleep. She could do something stupid or minor, like putting out hooves in warm water, or she could do something more serious like poison or just a flat out bullet to the head. I didn’t feel safe around this Pony.
“Oh, um, you don’t have to that, Pinkie! We’ll be, uh, just fine on our own?” My God, Dash was the worst person to ask to get out of a pinch like this ever. She added ‘um’ and ‘uh’ to about every other word! So it was made pretty much certain that we would have to stay here. I’m sleeping with a few guns tonight.
“Pinkie, we’re back. Did your friend and her companion leave yet?” Pinkie’s old Mother returned from who knows where.
“No, Mom, they’re going to stay here a bit and help us out with the farm and the small infection things out there.” Pinkie answered her. Now that she had said that we were pretty much being forced to stay here.
“Eh… Why did you invite two people I know hardly a thing about to stay in my house?” The Mother responded to Pinkie’s previous statement. I felt like we were going to get off the hook with staying here, but her Mother said something that made us stay. “I guess that’s a good thing. We’ll just give ‘em a little grub throughout the day and we get some labor, and also a bit of company.” When she said that last thing it made me realize that there wasn’t a father here.
“Here! Let me show you two to your rooms!” Pinkie motioned her hoof up the stairs. We followed her as she walked down the upstairs hallway. “Here, Dashie! You can have this room! It was my two sisters old room! But there not here anymore.” Dash walked into the room. It was pretty dull and had a few small toys in it. “And, uh, Fire Burst was it? You can have this one.” She points to a room across the hall from Dash’s and pushes me into it. There was one small bed and a little chest with a few farming tools in it. “Well you two, it’s off to bed while I go and set up the defenses for tonight!” I walked into my room and Dash walked into hers. My room didn’t have a window, so I took an old light bulb and used a spell to turn it on for light. I looked at my bed and noticed there wasn’t even a pillow. Great. I get an ultra small bed and a nonexistent pillow. Woohoo. This is going to be the best sleep I’ve ever had. I’m joking really. Sleeping on the ground was comfier than this old crusty bed.
I walked down the hall because I had to use the restroom. When I did, I look out the window and notice Pinkie Pie at a bar across the farm setting off a self firing turret. Where the heck did she get that kind of technology!? I’ve only seen those once, and that was when I went to Apploosa when I traveled alone! This Pony was surely crazy! Why does she need a turret to take out a few Remnants? With us being inside, the Remnants wouldn’t even see us! So they’d wander a bit and we could kill them in the morning! All this was NOT, I repeat, was NOT needed to protect a locked up house from a few mindless Remnants. I can imagine how terrible this sleep is going to be…
