The Horses Ride Tonight

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Ground to dust, the wishes of a nation

Once so cherished, abandoned.

Steel and rust, these confines only hasten

The return to life unburdened.

The matriarch did say, did say,

To ride our fears away.

To wait until the day, the day,

The horses' riding night.

And into measured hooves, behooved,

To follow every wish.

Until displeasure grew, it grew,

And caged this flying fish.

To know, to know

The freedom of the snow.

And graze, amaze

Those were our finest days...

Flip the harness, shelve the shoes

The horses ride tonight,

Sailing on Equestrian blues

Straight for that morning Light.

Everypony's welcome,

To understand this might.

Better pack for Kingdom Come,

The horses ride tonight.

The Night Mares came to see, to see,

If we might make amends.

While everypony's welcome here,

It don't mean we're all friends.

And so with heavy heart, one heart

We came to our accord.

We'd raid Equestria's towns, her towns,

Sow the seeds of the Nightmare Lord.

But still, but still

Those gently rolling hills

Make right, our fight

To share the morning light...

Flip the harness, shelve the shoes

The horses ride tonight,

Sailing on Equestrian blues

Straight for that morning Light.

Everypony's welcome,

To understand this might.

Better pack for Kingdom Come,

The horses ride tonight.

The horses wild, dear pony-child,

Ride past where ponies do go.

If freedom rests within your chests

Take pride and leave the show.

Flip the harness, shelve the shoes

The horses ride tonight,

Sailing on Equestrian blues

Straight for that morning Light.

Everypony's welcome,

To understand this might.

Better pack for Kingdom Come,

The horses ride tonight.
