WHAT DAY IS IT?! //-------------------------------------------------------// WAIT! WHAT DAY IS IT?! By looking at Ponville's library it would have seemed normal, almost peaceful. And you would be right, at least for a few moments. It was a seemingly normal morning in the Sparkle household. With Twilight Sparkle levitating numerous books around herself, studying even though it was only 7 in the morning. Spike the dragon was making breakfast. Everything seemed seemingly normal. That was until Twilight looked at the calendar. "WAIT TODAY IS WHAT" Twilight screeched "I thought that wasn't for another month. Oh how time flies." Twilight began to run around the library frantically pulling out random papers and looking frantic. "What's wrong Twi" asked Spike. "Spike do you know what today is" Twilight asked frantically. "I don't know the 11th" Spike answered. "Yes but what month" Twilight pushed. "May" Spike answered casually. "Exactly its Mother's Day. I didn't realize it was today" Twilight franticly spoke "But thanks to my planning skills I seem to have it planned". "Now lets see what I have to get ready for" she said as she began to look through her many notes. While Twilight was frantically figuring out what he was to do, Spike was experiencing his own problems. 'Ugh today is Mothers Day' he though ' It's the one holiday I absolutely hate". Spike began to head upstairs to get away from Twilight's worrying. He went and flopped down on his bed and began to think of all the past Mother's Days. Every year they reminded Spike of the fact that his Mother was a dragon, who knows where. Twilight would do something with her mom and every year she would ask him if he would like to come and he normally would say yes. But it was always an awkward outing for him. 'This year though' Spike thought 'I'm going to make sure that I have a decent Mother's Day'. Twilight was able to piece together that she had reservations to a restaurant and that her mother would come in about an hours. Twilight was able to breath now with the fact that she had everything under control. "Spike" Twilight called "Do you want to come down to the station with me to get my mom". "No" Spike called back down as he finished his plan for a decent time. He then waited for Twilight to leave. When he heard the front door close he rushed down the stairs and slipped out the door. Spike then started to head to the market to find out what his friends were going to do. He looked around and saw the Crusaders running through the market area. He ran over calling for there attention. "Hey guys, have anything planned for today" Spike asked hopefully. "Yeah Spike I'm going be seein' my folks" Applebloom answered. "Wait no intention to sound rude, but you have parents. I mean I've just never seen them around" Spike said. "Well they both work for the rodeo" Applebloom answered "But they travel alot so I don't seem 'em often". "Oh, well what about you Scootaloo" Spike asked. "Spending time with my mom. Duh" Scootaloo said "You know what you do on Mother's Day." Spike hesitated from saying that he doesn't exactly do that. "Oh well what about you Sweetie Belle" Spike asked. "Im going to spend time with my mom and sister. Were going to this restaurant and I made her this picture..' Sweetie Belle prattled off at Spike. "Oh well great good for you Sweetie" Spike said cutting her off. Before the others could say anything else Spike ran off. When he was out of site of his friends he saw that he was by the train station. He was about to turn back and head back to town when he heard Twilight call out to him. "Spike, you decided to come after all! I was meaning to ask you do you want to go out to eat with us" Twilight asked with a hint of hopefulness in her voice. "Umm no thanks Twilight" Spike responded "I have....other plans". "Oh well I guess we see you later then" Twilight said with some disappointment. "Oh I was looking forward to talk with you Spike" Twilight Velvet called over her shoulder as she and her daughter walked away. Spike watched as they walked away regretting for a second not taking up her offer but remembered that he had a plan to follow and needed to go to his next stop. After walking a little further he came to Fluttershy's cottage and knocked on the door. "Oh Spike how are you" Fluttershy asked when she answered the door. "Oh just fine Fluttershy, I was umm wondering what you were planning on doing today" Spike asked. "Oh well my Mother should be arriving soon. I plan to spend some time catching up with her" Fluttershy answered. "That's great Flutters. Glad your going to have a nice day" Spike said. "Is everything alright Spi- Mother hi so good to see you come in" Fluttershy quickly cut of when she saw her Mom. "Hello dear. Are you going to invite me inside" Fluttershy's asked. "Oh yes Mother. Sorry Spike we can talk later" Fluttershy said. Then after her mom was is the cottage she closed the door behind her. Spike sighed and walked away. 