From Rough Beginnings To Happy Endings
Job hunting or "job hunting"
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe birds were chirping, ponies were shopping, laughing, eating breakfast and going about there business and the sun was up and shining bright, right into Trixie's eyes causing her to groan and shift around in her bed to try and get away from the merciless sun that was trying to disturb her beautiful sleep. Trixie got about 2 more minutes of sleep before she was scared half to death out of her bed.
"Good morning Trixie Breakfast is ready!"
"Aaaaaaahhhhh!"
Trixie got scared so bad that she literally jumped out of her bed and fell on the floor in a heap tangled up in her sheets. Twilight at the door watching the whole event go down giggling at the door. After about a minute Trixie finally managed to get herself untangled from her bedsheets and poked her head up over the side of the bed to look at the one who caused her heart to explode.
"SPARKLE!"
Twilight was still giggling a bit "Yeeeeesss?"
"That wasn't funny, I was still asleep and you bursting through the door scared me half to death." she said with a deadpan look on her face.
"Well I'll be honest I wasn't expecting you to jump and nearly bust through the roof of my house." Twilight said with a mischievous smirk on her face.
"But, like I said breakfast is ready so come down and eat."
"Mmmmm give me like five minutes it's too early."
"It's almost ten thirty already though."
"What? But why did I...oh that's right we came home close to midnight didn't we, oh well I guess I had to wake up at some point, okay I'll be down soon."
Twilight backed out of the room to head back downstairs to the kitchen while Trixie get the clothes he had yesterday and walked to the bathroom to take a shower. As she was bathing she made a mental note to go to Rarity's to see if she had the rest of her clothes done. After a few more minutes in the shower she turned the water off and stepped out to grab a towel and dry off and get dressed. After that she stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom brushing her hair and thinking to herself "I should really find a job, I don't want to mooch of of Twilight. After all she has already given me a place to stay and sleep so the least I could do is help out a bit and pay for what I use.".
After finishing her hair she walked out of the bathroom and made her way downstairs to eat. When she made it downstairs she was surprised at the spread of food on the table. "This is for two ponies?" She thought since it looked like the amount of food looked like it could feed at least five full grown ponies.
"So, this all for us Sparkle?"
"Ummm, well uhhhh I may have made a little too much but I have been learning how to cook from Spike."
"Mmm well at least I know I won't go hungry if you cook like this every morning." She said with a little chuckle at the end.
"Well don't think I'm cooking like this every morning; if I cooked like this all the time we'd run out of food in about three days."
"Right, well instead of just standing here talking why don't we sit down and eat what you made."
Twilight nodded her head and they both walked over to the table and sat down grabbing a plate each and grabbing waffles, pancakes, crepes and anything else that looked good. When they finished making their 'mountains' of food and started to dig in with big smiles on there faces. "This is really good!" Twilight was happy her lessons with Spike were paying off since just a few weeks ago she had tried to make pancakes again and had successfully made her kitchen into a war-zone of pancake batter and other ingredients.
About thirty minutes passed from when they started eating and now they were slumped back in there chairs with there faces now no longer sporting smiles but instead had tired expressions. "I..don't think...I could eat...another bite Sparkle." Twilight just shook her head slowly as if to much movement would make her feel sick. "Y-yeah.. m-me either." So they sat there for another ten minutes to let some of there food digest so they could move again. "Okay I don't think I'm eating for the rest of the day." Twilight began cleaning up the table and putting away what ever food wasn't eaten. ""I know how you feel, the first minute after I finished eating was okay but the the next ten were terrible...but so worth it." She was drooling just remembering the big meal she just had. "Okay Trixie you can close your mouth now, don't wanna catch flies now." Twilight giggled as she caught a glimpse of Trixie realizing she was drooling all over the floor and wiping her face with the back of her hand with a small embarrassed blush on her face.
"Uhhh here let me help you with the dishes."
"Alright, you can dry while I wash."
Trixie dried the dishes with a washcloth and put them on the counter since she didn't know where they went. She decided to tell Twilight about her plans for the day. "Hey Twilight?" Twilight kept her eyes on the dishes she was washing but answered back. "Yes Trixie?"
"I was thinking that if I'm going to be staying here with you than I think it would be a good idea if I got a job to be able to pay for my own things. I wouldn't want to mooch off of you, friends don't do that to each other, especially when that friend is letting them live in their house."
"That sound like a good idea. Having some of your own money to spend would be good and maybe you could use it to go on a date with your new coltfriend."
Trixie didn't know what was redder right now, the plate she had in her hands, or her face. While she tried to calmly place the plate on the counter she turned to look at Twilight with a huge blush on her face. "H-h-h-he's not m-m-my..w-we're n-not even g-going out." Trixie was stammering pretty hard and her blush just grew even more as she tried to get herself out of the awkward situation that Twilight had put her in.
"OH Trixie you know that I'm only teasing...besides I think he liked you too."
Trixie's eyes shot wide open and she turned to face Twilight, her eyes sparkling. "Really! You think so!?"
"Well, he did spend close to three hours with you...alone."
"W-well we did talk for a bit."
"Hehe well what were you two talking about?"
