Chapter 1
Children of Chaos chapter 1
"Wha? Where am i?" I awoke to a strange environment. It was chaotic, to say the least. There were bits and pieces of buildings floating around, and the sky was like a kaleidoscope, except the colors were blurred together.
"Finally, i have found you." A voice said from behind me. I whipped around to see one of the craziest creatures i have ever seen. It had the head of a donkey, two mismatched horns and wings, a lions paw, a eagles claw, a snakes leg, and a goat's hoof. I instinctively backed up.
"Who are you?" I asked, not wanting to seem rude. I suppose it failed, for he looked hurt.
"I would hope that you would remember your father." He said. I froze, staring at him.
"M-my father? How could you be my father? We're not even the same species!" I yelled at him, angry. He winced at my outburst. He snapped his talons, and i saw black, and fell unconscious, I didn't know you could get knocked out in dreams. When i woke up, everything was the same. The strange creature was standing over me. "Go away." I muttered, waving a paw at him. "Trying to sleep." I closed my eyes, before realizing I had a new appendage. "What the!!!" I screamed, fully waking up. I leaped to my feet, or lizard's claw and goat's hoof. "What have you done to me!" I yelled at the creature.
"I have only shown you your true form. You are a Child of Chaos." When he said chaos, I knew who he was.
"Discord." I said darkly. When he said that, he grinned so big that his smile fell off his face.
"You remember me! Great! I can stop being so serious!" Discord said, his mouth still on the ground, he started making cotton candy clouds that rained chocolate milk. He turned away, making more chaos. I looked around, looking for a way to escape. Suddenly, a door appeared. I glanced towards Discord, and made a break for the door. I opened it, and right as I went through, Discord turned around to see me rush through the door. His smile turned into a sad frown. "I guess he wasn't ready. He will be one day, But I guess not today."
I woke with a start. I looked frantically at the room to make sure I was really awake.
"THANE!!!" A voice yelled from down below, making me jump. "BREAKFAST'S READY!!!!"
"COMING TWILIGHT!!!!" I yelled back. I glanced around again. Yep, this was my room at the library. It had been a month since I had come to Equestria. I paused at getting ready. It had been a month since some, unidentified magic had brought me here. I had given up  
hope that I would ever get home, and I had accepted that Equestria was my new home. I had made many new friends here, and to be honest, I don't to go. Equestria was so much better than earth. Back on Earth, there was war, pollution, racism, sexism. But here, on Equestria, none of that existed. It was such a peaceful place, exept for when monsters and evil creatures attack. Thankfully, those are few and far between, but it still happens. I finished getting ready, and walked downstairs. Twi and Spike were in the kitchen, arguing about something.
"Twilight. Please let me make breakfast, i'm better at it." Spike was saying.
"You are also only a baby, I dont want you to hurt yourself." Twilight argued back.
"What's going on?" I asked. They jumped, and turned to look at me.
"Thane!" Twilight said brightly. "Good morning sleepyhead, you're up really late."
"Had a weird dream, I'll tell you about it later. So whats with the arguing? I came down for breakfast and find two of my best friends fighting about what?" I said.
"Twilight won't let me cook breakfast by myself." Spike complained.
"He's only a baby, he might hurt himself." Twilight told me. I thought about both their arguments and came up with a compromise.
"Ok, Twi, let Spike make breakfast, and before you argue, let me give you a reason. The one time you cooked breakfast, I was puking for three hours. And Spike." I told him. "Let Twilight supervise, she's right, you are just a kid, neither one of us wants you to get hurt." I said with a smile. Twilight smiled back, then followed Spike into the kitchen, I followed suit. I sat at the table while they made pancakes. There were no accidents, and a couple minutes later, we were all eating at the table.
“So, Thane, what was this strange dream you had?” Twilight asked me. I finished my pancakes.
“Have you ever heard of a Child Of Chaos?” I asked her. She froze, her fork halfway between her mouth and her plate. She put down her fork.
“Spike, how’s about you go to Rarity’s and see if she need’s help.” She told him. He nodded and ran out the door. “Thane, follow me.” She said, walking towards the library. I followed her Into the main library. She walked over to a bookshelf, and pulled a book named, Chaos Falls. The bookshelf swung backwards, revealing a staircase. We walked down it, and through the door at the bottom, revealed a weird site. There were pictures of creature off all shapes and sizes. I saw ponies, and all other sorts of creatures, but there were no humans. There was a slam behind me. I whipped around to see Twilight in front of the door. Her horn was glowing brightly.
