Chapter 3 Scout It Out!
Previous Chapter"Hey! Wake up, rookie!" I heard Zeatra yell. I chose to ignore her and keep on sleeping. It worked until she came and dumped a bucket full of cold water on my face. "AH!" I yelled as the cold water drenched my face. "Told you to wake up." Zeatra said, laughing slightly. I glared at her but got up anyways. As I changed, I thought about what I was going to do today. "Curious?" Zeatra asked. I nodded. "Well don't expect too much because it's pretty simple." Zeatra said. "Well....Ain't she enthusiastic..." I thought, sarcastically.
After we left our room, we went straight to the middle floor of the base. "Now...Oh. Here it is" ,Zeatra said next to a billboard, "To keep the rookies organized, we use this billboard to keep track of progress and some missions. Don't ask me. I didn't make this.". I was slightly confused on why they had missions during a zombie apocalypse, but decided to ignore it. "Alright...Let's see which one would suit you the best...Oh. This one is fine." Zeatra said, taking a mission off the billboard. "Here." Zeatra said, handing me the mission paper. "Escort and protect the scouter..." I said, reading the mission "Wait...It doesn't say who the scouter is.". "That'd be me" I heard a voice say. It was Vol! "Oh hey again, Vol!" I greeted. "Hey again, Halcyon!" Vol greeted back "Who ever knew that we'd be paired up to do this mission?". "Vol..." Zeatra said. "Hm?" Vol responded. "Make sure you teach this newbie." Zeatra said, hitting Vol's head. "Ow...Yeah I know what to do...They don't call me an elite scouter for nothing..." Vol said. "Wait..You're an elite scouter?" I asked. "Yep! I'm the best scouter there is!" Vol responded. "Well...If you're the best scouter, then why do you need help from a newbie?" I asked. "Well....It's more of a teaching type of thing then needing help..." Vol answered. "Well you guys need to go start now!" Zeatra said, pushing us to the entrance.
"Geez...Zeatra can be a pushover sometimes, huh?" I asked. "Yeah...But she really isn't that bad. She may not act like it, but she's pretty fun to hang out with. Anyways...I need to start scouting over in that building." Vol said, pointing at a tall, white building. It looked like a skyscraper! "According to my discoveries, I'm pretty sure we can find some survivors in there." Vol said. "Alright. Let's go!" I said and started running towards the building with Vol.
As we entered, it was dead silent and pitch black. "You sure that there are survivors here?" I asked. "Shhh..." Vol whispered "Don't talk so loudly....You'll attract the zombie-ponies...". "My bad..." I whispered back. As we walked, I saw a ton of zombie-ponies....No surprise...
"Okay...I'm pretty sure there are no survivors here, Vol..." I whispered. "Wait...Do you hear that?" Vol asked "What....The zombie-ponies?" I asked. "No! That other sound!" Vol said. I paused for a brief second and heard a quiet, faint voice. We ran towards the voice as fast as we could. We saw a green-maned, blue-bodied mare under gravel, surrounded by zombie-ponies! "C'mon!" Vol said, taking out his gun. I took out my pistol and shot the zombie-ponies. "I'll back you up. Get the mare out of there!" Vol commanded as he shot the zombie-ponies. I grabbed the mare and put her body on mine. "Alright! Let's get out of this hellhole now!" I said, as Vol and I ran out of the building, saving the mare.
