Chapters chapter 1: pinkie promise
It was just another day in ponyville, except for the three fillies that was heading into the Everfree Forest. One of them was a earth pony that had a red mane and a yellow coat. The next one was a unicorn with a lavender and pink mane and a white coat. The last was a pegasus which had a purple mane and a orange coat. All three of them didn't even have their own cutie marks. As they entered the forest all three of them simultaneously yelled "CUTIE MARK ADVENTURE SEEKERS." Applebloom, Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo was at it again with another ridiculous try to get their cutie marks. As they continued into the forest, Scootaloo noticed a pegasus stallion was sleeping in a tree. Which is weird cause pegasi usually sleep in clouds. She decided to climb up and see why he was up there, using her wings to help her climb. Applebloom finally noticed that Scootaloo wasn't next to her, so she turned around and said "what are ya doing?" Scootaloo finally got to where the sleeping pegasus was and fluttered onto his stomach, that apparently woke up the pegasus. When he opened up his eyes, he saw Scootaloo close to his face. Which startled him, making him fall out of the tree, and flat on the ground. By the time Scootaloo finally hovered to the ground, the pegasus groaned in pain. The girls walked up to the pegasus to get a closer look. He had a grizzly brown mane and a light grey coat. His cutie mark looked of a wolf howling. It took at least five to six minutes before he got up.
"Heh, sorry about that dude" Scootaloo said with a half smile.
"Where did you three fillies come from?" He said still recovering from the fall.
"We came from ponyville just yonder" Applebloom said pointing from where they just came, "you got a name mister?" He paused and then said calmly " Wolf Grey, but I go by Grey." Before Grey could say another word Applebloom quickly burst out "I'm Applebloom, this is Sweetie Bell, that one over there is Scootaloo, and we are the cutie mark crusaders. We are on a search for our cutie marks." The three of them smiled very big on the subject, which made Grey quickly burst out laughing.
"Hey, it ain't funny." Applebloom said upset. All three fillies had there ears down. Grey finally calmed down, but still was giggly "Sorry, but I'm not laughing that it is funny. I'm laughing cause it's cute." After hearing that their ears perked back up and the simultaneously yelled "REALLY!"
"Yeah, really." He said still giggling at the matter. Sweetie Bell couldn't wait any longer, and blurted out "Why were you sleeping in a tree when normally pegasi sleep in clouds? I really need to know!" Grey instantly stopped laughing, surprised that the subject was brought up. Sweetie Bell blushed realizing what she just did and looked away.
"It is... a personal matter. Lets just say that I'm hiding from somepony and if I am found then my life will be like a prison again." He answered rubbing his hoof on the back of his head. Sweetie Bell's ears perked back up to the fact that he was even willing to give an answer, she decided to ask another question "What does your cutie mark mean?"
"I can tame or calm Raging animals or dragons."
"Where are you from?"
"Canterlot. How many questions are you going to ask?"
"Just the ones on top of my head." The two stared at each other for a moment then they laughed out loud confusing the other two.
"I like you three, can you promise to not tell anypony about me. I don't want to get found." He said with a serious look in his eyes.
"If you tell me who you're hidding from." Sweetie Bell said all smiley.
"Gem Dress, now can you promise..." Sweetie Bell didn't even let Grey finish, for now she was squealing.
"You mean the high society, noble blooded unicorn that lives in canterlot!" Sweetie Bell squealed.
"The very same, wait what?" He couldn't believe that he just met somepony that knows Gem Dress.
"She comes to buy dresses at my older sister's boutique once every season. You didn't steal anything from her did you?" Sweetie Bell said curiously.
"Of course not, she's my fiance." He quickly put both of his hoofs over his mouth. The one thing he tried to not say, slipped out anyway. The girls mouths gaped open the the fact that they are talking to noble blood. Considering that noble blood only marries noble blood. Grey flopped on his back and sighed loudly. Damn, he thought, damn it all. He sat back up seeing that they still had there mouths gaping open.