“Uh, Twilight, what’s going on?” I asked her nervously. She glared at me.
“Who are you?” She asked me.
“Thane-” I started.
“NO! Who are you really!?” She yelled. I winced.
“I don't know what you mean.” I told her. Apparently, that was the wrong answer, because I was thrown against the wall.
“GAH!!!!” I yelled in pain. I glared at her. “WHAT THE BUCK WAS THAT FOR TWILIGHT!!!!!” I yelled at her.
“ANSWER THE BUCKING QUESTION!!! WHO ARE YOU!!!!” She yelled at me.
“I AM THANE KULL, I AM YOUR FRIEND!!!!!” I shouted back.
“YOU ARE NOT THANE!!! THANE IS NOT A CHILD OF CHAOS!!!!” She kept yelling, she sounded close to tears. I took a breath.
“Twilight, what is a Child Of Chaos? I heard about them in that dream I had last night. Discord came to me, and he told me that I was a Child Of Chaos. What are they? And please don't throw me against a wall again, it hurts.” She took a breath, but didn't let me down.
“Ok, Thane, a Child Of Chaos is a spawn of discord, he creates them to continue his reign of chaos and disharmony. Their powers never show up, until their 16th birthday.” She paused, and I remembered that I turned 16 on Hearts and Hooves day. “They always follow in their father’s, as he likes them to call him, footsteps, creating chaos, and such. One thing that most people don't know about me and Spike, we hunt the Children Of Chaos.” She said, her horn starting to glow again.
“So, you just kill anyone, no matter if they haven't done anything, even if they're your best friend? What would happen if RD was a Child Of Chaos?! Would you kill her?!” I said to her. She faltered.
“I-I would give her a chance.”
“Give me that chance, lock me up, do whatever the princess wants to do to me, but give me a chance.” I pleaded with her. She looked apprehensive, but let me down. I started to walk towards her, but she shied away.
“Just stay away! I’m giving you a chance, but, you're not my friend, not for the moment.” I nodded. Just at that moment, Spike ran down the stairs. “Twilight! If you're done-” He stopped as he saw me standing there. “Why is it still here?” He said.
“Twilight’s giving me a chance, she’s going to bring me to Princess Celestia, and she will decide what to do to me. And, It? I thought we were friends Spike.” I said, starting to become sad. He scoffed.
“I’m not friends with evil.” It was official, my heart was destroyed. These were the ponies and dragon who took me in, calling me evil. I sat on the ground, shattered. “Twilight, Princess Celestia wants the elements too go to Canterlot.” He glared at me. “Bring IT with us.”
A half hour later, we were on the train to Canterlot. I was sitting alone in a compartment, staring out the window. There was a knock at the door.
“It’s open.” I called, still staring out the window. The door opened.
“You ok there Sugarcube?” I heard AppleJack say. I sighed.
“If you mean by ok, that I’m an evil creature, destined to spread chaos everywhere, then yeah, I’m super.” I said sarcastically. I could practically hear her blink. “Twilight didn't tell you? I am apparently a spawn of Discord, a Child Of Chaos, who is created to spread chaos.”
“And how would Twilight know?”
“I can't say. I’ll let Twilight tell you when she’s ready. Pester her if you want, but I’m not telling. She might betray her friends, but I don't.” I told her. “Now, please, just leave.”
“Sugarcube, I don't think-”
“LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!” I roared, whipping around. Applejack jumped back in fear. I realized what I did, and turned back towards the window. “I’m sorry, but please, just, leave me alone.” I heard the door close, and I laid back on the seat, and fell into an uneasy sleep.

AppleJack hunted around the train for Twilight. She found her talking with the Mane six and Spike.
“Hey, AJ, what’s up?” RD asked.
“Twilight, may I speak to you?” AppleJack asked her. Twilight nodded and started to walk towards the door.
“No. I want to talk to you here, in front of everypony else.” Twilight looked confused, but nodded. “Now, what’s this about Thane being a Child Of Chaos?” She asked her. Twilight froze, then looked at her with a calm face.
“How much did he tell you?” She asked.
