Or you'll be late for your meeting with the commander!" "Thank you, Sarge!" Darin replied to the the yelling Sargent. "Just shut up and run!" Darin ran down the hall towards the commander's office, taking his newest invention; a special armor suit. Quickly he knocked on the door. "Who is it?! I'm busy!" "It's Darin, Sir," the Sargent said. "Come in." "What do you have to show me Darin?" the commander asked. "I just finished this new battle suit to use in combat against the Mergs. I call it the A.A.M.S.S. It stands for American Anti-Mergian Space Suit." "Don't think this invention will get you out of guard duty tonight." "I most certainly won't think that. I would like to test the AAMSS while on guard duty. This suit has many abilities: morph, IDoUL (Identification of Unique Lifeforms), enhanced strength, and extreme vision (infrared and night vision)." "Incredible," the two officers said at the same time. The commander then asked, "May we see it on?" "Yes" Darin replied. First he put on the chest plate. It was black with a bright blue stripe down the left side of the front, two and a half inches wide, with the numbers 001 in bright blue on the right side. Next he attached the arms pieces; black forearm-guard, upper arm, with bright blue shoulder-bells, and black gloves with the index and middle finger having a blue stripe going to the wrist. Then he applied leg guards. He started with the thigh piece which was completely black, shinguards that were black with some scratches, and rubber-soled shoes with black metal uppers and a bright blue insulator on the inside. Last but not least, the helmet. It was black with a bright blue two and a half inch wide stripe on the chin-guard, and two blue dots on his forehead. A second later Darin sniffed. In response to his sniff, a strip of blue metal slid from one side to the other, as part of the chin-guard moved up to cover his nose. After that all the blue flashed and lit up. Darin raised his arms and asked, "How do I look?" Darin looked at the two officers. The commander responded, "Like a war machine." "Well, do your test tonight, and if the test is a success, we will upgrade all special-ops units to this suit," the Commander said. "Ok, but they won't all look the same," informed Darin. "That's fine," was the reply. It was midnight and at guardpost #15, Darin McDur saw something out of the corner of his eye. “Halt! Who goes there?” Darin asked, as he raised his laser rifle to the ready. "We will never stop Destroying puny things like you, Darin!" a Merg -almost twenty feet tall- said in a robotic voice, as he shot at Darin. "Wait... how do you- AGH!!!" Darin tried to say, but got shot instead. "Well I'm just glad this armor can withstand that!" "AGH!!! You shall burn to death!" the Merg said using his flamethrower to scorch Darin. Bright blue flames engulfed the remains of the guardpost. In the sky there were thousands of stars, ten stars were the brightest, and those ten stars made the shape of a bigger star. "Uh... What is happening to me??! Is this how I die? Is this the end?" A bright flash of light engulfed Darin, sent him to a new world with a force strong enough to knock him out. When Darin came to, he felt a slight pain in his rear-end, and his chest. He was able to get a look around himself. He was in a forest full of pine saplings to full grown trees. He noticed something was out of place. It was charcoal-black with black and electric blue hair. Was it... a horse? It didn't look like there was a saddle anywhere. He ran over to it and scanned its bone structure for any fractures. He looked it over on his holographic visor; there were no bone fractures and the IDoUL wasn't able to identify the species of horse. The animal moved, in reflex Darin selected to morph into an identical animal. After the morphing was complete his holographic visor showed the statistics of the origin of the... person? This animal thought for itself, just like a person would, just like HE would. Language: Equestrian. Species: Unicorn. Gender: Female. Name: Unknown. Home country: Unknown. Mother: None. Father: None. Age: 17. Age Name: Teen. "How did that happen?" Darin thought. The charcoal-black unicorn's eyes fluttered open. The two unicorns locked eyes. They were beautiful, some of the biggest, bluest eyes he had ever seen in his life. He then started to notice the perfect ears sticking straight up, with the pitch-black and electric blue hair, flowing off her head. Darin broke the lock when he heard a twig snap. "Who is there!" he said. "u ay ny Twilight," a purple unicorn said pointing at herself. "Huh? Twilight? Odd name. Now tell me what you are doing here." "hyt nokow" she said motioning us to follow. "Now why would I want to follow you?" he said pulling out his laser rifle. "mi con hp u" was the reply. "Hmmm......." he said as his helmet scanned the unicorn. "Ok... not completely harmless but doesn't want to hurt me or the unicorn on the ground.... Ok, I'll come," he said looking at the charcoal-black unicorn. The trio exited the forrest, passed a small cottage, went over a bridge, passed a house that looked like it was made out of cake, and stopped at a huge tree practically in the middle of the town; it was a tree library. The purple unicorn ushered them inside. It was full of books, just what Darin was looking for. He ran over to a shelf, took a book off and started to read as his helmet's scanner scanned the book to translate the words to english. * TRANSLATION COMPLETE * his helmet told him. "Lovely, now I can talk to them, and read. YAY!!" he said. "What are you so happy about?" Twilight said. "Uh...... being able to read?" Darin said as he put the book he was holding with his hooves on the top shelf where he had gotten it, and got a new book on the shelf 2nd from the top. "That is something to be happy about." "Uh huh" he said as he buried his face in the book. It read: "One pony will face HIS worst enemy. At that time HE will go though the toughest part of HIS life. HE will experience; regret, pain, loss, defeat, remorse, happiness, and guilt. HE shall defeat HIS worst nightmare, HE shall lose HIS best friend, but HE will get more friends, better friends, HE shall learn HIS destiny. HE shall rise from the dust. HE will be known as a hero." "Whoa... what is this book called?" Darin said as he flipped the book over. " 'What Shall Happen at Starlight', huh interesting book..." "Ok everypony! It is late, I think it is time for bed. Let me show you where you two will be sleeping," Twilight said. She brought us down to the basement of the library and showed us a king sized bed, with books scattered all over the place. "Oh... boy..."Darin said. "I'm dreadfully sorry about this mess," Twilight said. "It's ok. It's just that... well there is one bed. But I guess it'll be fine," he replied. "Good. Whelp, goodnight." "Good night!" "Ok, Steel.  You take bed," Darin said looking at her. But all she did in return was look at him with confusion. " *sigh* You get the bed, I get a bed of books, ok?" she nodded and laid down on the bed. "I've had a hard past... one of the worst... I saw them kill my wife and kids... I just hope that I'm not the one in the book, or this place will never be the same," Darin said as he was laying there on his bed of books, turned his head to the right, and saw a someone fleeting up the stars, a human. “Hey, Twilight? What's with those two black unicorns downstairs?” the human asked.
