The brace confining his wings and forcing them to his back requires ten different keys of which must be used one right after the other or spikes will be deployed causing serious injury to the restrained, the same can be said for any attempt of picking the locks, and 5 individual guards hold two of those keys of which are spread around the prison to make obtaining the keys impossible. Finally he is placed in his cell for most of the day taken to the cafeteria for brunch at 12:00 on the dot, then back to his cell for two more hours to then be moved to the courtyard for exercise to make sure his wings do not degrade or are damaged, prison may be cruel in Equestria but they do focus on making themselves comfortable but specifically prison standards. 45 minutes for arms and legs then 15 minutes of wing exercise to accommodate the same process is used for unicorns with 15 minutes of magical practice and a half an hour each for the average person.

The timing must be specific right on the dot correct because the prison may be big but it only holds 24 inmates, of which are the residents because of the same reason they are all betrayers of the military. All unicorn inmates have betrayed either the Royal Canterlot Guard, council of royal ministers or Celestia`s School for talented magical Sorcerers by either dabbling in the dark arts or have attempted to assassinate the royal sisters. All normal inmates (neither Pegasus nor unicorn) have only seemed to have been incarcerated because of bribery or assignation attempts. Finally there are his race the pegasi who themselves are only incarcerated for one of two reasons betrayal of the Canterlot guard or in his case betrayal of the Wonderbolts the best flight team in all of Equestria only the best of the best get in and he is the only occupant to betray the team, for murder of his family a fellow officer and relaying secrets to the terrorist underground movement the Shadows of Nightmare.