“Nothing, he left that to you, all I know is that he is a Child Of Chaos. But he said that you betrayed him.” Now everypony froze.
“Well, the cat’s out of the bag, me and Spike hunt creatures called Children Of Chaos. They are spawns of Discord, spirit of chaos and disharmony. They are created by Discord himself to spread chaos. We hunt them, and kill them, before they can do harm to Equestria and her citizens. I don't know why, but I didn't kill Thane, I should though.” Twilight said, practically not caring. Everypony else was shocked.
“You would, kill, Thane? The absolute gentlecolt who has helped us more times than we can count?! You would just kill him? Without a second thought?!” Rarity asked.
“Well, yeah, he’s a creature of evil, and chaos.” Twilight said, starting to get annoyed. “What’s wrong? In a short time, he’ll become just like Discord.” Rarity scoffed, and started to walk out the door. “Where are you going?” Twilight asked.
“To comfort Thane, the poor dear must be heartbroken, he was betrayed by the ponies he loved most.” Rarity said, walking out the door. Fluttershy, AJ, and RD followed suit. Before RD left, she gave Twilight a scathing look.
“Not cool Twi, Not cool.” RD said before leaving. Pinkie Pie was the last to leave. Her hair was flat, and her coat and mane was a dull pink, instead of the bright pink that she usually is. Twilight gave her a pleading look. Pinkie looked at Twilight, and punched her, hard, in the face, which sent Twilight sprawling, before walking out of the compartment. Spike ran over to Twilight and gave her a huge hug.
“Have I done the right thing?” She said, mostly to herself.
Back to me.
I woke up from another Discord dream. He was trying to convince me to embrace my Chaos heritage. I kept saying no, but he was persistent. I groaned, and sat up. There was another knock at my door.
“May we come in darling?” I heard Rarity’s voice ask.
“Yeah, sure, just, please, don’t scream.” I stood back into the shadow’s as the door opened. AppleJack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy, came in the door.
“Why would we scream sugarcube?” AJ asked. I sighed, and stepped into the light. I could tell that most of them were trying to hold back screams, mostly Fluttershy. I was a mix of a Human, and a Draconequus, I had semi horns growing on my head, small wings fluttered out of my back, my right arm was becoming furry, and the palm on that hand was starting to turn into the padded part of a lions paw. My left arm was becoming more like an eagle's talon, with claws and such. My right leg was turning blue and scaly, with claws where the toes should be. My Left leg was a complete goat hoof, it was the first part of me to finish fully transforming.
“This is me, now, I guess Discord and Twilight was right, I am a Child Of Chaos, a creature of disharmony.” I said, dejected. “Why are you here?” I asked them.
“We’re here to comfort you, Twilight was wrong, we know you, and you would never hurt us on purpose.” Fluttershy said.
“Yeah, I wouldn't, but for how much longer will I be me?” I asked them. Before they could answer, an announcement came over the loudspeakers.
“We will be arriving in Canterlot in 5 minutes.” I sighed.
“Well, I guess it’s time for me to accept my fate, whatever that may be.”
“Well, anyway, Thane, I really don't think you want everypony to see you like they way you are, so take this cloak, I always have one for my friends in case it rains, and I just made one for you recently.” She floated out a human sized cloak out of her saddlebags. I looked at the cloak greatfuly.
“Thanks Rarity.” I said
We arrived at the station, and we walked out, me under the cloak. We walked towards the castle, thankfully, me not drawing much attention to myself. But I could feel myself changing more and more as we walked. We made our way to the castle, but the guards stopped us.
“HALT! WHO GOES THERE!?!” One of them yelled.
“Twilight Sparkle, and The Elements of Harmony. We are here to see Princess Celestia.”
“Who is the person in the cloak?”
“I need to bring him to the Princess.”
“Very well, proceed.” The guards let us past, and we walked into the throne room.
“Twilight! How good it is to see you! Who is the person with you?” She asked.
“Hello Princess.” I said shortly. She was surprised.
“Oh, Hello Thane, why are you wearing that cloak?” She asked. I sighed.
“Promise not to try to kill me when you see me?” I asked. She looked surprised.
“Y-yes.”
“Pinkie Promise?”
“Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” She went through the motions. I was satisfied, and I took off the cloak. Her eyes widened, but she didn't move to kill me like I expected her too. I was now a full blown Draconequus, with wings and everything.
