A Relationship No Pony Thought Possible
Do I Actually Like Her? Yeah I Do...
You know how frustrating it is when you think you like your best friend but at the same time you don't think you like her which causes massive conflict in your head? Then how there's more because you don't know how she would react if you told her? Yeah. It sucks. I mean, Twilight's an egghead! I'm an athlete and best flyer in Equestria if I may add. It's just something about her... I don't know what it is, but whenever we're alone I get really awkward and it seems like I don't have a brain. I hate it so much. I guess you're getting tired of my ranting and want to get to the story huh? That's fine. I didn't like talking to you either.
"Hey Rainbow Dash! Pick up the pace will ya?!" shouted Cloudkicker. That was enough to snap me out my daze.
"Sorry. I was just thinking," I explained. She flew over and raised an eyebrow.
"Thinking about what? We got clouds to get rid of!" she exclaimed. I nodded and returned to work. I just hoped she wouldn't find out about what I was thinking. I mean, not everypony would react the same to my thoughts. Some may react badly and others encouragingly, but I didn't want to take that chance.
After finishing the job and returning to Cloudsdale for some rest, Cloudkicker flew over again.
"What was on your mind earlier?" she asked. Great, now I'll have to figure out a way to avoid her.
"Uh, it was nothing really," I responded sheepishly.
"Obviously it was something. You zoned out for like, 2 minutes," she told me. I was out for that long? Wow.
"It was nothing. Oh would you look at the time! I have a party to attend at Twilight's house!" I blurted out. Great, now I have to go the one mare's house I didn't want to go to.
"Alright then. Don't drink to many ciders alright?" she laughed out sarcastically. Maybe if Twilight and I drank too much... Damn. There's those thoughts again. I hated my brain.
"Yep! Catch ya later!" I said, flying off. I realized how awkward it was going to be, just showing up at Twilight's and telling her that I wanted to crash there tonight. Wouldn't that just be wonderful? I guess it wouldn't be too awkward since Spike will be there, so that would relieve pressure. Hopefully.
After finally getting to Twilight's house, I noticed the upstairs light on.
"She's probably reading one of her books," I mumbled under my breath. It seems like that all she does! Reads books and then writes things and then reads more books. I had no idea why I liked her. I flew down to the door and knocked.
"Coming!" yelled a voice from inside. I expected to see Spike at the door, but instead there was Twilight. Great.
"H-hey Twilight! Do ya mind if I crash here for tonight? I don't want to be flying around in the dark all the way to Cloudsdale," I explained. Great story Dash. You really nailed it!
"Uh, sure. C'mon in!" she greeted, beckoning me inside. I walked into the library-tree-house and it smelled of old books, as always.
"Where's Spike?" I asked.
"At Rarity's, helping her with a dress. Here, I'll get us some drinks," she offered, heading for the kitchen. Oh God, how was I going to do this? Would I tell her? I didn't know if I actually liked her! But I did, but didn't. This is why I hate thinking. Twilight entered the room and the opening of the door made me yelp. "Something wrong Dash?" she questioned.
"Nope! Nothing at all!" I responded, following it up with an awkward laugh. My gawd, I was losing my mind...
"Well, here's a cider for you. Hope you enjoy!" she said, handing me a cider with her magic. I had to strike up a conversation, but how? I'm not good at small talk at small talk, especially around ponies I wouldn't like to make upset.
"So, uh, how was your day?" Another good one Dash. You're on a hot streak!
"The usual. Studying and writing. How about you?" How was I supposed to answer this? Oh you know, just completely lost track of time during work today because I was day-dreaming about you. Seemed like a logical answer right? Wrong.
"Well, I worked all day and hung out with Cloudkicker. Then I..." Wow, I was just about to say how I lied to Cloudkicker just to come here.
"Then you what?" she pushed. I shook my head and downed the cider.
"Nevermind that! Could I have another drink?" I asked, giving her an innocent smile. She laughed. She had the weirdest laugh, but it was adorable. Shut up.
"Sure! I'll be right back," she assured, drinking the rest of her own glass. Maybe I could keep this up until we're drunk enough to just pass out. That's my new plan.
I kept the charade up until Twilight and I were almost out.
"Ya know, (hiccup), we need to spend more, (hiccup), time together," gurgled out Twilight. She was more drunk than I thought.
"Yeah..." I trailed off, nearly pass the consciousness boundary.
"We should, (hiccup), play a prank!" suggested Twilight, standing up but falling over. I laughed so hard I nearly threw up.
"I think... we're too drunk to do that..." I whispered, trying to stand. I was messed up and Twilight couldn't even get up. "C'mon, I'll help yo-OH!" If you hadn't guessed, I fell... right on top of her.
"Rainbow..." she mumbled. She looked me in the eyes and I did the same. Emotions flowed through my body. This was it. Take the chance now or regret it. I dove in and kissed her. Her eyes widened in shock and made a strange noise, but eased into the kiss. I hope she wasn't enjoying it because she was drunk. Oh that would be bad.
We broke apart and took a huge breath. It seemed Twilight had regained her senses and gasped. "R-Rainbow!" she yelled. Uh oh...
"U-uh, I can explain!" I countered. It was too late, Twilight passed out. That was extremely awkward... but I did the same as well.
"Rainbow! Wake up!" A voice called out. I snapped into a sitting position. My head hurt. A lot.
"Wha-what happened?" I murmured sleepily. Twilight sighed.
"Let me explain it to you. You came here, we got drunk, we kissed. That's what happened!" she explained. KISSED?! That might explain why I feel so good for being drunk.
"K-kissed? Twilight! You have to understand! It was a mista-Hmm?" She silenced me with her hoof.
"It's okay Rainbow Dash. I didn't necessarily... not enjoy it," she whispered, blushing. She liked it?! Aw yeah!
"You did? Well, if you haven't noticed already... I kinda have a crush on you..." I responded, my face reddening.
"I figured that. To be honest, I have a crush on you too," she confessed. My day brightened up to the point that if you looked at it, you'd go blind.
"That's so awesome to hear! Hey, since we confessed our love for each other... does that mean we're... marefriends?" That was an awkward term but it fit the situation.
"Yeah, I guess so!" We hugged and kissed again. Now all that was left was to tell the others...
So there ya have it. My little story of Twilight and I getting together. Wasn't that awkward I guess, but seriously; who saw me and Twilight getting together? Yeah, that's right! No pony!
