In the future, life isn't as utopian as so many people had imagined it to be. While technology has made leaps and bounds to allow people to expand to even the most distant planets, the law is having difficulty keeping up with it. Even planets relatively close to the home world of Equis are fraught with pirates, gangs, and outlaws. The only way to make a decent living in this new era is one of two professions: mercenaries or piracy.

Vinyl Scratch and crew chose the fun option.

Some of the most wanted people throughout the Final Frontier, Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, Lyra, Bon Bon, and a (stolen) prototype A.I. by the name of "The Doctor" prowl the Frontier in search of treasure, adventure, and infamy. And a fair amount of trouble. Where the Dis flies, civilians and marines shiver alike.

But after a particularly bad encounter with the law, the Dis is badly damaged and the infamous crew is forced to make an impromptu landing on an unexplored planet, which is a nice way of saying, "they get shot down." Now weeks away from any 'civilization' and hunted by those who look to tame the wild Frontier, the crew of the Dis will stumble upon the ultimate secret the Final Frontier has to offer…

And a treasure beyond their wildest dreams.