'There has to be one of my friends who's not doing anything today'. As he walked to his other friend's house's he found similar results. Rainbow Dash was flying off to see her mom and Pinkie's mom was already with her. "So So Sorry Spikey but I haven't seen my Mommy in like forever" Pinkie had said to him. "Pinkamina, dear we saw each other 6 months ago for your sisters birthday" Pinkie's mom replied to her. Defeated Spike walked away. He had thought at least SOMEONE would have not been doing something. But apparently he was wrong. If only he knew his mom was. Then Spike thought of something. "That's it" Spike cried out loud "I'll go ask Zecora if she can help me". He knew that no one went in there alone. Except for maybe Pinkie Pie but still it was dangerous. Twilight always told him to never go in there alone. But he was on a mission. He began to walk into the foliage and started down the path to Zecora's. Twilight waved her mother off from the train station and when the train was a dot on the horizon she walked back home. Opening the door she called out for Spike. "Spike, Im home" Twilight called. When it was a few minutes after she had called. She decided to head upstairs figuring he was asleep but when he was not in his bed she called out again. "Spike are you here?" When no response came she figured he was somewhere in town. She didn't want to worry but she decided to go find him anyway. As she walked into the market place she looked around for Spike seeing him no where she figured she could just ask somebody. "Hello Lily have you happened to see Spike today" Twilight asked. "Oh yes he I saw him about an hour ago heading towards the Everfree" Lily responded. Twilight thanked her and began to walk towards the Everfree. 'Spike wouldn't go in there' Twilight thought to herself. I've told him numerous times to never go in there alone.' But Twilight continued to trot on towards the forest. Spike was now beginning to regret his decision. With every step deeper into the thick foliage he regretted his decision. But he wanted answers so he continued onwards. But soon the landmarks he was following disappeared. The path he was following was no longer there. "Calm down Spike" he said out loud "Just walk back in the direction you came". Turning around he began to head back in the direction he had come. But within a few minutes he found himself in a clearing and utterly lost. Spike sat down defeated. He just hoped Twilight would come looking for him before it got. Sighing he tried to keep himself from crying. But eventually his feelings betrayed him and he began to cry. But seconds later he thought he heard something. Listening harder he heard someone yelling. "Spike, Spike, are you out there" the mysterious pony called. Spike jumped up and began to walk around the edge of the clearing looking for them. The voice was getting closer but he couldn't see anyone. "Spike there you are I was so worried!" the voice called. This time Spike looked up into the sky and saw Twilight swooping down to the clearing. Spike ran towards his savior, running into her open hooves. "Spike never do that again" Twilight said to him with relief "But why in Equestria did you come into the Everfree without someone else!?". Spike looked up at the stern mare and didn't know how to explain. "Well" she said waiting for his answer. "I wanted to go see Zecora, to see if she could find out who my parents. I hate Mother's Day. I always feel left out and I couldn't just go with you and your Mom again. But everyone else was spending time with their mom's..." Spike said beginning to tell his story when Twilight put her hoof over his mouth. "Calm down Spike, why on earth did you feel like you didn't have anyone to spend Mother's Day with?" Twilight questioned him. "Well I don't have a mom or a family. I mean you and the others are like my family, but your not really" Spike answered. "Why on earth would you think where not your family?". "Well families look like each other. Im not a pony, Im a dragon". "You can still spend Mother's Day with me and my mother". "But Twi your not my Mom. My Mom is a dragon". "Just because Im a pony and