My Little Pony: The Lost Element
Prelude: Magic to Stone
It was the coldest day Equestria had seen in a while. The wind swirled in its mystical ways, showering the land in chilly gusts of wind.
On the topmost tower of Canterlot, a chain of events was about to change the world forever. Three alicorn princesses stood their ground against the spirit of discord.
“Discord! Remember who you are! You were reformed!” shouted Celestia, the wind roaring around her.
Discord, who had been over-taken by evil, was not the same spirit of chaos he was before. This was different. It wasn’t just chaos. He was completely evil now. “Princess Celestia! How kind of you to remind me of it! For I am no longer Discord!” His evil laugh echoed all throughout Equestria, being taken through the wind.
“Please Discord! Remember what it was like? To be turned to stone? We’ll have no choice but to turn you back!” Luna shrieked.
He chuckled. “And you, Princess Luna! I thought you of all ponies would understand me! After all, we’ve both been locked away for a while!”
“No Discord!” the third princess spoke, stepping forward.
“Ah! Princess Twilight Sparkle, eh? How is my friend Shutterfly doing?”
“It’s Fluttershy!” a fourth voice echoed. Near the door of the tower, five other ponies stepped out, each with a golden necklace. “And you’re not my friend any longer, Discord!” Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie-Pie, and Rainbow Dash all gathered around the three princesses.
“Here!” Rarity, being a unicorn, levitated a crown onto Twilight’s head. It glowed with the element of Magic. “Beautiful!”
“Surrender Discord! Or get turned to stone!” Celestia roared over the raging wind.
Discord laughed harder than ever, his evil chuckles a million times louder. Thunder boomed! Lightning struck! “You think I’m afraid of those little trinkets? No! For you do not harness the seventh and final element!”
Celestia shook her head in anger. “He’s not going to listen! Use the elements! Turn him to stone!”
Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie-Pie, and Rainbow Dash all powered up the elements around their necks. They began to levitate off the ground, surrounded by energy.
“Wait!” Twilight stepped even closer. “What do you mean the seventh element? There are only six! Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Loyalty, and Magic!”
Discord smiled, his craziness taking over his sanity. “No my dear Twilight! For there is another element! And I have grown immune to your pathetic little trinkets!”
“No Twilight! Don’t fall for it! He’s bluffing! He’s the Master of Tricks! Don’t be fooled!” Celestia screamed over the howling wind. “Use your element!”
The five elements of Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie-Pie, and Rainbow Dash were beginning to fade. The energy was dying, and the ponies were starting to float downward.
“Hurry Twilight!” Rainbow Dash yelled through her gritted teeth, her eyes shut tight with concentration.
Twilight hesitated for a moment, tilting her head. “Discord! What is this seventh element?”
He cackled. “Twilight Sparkle! The smartest pony in all of Equestria doesn’t even know about the seventh Element of Harmony! What a joke!”
Princess Luna looked at her moon. Its energy was being pulled directly into Discord. “Twilight! He’s stalling! Hurry! He’s gaining energy from the moon! He’s lying!”
Discord snapped his eagle claw and Luna was blown backward. She hit the opposing wall and fell to the stone ground.
“Twilight! NOW!” Celestia screamed.
Discord raised his hands and the sky filled with lightning bolts. They zoomed down to tower. In a few seconds they would all be dead.
Twilight lit her element and stared at Discord. The magical rainbow surrounded the entire tower. Whoosh! The magical rainbow zoomed at Discord, who was laughing uncontrollably with insanity.
BANG!!!
The entire tower exploded, and everypony was blown backward.
Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack were knocked unconscious, and Twilight was digging her way out of the rubble. “Help!”
“Here!” Rarity tried to pull Twilight out of the rubble. “Hurry!”
“Where’s Discord…? The elements…?” she noticed her crown was blown off in the explosion.
“We have to hurry! He’s still here!” Rarity pulled her out and Twilight saw an unbelievable sight.
Luna was still against the wall. Dead? Twilight couldn’t tell. Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Applejack were unconscious near the edge of the tower. Pinkie-Pie was hiding behind Celestia, who was staring into the eyes of Discord.
