Hearts and Hooves day is a day for couples all over Equestria to be together with their very special somepony.
The air was a bit chilly and all the snow was gone from the winter wrap up a few day’s ago, in a small town called Ponyville a dark gray pegasus with a brown mane was walking along the dirt road to Sweet apple acers to ask his marefreand’s cusin a little question.
Lucky for him Applejack was just finished with her chores for the day and was about to go inside to most likely take a shower.
"Hey, Applejack, how are you today?" the stallion asked
“Why hello Lightning, how are ya?” Applejack asked wiping some sweat off her brow.
“Oh i’am fine thanks but i came here to ask you a question” Lightning was saying while walking along side Applejack.
“Well shoot if y'all need help i’ll be glad to help ya out. Now what was it that you wanted.”
“Well you see, it’s Hearts and Hooves day and i have no idea what to get Apple Fritter for the day. I mean i have already reserved a table for two at one of the restaurant in Ponyville ‘Lè chante de equine’ and i plan on doing some star watching on a small hill hear on the farm.
Only problem is that i have nothing in the way of gifts, and i thought that you might know what she wants.
So that what i have come here for, for any tips on what she might like.” he said while walking in a small circle.
Applejack stepped in front of Lightning to stop him in his tracks so she could speak to him without moving in a circle her self.
“First off stop moving i know you are nerves and all but i need to look in ya eye to say this to ya.
You have dated Applefriter for about six months now and i think you know what to get her. All you need is to think on what would make her happy and i know that you know what that is. I like you Strike and i consider you family and all, and i think i know what you should give her, or rather ask her.
Lightning was looking at Applejack with a confused look on his face at first but then he got what she meant.
What are you serious? it’s only been six months, don’t you think that is a bit fast?”
Applejack was looking at him and then she simply patted him on his shoulder.
“that is something i can't help you decide. but i see the way she looks at you and i think it is time to do it.
Now if you excuse me i have to get ready for ma date with Rainbow so see you later Lighting.
Applejack walked inside the farmhouse Leaving Lighting to think on what Applejack just told him. With a sudden spark in his eye’s he hurried down to the dirt road to Ponyville to get ready for his evening with AppleFritter.
Evening time around Ponyville in the night time is like a chilly but warm feeling. at Least that how it was for Lightning Strike on this particular evening. In his saddlebags he had one gift and a bag of bits.
After their dinner at ‘Lè chante de equine Lightning Strike and Applefritter was on the dirt road to Sweet apple acres.
Passing the farm and heading to a small hill a short 20 minute walk from the farm itself they sat down under a tree on top of the hill watching the stars and enjoying a Applefritters gift to Lightning which was Lightning Bolt shaped fritters with a sweet taste to it.
While eating his fritter Lighting was sweating just a little waiting for the opportune time to ask Fritter the all important question with was also his gift to her.
“Ok i think i have stalled enough away from your gist Fritty.” he said while sitting himself up from his relaxed position that he was in.
“These last six months have been the most wonderful in my entire life and i owe it all to you Applefritter. I have had crushes and marefriends before and you know that, but none of em is like you, you simply are one in a thousand mares out there and i am one of the luckiest stallions in this world to have you as my marefreand.”
Lightning strike stood up and reached into his saddlebag taking a small baby blue box out of it and giving it to Applefritter while she opened it Lightning Strike was mentally preparing himself to say these small simple words.
Looking in to her widened eyes as she saw what was in the small box Lightning swallowed a big lump that he had in his throat.
“Applefritter you are the mare of my dreams and i want to spend the rest of my life with you as part of you wonderful family and you are the pony that has truly made me happy. So i ask you this. Will you marry me?”
With a wide eyed expression on her face Applefitter looked up at Lightning strike.
Placing the box on the side she sat herself up and looked at the stars with tears in her eyes, turning around to look at Lightning again she simply stood up and hugged him.
“Yes Lightning i will marry you.” Releasing her self from the hug to give him a loving kiss on the lips.
The rest of the night flew by and it ended on a happy note.
Parting the kiss Applefritter looks up to Lightning with a small glint in her eye’s.
“You have no idea how long i have waited for you to pop the question to me Strike. I was almost starting to wonder if you were going to ask at all. This is the best Hearts and Hooves day yet. And i’am glad i’am spending it with you.”
With that she bolted forward to give Lightning Strike yet another kiss filled with passion and love.
