Prologue

Year 2187, mission clock 0700 hours military time, Martian Ruins Outside New Alexandria, Capt. Titus MRC Alpha squad, mission recording, Planet Mars.

The sun was barely up on the Martian horizon, as Alpha Squad of the Martian Ranger Corps made their descent into the ruins. Their mission, to scout out the area, and find any life within the structure.

"How's it look down there private?" Titus asked as he and the rest of the squad stood around the entrance of the ruins. Much of the planet had been terraformed enough to where it could support human life, but most of the surface remained red instead of the green fields that they were use to back at Fort Ajax.

"So far clear sir. Watch your step though, some of these rocks are loose." The private replied as he ventured deeper into the ancient alien ruins. All the squad could see was the light coming from the Private's helmet and some rock walls. Titus had made his way inside with the others behind him as they caught up with the scout.

"Find anything soldier?" He asked as he shouldered his GSM-40 Rail rifle. He received a nod, and once more began to follow the scout deeper into the ruins. What they found was something they never expected. Before them stood a massive bulkhead made up of what they could only guess was a combination of titanium, carbon, and tungsten, along with other metals they couldn't identify. "What the hell is this? Dwarven with adamantium?" Titus joked as he stepped towards the metal wall.

"I have a bad feeling about this sir..." One of the squadmates chimed in, as Titus found the door controls. It was written in some form of glyph system, that none of them understood, so he went to the next best course of action. He pressed a key. Nothing happened. He pressed another key, and there was a loud groan and hiss, as metal on metal moved against each other. A large cloud of red dust was kicked up as fresh air was sucked into the room before them.

Quickly the squad shuffled in, weapons raised as they scanned the area for anything hostile. Nothing to be seen, but more metal walls, and the glow of several consoles displaying more of the glyphs. "Those science pukes are gonna have a field day." He mumbled as he and his men fanned out.

"What is this place?" One of the privates asked in wonder, as he looked about the room.

"Not a damn clue. But that's why we're here to find out." Titus replied. "Search the area for hostiles." he barked at the rest of the squad, getting a yes sir from all of them. Minutes pass, and rapidly, he received clears from the squad before moving on to the next room.

"Sir, I've got something on the thermal sensor." The scout said as he held up a screen to show what could possibly be life. Titus looked at it intently before motioning for one of the soldiers to come forward.

"Get me ten pounds of C10. We're blowing a hole in this place to get a better look at these things." He ordered his explosives expert.

"Uh, sir, don't you think ten pounds is a bit excessive?" she replied as she began pulling off her rucksack.

"We don't know how much explosive force it'll take to blow a hole in the wall. so ten pounds ought to do it." Titus replied with a sadistic grin. His day was never complete without having something going boom.

"Understood sir." She replied as she began doing her thing.

After several minutes, and a good distance away, Titus held the detonator. There was a soft click, as he pressed the button. The ground shook violently for a moment as a loud explosion was heard within the depths of the ruins. "That's our cue." He said with a smirk as he and his men made their way back inside, weapons raised.

"I can't see shit with all this dust!" The scout complained as he looked about before switching to thermal. He let out an agonizing shriek as he was pulled deeper into the ruins.

"What the fuck was that?!" Titus barked, as he swept his GSM-40 about the room. There was another scream, and the sound of entrails splattering against the wall. "Switch to thermal and fire on sight!" He barked, as his helmet's HUD lit up with deep blues and light oranges coming right at him. He quickly opened fire on the hostile life form, being rewarded with a low growl before seeing it hit the ground motionless.

The whole room lit up in a cacophony of gunfire, as Mag Rail rounds peppered the area. Screams of pain and the sound of gore splattering on the floor could be heard on both sides, as the Aliens kept up their advance. "Fall back! Fall Back!" He barked as he fired another burst into one of the abominations that was attacking.

"What the fuck are they, homes?!" One of the soldiers cried out. Rodriguez was his name. His question was never answered as one of the things pounced on him from behind, and with a sickening tearing sound, his head rolled to Titus' feet as he and the remainder of his squad retreated, firing precise bursts into the advancing horde.

After what seemed like forever, the dust settled and the gunfire ceased. What laid before them were the bodies of their comrades and aliens, littering the floor. Red and blue gore covered the walls and floor, some of it mixing. A sickening sight for anyone.