"Yep, I'm noble blood. I'm not proud of it though." Grey sigh heavily at the thought, "Can you still promise to not tell anypony." They stared at each other for a moment like they had a silent conversation and Grey wasn't apart of it. Finally they all faced Grey and Applebloom said "We'll give ya a pinkie promise instead." Then they simultaneously smiled big. Grey rose one eye brow and said "Pinkie promise? What's that?" All of the girls were know surprised by the fact that Grey even asked the question, which made him feel nervous at the sudden reaction.
"Ya mean ya never heard of a pinkie promise?" Applebloom said stepping closer to Grey. He just smiled nervously and replied "First time hearing about it actually. What is it?"
"You never break a pinkie promise or pinkie pie won't let you hear the end of it." Scootaloo said firmly, "she has a weird ability to tell who made a pinkie promise without even needing to be around when it's made."
"Pinkie pie?" He said raising a eye brow. Sweetie Bell just smiled and cheerfully said "She's they number one party pony." Grey had only one way to respond to that, so he sighed and said "Okay." As soon as he said that all three of them said "Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." Grey just laughed at the phrase, then said "Interesting, we should hang out some time. Except not today, it's getting late. Better head home before somepony starts worrying about you." They then said goodbye for the day and left Grey to himself.
"Those three are to lively... ... ...time to sleep." He flew up to the tree branch he was previously sleeping on and fell asleep.
Author's Note
This chapter didn't have much in it obviously, but the chapter still fulfilled its purpose. The chapter was to explain Wolf Grey as a new character to the mlp universe. The story will get more interesting so if you have ideas about the story, don't hesitate to tell me. I look forward to any ideas that might make the story exciting. I plan to have fluttershy appear in the next chapter. I'll have chapter 2 up as soon as possible. Thank you
It was just three days after Grey was discovered by the three fillies. They have had picnics everyday now, at the same location where they met him. Applebloom, which is the first to appear, had finally arrived.
"Sorry I'm late everypony. Ma big sis won't leave me alone about were I keap disappearing to all day." Applebloom said finally taking a seat on the cloth that Sweetie Bell always brings.
"You know I don't want them to get the wrong idea, like I'm some kind of foalcon. I even don't want them to worry about you." Grey said while about to take a bite out of a apple that Applebloom brought. Applebloom frowned "Ya don't like our company?" She started to cry, which made Grey panic "No it isn't that. I enjoy your company."
"I knew ya liked us!" Applebloom said quickly changing her emotion and smiled largely. Grey slapped his hoof on his head realizing what just happened. Sweetie Bell and Applebloom giggled at him while Scootaloo just plain out laughed at him.
"What's a foalcon?" Sweetie Bell asked tilting her head. Grey panicked at was he said.
"It's not a good thing, let's leave it at that." Grey said worried that they will ask their elders what a foalcon is, "just don't ask your elders what a foalcon is, okay?" The girls simply nodded their heads and Grey sighed in relief. The girls listened to him talk about his life, since he listened to them talk about their lives on the previous day's. He talked about his home, about his family, and even Gem Dress. When he talked about her the girls realized why he was hiding. He mentioned his pal Al and his butler more than he needed to. It seemed like Al and his butler were his only friends, until he said "And then that was when I saw this purple unicorn standing alone. I remember that I was still just a colt at the time. I walked up to her and I asked are you waiting for your friends? She looked at me and said I don't have any friends. So after she said that I did what anypony with a heart would do. I said I'm Wolf Grey and what is your name? She then had this surprised look on her face. Finally she said I'm Twilight Sparkle and are we now friends?" He said then bit into another apple. The girls dropped their mouths open at the fact that they are talking to a pony that knew Twilight Sparkle before them.
"When was the last time you saw her?" Applebloom asked without mentioning that Twilight Sparkle now lives in Ponyville.
"Lets see... that would have to be when she was excepted as Princess Celestia's personal student. Al and I went to congratulate her personally, but her parents said that she left at day's break to be early. I tried to see her multiple times, except I kept missing her. Eventually I gave up. Some time later Al told me she left, but I never got the location of where she went." He drank more lemonade Scootaloo brought and layed back.
"Well Twilight Sparkle is living in ponyville right now." Sweetie Bell said smiling. Grey sat back up and said firmly "What?"