Although, it wasn’t exactly Discord. His body was destroyed in the explosion, he was now just a spirit, like a ghost of pure evil.
“See what you’ve done here, Discord! Come to your senses!”
Discord’s spirit laughed. “I see what I’ve done. I’ve destroyed the elements! No longer will evil have to hide! I will rein chaos all throughout Equestria!!!”
Twilight took Celestia’s side along Pinkie-Pie and Rarity. “No! We will stop you! The spirits of the elements are still here!”
Discord roared. “How can the spirits of the elements work when they’re turned to stone?”
“Turned to stone?” Rarity screamed.
Discord snapped his claw and the shards of the Elements of Harmony levitated from all around the tower. He simply threw them aside. “Now to business.” He raised his hands and the moon glowed. “Now that Princess Luna is gone, the moon is mine!”
Celestia, for the first time in forever, was speechless. They had lost. After thousands of years of protecting Equestria, they were going to lose to a ghost that they had trusted.
“See how you like it, Princess!” he swooped his arms down, and the moon let off a ray of light. It engulfed the tower as the ponies screamed for help…
My Little Pony:
Chapter One: Generations Since
That was about a couple of centuries ago. The story of the three princess that ruled over Equestria was turned to legend. And from legend, myth. The castle of Canterlot was in ruins, and the new royal castle was named after the Everfree Forest. The Everfree Castle was now home to the new royalty. King Firesong, along with his daughter Angelsketch, were Pegasi.
The stories of Alicorns were long forgotten by now, and times were dark. Now, the world of Equestria was ruled by one king. Firesong was a great and kind king, but he doesn’t compare to the magic that the three princesses once brought.
“Tiny!” came the rough voice that belonged to Storm. Storm was a unicorn pony, and was Tiny Dynamite’s partner in the Royal Guard.
Tiny Dynamite turned. He was a blue Pegasus with a brown mane. His cutie mark was a stick of dynamite, and his wings were slightly larger than the average Pegasus. “Yeah?”
Storm saluted Tiny, “King Firesong wishes to see you. Something urgent!”
Tiny’s eyes widened. “Did he say what it was…?”
Storm shook his head. “No, sir! Only that it was urgent.”
Tiny saluted the unicorn and stepped away. “Thank you,” He raced up the halls of Everfree Castle. What could be so important that they needed him? Tiny Dynamite was a rather important pony. He was an excellent flyer, and dedicated to his duties.
He raced into the Throne Room where he found Firesong sitting, talking to his daughter.
“Ah, Tiny Dynamite!” he looked up.
Tiny stepped forward and saluted. “You’re highness! You summoned me?”
Firesong was a white pony with a red, flowing mane. His cutie mark consisted of a burning log. His daughter, however, was a sight to see. Her purple body showed off her cutie mark perfectly. It was a pencil with angelic wings, being as how her special talent was drawing. Her curly brown mane fell over her beautiful hazel eyes.
“Yes! You see, my daughter, Princess Angelsketch, was about to leave the castle.”
Tiny looked puzzled. “Leave? I don’t understand, Your Highness.”
Angelsketch smiled. “Dad agreed to let me leave the castle for a day. Just to do what I want! For my birthday, you know.”
“Oh, yes! Happy birthday, Your Majesty!” Tiny exclaimed.
Firesong looked concerned. “Tiny. I need you to go with her. It is not safe, and there is no other Royal Guard member I trust more than you.”
Tiny felt overwhelmed. The king was trusting him with his daughter’s life! It was a great honor! “I will protect the princess at all costs! You have my word, Your Highness!”
Firesong looked somewhat relieved. “Have her back by tonight! Before dark!”
Tiny nodded and saluted. “Where is her highness wanting to go?” he looked at Angelsketch.
She smiled, slightly embarrassed. “The ruins of Canterlot Castle…”
Far off from the Everfree Castle, the small town of Ponyville was experiencing rainy weather. A unicorn sat under a tree surrounded by his favorite books and scrolls. A bubble spell was cast around him to keep from being rained on as he flipped through the pages.
