Chapter 1: Striker's First Job

Chapter 1

It's only been a week and Striker already loved Ponyvile. Ever since he moved he had shown his talent to a lot of other ponies. In fact, he was hoping he could go on stage and performs.

After waking up in the comfortable bed Rarity let him stay in, he could not get up. Last night he had gone to Berry Punches with his new friends he made. He ended up getting tipsy after all the drinks he consumed. "What a night", he mumbled to himself, wishing it would happen again. He sat up and saw the clock on the nearby nightstand. It read "7:34", which was pretty early at this time. “Well, I guess I could sleep a little more."

Just as he said that, he smelled a delicious aroma that filled the entire room. Looks like Rarity woke up early too. He could smell eggs, bagels, and tea. His mouth watered, "Well, looks like sleepy time will have to wait!" said Striker as he slid out of the bed.

He walked downstairs to see that Rarity was cooking up the finest breakfast he ever seen. Rarity noticed he was up, "Why good morning, darling! I hope you like eggs; it’s my favorite for breakfast." "Good morning to you too Rarity, and yes I do love eggs, thank you." Striker replied.

After a few bites, Striker decided to start a conversation. "Some night huh?"

"Yes, it was some night, we all got pretty tipsy didn't we" Rarity replied

"How many drinks did we have, I lost count."

"Oh, I think about a hundred or so. You can never really keep track of drinks when you are intoxicated"

"Oh yeah, ha. So what have you got planned for today?"

"Well I have to go drop off some of my finished dresses to the post office, Flour de lis ordered had some divine tastes in a dress for a party she was going to."

"Sounds pretty bad, I mean those post office lines take up your whole day."

"Oh, you have no idea"

They both chuckled "Well I'm getting a job over at Vinyl Scratch's Station, she said I have that "Radio Voice"

"Well its true darling, you voice is simply perfect for a radio. Oh, I wonder if they'll make you a talk show host!"

"Hmm, that does seem exiting. I wonder what I would talk about..."

"Well, you could always talk about dating"

"Oh god no, I never dated anyone so I don't know how I could give advice"

"Really, you never dated anyone?"

"Not really, I guess I wasn't as attractive as all the other stallions." Striker slumped at this.

Rarity was shocked at this, “Nonsense, darling, you could catch any pony’s eye. Just look at you, you are remarkably handsome."

Striker blushed. "Oh, you're just saying that."

"I swear I'm not, In fact, you caught my eye when I first met you."

Striker blushed even harder, "I... Uh..."

Rarity giggled, "Am I making you uncomfortable?"

"Uh... no...I was just uh..."

"Don’t bother, I have that effect on many stallions" She chuckled

Striker suddenly came back to real life. "Well, I better be heading over to Vinyl's, I do start at nine" They both turned their heads to see that it was 8:30. "Guess I'll see you around, Miss Rarity?"

"Oh, you will, if the post office doesn't take too long, goodbye now." Rarity replied

Striker then walks out of the boutique with his saddle bag and his favorite hat, leaving Rarity to her work. About a minute later, there was a knock on the door. "Hello, welcome to the Carousel Boutique, darling, how may I help- Oh, why good morning mayor!" said Rarity

"Hello miss Rarity, I take it Striker is not here today?"

"Why yes, how did you know?"

"Well, Ponyville’s dj let me know that he needed him today, I was hoping I could catch him before he left."

"Well, he just left a few minutes; I presume that he would still be around"

"Oh that’s alright; I also needed a favor from you Rarity."

"Oh, ok what is it?"

"Well, more of two things. For one can you give this to Striker when he gets back?" Mayor Mare handed Rarity a letter that was meant for Striker. "Another thing is that is you could make some curtains with his name on it, it would, make it more exciting."

"Why, yes of course, but may I ask why?"

"Oh, I thought you already knew, I'm Inviting Striker to an event we are having, and that letter is asking if he could perform there which I am sure he would be happy to."

"Really now, Well that’s fantastic! Oh I'll get on the curtains right-" Suddenly she forgot about the dresses.
"Oh no, I forgot!"

"Forgot what, Rarity"

"My dresses! I have to get them to the post office and -"

Mayor mare raised a hoof up "No need rarity, I'll send someone down to do that for you, the event is in about 4 days from now."

"Really, why thank you mayor!"

"Not a problem, just write the address on a piece of paper and I'll get someone right on it" She started to walk out the door "Do you need anything else before I go?"

"Hmm, nothing really of the sort, but thank you anyway, darling"

"Ok then, goodbye now."

