The Banishment Of Princess Luna
It had been two months since Manehatten had found out about Princess Celestia banishing Princess Luna to the moon.
Manehatten was dark and was now filled with protestors opposing the banishment of one of their Princesses. It seemed there was no hope for anyone anymore. The Princess hasn't made a public speech since the banishment, she's afraid of the protesters.
Within the crowed of protestors was a young colt named Charm Embers, he had a red coat and a thick light brown mane. He wore a cloak most of the time, it made him feel comfortable and a little more hidden than everyone else. He has been learning the art of magic since an early age, his skills with fire magic are some of the best in Equestria.
Charm studies magic on a daily basis along with attempting to find a special somepony which usually ends up with Charm attempting to get rid of bruises from his face. He's by no means a mares man and even if he was he doesn't know the first rule of relationships anyways.
After charm has finished protesting he trots back home re-thinking what he wants to do with his life, he was a blank flank after all and didn't seem to know what his true calling was. The walk was peaceful, no interruptions, no nothing. He simply makes his way to his house to have food with his parents. His dad was a strong earth pony stallion with a thin blue textured coat, his mom was young unicorn mare with rich golden hair.
During dinner Charm's dad brings up a serious discussion about the banishment of Luna.
"Celestia's a tyrant for this you know!" Said the blue stallion
To which the unicorn mare replies "Honey, you don't need to bring this up every time we have lunch, I cook good meals for you just so you could spoil it with all this political nonsense."
"Ah but it's not nonsense, in fact I've signed me and Charm to fight for Princess Luna's freedom in the Lunar republic" said the stallion.
Charm raises his voice from his usual standard "I never agreed to this!"
"You never had to, I would have made you fight with the Lunar Republic anyways." Proclaimed the blue stallion.
"I object" shouted Charm
"You can't object son, the papers have already been signed. 5 weeks from now you will be fighting with the defensive side protecting this city of manehatten."
"You can't do this!" Shouted Charm's mother.
"Our army needs as many ponies as it can get! Princess Luna needs our help!" exclaimed the blue stallion.
There was no use, there was no way out of it, Charm had to fight the Celestial Army whether he liked it or not.
Two weeks of harsh training had past, Charm has had just about enough of the idea of war. Charm was incredibly tired of the training, to him it felt as if he'd die if he lifted his hoof once more. He was great at using his fire magic, but he couldn't keep any form of shield up for too long before he's completely tired out. This was a problem, if Charm was going to defend Manehatten he'd have to keep shields up for a much longer period of time.
Charm hasn't talked to his father since dinner two weeks ago, he hasn't forgiven his father for taking away his freedom, if anything Charm is beginning to think his dad is no better than Princess Celestia since after all she took away her sister's freedom. He still loves his father, but right now just can't show it. He still keeps in touch with his mother through notes and letters which he'll occasionally send back home.
"Why can't a kingdom just have never ending peace?" Charm says to himself
He says this to himself every night before he rests his eyes for bed so he can slave away and say it again the next night. Charm hopes that the war will be over in a few more weeks so his daily routine of sitting around and chatting up mares at the market can continue. It's defiantly not easy, conjuring fire and attacking what are essentially scarecrows as targets, and I can say it's not going to be any easier when they can actually fight back and possibly kill you. That's what they all want to do isn't it? Kill you, that's how they get their adrenaline. Charm wasn't like that, he didn't want to kill anybody, but a war is a war, and you can't let what you want get in the way of what you have to do. There will be bloodshed, Charm knows this well, Charm knows that there will be a lot of blood, but he still doesn't know if he's ready to witness many ponies being killed in front of his big brown eyes.
It was the day before the battle that Charm gained the courage to tell his father he didn't want to fight, Charm knew full well the answer wouldn't change and that he'd still have to fight but it would be worth a try regardless of what the answer is.
"Dad! I made it clear at dinner 5 weeks ago and I'll make it clear n-" Charm was interrupted by his father
"Charm, my boy!" said Charm's father in a rather nervous voice
"I told you about Mr.Borkwood right? He's the one who's in charge of the battle tomorrow." said Charm's father
"He-hello sir" Charm says with an odd nervous smile.
""Yes uh, well while I'm here do you young man want to demonstrate your abilities?" said the chief
Charm didn't know what to do, his immediate reaction was to agree to the terms and demonstrate.
Charm lit his horn as he focused on the training dummies in the corner of the room, in just a few seconds the dummies were alight and blazing brightly.
The chief was amazed by how quickly the spell was executed successfully.
"I can't believe it! You were right about your son!" said the chief.
"What are you talking about Chief?" said Charm with a confused look on his face.
"How would you like to fight on the front lines boy, as the mage of the battlefield!?" asked the chief.
Charm thought about this question, he remembered how difficult it is to conjor shields and keep them up for longer than 10 minutes. A unicorn of Charm's ability should be able to keep them up for at the very least an hour, defence wasn't Charm's good point either so the chance to fight in the front lines as an attacker appealed to Charm.
Charm takes a deep breath and answers "Yes sir, I will fight for the Lunar Republic in the front lines."