“Elements of Harmony…?” he read. Inksplat had a blue coat and red mane. His green eyes studied the book labeled: “Equestra’s Legends and History”
He read on, intrigued
The Elements of Harmony: Legend
According to ancient scrolls and writings, it is said that long ago six magical elements protected Equestria. Being the only means of defense, however, they were hidden in secret. It is believed that they were destroyed along with the old royal castle, Canterlot.
Scholars have searched and searched but have found no proof of such a thing. Although, statues were found inside Canterlot of eight ponies. Three being Alicorn, a mixture of Unicorn and Pegasus. The legend states, that the three Alicorns were the princesses of Equestria for as long as time existed. Although, they, along with five others, were turned into stone by an evil spirit.
The eight statues are there today, being as how they are immovable.
Inksplat turned the page. That was all. “That’s it? That all to the story?”
He moved the book to his left and picked up the next one. “A Unicorns Guide to Life”
Zap! Lightning flashed in the distance. The storm was coming. He quickly loaded all his books into his saddlebags before releasing the bubble spell. He trotted the whole way home.
He threw open the door and ran inside the little house, bringing mud and dirt in with him. “Mudsplat!”
Mudsplat, Inksplat’s little brother came down the stairs. “What is it?” he had a short red mane similar to Inksplat’s and a green coat. He looked much different than Inksplat in many ways. One way being that Mudsplat was a Pegasus.
“Where’s mom?” he asked, putting his saddlebags down by the door. He levitated a towel from the counter and began wiping off the mud from his coat.
Mudsplat looked outside at the storm. “Can I go play out in the rain? I bet it’s muddy!”
“Why are you so obsessed with dirt?” asked Inksplat.
The Splat family always had their big differences. Mrs. Splat, there mother, was always a good drawer, and loved insects. Therefore, her cutie mark was a ladybug with a paintbrush. Inksplat loved to write, in fact, it was his life! Along with reading. So, his cutie mark appeared the first day he wrote his first book. It was a quill and writing. Mudsplat, who was still a blank flank, was sure to get his cutie mark in being obsessed with dirt and mud.
“I don’t know. It’s just who I am!” said Mudsplat.
Inksplat gathered his bags and began to walk upstairs. “You never answered me. Where’s mom?”
Mudsplat shrugged. “Not sure. She said she’d be back tomorrow.”
Inksplat’s eyes narrowed. “Tomorrow? Why would she just leave?” he trotted back downstairs and looked around for a note. Nothing. “She didn’t even leave us an explanation…?”
Mudsplat yawned. “Well, let’s not worry about it. I’m going to bed. See ya tomorrow!” and just like that, Mudsplat fluttered his little wings and glided toward the stairs.
After some late-night reading, Inksplat got more and more curious about these “Elements of Harmony”. He finally decided the only way to know for sure if the legend was true was to go find them his self. He knew it was ridiculous, but he had to know.
The rain had stopped and his mother wouldn’t be home until morning. He was about to go on quite an adventure…
“Oh, how I wish the king would have spared this…” Tiny Dynamite shivered. They had to walk along the edge of the Everfree Forest to reach the ruins of Canterlot.
“You scared?” asked Angelsketch, smirking. “I thought you wanted to be captain of the Royal Guard!”
Tiny’s eyes widened. “I do, Your Majesty!”
Angelsketch giggled. “This is wonderful! Being out of the castle!” she took a deep breath.
“Princess, please. We must keep our voices down. Anyone could be out here and we don’t need people to know that the princess of all of Equestria is here!”
Angelsketch’s wings tightened around her. “Why would someone be looking for me?”
“Well, Your Highness, you’re the princess! It’s dangerous for you. In fact, I can’t believe King Firesong would allow this!”
Angelsketch quickly tucked something under her wing. “Well… It is my birthday… I deserve a day out of that wretched castle for once.”
“Hang on… Princess? What’s that?” Tiny pointed to her wing.
Angelsketch tucked the item deeper under her wing. “Nothing…”
Tiny stopped in his tracks, and glared at the princess.
“What is it?”
“Princess. I mean no disrespect. But, I feel as if you’re keeping something from me. And as your guard, I simply demand an explanation…”
“Tiny… You’ve protected me my whole life. I’m tired of being protected! I need some excitement!”
