Sparkling Apples

Apple Jack's POV

It's been years since then hasnt it.. Man.. It feels like only yesterday we were all galloping around without a care in the world. But, nothing lasts forever. Not even the happy ending we had on repeat..

"Apple Jack! Get you're darn tootin butt over here and help me with this mess!"

Turning around, I raised my head and looked behind me. Doing a final buck to the tree. My hair was a mess, twigs and dirt stuck out in ever direction. It was normal though, I mean, my job is farmin. Not like it's a suprise I look dirty today or any day really. Walking over to grandma, I sighed.

"What do ya need?"

"This little filly is havin troubles with some romanticis stuff. I know I'm old and wise but it ain't mean she don't need her sister for this.. C'mon out dear."

Facehoolfed, I looked up at her aggrivated.

"Dang, I don't have no time for this! I got over thirty more trees to go, can this wait for 'nother time?"

Then she came out from behind her. Big eyes sparkling at me as if she was trying to tell me I couldn't go or else something would eat up my soul. Darn those big eyes, works every time. I pat her on the back and nodded.

"C'mere."

Apple Bloom took me round the barn and set me down on some hay. She then nervously played with the hay looking up at me every now and then as if I was supposed to say something to help her. Sighing I tried to sympathize with her.

"Now what's this little filly doin around playin with boys? Whose the lucky guy?"

"Its.. a girl."

Well I wasn't expecting that.

"Now I ain't goin to judge you for that. Tell me who this gal is maybe i can help you."

She blushed, "Well i've liked her for awhile b-but. I ain't know how to tell her! I'm a teenager now sis, what if she stops being friends with me w-.."

Her voice trailed off. Looking at her, I smiled. "Is this one of dem cutie crusaders? I should've known.."

"Well we ain't the cutie crusaders anymore sis.. You know I got my cutie mark!"

She smiled obnoxiously pointing out her little symbol. It was a rainbow apple with stripes on it. Looked cute but never got what the rainbow symbolized. But man, was she sure happy to get it.

"Yeah, of coure i know. You were riding up and down the house yelling it out for a week straight!"

"Course I'd be d-"

CRASH. A big noise came from outside. Me and Apple Bloom looked at eachother then ran out to see what just happened.

"Hey ya'll o-"

I gasped. It was a face I haven't seen for years.. A face i didn't expect to see forever.. Tears rolling down my face as I hugged her purple body.

"Twighlight!"

"Ow! Man I still can't get used to these wings.."

Letting go of her I saw spike come out of the rubble then faint on the floor. Twighlight got up and used her horn to put her books back into her bag.

"Well I'm here for offical buisness and I thought flying would be easier to do... Guess not though.. hehe."

She looked over to spike then back to me..

"Anyways do you know where the rest of the group is? I haven't seen you all in what feels like forever! Princess Celastia sent me back here to give you all an invatation.. Apple Jack?"

I set my head down and walked away. I can't deal with this. Not now.

"Hey what's wrong?"

Apple Bloom came out and so did the rest of the family. They all gathered around her.

"Oh don't worry bout Apple Jack, she's just all down in the ditches ever since you all left Ponyvile.. Guess she feels you all left her behind.. It has been a couple years.."

"Wait, everyone left Ponyvile? When!"

I walked back to her and sighed.

"All of the folks left here years ago. When you left everyone else did too. They all got new jobs in new places.. I would've left too but I can't leave the farm. It's where I belong.."

It's where I belong.. laughing a bit I walked away once more and went into the barn where my little sis and I sat earlier. Images kept repeating in my head. Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Flutter shy, and Rarity.. They all said the same things. Staring into the red wall, my vision became a bit blurry as I went back.. What I was trying to remember I locked away years ago... But here it was coming back.. It was coming back, because she came back..

"I got my bags all packed and ready to go!"

Pinkie Pie jumped up and down hugging chese sandwhich while she was at it.

"Oh! I can't wait! We got the perfect house for the baby! I cant wait to see what this little filly is gunna look like oh but I'm so sad i have to leave Ponyvile but It's not like I can keep living there! I'll make sure to visit whenever I can! Hopefully this little boy won't be crying all the time back at home but you know what I'm to-o-o-tally ready!"

Rainbow dash flew up and set her down.

"Woah calm down now, don't want to hurt your baby. And how do you know it's going to be a boy anyways?"

Pinkie Pie came up close to her face and smirked.

"I can feeeel it.."

Rarity then walked up and set a hat on Pinkie Pie's head.

"Well I, for one think it's going to be a girl. Hopefully one that wont be so.. hyper." She smiled raising her hoof and petting pinkie pie's stomach.

"Be safe out there darling."

Then Fluttershy walked up to them. She smiled softly, standing behind us three.

"Bye Pinkie.."

The train the came out, and Pinkie waved to us. Before she could even put her hoof down we all piled onto her into a big group hug, crying I laughed. "We'll miss you.."

For once.. Pinkie cried, seriously. "I know."

"Apple Jack! Snap out of it!"

The water trippled down my face as I saw twilight look at me with a worried face.

"What's wrong?"

Right then and there I just wanted to burst out into tears and hold onto her for dear life. But I gotta be strong. I'm not going to whine like a little baby, im not one anymore.. Im an adult.

Her eyes pierced me, worried, and saddened. Her tone was serious. I..