"Twilight-Sparkle-is-living-in-ponyville-right-now." Scootaloo said just to annoy him.
"You want us to take you there?" Sweetie Bell said still smiling. Grey had a stern look on his face, he was not amused, "your pulling my hoof?"
"No we ain't. We can take you there in lickity split." Applebloom said with a serious look in her eyes. Grey sighed and then smiled taking up their offer. About fifteen minutes later the three fillies snuck Grey about halfway to Twilight's house though the alleys.
"We're almost there, so don't worry." Sweetie Bell said smiling again. Grey smiled back and said "it's fine, I'm not worrying." After Grey said that, Applebloom said "I just remembered that I had to pick something up for Granny Smith. Can you wait a moment, it ain't gonna take long." Grey nodded and Applebloom went to get the thing. As Applebloom came back she heard a noise and turned to see that it was a runaway old wagon. Grey apparently saw it too, cause he started to yell "Applebloom get out of the way! Applebloom!" She just stood there terrified, so Grey decided to run out to save her. He didn't have enough time to move her out of the way, so he jumped on her to shield her from the impact. He then got up and backed away a little from Applebloom.
"You okay?" Grey could barely utter a word he was in so much in pain. Applebloom nodded, but held back the tears. She blamed herself that Grey was hurt.
"Good, that's good." After he said that Grey pasted out. Applebloom couldn't hold back the tears now as she shook him and yelled "GREY! GREY! WAKE UP GREY! GREY!"
Grey must have been out for a while cause not only that he is in a hospital, but his side didn't hurt as much as when he was hit by the wagon. He looked to his right to see Applebloom curled up on a chair sleeping soundly. Grey just smiled and thought one word, cute. Suddenly the door opened up and a earth pony mare entered the room. Grey pressed his hoof to his mouth and then pointed to the sleeping Applebloom. The mare had a yellow mane tied with a red band and had a orange coat. She even wore a hat and she smelled like the apple's Applebloom always brings. Her cutie mark was of three red apples. Grey assumed that she was Applebloom's older sister Applejack.
"Sugarcube must have tuckered herself out waiting for ya to wake up. She blamed herself for not moving, she decided to not leave this room cause of what happened. She really wanted to see ya wake up and walk ya back herself. Names Applejack by the way, nice to meet ya." She whispered holding a hoof out. Grey shook her hoof and whispered "I'm Wolf Grey, but I go by Grey. Applebloom has told me a lot about you." She just smiled and whispered back "nothin' bad I hope." Grey let out a soft chuckle, "don't worry about that." Applebloom then yawned and rubbed her eyes. She looked at the smiling Grey, and stared for a couple seconds. Tears started to form in her eyes as she pounced on Grey whimpering, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" Grey instantly hugged Applebloom and said softly "It isn't your fault Applebloom. I'm just glad that you're okay." He let her cry till she was ready to walk him out. As they entered the market Grey accidentally bumped into a mare and made her squeal. He didn't even know that he will see something so beautiful in all his life. The mare was a pegasus with a light pink mane and a yellow coat. Her cutie mark was three butterflies. Applebloom waved a hoof in front of Grey's face and said "Equestria to Grey, come in Grey." The mare seemed to notice Applebloom and quickly responded "Oh Applebloom. I'm glad that you finally left that hospital room. I was going to see you after I went shopping. Are you the pony that saved Applebloom?" All Grey could muster was a hourse "yeah." He never heard of a more angelic voice. She smiled and the said goodbye leaving Grey to stand a couple of minutes before asking Applebloom "Who is she?" Applebloom tilted her head and replied "Ya mean Fluttershy? She a good friend of ma big sis an' Twilight." Fluttershy was the name of his angel, the name he will surely not forget.
Author's Note
I hope you wanted to hug Applebloom cause I did when I was writing it, and yes fluttershy finally made her appearance. It turned out better than I thought. I also thank harlequinDoll for being my first like to the story. I look forward to seeing any comments about the story or idea's for the story.
