He'd been waiting for this opportunity for two years now, and waiting wasn't helping. "Ugh, when are we gonna get in there, next century!?! " Shaun cursed under his breath in impatience. "You have to wait just like everyone else. We only barely made it past our entrance exams, you know that, right?" Shaun's Drift partner, Nathaniel Lackey snapped at him. Shaun acted as if he never heard him, but just to make sure, Nate elbowed his arm in which Shaun gave his partner a cross look for a few seconds. He then returned his eyes to his Iphone. Nathaniel Mattias Lackey was born February 14, 1995 in Coldwood, Michigan from his father Bill Matthew Thomas and mother Wendy Haley Carlson. Bill was a mechanic in Coldwood, a small town near the U.P. The town's population, 1,120 people. Bill was born in San Antonio and moved to Coldwood because he was "sick of the damned traffic" on the way to his former job as a mechanic for MIDAS. Wendy was a former drill sergeant in the Army. The two of them met when Wendy was off-duty and wanted to have her 1970 Ford pickup tuned up. She went to the MIDAS where Bill worked and immediately felt something whenever she was around him. Bill felt the same way. After about seven months of seeing each other, Bill proposed they be engaged inside Wendy's pickup and after one year together, Bill proposed marriage. They married on September 22, 1989. When Nathaniel was 7 years old, he wanted to be a U.S. Army Ranger, fight for his country. His bulky, yet agile physique helped him going through basic training. He was one of the last groups of U.S. personnel to see the mangled body of the first Kaiju, Trespasser after the President authorized the use of three nuclear missiles to kill it. He and his platoon were assigned to help with the cleanup effort, as well as look for survivors in the cities that Trespasser left destroyed, which there were very few. After the Cabo attack, he was honorably discharged and was drafted into a special program, the Jaeger program. Up until now, he lived alone in a two-floor brown house with a black roof in Port Washington, WI, having a job as a mechanic like his father in an old garage. Shaun's story is a tragic one. Shaun Liam Harper was born April 25, 1998 in Fredonia, Wisconsin from Lincoln John Hamilton and Summer Ileana Tyson. Both Lincoln and Summer were Jaeger pilots, that's how they met. Lincoln was the pilot of the Mk II Jaeger Lucky Seven alongside his co-pilot Dominic Cruz. Lucky Seven was like built like Brawler Yukon, but instead of being painted blue, it was a seafoam green, with the symbol of the Boston Celtics on the left arm and the number seven on the right arm. Summer was the pilot of a Mk I Jaeger named Kaiju Ass-munch alongside co-pilot Horatio De Santa. Kaiju Ass-munch was built like Coyote Tango, but instead of brown, she decided to make the Jaeger pink. She thought that brown made the Jaeger look like a "walking, talking, ass-kicking piece of shit." Horatio came up with the nickname, Azzy, so that other pilots didn't take offense. The two giant, howitzer-sized cannons on "Azzy's" back had their nicknames as well, Lucy and Geraldo. They first met in the L.A. Shatterdome when it was still under construction. They were just mingling when a call came out that a Category II was approaching the city. They got into their respective Jaegers and met the Kaiju and killed it. After the battle, the two realized that something had blossomed when the two pilots were in battle, love. After a year being engaged since that fateful day, Lincoln asked for Summer's hand in marriage. After Shaun was born, A call came out for a Category IV was on approach to Shanghai. The two pilots went to stop the Kaiju before it laid waste to the city, but they never came back. Shaun got the news and cried for days on end. He was only 6 years old. He dealt with the pain by being like his mother, childish and not taking anything seriously. Pilots are always reminded of them because of the two sets of footprints leading to the Pacific and stopping at the very edge. Since their entrance on the Kaiju-killing stage, everyone called them "The Dynamic Duo" because they were just that, dynamic. The two of them met at a bar in Milwaukee just after the Mutavore attack on Sydney and almost beat the shit out of each other because Shaun that Nate had called him "Shaun White". Which he was none too happy about. Nate was just