Getting up, I smiled and began to walk out the barn, "Sorry bout that, did I worry ya? Well I gotta get back to my job. So I'll talk to ya in a bit!"

"Wait Apple Jack, your family was nice enough to let me stay here until I need to go. I'll be in the guest room so.. I'll talk to you later."

Walking away, I refused to look back. It felt as if her eyes were piercing me, and you know what. It really hurt. Getting back into the field I continued to buck the trees. Harder and harder with every kick. Grunting, my breath became jagged. Each kick I did to the tree became more rough. Soon, my legs felt numb and the apples didn't fall from the tree anymore, but I kept kicking. It was as if it let go of the thoughts. How everyone left me behind to kick these.. god damn trees!

I did one more kick before falling flat on my face. My back hooves were bleeding, they even had a splinter in them. Then I just sat there. Watching the sun go down behind the trees... I closed my eyes. Falling to sleep under the tree.

Twilights POV

Whistling, I packed the supplies together and smiled proudly. "Okay Spike I think that's everything on the checklist! You ready to fly?"

He looked back at me with a worried face.

"Uh.. I don't know, you still dont know how to fly well yet I mean the only time you do fly is for the festival.. Your sure we'll, you know, survive?"

I sighed then looked at him slightly irritated. "Of course we will! Now hop on, I really wanna see the gang again. Time just flew by over here I can't believe it's been so long! Five years without seeing all their smiling faces.."

After I got outside I took off, but it wasn't exactly the best flight i've ever had.

I bent down slightly with a timid expression on my face. Spike finally found a comfy position to sit in on my back and gave the thumbs up.

I started to flap slowly, then faster and faster, once airborn I tried to steady out. Spike, worried with sweat slowly trickling down the side of his head.

It went smoothly at first, but as we went on, I started to grow tired.

"Oh cmon, I'm not that bad." I said nervously.

Spike with a worried tone, "YOU'RE PRETTY BAD!"

I chuckled as I continued flying forward.

Then one of my wings started to stop flapping. Screeching I fell down and flew back up, doing zig-zags in the air as we went on. Just then, I saw Apple Jacks Family Farm. Doing a sigh of relief I tried to slow down and land but just then I realized.. How do I stop?!

"Wait, how do you do the breaks on these things!" I screamed before landing on the ground. Chomping on a mouthful of dirt, I spit it out and looked to see where I landed.

"Hey ya'll o-"

Apple Jack stood still before she ran up and hugged me.

"Twilight!"

"Ow! Man I still can't get used to these things.." a pain spiked in my back just slightly.

Picking up my books I placed them into my bag. A big smile spread across my face as I looked around.

"Well I'm here for offical buisness and I thought flying would be easier to do... Guess not though.. hehe."

Looking at spike, I picked him up and set him on my back.

"Anyways do you know where the rest of the group is? I haven't seen you all in what feels like forever! Princess Celastia sent me back here to give you all an invatation.. Apple Jack?"

Just then Apple Jack looked down, depressed. My heart, I felt it break for some reason..

"Hey what's wrong?"

Then the rest of her family jumped out and hugged me too. But, I could only pay attention to AJ. She walked behind the crowd trying to avoid me.. What's going on? Then I looked to my left to see Apple Bloom tug on my bag a little smiling as she talked.

"Oh don't worry bout Apple Jack, she's just all down in the ditches ever since you all left Ponyvile.. Guess she feels you all left her behind.. It has been a couple years.." Apple Bloom said slowly losing her happy tone.

"Wait, everyone left Ponyvile? When!" My face was filled with shock.. Everyone really left?

Apple Jack came out from the back, still looking to the ground.

"All of the folks left here years ago. When you left everyone else did too. They all got new jobs in new places.. I would've left too but I can't leave the farm. It's where I belong.."

Then, she walked away once more. Back into the red barn. Everyone tried to talk to me, but I couldn't respond to any of them. My heart...

"I'm going to check on her.."

"Oh no ya don't gimme your bags I'll let ya settle down in the guest room for as long as ya need to."

Apple Bloom took my stuff and went off with it. Not caring, I took off to the barn. Walking in I opened the door quietly, just incase she was doing something private.. My eyes widened in shock. Apple Jack sat on the hay crying her eyes out. My hoolves wouldn't move. For what felt like eternity I stood at the door. Watching her cry, and cry. But, it felt so wrong to not do anything.. I hated it. I was weak at this moment.

After a minute or two, I finally clustered up my courage and walked to her. Shaking her shoulder, she kept sobbing. My eyes started to gather tears as I finally yelled.

"Apple Jack snap out of it!"

Her face was red, looking back at me, she looked around confused.

"What's wrong?"

She stood up and smiled as she began to walk out the barn, "Sorry bout that, did I worry ya? Well I gotta get back to my job. So I'll talk to ya in a bit!"

There it was again. That pain. Trying to stop her I blurted out some random words.

"Wait Apple Jack, your family was nice enough to let me stay here until I need to go. I'll be in the guest room so.. I'll talk to you later."

Walking away from her, my face began to turn red and flustered. Why did I do that? Continuing, I went into her house and went straight to the guest room, trying to ignore the family. Opening the door I saw my stuff on the floor and the bed have one side a bit tucked open as if it was ready for anyone to sleep in it. Sighing, I suddenly realized something.. Where's Spike?