“I see, Princess… I apologize,” he said, getting to his hooves. “May we continue?”
Angelsketch smiled. “Yes.”
They walked for about thirty minutes before Tiny spoke again. “Princess? Why exactly are we coming here…? To the ruins of Canterlot?”
Angelsketch looked up ahead. They were almost there. “Something I read in a book…”
“Princess, I did not know you read.” said Tiny.
“I don’t, but when you’re stuck in your tower for a year at a time you get bored… not to mention lonely…”
“I apologize…”
“Don’t. Look! We’re here!” Angelsketch trotted into the ruins. She rushed all around the ruins of smoldered stone.
“What are you looking for, Princess?” asked Tiny.
She looked up at a small broken tower above her. “There!”
Tiny looked up. “There? What’s there?” He was confused. What did the princess want with this place? What book had she been reading?
She rushed up a flight of stairs and into the tower, closely followed by Tiny. “Yes! They’re here!”
Inside was a grave sight. Walls were broken down, shards of glass were all over the floor, and eight statues surrounded the room. Three looked to be sleeping. One seemed to be dead against the floor. The other four looked to be screaming in the center of the room. Their eyes were squinted and their manes were being blown back.
“The three sleeping guardians…” Angelsketch pulled out a book from under her wing. As she did so, a glass vial fell and rolled to Tiny’s hoof.
He picked it up, and his eyes darkened. “P-Princess…”
“Shh…” she looked at the book, reading and walking around the room.
“P-Princess!”
Angelsketch turned. “What, Tiny? Can’t you see I’m-?”
“Did you use this on King Firesong!?” he screamed, holding out the glass vial.
Angelsketch jumped back. It was the first time anypony had spoken to her in that tone. “Well… Yeah…”
It was a vial of Persuasion Potion. When the potion is drank by somepony, they are very easy to convince of anything.
“Is this how you got him to let you come!?” he screamed.
“Shh! Tiny! It’s no big deal. So I drugged my dad so I could come, so what?”
“So what? This is… This is unheard of! The princess using a Persuasion Potion on the king!”
Angelsketch was about to scream back, but she noticed a faint crying sound. She turned, and dropped the book. “Tiny… someone’s here…” she whispered.
“And it’s not us!” he grabbed her hoof and began to tug her away.
“Tiny! Stop it!” she pushed him off. “If you don’t stop I’ll fire you! You’ll never ever be a Royal Guard member again!”
He stopped. “It’s my duty to protect the princess at all costs…”
“And I appreciate that, Tiny…” she said, turning back to the crying sound. “But there are some things I just have to do…”
She walked over the source of the weeping. “Hello…?”
“P-Princess? Please!” he galloped over to her.
She looked behind the statue, and almost shrieked at what she saw.
A blue unicorn sat with his eyes facing a wispy creature. A ghost. The unicorn seemed to be hypnotized as the wisp spoke very quietly… “Kill… Kill…”
“Hello…?” she said again.
At this, the wisp vanished and the unicorn stood up. “Kill…”
“Are… you okay…?” she asked.
The unicorn turned around. His eyes were completely black, and his red mane began to float around. “Kill…”
“Excuse me?” asked Angelsketch. “Are you okay?” Fear began to take over her. She’d never in her entire life been this scared. She’d never really experienced fear before.
“Kill!” screamed the unicorn. He pointed his horn at Angelsketch and it charged with magic.
“No!” Tiny jumped onto the unicorn, knocking them both to the ground.
The two fought on the ground in a massive fight. Tiny screamed for Angelsketch to run.
She stood, frozen in place. Fear had taken her.
“Kill!” the unicorn blasted Tiny off of him in a rush of lightning from his horn. “Princess…” he turned to her.
“Must… get… princess…” said the unicorn slowly. “Discord…” he charged his horn with arcane energy.
“Princess! Run!” Tiny screamed from the ground. His mangled body against the stone wall. “Get to the castle!”
“No escape…” said the unicorn. He casted his spell and a wave of magic engulfed Angelsketch as she screamed. Whoosh! The magic took her into a ball of energy and flew around the unicorn. “Discord! Come!”