like Shaun, except he had WAY more sense than his partner, but sometimes joined in on his games. Nate actually had some combat experience. They learned to deal with each other, put aside their differences and work together. "Harper and Lackey!" The desklady said with a demanding voice that would make Annie Potts jolt. The two pilots-in-training walked up to the desk, signed some papers and walked down a white hallway with a door at the end. "Ooh, scary hallway!" Shaun exclaimed sarcastically, wiggling his fingers in front of him and chuckling afterwards. "It's go time!" Nate said with excitement The two walked down the hall to the Combat Simulator Room and entered. The room was modeled after the Conn-Pod of a Mk III Jaeger; complete with suits and a Virtual Reality Training system. "Man, I don't quite understand why these training suits are WHITE, when they could be the awesome BLACK it is today." Shaun quipped as he suited up. "I think it's just for nostalgia. Remember the old days, when the suits looked clunky and shit?" Nate put on his helmet. "Dude, that's why we lost people, because the suits were too clunky and the pilots couldn't fight. Thank God for these babies." Shaun said with a sigh of relief, gesturing to his suit as he put on his helmet and signaled the instructor they were ready for fighting. Not knowing that Shaun had a secret that he had been hiding for years. Ponyville, Equestria Golden Oaks Library, Time since last Kaiju incursion, 2w:5d:17h:32min:43sec Time: 0935 Princess Twilight Sparkle was reading the book Species and Civilizations known to Equestria by Starswirl the Bearded in her bedroom when Rainbow Dash banged on the door. "TWILIGHT! HURRY, IT'S ME! RAINBOW!" Rainbow screamed as if her world was crumbling around her. Twilight teleported downstairs and ran to the door. She opened it, only to see the biggest thing she ever saw... To be continued... ...that was easy.Twilight looked up to see a sight that nopony had ever seen before. It had a hammer-like head with three, long, spiked tails and emitted a bioluminescent light green hue. The monster's arms were fused, ending in three-digit claws. The monster let out an ear-splitting roar, shattering windows, bending trees and cracking rocks in every direction. It's sheer size rivaled that of a record Ursa Major, bigger even. Twilight and Rainbow watched in horror as the beast was heading in the direction of Ponyville. The two friends shuddered as the monster thundered across the landscape. "What is that thing!?!" Rainbow asked her friend, hoping for an answer. "I don't know Rainbow. I need to warn Celestia about this!" Twilight ran back into the library and quickly wrote a note to her mentor demanding that she get Ponyville immediately, hoping that she and her friends weren't flattened corpses by the time she got there. ...meanwhile... Shaun and Nate were getting a by-the-book tutorial by the instructor who was teaching them through headsets in their helmets. "So, which Kaiju's ass are we gonna kick today? Virtually of course." Shaun said mashing one fist into his palm. "You will be facing the Kaiju known as..." The instructor looked on his list to see Harper and Lackeys' names and next to their names was the the Kaiju they'd be fighting, virtually. "Which one is it, pal?" Nate quipped impatiently. "...Leatherback! Hahaha... have fun you two!" The line cut off as the simulation started. The simulation initialized in the city of Shanghai with lots and lots of buildings. Perfect cover for you to launch a sneak attack on a Kaiju or the other way around. To make the simulation even more difficult, it was nighttime, and raining, so your visibility is slim to none. "Great, we're facing off against a oversized gorilla with an attitude. Yay!" Shaun said emphatically, flailing his arms for second before getting to his senses. "Focus Shaun! This Kaiju's a real nasty motherfucker from what I've heard from other pilots. So be careful." Nate said with a serious tone. "Come on, we've dropped 30 times and killed 30 Kaiju's. This guy's mincemeat for us!" Shaun and Nate stretched out their arms in preparation for the upcoming battle. Their simulated Jaeger was modeled after Striker Eureka, which was not their usual style but they could work it out. The Jaeger walked forth into the bay surrounding the city. A low rumbling sound made it's way into the pilots ears. They turned the Jaeger's