Striker was about halfway to vinyl's place when he caught someone glace at him from a far. He couldn't really tell who it was, but he did identify it as a mare. He shrugged it off and kept going. I wonder what that pony was looking at...

Once he got to Vinyl's place, she was already waiting at the door for him. "Right on time I see, did you have this all planed or something", said Vinyl

"No not really, it just be good timing"

"Ok then, anyway, I have you on air in about 10 minutes, all you will do is read what is on the paper and I'll play the song." Vinyl then handed Striker a paper with a bunch of lines on it between songs"

"Seems easy, you don’t mind if I introduce myself do you? I was kind of good at that when I worked at my old station"

"Oh yeah totally forgot to put that in, sorry, but sure go right ahead!"

After a few minutes, Striker was on air, he was little nervous, but that wasn't enough to get him to stutter thankfully. "Good morning Ponyvile, My name is StrikerFX and I will be your host till evening, So, a little heads up, an event will be held at Sweet Apple Acers by Mayor Mare herself on the 23rd of January @ 4:30pm.. The event is about Ponyvile’s 70th anniversary! Wow Ponyvile is getting old, but you know what they say, the gleam in your eyes is from the son hitting your bifocals!" Vinyl laughed on the other microphone "Ok so be sure to tune for more updates on that. Ok the weather, clear sky’s today, no rain, but at night they are going to lay out a few clouds to let a light rain for tonight. You know, I was talking to this man once when I moved here. He asked "So tell me, what you think about this part of the country?" I just replied with "Lots of little drops of water falling all over." Vinyl laughed some more.
"Well that’s enough funny for me, but for now here is Iyaz with Pretty girls" Vinyl then starts the song on the paper.

"Wow you did great, even made me laugh! Great way to start a morning." said Vinyl

Striker blushed "Thanks, It was short, but I think it still was ok."

"I wish I had that sense of humor when doing these, it gets pretty boring when you are just mentioning the songs."

"Oh I just look up stuff in books sometimes just for fun, you never know when they would be useful at times, If you know what I mean." They both laughed and continued their work.

After a full day of commentating and saying names to songs, it was time to go home. "Alight, see yeah Vinyl, have fun with Neon." said Striker, teasing.

Vinyl blushed, "Oh I will." She said joking.

Striker made it to the boutique just in time to see Rarity making super for the two. "Hey Rarity, I see you made it home from the post office." said Striker.

"Actually, I never really went to the post office, the mayor came over just after you left. She wanted to give you this." She handed Striker the letter that Mayor Mare gave her. Striker then opened the letter with his mouth and began to read it. "What does it say darling?" Rarity began. "They want me to perform." Striker Replied, not impressed. Rarity looked at him, a little disappointed. "You don't look so happy about that darling, is something wrong?"

"I haven't performed in months after *gulp* what happened."

Rarity was afraid to hear this. "Tell me what happened darling."

"Well" They both sat down. “It was a concert I was supposed to perform for, and I was ready for it. I was going to be a substitute for a band that was lacking a drum kit; they wanted me to do a solo that was pretty hard to do." Rarity was afraid about what he was about to say next. Did he mess up? "What happened next really made me embarrassed; It turns out that band hated me for being so popular that they wanted to set me up for a prank. They put poison in my food."

"Oh my goodness, darling! What happened then?"

"I… I…” He was going to regret saying this.” I hurled on stage. I never felt so embarrassed in my life; it went all over the news "the beatboxer who hurls on stage"

"Well that was because they were jealous of you. You can’t let jealousy of other people ruin your life. Don’t you give up, darling!"

"I guess you are right, it might just be time for me to get back out there."

"I'm sure it won't happen again, people will love you I promise. Speaking of love, any ponies catch your eye?"

"Well, there was this one mare, I couldn't tell from a distance that it was, but she smiled at me and quickly turned away."

"See I told you that you catch ponies’ eyes."

"He he, yeah I guess you are right. By the way did you hear me on the radio today?"

"Oh I did! My radio was on the whole time, those jokes were really funny."

"Well, they are helpful in mornings"

They both chuckled while eating their dinner. After that, it was time for bed, they both were really tired. Rarity was now halfway done with the curtains, and Striker was tired from talking on the radio all day. But it still was a good day, getting his first job, going back to performing, seeing a girl glance at him, and having Rarity cheer him up after his memories kicked in.

Well, this is the first chapter. Hopefully I got all the grammar errors. I was told by my friend that it was good, but I would love some critic on this, It would help me a lot.
