Applejack ran. She darted through the dark, scary trees, finally reaching the border of the forest. She had to tell Twilight about what she had just seen. She could figure out what was happening. Applejack stopped and let herself catch her breath, wiping the sweat off her forehead as she did so.

She carried on, down the mile-long pathway until she reached the path into ponyville. She galloped on, past the startled ponies around her. She was nearing sugarcube corner now, she could see it in the distance. She was about to flash past it, but somepony stopped her.

"Hey AJ! Where are you going in such a super-duper hurry?" Asked a high, bouncy voice.

"I need to tell Twi somethin', Pinkie."

"Ooooh, what is it? Can I come?"

"I'll tell ya later. Now come on!"

With Pinkie behind her, Applejack streaked up the cobblestone path and got to Twilight's house at last. Knocking on the door as hard as Applejack could, a faint answer could be heard. Hoofsteps were heard and the door swung open, Twilight at the door with spike at her side.

"Twilight! I'm glad to see ya. Ah need tah tell ya somethin'." Applejack said.

Twilight looked at Pinkie questioningly.

"Oh. Pinkie's here because she wanted to know as well. There's no time to explain. You need to know right away."

"So, what is it? And why in Celestia's name do you look so worn out?"

"We ran here!" Answered Pinkie. Despite the fact that she ran quote a distance as well, she strangely didn't show it. "Applejack said she ran aaaall the way here, and I thought, this must be super-duper important if she ran so far!"

"So, Applejack, what is the matter? Asked Twilight.

"Well, it's a long story. Winona is ill, ya see. It's nothin' too serious, but I thought Zecora might have a cure. So ah went in the everfree forest, but on the way, there was somethin' like ah have never seen before. It was almost like... A portal to a different world. Ah ran over to ya as soon as ah saw it. Ah thought that you would know what to do."

Twilight looked speechless for a couple of moments before answering.

"I don't think I have any spells that can help. Maybe I should ask Princess Celestia for help...?" Twilight thought aloud. "Yes, that's what I'll do. Spike, a letter to Princess Celestia."

"Yes, Right away, Twilight." The Assistant said faithfully.

"Ready?" Twilight asked, "Dear Princess Celestia,
today something very strange has been found in the Everfree forest by Applejack. She says that she found a portal-like object, and she ran to me for help on what to do. Unfortunately, I don't know any spells that would help. Will you please help me and give me some advice on what to do?
Your faithful student,
Twilight Sparkle."

"Shall I send it, Twilight?"

"Yes. Right away, it may grow dangerous if we let it go on."

With a blow of green smoke, the letter was gone.

Almost immediately the reply came.

"Okay," said spike, burping it up, "Have a look."

The three ponies and the baby dragon looked at the letter.

On the parchment, it said:

Dear Twilight, My faithful student,
I agree that there are not very many spells that would fix a problem like this. I have asked my Royal Guards to look for a spell that may fix this, but until then there is nothing much I can do. In the meantime, however, we must investigate so that we know what spells would be useful. I have a fear that if we let large amounts of time pass before fixing it, it may grow bigger therefore creating trouble. My sister and I will also be accompanying you, to see if there is anything we can do to help. I suggest that you bring a large group of ponies, in case there is any trouble.

Princess Celestia

"Who shall we bring?" Twilight asked.

"Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Derpy, Bonbon, Lyra, Big Mac, Zecora, Berry Punch, Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, and..." Pinkie said confidently, "Maybe the Cutie Mark Crusaders? They would love to come and try to get a cutie mark of some sort."

"Uh.. The Cutie Mark Crusaders..." Applejack said hesitantly, "Are you sure?"

"They might want to try and earn their cutie marks." Said Twilight, "They are pretty desperate for one. Why don't you let them?"

"Aw, shucks... Ah guess they won't do no harm." Applejack replied.

"Then let's gather everypony! Meet you here at three o'clock."

Soon everypony was gathered in Twilight's library. It was rather squashed in there, but everypony managed to fit.

"Why are we here?" Rainbow dash said, hovering above the other ponies, "I was gonna practise my flying!"

"Everypony!" Shouted Twilight, "We are here because Applejack found a portal in the everfree forest. Princess Celestia instructed me to take a group of ponies with me to investigate!"

"Well, What are we waiting for, darling? Let's go!" Rarity said.

They were soon in the everfree forest, Almost everypony scared out of their wits. The princesses comforted them a little as they landed next to the group of ponies.

"I want to go home." Said Fluttershy.

"It'll be over soon, don't you worry Fluttershy." Said Applejack comfortingly. "We're almost here." She added as they entered the gloomier part of the forest. "Just a few more Hoofsteps-"

But she was interrupted by something that seemed to be pulling them in towards it.

"What in the hay!?" Rainbow said, "We're being sucked in!"

She was right. In a matter of seconds, the ponies were sucked into the portal, straight into another world.