massive head a might to late as the giant exploded out of the water and tackled the lumbering fighter into the water, hammering away. The two regained their composure and elbowed the oversized gorilla in the stomach again and again, forcing the behemoth to back off. The pilots stood on their feet and got into a fighting stance. Leatherback charged with fury, forcing the pilots to dodge it's attack and think think of a plan to kill the beast. The duo then piggyback-style grabbed Leatherback's special gland that triggers it's signature EMP blast, pulling violently until it finally gave and came off the back of the monster, throwing it into the ocean. Shrilling in pain, Leatherback turned it's head and grabbed the Jaeger, pulling it into a bear hug, spun around and threw the Jaeger like a ragdoll into the Shanghai docks. "WHEEEEEEEEEE!" Shaun yells with glee. "OH SHIIIIIIIIIT!" Nate hollers as the Jaeger twists and turns until landing on the docks with a sharp CLANG skidding for some seconds then stops. "Come on! Let's show King Kong here how to fight!" Ugh, seriously? "Oh, come on! That's gold right there! And even YOU have to admit the guy looks like King Kong on steroids." Nate exclaims to the narrator "Just uglier!" (sighs) Fine, just kill the damn thing would ya? "Sure." "MAKE IT SO, NUMBER ONE!" Leatherback slowly makes it's way to the shipyards, crushing anything that happens to be in it's way. Suddenly it charges at the duo, responding with charging as well. "Activating jets!" Nate pushes a button, jumping high into the air, with the jets sustaining lift then finally coming back down to Earth, landing their metal fist into the Kaijus skull with a sharp THUMP. Attempting to regain it's composure, Leatherback staggers back a bit. Wasting no time, the two give Leatherback a beating of its own, mercilessly giving it various jabs and hooks to the head and upper torso, backing it up against a building. "YEAH, GOING MIKE TYSON ON YO SORRY, MONKEY ASS!" Are you fucking kidding me? You can't be serious, can you? Leatherback is based off a GORILLA! A GORILLA! Get your facts right. "What, you a Muhammad Ali fan or something?" "Man you are such a nitpicker, come on!" "Give him a break, this is his story by the way, you know that right?" (groans) I know, I know. "May we continue, Sir Nitpick?" Don't push it with me, pal. "Shaun, give it a rest. You can break the fourth wall later, 'kay?" "Okay then." Oh God, please kill me now! "Ahem!" Oh right, onward! Leatherback somehow regains composure and roars into the pilots face, nearly blowing their eardrums. "SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!" Shaun yells as he and his co-pilot punch the Kaiju right on the button. "Say it, don't spray it, Bundy!" Oh, for crying out loud! Again, the Kaiju bellows as saliva sprays onto the Jaegers' metal hull. "SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU CUNT!" Again, Shaun and Nate uppercut it in the face, sending it tumbling backwards, but not before the Kaiju gives the two a slobberknocker to the face, making the duo stumble back a bit. The Kaiju now lied motionless at their feet. "I think we're done here." Nate states flatly as a bolt of lightning crashes above them as the two turn around and walk away. "What do think you're doing!?! That thing isn't dead yet! Kill it!" The instructor screams into the headset of the two pilots. "What? I was sure that last hit got him!" Shaun complains. "Well, what are we waiting for? LET'S FINISH HIM!" The two turn around, expecting the Kaiju to be lying flat on it's back, right where they wanted it, only to see a patch of broken road and a set of footprints leading away from the scene. "What the- hey, where'd he go!?" Shaun questioned his co-pilot. "I told you, man. This guy is dangerous! Keep your eyes peeled!" "You better not make this like 'the monster comes out of a frickin building' and totally mauls us! This is NOT the '98 version of Godzilla!" Shaun hollers at the narrator. Leave the storytelling to me, okay? "Fine, but I swear, if you do that, I will NOT be happy!" Okay, then. The two walked down a city block following footprints, looking for a giant, oversized, scaly gorilla. they follow the trail until it stops next to two adjacent buildings. "Oh great, this chumps got invisibility powers now!?!" "Look around, the guy's gotta be here somewhere!" They look around for only a short time, and find