“Yep, I am a Child Of Chaos, with everything it entails.” I said, walking towards a pillar, and sitting against it. “My life is officially over, Twilight and Spike, They only people in this world that I consider to be my real family, no offense, guys, you helped me a lot to assimilate into this world, but Twilight and Spike, they found me and they took me in, and I feel like my little brother and my big sister tried to kill me- oh wait they did!” I said, shooting a glare at Twilight and Spike. “I just don't know what to do…” I said, setting my head into my arms. I could sense Celestia standing over me.
“I only have one question for you.” She said. I looked up at her.
“Yeah?”
“Do you have an overwhelming desire to wreak chaos and havoc?”
“No, No I don't, I feel like I could enjoy chaos more, but that’s all.” I told her. She was silent for a moment.
“Ok, Twilight, Elements, something that I have feared for over 1,000 years, has finally happened.” Twilight gasped.
“You don't mean…” Celestia nodded.
“Yes Twilight, Discord has returned.” I looked up in shock.
“How?” I asked. Celestia sighed.
“I, do not know, somehow, he has gained enough chaotic energy to restore himself.” I stiffened as I felt a familiar presence.
“He’s here.” I said, drawing the attention of everypony.
“How do you know that?” Celestia asked. I shrugged.
“I don't know, it’s like, I can, feel his presence. You have to get the elements of harmony, they are they only thing’s that can stop him.” Celestia nodded, and rushed off to get the elements, with us in tow. When we reached the vault, it was empty.
“How?!” Celestia exclaimed. “Luna and I are the only ones who can enter the vault!” Suddenly, an evil laugh rang throughout the hall.
“Oh, dear me, Celestia, where have your precious elements of harmony gone?” Discords voice rang out throughout the hall.
“Discord. Show yourself!” Celestia ordered. More evil laughter.
“Now, why would I do that? Its no fun if I’m ordered to do it.” He said. I had enough of this annoyance. I stood up and yelled.
“Face me Discord!!!! Or are you too much of a coward to face your son!?” There was a pause. A bright flash of light appeared in the hall. When it dissipated, there he was, Discord, god of chaos and disharmony. His face was an expression of disbelief.
“T-thane? What are you doing here?” I glared at him.
“Oh, nothing much, ever since you sent me that dream, my best friends have tried to kill me, and I turned into this, what the buck do you think!” I shouted at him. He winced, then looked looked at the Mane six.
“You tried to kill my son?” He said, in a deadly calm voice.
“No, I did.” Twilight said. Discord turned to her, his face a image of complete rage.
“Then prepare to die.” He said, snapping his fingers. A second later, Twilight was tied up against a slab, with the rest of us frozen, save for me. “Thane, I told you they would turn on you, and this proves it.” He said. He snapped his fingers, and a jagged and rusty knife appeared. “Use this on her, and embrace the chaos. I took the knife and stood in front of Twilight. She looked at me with a face of calm.
“Do it, prove me right, you’re just a beast who has to be destroyed.” I lifted the knife, but instead of cutting Twilight, I whipped around and stabbed Discord in the stomach. He gasped and fell to the ground. He gazed up at me.
“W-why?” He said weakly. I kneeled down next to him.
"you might be my creator, but your not my father. I don't hurt my friends.” I untied the ropes binding Twilight. I grabbed her and set her down. "You ok?" I asked her. She looked up at me.
"You had the chance for vengeance, yet you stab Discord, why?" She asked me.
"Discord might've created me, but he's not my family. You guys are." I told her with a smile. She looked away from me, embarrassed. "Hey." I turned her head to face me. "I don't blame you for what you did, you were only doing what you thought was right. Next time, I only ask that you give the guy a chance."
"You traitor!" I heard Discord say from behind us. I whipped around. Discord got up, and the knife was nowhere to be found. "I give you the powers of chaos, and you betray me?!?!" He yelled.
"I never wanted these powers!" I shouted back.
"I can't take them back, but I can do this!!!" He shouted, snapping his fingers. All of a sudden, I felt a great pain all over my body.
"GAHHHH!!!" I cried in pain. "Oh no you don't!" I yelled, snapping my fingers. The pain was gone, and I shot fire out of my outstretched palm, scorching Discord. While he was trying to put the flames out, I snapped my fingers again, and the rest of the elements, Spike, and Princess Celestia were unfrozen. “GO!!” I yelled to Twilight. “GET THEM OUT OF HERE, I’LL HOLD HIM OFF!!!” I turned back to Discord, who had put the flames. His eyes were blood red, and, was it me, or was he growing?
