It was a dark and stormy night, and princess Luna sat at one of the windows in her room. As she watched the clouds roll by, she felt a sense of serenity sweep over her as they moved almost hypnotically through the dark night sky. She had been up for a few hours, seeing as she was having difficulties sleeping, and as she stared out into the sky, she felt herself start to dose off and slowly lowered herself down to the cushioned bench she sat on, she kept her eyes out the window the entire time she did this. After finishing this action, she felt her eyes getting heavier and heavier as she watched the clouds roll by her window, and then everything went black.

Luna woke up with a start as she heard the clicking of a single hoof against the tile floor in the hallway, she laid there petrified that if she moved whatever it was would either hear her or be right in front of her, she heard the clicking stop for a moment. She slowly raised her head and turned it towards the door, trying to make as little noise as she could, she started to wonder what it could be, a guard maybe, maybe the guard had to tell Luna's sister something important, but what could it be?, she thought to herself. She slowly managed to get herself off of the bench and she quietly moved towards the door to try and eavesdrop any information she could hear from her bedroom door, seeing as she didn't want to make it obvious that she was listening to their conversation.

She reached the door and froze in her tracks as the clicking continued, this time it was getting louder as though the creature making the noise was moving towards her room, she instantly ran for her bed as quickly and quietly as she could, thinking that the guard would be coming to her room to brief her next, she closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep. Luna was then surprised when the clicking started to get quieter as the creature walked further down the hall and through a door. Enraged Luna got out of bed and started for the door when she remembered that she wasn't supposed to leave her room at night, her sister always told her that the castle was dangerous at night

She had never understood how it could be any more dangerous at night as it was during the day, it was still a castle none the less, and she didn't find it to be that dangerous during the day, so she didn't have a problem with it now. she poked her head out of the door, it was too dark for even Luna to see anything, her horn started to glow, as though there were a dimmer switch on it, and she made sure the hall was empty before her magic lit up the entirety of the hallway and she could see every detail, including the closed door of her sister's room she felt a wave of relief flow over herself as she saw the door was indeed closed. She then turned in the direction the clicking had disappeared to and saw one door, it was a door she knew well considering she spent most of her time in that room, that door led to the royal dining room where her and her sister ate their meals. Luna approached the door hesitantly, and slowly opened it, she stopped when there was enough room for her to squeeze her head through, she looked around the room and noticed nothing out of the ordinary.

She stood at the door wondering what to do next, the only other way out was at the other end of the long room, and it was a door leading to the kitchen where the chefs made food for the two princesses. She hesitated for a moment as she decided whether or not to go looking for whatever had walked through the hall, she then felt pleasure start to build as she chose to continue her search, a small tingling sensation was brought about by the idea of how much trouble she would get in if her sister found out about Luna's little adventure, even if it was no more than a few steps from her room. She felt her mind take over as one of her previously stiff hooves moved itself into the room and pulled the rest of her body with it, her shoulder launching the door open, she then took a few steps before the door swung back and hit her flank, surprised by being hit she froze, unaware that it was nothing more than the door.

It took her a moment to figure out what had happened, then she simple looked around to be sure no one saw, which was highly unlikely seeing as it was who knows what time. She started to walk across the room, to investigate the kitchen, which was the only place they could have gone. Her flank tingled as she walked through the room, she wasn't sure if she was feeling pleasure or pain with every step she took around the table that was centred in the room; all she knew was that she felt something. As she reached the door to the kitchen, she froze and hesitated once more as she slowly opened the door so she could enter, she had been in the kitchen quite a few times to get snacks throughout the day, the only differences now were the fact that there wouldn't be any staff and that it was darker than anything Luna had ever seen.

Luna's horn slowly started to illuminate as she entered, she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary as she walked through the room and made an apple start levitating towards her, she then took a big bite out of it, and heard a loud crunch as her teeth broke a chunk of the sweet and juicy apple free; the sound startled her as she realized she was giving away her position to whatever she was chasing. She was again startled when she saw movement out of the corner of her eyes, her head instantly turned to face the movement and then she saw him.