"Anything really, what kind of music he likes, which was really easy to figure out since he is a DJ after all. What he does in his down time when he isn't working at Vinyl's shop or covering a party. Wha-why are you looking at me like that?"
Twilight had a huge grin on her face as she listened to Trixie re-count what her Vincent and her were talking about. "You really like him don't you Trixie?"
Trixie blushed and started fiddling with her mane and looked down to the floor. "*sigh* Yes I do, but what if he doesn't like me like that back?"
Trixie slumped back against the wall of the kitchen and slid down and tucked her head into her knees, the thought of being rejected was messing with Trixie's head. Twilight knelt down next to Trixie and put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Trixie you won't know for sure unless you ask him." Trixie had cried a bit so her eyes were a bit red around the edges. "I guess so b-but i just don't know...do you think I should ask him if he wants to do something with me?"
Twilight smiled at Trixie and helped her up back on to her feet. "I think that's a great idea" Twilight gasped lightly at a thought that had just crossed her mind. "Hey Trixie I could be your wingmare!" Trixie just looked at Twilight as if she had just grown a second head. "A....wing...mare?" Twilight rolled her eyes at her. "Yes Trixie, A wingmare, I could help you get Vincent on a date with you." Said Twilight with a grin on her face. "Really, you'd do that for me?" Trixie had a small blush on her face just thinking about going on a date with him. "Of course Trixie, besides I did saw that you too would look cute together didn't I?" Trixie rolled her eyes at her statement of them being together. "You might have mentioned it a few times."
"Well what are we waiting for, let's get ready and go out to find you a place to work!"
"Wow Sparkle you must really want me out of the house huh." Trixie jokingly said, although Twilight wasn't paying to well of attention to what Trixie said.
"Yup now let's..." Twilight realized suddenly what Trixie had said and paled slightly. "I mean no...What I meant was....I mean...uhhh...duhhh?"
Trixie was crying from how hard she was laughing, but she managed to calm herself well enough to make out coherent sentences. "Oh my goodness hehe I was only kidding Sparkle, you can calm down I promise I don't think you're trying to get rid of me."
"I...ummm...yeah okay sure."
"Awww, I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you Twilight." Trixie hugged her and put her head on her shoulder.
"It's okay, I guess I should really pay better attention huh."
"Hmmhmm yes I would think so. Don't want to get into another situation like that again do you?" She said with a smirk on her face.
"I guess not, shall we get ready for our day?"
"Well I've been ready so I'll just wait for you get get dressed."
"Alright, I'll be down in fifteen minutes."
Twilight went upstairs to get ready to take Trixie around town to look for a place to work. Trixie sat down to wait for Twilight to come back downstairs but quickly got bored after just one minute. "Ugggghhhh there has to be something to do around..." It very quickly struck Trixie just where she was living currently. "Duh, library I could have just gotten a book to read while I waited." So she got up walked to the bookshelves and started to look for a book to read, eventually she decided on a romance novel. They had always been her favorite, she never knew why, it could have been because she had never really found somepony to love her like the couples in the novels she red.
About thirty minutes later Twilight came down the stairs frantically apologizing for taking so long to get ready "I'm so sorry Trixie. I was looking for my shirt. I had laid it out yesterday in my dresser along with the rest of my outfit for today and...Trixie?"
Trixie was asleep again on the couch with the book she was reading covering her face. "Hehe ohhhh this is going to be good." Twilight had on a mischievous smile as she slowly crept up on Trixie, just as she was about to poke her sides and yell boo Trixie sprang upright and yelled as loud as she could "GOTCHA!"
Twilight let out a bloodcurdling scream "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" as she flailed about trying to back pedal away from the couch and her failed scare target. Twilight was clutching her chest as if her heart had just exploded from the sheer terror from her scare. Trixie was on the couch laughing so hard she was holding her sides and wiggling around as the laughter shook her body. She looked up only to completely stop laughing and walk over to Twilight noticing she actually had tears in her eyes and was shaking a bit from how bad Trixie had scared her.
"T-twilight are...are you alright?"
Twilight nodded slowly "Y-y-yeah...y-you j-just g-got me r-really g-good t-that's a-all." Stuttering on almost every word.
"Ummm do you want some help getting up?" Trixie offered her had to her and help her up only to have to stop Twilight from falling back down since her legs gave out from underneath her.
"Sorry, My legs just kinda get like jelly when I get really scared is all."
"Ahh, well ok, umm are you sure you're all right, I mean you did kind of scream bloody murder when I jumped up from the couch?"
"Yeah I'm fine, I just need to calm down." Twilight started taking deep breaths to calm her heart that was still beating a mile a minute.
"Well umm maybe we should get going don't you think?"
"Huh oh yeah right, that's right we're looking for a job for you, well come on let's go before you actually scare me to death." Twilight gave her a narrow-eyed stare.
"hehe uhhh, yeah l-let's go then shall we?"
Trixie motioned for the door and the two unicorns walked outside into the morning light to look for a job for Trixie.
"I just hope it's not a waitress job, I'll take anything but a waitress job." Trixie thought to herself.
Thew two then set off to the market place and commence their search.
