Moving Forward

Night Wolf was dead, he was not going to wake up, the others insisted on not turning off the machine that kept him alive, but I knew he was gone for sure… It was time to move on, he once told me something, it was a long time ago when we were just kids.

“We will be friends forever, right?” Night Wolf asked me.

“Why are you asking me that?” I asked.

“I just… I have been thinking…” Night Wolf said “I really like being with you, I just don’t want our friendship to end…”

“Don’t worry” I replied “We will be friend forever, I promise”

Night Wolf smiled to me.

“After all” I continued “Who else is going to protect you from the baddies huh?”

“Ha, you’re right” Night Wolf lowered his head, like if he knew something I didn’t.

“Hey, Ayla” he said “If I ever die… I want you to move on…”

“Why do you say that?” I asked, I was confused.

“Just, promise me” He continued “Promise me that if I ever die, you will keep on with your life and you won’t be sad for the rest of your life.”

“But, why?” I asked.

“Promise me” He repeated.

“Ok” I answered “I promise.”

He smiled at me, it was like if he knew this was going to happen, now I realize what he meant back then…

“I will move on Night Wolf… don’t worry about me, I will fulfill my promise” I hoped Night Wolf could hear me…

A week has passed since Night Wolf entered the coma, he is still connected, but he won’t wake up.

I asked Rainbow Dash to help me learn how to fly, she accepted and she taught me how to, I always were a fast learner, I mastered the ability to use my wings in a single day, I have been staying with Rainbow, her house was really a cloud.

I went to clouds dale to learn more about Pegasus, there I mastered even more my ability of flight, but I simply couldn’t stop thinking about Night Wolf…

A day, some bullies began bothering me, I ignored them, I didn’t want to get into trouble now, but they said something that really made me angry.

“Hey Ayla, where is your friend Night Wolf?” One of them said “Oh, I remember, he is DEAD.”

That made me angry, so angry that I punched him in the face and sent him a couple of meters away.

My eyes filled with tears, I remembered everything that I wanted to forget… I flew away from Clouds Dale, back to Ponyville, I found a cloud on the outsides of Ponyville and I sat on it.

I cried and cried and cried for hours, and just when I thought things couldn’t be worse, it began raining… What a great timing…

I sat on that cloud for hours, I was thinking on him again, I couldn’t move forward, I needed him…

“Hey, are you ok?” a female voice asked right behind me.

I turned around and there was a girl with a spiky light blue and white hair, she had an umbrella with her.

I nodded slowly and I went back to my previous pose.

“You should get out of here” the girl suggested “You might get sick.”

“Why would you care?” I replied.

“Well…” she said “Ok, I think we started with the wrong foot.”

She sat at my side and covered me with the umbrella.

“I’m Cloudchaser” she continued “Nice to meet you!”

I didn’t reply, I was too sad for talking…

“Um… what’s your name?” she asked.

I sighed “I’m Ayla… Rune Ayla…”

“Rune Ayla, that’s an odd name” she said “But it’s nice.”

I didn’t reply.

“Rune, we should really get out of here, you may catch a flu” Cloudchaser said.

“I don’t care” I replied, I really didn’t care, I mean, why would I care? I was already dead inside.

“Come on, I’m worried about you” She replied “Let’s go, I’ll take you to your house.”

“Why do you care? You don’t even know me…”

“I do know you…” her face lowered “I know your friend entered on an eternal coma…”

“So what?” I said without moving my face.

“I understand your pain” she continued.

“How could you possibly understand me!?” I yelled “How can you feel the pain I feel!”