Chapter 3: Welcoming Committee
Grey was sleeping in his tree like usual, except for the fact that he is still sore from the incident. Other then that, he considered it just another day in his tree. He suddenly woke up to a sudden weight on his stomach. Grey chuckles at the unusually heavy weight and said "Scootaloo I must have been out cold for a long time, because you seem to have gotten bigger." He opens up his eyes to see a pegasus mare instead of Scootaloo. The mare has a blue coat and a mane of six colors.
"Your not Scootaloo." He said with a puzzled look on his face, "but you do look familiar." The mare smiled with glee and started boasting "I'm Rainbow Dash! Winner of the Hot Flier Competition! Saved the Wonderbolts!" He shook his head "Doesn't ring a bell." Rainbow Dash started to look gloomy and did a weak smile saying "I invented the Sonic Rainboom." Grey smiled at Rainbow Dash as he said "Now I remember! After the whole changling incident, I saw you do that Rainboom. That was something special."
"Really?" Rainbow Dash squealed at Grey. Grey nodded at Rainbow Dash and said "Yes really. I don't want to by rude, but it's getting hard to breathe." Rainbow Dash flapped her wings and lifted off Grey's stomach. Grey finally realized that there was two other mares with her. One of which was Applejack and the other was a unicorn. The unicorn had a silky purple mane and a pure white coat. She also seemed to be wearing some kind of fancy yellow hat which a white band and small pink flowers. Grey fluttered to the ground followed by Rainbow Dash.
"Now I know Applejack, but who are you?" Grey asked raising a eye brow. The unicorn chuckled at Grey as though he wasn't noticing something.
"Why darling! The names Rarity. I'm Sweetie Bell's older sister." She said tilting her head with a smile. Grey scanned Rarity up and down realizing what he missed.
"Huh? I don't know how I could miss the resemblance. When I first saw Applejack, I already saw the resemblance instantly. I wonder why I miss it." Grey said confused and also slightly embarrassed. Applejack started to laugh out loud.
"I think it's because Rarity can be full of herself at times. You don't have to worry about not noticing sugercube. Sometimes I forget the two are siblings." Applejack said still laughing.
"Applejack! That was rude and uncalled for." Rarity said with a scowl on her face. She was really upset by the sudden comment.
"Just let it go Rare, or have you forgotten that AJ's element is Honesty?" Rainbow Dash said raising a eye brow. Rarity looked at Applejack and then quickly jolts her head away. She made it easy to tell that Applejack hurt her feelings. A bit of a drama queen, Grey thought looking at Rarity, but she makes a point.
"Gee I'm sorry sugercube. Didn't meen to hurt your feelings." Applejack said trying to get Rarity to look at her. Grey was starting to wonder why they came in the first place. Plus Applebloom, Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo was always here this time of day.
"AJ give it up. Lets do what we came here for." Rainbow Dash said in an annoyed tone.
"Applebloom, Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo wanted us to pick ya up an' take ya to Sweet Apple Acres." Applejack said still looking at Rarity. Applejack started poking Rarity on the side, until Rainbow Dash fluttered between the two mares.
"Can we just escort him there?" Rainbow Dash said clearly making it easy to tell that she was annoyed by the two.
"Let's!" Rarity said and started to walk towards the location.
"Just give it time. I'm sure she's not the type to hold a grudge." Grey said to Applejack with a awkward smile. He seriously didn't know how to deal with the situation, so he was winging it.
"Eeyup!" Applejack said then turned around and left.
"Yeah this could have gone better." Rainbow Dash said then the last two ponies started to move to Sweet Apple Acres too.
By the time the four of them got there, Grey could see most of the apple trees. At least he thought he did anyway.
"We're goin' in the barn over there." Applejack said pointing to the barn with her hoof. Grey nodded and proceeded to the barn. Rainbow Dash knocked on the barn door and it opened slightly. Grey could tell that Rainbow Dash was talking to somepony, but couldn't quite make out the words. Rainbow Dash signaled Rarity and Applejack to walk in. As soon as they disappeared into the barn Rainbow Dash signaled Grey to walk in and then she walked into the barn as well. Grey shrugged his shoulders before walking in as well. The inside was dark until the lights came on, then quickly followed by a "SURPRISE!" Grey was astonished at the sudden one word outburst, then he smiled. Still the smile didn't last long, because a earth pony mare was now in his face hopping up and down. She had a pink bobbing mane, a pink coat, and she was talking so fast that Grey's head started to hurt. He then put his hoof on her mouth, which instantly shut her up. Grey took a deep breath and sighed in relief.