what they were looking for, but were in a bad position to do anything about it. Leatherback was now on top of a skyscraper, looking down on the duo. Leatherback jumps, hoping it would land on the Jaeger, squashing it under it's weight. Luckily the two see him in time and just as the monster is about to reach the duo, they grab it in midair, use the momentum from the fall against it and slam it to the ground. "Did you see that!?! He was trying to do a cross-body on us. FAIL!" Shaun yells. Groaning in pain, the Kaiju looks to see the Jaeger standing tall over itself. "This time we're gonna make that you STAY dead!" Nate pushes a button activating two swords out of each arm. "Any last words, beastie?" Shaun asks not talking to anyone in particular, putting the two, massive blades at Leatherback's throat. Silence. In one swift stroke, Leatherback's head comes clean off and rolls away. "FATALITY!" Shaun yells as the simulation deactivates. "31st drop, 31st kill." Nate says. The instructor says "Impressive, very impressive." Suddenly a message comes onto the P.A. "MESSAGE FROM COMMANDER PENTECOST, PRIORITY ALPHA! PILOTS SHAUN HARPER AND NATHANIEL LACKEY REPORT THE THE HANGAR BAY IMMEDIATELY. YOU HAVE BEEN REASSIGNED!" "We haven't even gotten past training!" "Anyways, what does Pentecost want?" "You've been reassigned, that's all you should know by now. Get to the hangar bay now before I boot both of you there, NOW!" A gruff voice boomed into their headsets. "Well... that was easy." Shaun quips. Until then, seeya next time folks! Another Breach...yay...meanwhile... The town was in chaos, ponies everywhere were running for their lives as the beast thundered its way into town. The Wonderbolts were trying to pester the beast, luring it out of the town, Rainbow Dash and more pegasi helping the cause when suddenly a bright gold and blue aura covered the landscape, with a booming voice that sounded like a certain princess. "I AM PRINCESS CELESTIA SOLARIS! RULER OF EQUESTRIA! WHY HAVE YOU ATTACKED MY PEOPLE!?!" Princess Celestia and Luna appeared and used a voice that hadn't been used by Celestia in centuries, the Royal Canterlot Voice. It was clear that the sun goddess wasn't happy at all, the sun on her flank was emblazoned in golden flame, her eyes were pure white, seeping with fury, her mane was ablaze, mixing of pink, cobalt and baby blue. She had even her own golden armor. With Luna at her side, the sisters were ready to fight if it was deemed necessary. "HOW DARE THY ATTACK OUR PEOPLE WITH PROVOCATION! WHAT BRINGS THOU HERE, BEAST!?!" The lunar princess boomed in the Royal Canterlot Voice, sending the monster a message, they were small, compared to it, but they had big mouths. Seconds passed before the monster let out a hellacious roar, sending everpony flying in all directions, even the Royal Sisters. Regaining her composure and enough fury to make a black spot on the planet visible from space, Celestia unfurls her massive swan-like wings and flies mid-level to the monster. "YOU HAVE ANGERED ME FOR THE LAST TIME!" Celestia's horn glows golden and points it directly at the monster "NOW FACE MY WRATH!" A golden bolt lunges from her horn and makes contact with the monster's chest, sending it flying towards the Everfree forest. Celestia panted, unleashing all of her rage in that one moment took a lot of strength from her, nearly passing out. "Tia, are you okay, sister?" Luna asked her now back-to-normal state sister. "I'm-I'm fine, Luna. But I have a feeling this is only going to continue. And we won't be able to stop it." Celestia said with worry. "I have a feeling that beast will be back, soon." "I hope not, we'll need help, but from whom?" "I have an idea or two." Luna said with a smile. Shanghai Shatterdome, 1572 CST, Landing platform Time since last Kaiju incursion: 4w:6d:8h:34min:50sec The chopper landed on the platform with a THUNK, waking Nate from his 7 hour nap, but his comrade was still asleep. On the platform were a man and a woman, both with trenchcoats and umbrellas over their heads to shield them from the heavy rainfall. "Shaun, wake up, we're here." Snoring was all Nate got. "SHAUN, WAKE UP!" "AH, the doc's a spy-uhhh." Shaun woke from his slumber to see two people waiting for him and Nate on the platform. They walk off the chopper and up to the two persons. "How was you're flight?" The man on the right asked. he had a badge on his chest