Where to begin.....
The disease... it was sudden. An un-explainable phenomena. It was like a plague, sweeping the nation. Killing thousands... it was an airborn killer, with no cure. Ponies were scared. Dying. Some were immune to it for the most part, but it still effected their mind. The sickness was worse than any ever seen before, causing different mental malfunctions for different ponies. If they already had something wrong with them, it got way worse. And if not... they were completely removed from reality. They would burst out laughing for little to no reason, then stop as suddenly as they had started, and begin crying. Some just stared at their hooves. Others committed suicide. The worst part was that no form of magic could fix this... not even Discord could stop it. Once Luna got this... this, plague, her MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) got tot he point that she would have yelling matches with herself, and hallucinate. Mild schizophrenia developed, and then progressed, until Celestia had to put her down.... Luna had physically attacked a group of pidestrians mourning their losses.... Celestia herself was in quite the perplexing place herself. Her kingdom was dying..... her sister was dead. no hope was in sight.
She sat in her study, on the verge of tears, signing a document that would lease out a large portion of Canterlot for a large laboratory. Perhaps if the cure could be found.... perhaps it could be found before it was too late. She stood on her balcony, a single drop of salty water flowering out of her tear ducts, sliding down her cheek, and falling. Falling. Hitting the ground with a silent splash, as she sent the document to the medical ward using her magic.
Days later, hundreds of thousands were dead. The Princess of The Sun was in the laboratory for her own protection, as Equu's top scientists and medical professionals worked day and night for a cure. She was scared. Trembling. She remembered the last conversation she'd had with her sister...
"Luna..." She had said, approaching her beloved sister slowly, a sad, mournful expression on her face. One that had been there since this had began. "Come here... Please, we have to talk."
"Oh.. we've been talking..." Luna replied, her mane no longer flowing, but down straight, covering her face and most of the front of her body. "We've been talking about you.... you did this to us.... we can never forgive you...."
"L-Luna...?!" Celestia had retorted, surprised, and obviously hurt by the statement. "Luna, calm down... I don't know what you're talking abou...."
at that moment, Luna cut her sister off, jumping at her and tackling her to the ground, growling at her like a hound, and opening her maw wide, before biting into Celestia's long, smooth neck.
Celestia had screamed, and flung Luna across the room, smashing her into the wall. Luna whimpered, and tried to get up futilely. Her leg was broken. Her mind... was broken.
"WE'LL KILL YOU ALL!" She screamed, struggling to crawl towards Celestia in a fit of rage. Celestia had no choice... Tears streaming down her cheek.
She whispered "I'm sorry...." before using her magic to break Luna's spine. The Princess of The Moon Howled in pain, before slumping to the ground, fidgeting slightly. Celestia leaned down, and kissed Her sister on the cheek, before putting her hoof on Luna's neck "...for everything..."
She had crushed Luna's larynx. Killing her via something similar to drowning on dry land. Luna wasn't able to breath, gasping desperately for breath....
But that was then. This was now. She knew she was infected. Everyone did.... she just... she didn't want to believe it. A doctor came into her quarters, and nodded awkwardly, nervous.
"Ma'am.... a cure has been found, but.... it's dangerous... unstable...." At the sound of these words, Celestia looked up, her ears perking. Her depression turned to anxiety. "What do you mean... unstable...?"
"It's pure nucle-" He is cut off by a blaring siren. The lights in the building flash red, and the doors lock down.
A voice over the intercom yells "The core has been breached! Somepony stop him, he's going to kill us all!"
Then. All was white. There was a ringing in Celestia's ears, as the white began to fade to black. She was... dying. Her soul was fleeting... she would have spent her last moments being told that there may be a chance to save what was left of pony kind, then having that be dashed to the ground.... no. No, this couldn't be. She had to live. It was her duty.... yes..... she was Princess damnit, she had to protect her people.....
The ashes of Canterlot sifted. The explosion had blown over most of Equestria..... if anyone had survived, they'd have radiation to deal with.... if it didn't kill them, it would break their sanity. Some of the ashes seemed to be shifting... more, than others. They were forming a skeletal figure, whitewashed of meat, not a speck of flesh on it. The bones clacked together,as they formed into a body, surrounded by a fluorescent black light. The eyeholes of the skull emanated the dark glow, as the jaw clacked into place, creating a grin. There appeared to be specks of white light int he middle of the dark abbyses, serving as pupils. The skeleton stood, refusing to die. Being held together by pure magic.
"I.... will not.... give.. my kingdom... to this..."