"I can't even tell what you are saying. I don't know what drug your on that is making you this hyper, but you need to lower the dosage." Grey said then lowered his hoof to the ground. The hyper mare giggled and said "it's called smiles."
"Ya have to excuse Pinkie pie. She's head of the welcoming committee." Applebloom said, "Ya still get to see ya old friend Twilight." Grey scanned the room. He saw Applejack, Applebloom, Sweetie Bell, Rarity, Pinkie pie, Scootaloo, Rainbow Dash, and even his beloved Fluttershy. He even saw a purple alicorn, with a pink and purple mane.
"Hi Grey. It's kind of embarrassing that I forgot about about you, but it's good to see you after all these years." The purple alicorn said smiling. Grey narrowed his eyes and walked closer the the alicorn.
"Twilight Sparkle? Well buck me, it is you." Grey said widening his eyes and smiled, "I couldn't tell at first cause you have wings. Wow, your a alicorn. Did not see that that coming. When did it happen?"
"Well..."Twilight didn't even get two words in when Rainbow Dash interrupted, "She'll tell you later. Hey do you drink?" Grey nods at Rainbow Dash's question.
"Awesome! Your me new drinking buddy!" Rainbow Dash proclaimed.
"What happened to your old one?" Grey asked raising a eye brow.
"She moved to Manhattan." Rainbow Dash said shrugging.
"Fine, give me a fizzy apple cider. We'll start now." He said as he held out a hoof with a smile. Little did Grey know being found out will end badly sooner or later.
Author's Note
He finally got to see Twilight. There was a similar situation in this chapter, to chapter one. In the first chapter Scootaloo was on Grey's stomach, while Applebloom and Sweetie Bell was on the ground. In this chapter Rainbow Dash, who Scootaloo idolizes, was on Grey's stomach, while the older sister's of Applebloom and Sweetie Bell was on the ground. Well if you didn't know is at first, now you do.
chapter 4: Fluttershy's place
Grey woke up in an unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar room, with a very familiar purple Dragon. Grey stared at the dragon and tilted his head.
"The names Spike and your mind Twilight 's spare bed." The purple dragon said and Grey's ears perked up.
"Spike! Wow when I first saw you, you were only just born. I wasn't there when you were hatched, but..." Grey trailed off and then realized one small fact. He is in Twilight's house. Grey quickly got out of bed and dashed down the stairs to see Twilight reading a book. Grey snuck up to Twilight and then felt a tug on his tail. He looked back at his tail and saw that a purple glow wrapped around his tail.
"Morning Grey, do you have a headache?" Twilight asked, but didn't move away from the book.
"What headac..." Grey didn't even finish as his head pounded hard.
"You drank a lot, plus I don't think that the drinking contest with Applejack and Rainbow Dash helped. You ended up telling a lot of stories, plus you told me something. Your in love with Fluttershy." Twilight said And her horn sparked. Grey's head stopped aching and Twilight closed the book she was reading. She turned around and glanced at Grey. He then gulped as if she was going to kill him, which is entirely possible for a unicorn, except now Twilight is a alicorn, which is extremely scary. She walked up to Grey and glared at him.
"She is a very easily scared mare, so if you make her cried, so help me..." Twilight stopped talking and her cheeks popped out with trying to hold back her laughter. She started to crack up that Grey didn't even know if he should be pissed or worried.
"The felt good, that revenge felt so good. That scare was for all those times that you grabbed me from behind and scared the living shit out of me." Twilight said. Grey shrugged in agreement, for he already knew that he kinda deserved that scare.
"I thought that you were going to kill me." Grey said And Twilight started to crack up laughing again. A knock on Twilight's door instantly made Twilight stop laughing and was instantly ready to open the door in only a couple second. Grey didn't know that she would react that fast, frankly he hadn't seen her since she was a filly, so he does technically have an excuse.
