The Past Is Never Really Forgotten
Chapter VI: It's Dangerous To Go Alone. Take This... Bass Guitar
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe Everfree Forest was dark and scary. Strange noises echoed around the two ponies and they both stayed close to one another. A low mist covered the ground around them and they walked cautiously, to avoid injuring themselves. The shadows of the trees were menacing, and rustles could be heard from the bushes all around them.
After what seemed like an eternity of traipsing through endless forest, they came to a deep chasm. Looking up, they saw the ruins of the old Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters. The two stared in awe at the ruins of this magnificent castle.
“I’d heard legends of this place, but I didn’t know it actually existed.” Said Bass quietly “It’s supposedly where Celestia banished Luna from.”
“It’s… smaller than I would have expected.” Beany stated.
“True. Wait! Did you see that?” Bass said urgently.
“What?”
“A light… Over there… in the mist. Look!”
Beany strained her eyes staring into the mist, and sure enough, there was a light flickering in the distance.
“Yes. I see it. It looks like a fire. How are we going to get there? We have to pass through this chasm.”
“Or we could… y’know… go around.” Bass was pointing at a wide ridge that bordered the castle’s chasm.
“Right. That would probably be safer.” Beany said, moving towards the ridge. “Let’s go.”
The sun is just peaking over the horizon as the duo reaches the source of the light. The mist has mostly cleared, and reveals that some pony was camped here the night before. The light was from a fire. All that remained was a pile of charred black logs, and hoof prints leading north. Beany looked at Bass with tired eyes. We’re close. This fire can’t be more than an hour or two old.
Bass looked back at Beany. “Beany… we need to sleep. Even if it’s just for an hour. We can’t keep going until we’ve slept a little.”
Beany yawned and nodded.
The two re-lit the fire and huddled beside it. They soon fell asleep.