saying Pentecost. Nate's jaw dropped. "Stacker Pentecost!?! It's an honor to meet you, sir!" Nate shook his hand but Pentecost kept a stoic gaze. "Who's this guy?" "This is Stacker Pentecost, head of the Jaeger program and living legend." Nate stated as he gestured to him "Meh, looks like Samuel Jackson to me." Oh God. "This way." Pentecost gestured the duo to follow him and the woman to a large elevator, but not before Nate elbows Shaun in the chest. The two make their way into the elevator when Pentecost briefs them on what they've been assigned to. "We've detected another Breach. You two are going to check it out, see what's there then haul ass back to base, understood?" "Yes sir!" Nate salutes. "Another Breach, just what we need... yay." Shaun says flatly. The four get out of the elevator into the Jaeger bays. "How come there's only five here? Shouldn't there be more, sir?" Nate asks as he and his partner gaze upon the metal behemoths. "We are no longer an army, Mr. Lackey. We're the resistance now." Nate's eyes widened in shock at what the Marshall said. The four come across a giant, red Jaeger with three arms. "This is Crimson Typhoon. Chinese made it, one of the best. Piloted by the Wei Tang brothers, triplets." "I honestly don't see how THREE people can pilot a Jaeger meant for TWO, but that's just me." Shaun states. Shaun and Nate looked at each other for a moment before stumbling upon Crimson's pilots playing a game of basketball. "Some people have WAY too much time on their hands." Shaun quips. The three brothers stop playing their game and looked at the two with a mix of confusion and disdain. "Hey, how ya doin? We're the new boys here." Shaun says as he waves to the three. "Nín hǎo, wǒmen shì xīn lái de." Nate says. The three bow their heads, Nate and Shaun do the same. The three go back to their game. The two pilots walk more before Shaun accidentally runs into two Russian pilots, a man and woman. "Ey, smotri, kuda vy idete!" The woman says with disdain. "Sorry, my bad. Wow, nice suits!" Shaun tries to check out the Russian's attire but is grabbed by the man standing next to her. "Nazhmite yeye snova, ya budu khvatat' ruku ot." The man says, grabbing Shaun's arm, putting it in vise-like grip. "OH, YOU'VE GOT A FRICKIN' KUNG-FU GRIP! NATE, A LITTLE HELP?!" Shaun yells in pain to his partner, who soon arrives. "Nazhmite yego snova, i ya sdelayu , chto vy nikogda ne khodit' tak zhe, opyat' zhe... tovarishch." Nate growls at the Russian. Slowly the man let's go of Shaun's arm, now throbbing in pain. The man and Nate stare each other in the eyes, waiting for one of them to back down. "Aleksis, khvatit!" Pentecost yells as Alexis and his twin walk out of sight. "I will never mess with another Russian again!" Shaun exclaims. The guys and girl continue along until they run across a massive grey Jaeger with a funny looking head. "This one's Striker Eureka, first and last of the Mk V's. Strongest model ever. If it wasn't for this Jaeger, Sydney would've been flattened." "The Mutavore Incident." Nate states as he looks to the metal monster with curiosity. "Hey, I thought greenhorns weren't allowed here!" A gruff voice hollered. "Oh great, you too?" Shaun complains. "Don't listen to him, he's just being an ass right now. Who are you two?" Another deeper, gruff voice called. "My name's Nate Lackey and this is my partner, Shaun Harper." A man walked up to them and shook their hands. He looked aged. "Excuse Chuck for being an asshole, I raised him by meself. The name's Herc, Herc Hansen." "Woah, you were a Mk I pilot, cool! Are you still piloting?" Shaun exclaimed "Yup, along with my son, Chuck." Herc gestured to a man playing with a bulldog. "Guy's gotta learn to watch what he says around people. I was fixin' to kick his ass back to Sydney." Nate balled his fists. "Yeah, wait in line." Herc said with disdain. The two said their goodbyes, walked even more until they saw a blue Jaeger in the Repairing Bay. "No... it can't be! I thought she was destroyed five years ago!" Shaun looked to see a man with blonde hair approaching. "She was, up until now at least. You must be new here, I'm Raleigh Beckett." Raleigh put his hand out. "OHMYGOSH, Raleigh Beckett! You, my friend are a legend." Shaun immediately shakes his hand. "Pentecost, you picked 'em blind?" Raleigh cocked an eyebrow at the marshall. "They have potential, Mr. Beckett. That's all you