Titus began walking through the dead bodies, putting a round into their heads for good measure. "Radio base... We found what they're looking for." he said bitterly to the survivors of his squad. He was replied to with silence as the men stood there in shock at the sight before them. "I said radio base now! That's an order!" he bellowed before firing another round into the brainpan of another alien.

"They better be happy for what they got. Cause the cost was too high." The explosives expert said as she dialed in the frequency to Ajax.

Ten hours have passed since the firefight in the ruins. Death wasn't uncommon in the military, but no one really gets use to it, especially when it's your own. Titus sat in the office getting debriefed by the base commander. "What you and your men saw and done today, is to be classified at the highest level. Understood?" He asked only to get a distant look from Titus. With a sigh he spoke again, his tone now gentle and understanding. "Son, losing people under your own command is never easy. But rest assured, their lives weren't wasted." He added.

Titus only replied with a nod as he contemplated what he was just heard. "And what of their families sir?" He finally spoke getting a surprised looked from the commander.

"They will be told they died in an accident during a scouting mission." The commander replied guiltily.

"Permission to speak freely sir?" Titus asked through gritted teeth, a look of rage, clear in his eyes. His fist clenching and unclenching at the sheer thought of what he had just heard.

"Granted..." The commander replied before seeing Titus' fist connect with his jaw with a sickening crack. "Why you-" he began but was quickly silenced when he was grabbed by the back of the head and had his face smashed into the desk repeatedly. After the tenth time his face connected to his desk, there was a loud BANG! from a CZ-24 pistol.

Celestians. That's what we called them. For 152 years, humanity has been at war with the alien race. But it's thanks to them, that I was born. That the first of my species came into existence when the humans discovered them on Mars. But I'm getting ahead of myself, my name is Vega Nocturn. I'm a mistborn, and True Hybrida, and if you are reading this, it either means I have succeed or I am very dead. I'm getting ahead of myself, again. Let's start by getting you up to speed on what happened.

In the early years, when man was still bound to earth, the population boomed. Soon after it became too crowded to support human life. In the year 2050, Humanity began their efforts to colonize other worlds. The most suitable was our Earth's red cousin, Mars. By 2116, Humanity had successfully terraformed Mars to support life without Exosuits, and have warmed the climate to the point where crops could be grown in the fertile soil.

By 2150, New Alexandria was established as the Martian Capital.
By 2187, Martian Ranger Corps from the Ajax Military complex, discover Ancient alien ruins near New Alexandria. Inside they found a stasis chamber with alien life in delta sleep. The life forms were awoken from stasis and turn hostile towards the Rangers. Half the squad became KIA, and the Aliens were destroyed. Captain Titus, who was leading the squad, was killed by friendlies ten hours later. Research teams recover Alien tech and bodies, along with the alien database. Scientists discover origin of alien race and species known as Celestian.

In 2215, FTL travel has been discovered and has allowed travel through space faster and more efficient thanks to reversed engineered Celestian tech.

By 2238, The moon Titan had been colonized and terraformed.

2257, the Humans created the first successful Celestian/Human hybrid. The first of my people. Being so original, they decided to call us Hybrida. Five Years later, the Celestians attack and invade Titan. Humanity began producing more Hybrida to do their dirty work and take back the moon.

In 2280, the humans made contact with a neighboring system inhabited by a race called the Shiv. After negotiations and peace talks, trade was opened between the two peoples.

In 2292, Titan is Liberated and, my people are recognized and respected as their own race. They are seen as heroes. For a while that is. We were still and are feared by humanity, due to our resemblance to the Celestians.

One year later, I was born in New Alexandria. I lived a happy childhood, till I was five. That's when my life truly began.

Unknown time and Space

Celestia sat upon her balcony as her horn glowed gold as she focused her magic to touch the sun and moon. Even for almost a millenia, the moon still resisted her as she pulled the two celestial bodies across the sky turning it from day to night. Upon seeing the moon, she could feel tears well up as the painful memory of her sisters corruption before banishing her to the very moon she now stared at. I'm so sorry Luna, but you left me no choice. the alabaster mare thought as she let her tears spill forth under the glow of her sister's moon.