“My mother… she was killed a couple of years ago…” her expression turned from regular to completely dark… “She was killed by a Changeling attack…”

I saw her pain, I realized she suffered… maybe even more than me…

“It was about a year or two, my sister and I took my mother to the Canterlot wedding of Shining Armor and Cadence…” She said sadly “Then… the changelings attacked… They destroyed many buildings, and even though they only killed a few… one of those was my mother…”

I could see her eyes filled with tears…

“Four of them fell right next to us, they punched my sister and they grabbed my arms… After that, they hopped on my mother and… they… they…” she began sobbing “They began punching her, they kicked her and they threw her around like if she was a doll… and when they got bored… they cut her throat open… They looked at me… with some kind of… pleasure…”

She looked up with her eyes still filled with tears.

“If Thunder Lane hadn’t come in the right moment… The changelings would have raped me and my sister… he managed to come fast and saved us… but he was badly injured… he was lucky to survive…”

I realized she also suffered… she was just like me… but she managed to move on…

“I-I’m sorry…” I replied “I didn’t know…”

She cleaned her tears with her sleeve “Don’t worry, I had to take that out anyways.”

The rain continued, but it was softer now.

“We should get out of here” I suggested.

Cloud looked at me and she smiled softly.

“Yes, we should” she replied “Where do you live?”

“I… don’t really have a place I can call home” I said “Rainbow Dash lent me a room, but it’s too small… it’s not really a home for me…”

“Oh, I see… What about moving to my place?” she suggested “I have a room for guests, you can stay there until you get a home for yourself.”

“No, I don’t want to bother you” I didn’t really want to bother her, after how I treated her…

“Don’t worry!” she said “After all, I don’t really like living all by myself.”

“Really?” I replied “Even after how I treated you?”

“Yeah, I understand you, its normal that you reacted that way, it’s a self-defense mechanism.”

A strange feeling crossed my mind… She was so sweet, and she could understand me… maybe she could help me move forward…

“Thank you, really, this means a lot to me.” I said.

“No problem, come on, follow me” She said while she stood up and began flying.

I followed right behind, I finally found someone that could help me move forward… that could help me forget…

On the way to her house we found Rainbow Dash, she was panting.

“Ayla, I finally found you” she said agitated “You need to come to the library, Twilight found a spell that may help.”

“Really!?” I replied surprised.

“Yes, we need to go!” she flew fast back to the library, Cloudchaser and I followed her.

After a while we finally reached to the library, we entered and everyone was already there, except for Fluttershy.

“Ah, Ayla!” Twilight Said “I’m glad you could make it.”

“So what’s the great idea?” I asked.

“Oh, yes, we found a spell that may work, it’s written in a very old language but I managed to find some of the words, if I’m not wrong, this spell has to do with travelling in time” Twilight explained.

“Which means… we can save Night Wolf!” I said excited.

“Exactly” Twilight affirmed “But, there is a little problem.”

“What is it?” I asked, curious.

“According to this, it only works on dragons and pyromancers” Twilight replied.

“So… Spike will have to go.” I guessed.

“Yes, he will have to go and take Night Wolf out of the Everfree forest BEFORE it’s sealed.” Twilight seemed confident about this.

“Are you sure Spike will be able to do it?” I asked worried.

“I can do it” Spike intervened “It’s easy, I just go, take Night Wolf out and done!”

“Ok, shall we try it?” I suggested impatiently.

We all stood aside from Spike and we all stared at him.

“Ok Spike, remember, only take Night Wolf and get out, don’t do anything risky” Twilight said to Spike.

“Yes, please Spikey Wikey, take care!” Rarity said.

Spike was ready, Twilight began chanting some words, weird, I never saw a unicorn chant.

Then a cloud of blue smoke covered Spike’s feet, then it legs and finally it full body, Twilight chanted a little bit more and then she cast the spell, an explosion occurred on the place where Spike was standing and a blinding light came out, I covered my eyes.

When I opened them I saw the blue cloud which slowly depleted, I was hoping there would be Spike and Night Wolf… that we would finally reunite…

The smoke slowly banished, and what we saw when it was gone was… surprising…

There he was, a guy from around our age with green hair and a face that looked a lot like Spike’s, but older…

“What? What happened?” said the guy “Why am I taller?”

Then we all realized.