need to know." Beckett goes off on his way. The group continued through the bays. One Jaeger stood out from the rest. It was a Mk III, which had a Nuclear Vortex Turbine, a replica of Gipsy Danger, but it was black, with three red stripes going down the head and both sides of the chest. It had two Plasmacaster cannons in its arms, chain-swords and as well as a special version of sting-blades. Instead of two blades that came out the sides, there were three that emerged from the arms themselves. "Like Wolverine's claws?" Yes, like Wolverine's claws. Two giant rear-jets give the Jaeger the power of flight. But there was something different, something more to it. "Wow, which one's ours I wonder?" Nate asks. "The black one, she is called Titan Crusher." The woman finally speaks. "Okay, who is this woman?" Shaun asks. "My name is Mako Mori." "Like a Mako shark?" Shaun cocked an eyebrow in confusion. "Yes and no. Anyway, we need you to get some food and suit up, you're leaving in 30. Dismissed." Pentecost goes on his way with Mako and Shaun and Nate head for the cafeteria. The King and his MenGodzilla, the King of Monsters. He does not think himself a hero, rather a protector. But a king needs his men, willing to fight and die for him. He also needs a queen... Solgell Island a.k.a Monster Island 1127 hrs. Godzilla is asleep, ever since a nasty battle with Destroyah two days earlier. Destroyah was rampaging through Hiroshima when Godzilla got the call to stop him. His usual orange eyes were a sickly purple and green, including his massive horn, destroying everything in its path. While the king slumbers, his best friends, Anguirus, Rodan and Mothra, patrol the island in case there's trouble. Godzilla and Mothra have had a little thing going since after their first battle years ago. Since then, they have arranged secret meetings with each other, discussing whether to reveal their 'relationship' to the others. While Rodan and Mothra patrol the skies, Anguirus patrols the ground. "Ah, don't you just love the air going through your wings, Mothy?" Rodan asked his winged friend. Rodan likes to mess with Mothra, as well as his comrades from time to time, coming up with nicknames, jokes about their looks and attitudes. But when it comes to fighting, Rodan is one of the best. Rodan knows about the relationship between Mothra and Godzilla, he's just waiting for the two to admit it. Anguirus however, hasn't noticed anything between them, yet. "Yes, I do. And don't call me Mothy." Mothra plainly stated. "Okay, fine by me. I just want you to admit it." "Admit what, Rodan?" Mothra asks. "That you and the big guy are in a relationship. You gotta admit it sooner or later." Rodan flies over Mothra. The super-sized moth blushed, thinking about being with him, that big, sexy dragon, with those muscular arms, tree trunk-like legs, that massive tail and those eyes. Those big, orange eyes. When she looked through them, she could see his fiery determined side but also his kinder side, a side that he shows his two friends sometimes, but always shows it to her. When they were together, they were open books. Mothra was too busy thinking about Godzilla that she lost altitude, sending her on a collision course with a mountain, pulling up at the last second. "Earth to Mothra. Come in. Come in." Rodan pecked at Mothra, making her blush even more. "I'm okay, just lost in thought." Mothra answered, still regaining her composure. "Well, there's no action on this part of the island. Let's go check on Angy, make sure he's not 'spiking trouble'." "Oh brother." Mothra says. The two fly to the part of the island where Anguirus was "patrolling". "Ah, another beautiful day on Monster Island!" Anguirus said with ecstasy as he looked for signs of trouble. "I wonder how Godzilla's doing, that fight with Destroyah really took it out of him." Anguirus pondered with worry. "I should probably go check on him, it's almost noon which means, medicine time. I probably should get there before Mother Agira put's anything in Godzilla's mouth." The spiked monster runs off in the direction of "The King's" part of the island, unaware that Godzilla's arch-nemesis, King Ghidorah was in the process of planning a dastardly attack and was hell-bent on overthrowing the king. "This will be the day that Godzilla falls and Ghidorah rises! Hehehe, hahahahahahahaha! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