“I created you, and I can destroy you just as easily!!!” He roared. He snapped his fingers, yet again, and I felt unimaginable pain. I fell to the ground, screaming. As my vision darkened, I saw the Mane six, Princess Celestia, and Spike frozen again, with Discord walking towards them.
“N-no.” I muttered. Discord seemed to hear me, for he turned around.
“And why not?” He asked. I got up slowly, leaning against a pillar.
“Because if you do, you lose your son forever. You destroy my friends, I destroy you, even if it destroys me.” I told him. He let out another evil laugh, man, that was getting annoying.
“You? Destroy me? You have no power left!” He cackled. I snapped my fingers, and he was immobilized. I teleported everyone else out of the room, before limping towards him. I gathered all of my power, and focused it into one final blast. “If you use up all of your power, you cease to exist, you die! And even if you do manage to destroy me, it won't be permanent, or will it stop the other children!!! There are hundreds, thousands even, with more being created everyday, even with me gone!” Discord said.
“So be it.” I said, accepting my fate. I fired the blast, point blank right between Discord’s eyes, and I saw black.
While unconscious, or dead, I really didn't know at the time, I saw, things, and I could hear voices. I heard the voices of my best friends, but one stood out in particular. It was Twilight’s voice.
“Thane, I know I screwed up. I know you forgave me, even though I don't know how you forgave me, you did so. You saved us, practically sacrificing yourself in the process. I should have given you that chance. I should have known that you wouldn't become like the others. Heh. I just wish that I could tell you all of this when you were awake.” She started to leave the room.
“T-twi-l-light.” I mumbled. I heard her freeze, then rush back towards the bed.
“GIRLS!!! SPIKE!!! PRINCESS!!! I think he’s waking up!!!!!” She shouted into the next room. I heard multiple hooves rush into the room.
“Ev-everyo-one…” I mumbled again. There was a collective gasp.
“I knew I heard something!!!” Twilight said. It took a colossal effort of will to open my eyes. I saw everyone looking at me with concern. I smiled weakly.
“Hey guys…” I said weakly. Their looks of concern turned into expressions of relief.
“Thank goodness you’re alright sugarcube.” Applejack said with a smile.
“What happened to me? The last thing I remember was firing that blast at Discord. How long was I out?” I asked them.
“You were out for three weeks.” Celestia told me. My eyes bugged out.
“Th-three weeks!?” I exclaimed. “I was out for three weeks?!?!?!”
“Yes.” Celestia said. I thought struck me.
“Give me a mirror.” I said. Rarity floated a mirror over to me, and when I saw my reflection. I almost jumped for joy. “YES!!!!!! BACK TO NORMAL!!!!” I cried, before wincing. Another thought struck me. “Hmmm,” I lifted my hand, and things started floating. “Does this mean I still have my chaotic powers?” I said, in a slightly saddened tone.
“Yes, you do.” Twilight said, speaking up. “Your chaos powers are still there, but they are in a dormant state, right now, you can use basic telekinesis, and slight pyrokinesis, but your abilities will come back with practice.” She informed me. I nodded.
“Ok, but why am I in my human form?” I asked.
“We don't know, but we do think that you can switch back and forth between forms, but only for a short time. And when you are in chaos form your chaos powers are increased.” Twilight said. I was silent for a moment, before starting to get up. Suddenly, everyone was upon me.
“What on earth do you think you’re doing darling?” Rarity cried.
“I need to see what I can do for myself, I need to test out my powers. You weren't in the room at the time, but Discord told me that there are thousands of Children, with more created everyday. I need to hone my abilities if I’m gonna help you.” I said. Twilight looked surprised.
“You, want to help? But, why? After everything that I’ve ever done to you, you still want to help?” I nodded with a smirk.
“You bet your flank I want to help, if what you say is true, then my brothers and sisters will be causing chaos at every turn, and who better to help stop them then another Child Of Chaos.” I explained. “Now, is there a place where I can practice my powers without destroying something?” I asked. Twilight nodded, and we teleported out, blissfully unaware of the danger that we would come to face.