“S-Spikey Wikey?” Rarity asked.

The teenager turned to her, he was Spike… he aged around 10 years in a second…

“Spike?” Twilight asked “Is it really you?”

“Yes Twilight, it’s me!” he replied.

“But… you were supposed to go to the past, why are you older?” Twilight looked very confused.

“Let me see that book” Spike asked.

Twilight handed the book to Spike, he opened it and read it a little.

“Oh, I see” he said while reading “This is written in old pyromancer dialogue, it says that this spell is used to make pyromancers age 10 years in a single second, this is used to skip all the training and let them use their powers at their full potential.”

Spike sounded much more… manly, and he looked… handsome, I can’t deny that.

“Oh, so I was wrong…” Twilight said.

“Don’t worry Twilight, there are still many books around here, maybe there is one with a solution” he said “and now that I’m older, I can help you read the books that are written in old pyromancer text!” Spike said, he looked filled with optimism.

“Huh, I guess it was too good to be true…” I said sadly.

“Don’t worry Ayla” Cloudchaser told me “There’s still a chance.”

“How do you make that?” I asked.

“What do you mean?”

“How can you make me smile when I’m sad?”

“Oh, I don’t know” she replied “I guess that’s my special talent.”

We both giggled.

Rarity was still with her mouth wide open, I guess she couldn’t believe that Spike was older… Or maybe she couldn’t believe how handsome he became…

Cloudchaser and I decided to go to her house, it was getting late and I was tired.

I spent the rest of the trip talking with Cloud, she was very nice, we avoided the sad talks and we focused more on our plans, she wanted to join the Wonderbolts, she has already made some tryouts, but she wasn’t chosen.

She told me she would try again this year, she had high expectations, I decided to support her.

I didn’t really have any plans for my life, I was basically new… maybe my plan could be becoming the best scientist of this world, or maybe saving a lot of people with… I don’t know, maybe a giant force field that protected everyone from something… Who knows…

I could see Chaser’s house, it was a small house in Ponyville, I was surprised she didn’t live on a cloud.

“So, this is your house?” I asked.

“Surprised it isn’t a cloud huh?” she replied “Yeah, those ones are very expensive and I’m not exactly rich.”

“It looks nice” I looked at it and it really was nice, at least from the outside.

We entered the house, it was simple, but it was nice and cozy, Chaser showed me the kitchen, the living room, the bathroom and the rooms.

“This is my room, and right next to it its yours” she said while pointing at the door next to the one that led to her room “Wanna look at it?”

“Sure” I replied.

We entered my room, it was nice, the bed was very comfy, it had a closet and its own private bathroom, it seemed pretty nice to me.

“Its great!” I exclaimed with excitement “I love it!”

“I knew you would… wanna get naked?” she said.

I blushed, my face turned into a shining red light.

“What!?” I asked.

Cloud laughed “I’m joking, don’t worry.”

I laughed back, I didn’t see that one coming.

“Ok, let’s go downstairs and get some diner” she suggested.

“Sounds great” I replied.

I was getting hungry, I didn’t eat in the whole day.

We went downstairs and to the kitchen.

“What do you want to eat?” she asked.

“Oh, well… I would likaaaah!” I tripped with a napkin that was on the floor, Cloud cached me but we both fell, we ended up on the floor, I was on top of her.

“Oh, sorry, I tripped and…” I said while I uncovered my eyes which were covering my eyes, and then I saw her.

Her face was so cute, so beautiful, we looked into each other eyes… she blushed and so I did, we slowly closed to each other, she had such a sweet smell, her violet eyes gazed to mine, they were beautiful, and her lips… they slowly got closer to mine and then… we kissed…

We kissed for about a minute then we gazed at each other again.

“I love you” I said.

“Me too…” she said softly to my ear.

We kissed again and the rest is history.

I finally moved forward, I finally fulfilled the promise I made to Night Wolf… I finally had a reason to stay alive… and her name was Cloudchaser.
