Rage and Sorrow

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

"No....No...." Barb softly said, tears now running down her face as she held Mike in her arms.

Moments ago, Mike willingly threw himself at the wolves whom cornered the duo. Making sure her put up a fight, Mike relentlessly fought the oncoming timberwolves until he fell due to too much sustained injuries.

And now, Barb was holding the unconscious body of her friend, Mike, in her arms. His right cheek showed a single, deep slash and his body full of claw marks and splattered with his own blood. His body seemed lifeless and yet his faced showed serenity. No regret. No sorrow. Only a single smile was on his face.

It was then that Barb snapped.

Clenching her teeth and restraining a few tears, Barb screamed, causing the trees and bushes to shake and the ground to slightly rumble. Soon afterwards, Barb's eyes were now in a neon bright green glow.

Growling and snarling, the wolves then threw themselves at their new prey.

Barb gently placed Mike's head down onto the ground and stood up, her hair messy and clothes torn. Letting out a battle cry, Barb's fist collided with the head of one of the wolves, causing it to instantly shatter into tiny splinters. As they came one by one, Barb simply threw her fist downwards, making sure it connected to the heads of the wolves, causing the wooden creatures to break apart. With the rest on their way to their prey, Barb took in a deep breathe before releasing, causing green flames to spew forth from her mouth, catching the wolves off guard.

The green inferno bathed everything in front of Barb in green flames, causing a thick black smoke to trail upwards into the sky. There was nothing stopping her. All that was in her mind was to destroyed those who caused harm to her friend.

'Destroy....Everything'

Stopping the inferno for a moment, Barb dashed forward and began hacking and slashing her opponents with her claws and her tail with rage was clouding her judgment. They all fell one by one, all of which were nothing but burnt pieces of wood in the end.

However, more came along and to their utmost surprise, the creatures saw the dragoness smile sadistically.

There was nothing stopping her rampage.

=Meanwhile=

It was currently sometime afternoon when Zecora had finally finished her delivery to the local spa place. Both Aloe and Lotus asked whether if she was free to have a small tea break with them, although Zecora had politely declined, saying that she needed to head back to check on some important matters.

And now Zecora was walking along one of the many streets of Ponyville, humming a merry tune all the while pulling her small wooden cart behind her, smiling at the running colts and fillies. However, her merry state soon turned horrid when she saw something in the Everfree Forest.

A large green fireball appeared, gradually growing smaller, with thick black smoke now encompassing most of the atmosphere around the Everfree.

Her face showed signs of concern and fear as well as from the residents of Ponyville, exclaiming things like "What is that?!" or "What caused it?". But Zecora knew what is was and where it came from. She had seen in before and it was not pleasant

Now dropping the pulley of her cart, Zecora sprinted to Twilights home, hoping that all was not too late.

=Back to where we left off=

They were gone now. The timberwolves were gone now. All that was left were burnt pieces of wood and ashes as well as collateral damage in the form of green flames still burning most of the flora and fauna that was in sight.

'Burn....Everything....' the same dark voice echoed inside of Barb's mind. She was still enraged, from the signs of her glowing neon green eyes and small trails of smoke leaving her mouth that was still holding a snarl.

However, Barb knew she was holding back. She was far more capable of destroying everything and anything in her path when she is enraged. It happened once before when her Mother was brutally injured long ago. Needless to say, no pony dared to oppose her afterwards.

She wanted to destroy more. To burn everything! Anything! But she didn't when she heard his soft voice call out to her weakly.

"....B-B-Ba...B-Barb...."

It was then that any traces of rage seemed to leave her in an instant. Her body flinching at the sound of his weak voice, her eyes widened as they returned to the normal emerald color. Now, looking the exact same as before she went berserk, her hair messy and her clothes torn.

Turning around, she saw that Mike had crawled himself to a nearby tree, his back placed against the base of the tree, still looking very bloodied. His eyes were squinting, trying to figure out whether the figure in front of him was Barb. His breathing was shallow, and all in all he looked like a newborn child, helpless and weak.

"....M-...Mike...?" Barb's replied, tears now forming in her eyes as she saw how helpless her friend looked.

Without hesitation, Barb ran next to Mike, hugging him gingerly so as to not hurt him, crying her heart out.

"...I-I'm sorry..! I-I coul-couldn't help you..! I...I was useless when you fought them!" Barb yelled out loud, gripping her friend tightly without her noticing. She tried to continue saying something but she couldn't, her emotions flooding out.

"...N-No...I...should...apologize instead....I wasn't...strong enough to....defend us....both..." Mike slowly said, his voice was still soft as he coughed out a small amount of blood, a small trail of blood ran down the side of his mouth.

"...Do-Don't talk....please....Stay with me....Don't die!....I beg of you!..." Barb yelled, tears running down her face as she kept on sobbing.

"....I-I'm...sorry....It's...so....cold now..." Mike gingerly spoke, a small smile now forming on his face

"NO!...DON'T GO!...please....don't...go" Barb yelled at first but her voice soon dropped to a whisper.

The rest of the time, Barb continued to grip onto Mike's body, a small smile planted onto his face. Nothing could be heard other than a crying dragoness holding her dear friends seemingly lifeless body.