your dragon does not ,mean I can't be you mom". "Well why would you be my mom?". "Maybe because I feel like your......." Twilight stopped herself in mid sentence. "Wait what were you going to say? That you fell like my?" Spike questioned her. "Nothing Spike, come on lets go home" "No not until you finish what you where going to say" "Really Spike?" "Yes" "Fine" Twilight said "I was going to say that.... I feel like your Mom". "What wait!? You mean you think of me like a son?" "Yes, Spike can we go now?". "Wait your not joking with are you?". "No Spike Im not. No we can we go". "I would have never guessed. I don't know what to think". "This is why I didn't want to tell you" "But what if I thought that you where like a Mom to me?" Spike questioned her. "Well do you?" "Yeah I mean your like a Mom to me. You act like moms do to their kids to me". "Spike, you don't know how happy that makes me" Twilight said with tears in her eyes. Walking back over to him she pulled him into a hug. "Oh Spike I guess we should talk about this but we are in the middle of the Everfree so we should go home and talk about this". "Yeah I think that's a good idea". After reaching the library Twilight and Spike sat down and began to talk. "So you really think of me as a mom?" Twilight asked again for the tenth time. "Yes Twilight for the tenth time YES!" Spike responded. "But it would be weird if we addressed each other as such" "No Twilight Im fine with calling you my mom." "Oh well umm I don't exactly know what to do know. I guess I should meet with Celestia to speak about your adoption" "Heh yeah we'll be the weirdest family around" "What do you mean by that?" Twilight asked. "Well you know a pony and a dragon. An odd bunch just as roommates but as mother and son.." Spike began. "Don't say that Spike so what your fine with being a dragon and calling me a pony your mother why should that bother you?" "I don't know I guess I don't really want to be a dragon sometimes" "Why Spike?" "I mean don't get me wrong being a dragon is great, I mean I have hands but I guess I would rather be a pony. Those older dragons during the migration were mean but they were kinda right about one thing. I am more of a pony then dragon." "Well Spike I would love you either way, dragon or pony. But your a dragon, and I can't change that" "I know Twi- Mom you can't fix that but I can still wish" Twilight pulled Spike in for another hug and they sat in silence for awhile. Then Twilight's horn flared to light and surrounded Spike in an magenta color. "What's happening!" Spike yelled. "I don't know, Im not doing" Twilight said looking up at her horn. Then the magic consumed Spike and Twilight looked away as a bright light blinded her and filled the downstairs of the library. "Spike are you ok" Twilight said still blinded. "Yeah but I feel kinda weird" Spike responded. Regaining her sight Twilight turned to look at Spike and what she saw shocked her. Where Spike had been stood a purple unicorn colt with green spikey hair. "Spike?" Twilight asked the colt. "Yeah" the colt who was apparently Spike replied. "Your a pony!" Twilight yelled. "Gah how did this happen!" Spike exclaimed as he at is hands, now hooves. "You wished and it was granted" said a voice that came from thin air. "What?" Twilight and Spike said in unison. Then once again a light filled up the room and Celestia appeared. "Spike" she said "As you know alicorns have a immense power of magic. Most of it can be unknown. Some magic can be performed that has never been discovered and may never be just because they are emotional. Because Twilight was ecstatic of the fact you accepted her as a mother but seeing you sad made her wish to make you happy. Her magic fulfilled these wants by turning you into who you wanted to be." Celestia answered. Both ponies were stunned at her answer but after what she said made sense to Twilight she nodded and said "I understand my magic responded to something I wanted." "Correct Twilight and I understand that you wanted to speak to me about Spike's adoption but don't worry I will arrange for your names to be put on the paper. Now goodnight you too I expect I will hear from you soon Twilight.". Then with another flash of light Celestia was gone. Twilight still having to understand what Celestia had said decided it was best not to worry about at the moment. All she knew that she was soon to be Spike's legal mother and that's all she need to know. Turning to Spike she said "Come on Spike time for bed.". Spike nodded his head and said "Okay Mom, goodnight".