"Fluttershy, welcome." Twilight said And Grey instantly hide.
"I came to see if Grey is alright. He passed out in the middle of the party, well that's what Pinkie said at least." Fluttershy said smiling brightly. Grey continued to hide and Twilight seemed to notice.
"Fluttershy, he is still in bed at the moment and I was wondering if you could let him stay at your place for a couple days. I'm extremely busy and I need to get it all done." Twilight said smiling.
"Oh? What are you doing?" Fluttershy asked kindly, then added a, "if you don't mind telling me that is."
"Just something for... Princess... Luna! Yes that is right. Celestia was to busy with her princess duties that she asked me to help Luna with... stuff." Twilight said And she could hear Grey facehoofing.
"Stuff?" Fluttershy asked tilting her head to the side. Twilight nodded yes and prayed that she didn't have to make something up.
"Well okay... I suppose that it is alright." Fluttershy said And Grey's ears perked up, "I mean, since he... um... saved Applebloom and... get injured from doing so. So... um... That book about birds... I came to return it." Fluttershy pulled out the book from her saddlebag and hooves to over to Twilight. Once the door was closed, Grey was jumping up and down repeating the word yes over and over again. Until he noticed Spike was looking at him funny, then he stopped and cleared his throat.
"I've gained that habit from Grey, cause he did it a bunch when the three of us were little." Twilight said And Spike looked confused.
"Three?" Spike asked.
"Me, Grey, and Al. Sure I still hanged out with my big brother and I still had Cadance, but the three of us always hanged out together." Twilight said.
"Until you became Celestia's personal student." Grey said And Twilight blush with embarrassment of the small fact.
"Well, I'll be going then to Fluttershy's place. Now you can do your stuff ." Grey said chuckling and left the building. It was a little bit later in the marketplace when a white unicorn mare with a crazy blue mane ran into Grey. They both fell down with Grey on top of her. He quickly got off and helped her up.
"You okay?" Grey asked trying to ignore the fact that he was on top of a mare.
"It's fine, don't worry about it dude. Yo, you new?" The mare asked getting closer.
"Yeah, no.... I've been here for a week now I thing." Grey replied.
"Yo, that's cool. I'm taking you for a drink. The names Vinyl Scratch, but when I'm doing my dubstep recordings or concerts, I go by DJ Pon3. Surely you've heard of me." The mare said proudly.
"Sorry, no. I come from a noble blooded family in Canterlot. I'll I've listened to is classical. Not that I don't like it, it's more like I'm bored of hearing the exact same song over and over again." Grey said shrugging.
"Well then you definitely need a drink." Vinyl said And started to pulling Grey.
"Maybe some other time. I'm going somewhere." Grey said And Vinyl let go.
"Well alright, I'll be waiting though." Vinyl said before walking away. Grey continued until he reached Fluttershy's Cottage, thanks to the directions that he needed after he realized that he didn't know where he was going. Grey knocked on the door and when the door opened, he looked down to see a bunny had opened the door.
"Um... I'm supposed to stay here for a couple days. I'm Wolf Grey, but I go by Grey." Grey said and then the bunny motioned for Grey to come inside. Grey walks in and the bunny points upstairs.
"She is upstairs. I can wait for her down here." Grey said And the bunny points upstairs again.
"No, no need for me to go upstairs." Grey said and the bunny jabs his paw upstairs.
"Okay, I'm going." Grey said and walked upstairs. The bunny wanted him to tell Fluttershy that he is here. He heard moaning inside of a barely open door and Grey thinking that Fluttershy is injured, barges into the room.
"What happened, are you okay?" Grey asked and then blushed when he realized that he accidentally barged into Fluttershy's private moment.
"Grey!" Fluttershy said blushing red as a cherry.
"S-sorry, I'll leave." Grey said unable to look at Fluttershy the right way. He closed the door and bolted out as fast as he could.
"Grey wait!" Fluttershy yelled after him, but he was gone before she made it to the front door.
Grey had ran to to a house after once again asking for directions. He knocked on the door and the door opened.
"Vinyl... you still want that drink?" Grey asked.
