Tia Chapter One: Two Hearts Ignite

Soarin was panting as sweat dripped down his body under his exercise uniform. It closely resembled his show uniform, however it was completely black. This was to get wonderbolts use to the resistance of the show uniforms.

Soarin had been working out for several hours now and was strengthening his wings so he could break the sound barrier. "How can that Rainbow mare do it? And so easily too?" he asked himself, using his towel to wipe sweat from his brow. He was about to do another lap on the track when the doors opened and another pony walked in,

The pony was another wonderbolt, and in dress blues "sir, orders from Princess Celestia. You are to train the recently ascended Princess, Twilight Sparkle, on how to fly." Eith another salute, the other wonderbolt turned on heel and walked out of the room.

Sighing Soarin walked to the showers to clean up his body from his work out. As the water ran down his back, he thought out load "well, it's something to do" he said. He hated winter, no shows, nothing but events for those damned Canterlot snobs to cozy up to a "celebrity."

Drying off and making sure his dress uniform was proper, he adorned the garments, then took to the sky and flew towards the castle.

-2 weeks earlier-

-Canterlot castle, Twilights Coronation-

The ceremony went off without a hitch, everything was going perfectly. Celestia was delighted that her student had ascended to power, but more so, that a void that has been in her heart for nearly a thousand years, would once again be filled. "Twilight I cannot begin to explain how proud I am of you" she said giving her student. "But I have another lesson for you, you need to learn how to use your wings, normally this could be taught by miss Rainbow Dash, however, she has weather duties to do." Celesta said with a smile.

"Princess Celestia, can't I just wait until Rainbow Dash is done with weather patrol?" Twilight asked, a visible frown on her face.

"Unfortunately, no, I need you to learn how to fly. And don't worry, I'm going to have you trained by a wonderbolt" Celestia said with a smile. "Now, lets celebrate" she finished with the biggest grin Twilight has ever seen on Celestia's face.

-present-

Soarin landed in front of the place and was immediately let in by the guards. His rank helped things move along quickly. He stepped through the doors and into the main hall of the palace. It always amazed him how beautiful it was. Soarin snapped back to his task at hand and trotted up to the throne where he then saluted "Sergeant Soarin reporting for duty your majesty."

Celestia smiled, "why yes, princess Twilight." She said as the new lavender colored princess snapped out of her book and looked at her.

"Yes princess Celestia?" She asked not having noticed the wonderbolt right away, but once she did. "Oh, flying lesson, right." She said and got down off her own throne. She walked up to the wonderbolt "Soarin is it? Shall we began?" The wonderbolt only nodded, saluted Princess Celestia again and turned on hoof and walked out of the room.

Once outside the palace, Soarin turned to the princess. "Princess Twilight, how much do you know about flying?" Soarin asked, his wings tucked to his body.

"Well, I've read several books on." Twilight started, but Soarin cut her off.

"I mean how much can you fly your majesty" Soarin said and caught an irritated look from Twilight.

"Can you please stop calling me that, I'm still not all that use to it," she said looking down, drawing nothing in the dirt.

"I understand miss Twilight." Soarin answered "anyhow, show me what you know." Twilight nodded and with a few beats of her wings was airborne. "Not bad princ..I mean Twilight." It was then Twilight started to lose control, and having been a unicorn for so long, started to use her magic, however, Soarin was already reacting. As he caught her, a powerful spell was unleashed as was a blinding light. Twilight stood slowly, groggy from the amount of magic used. She noticed that the wonderbolt was gone and a that was left was a creator.

Panicked, Twilight went running to Celestia. "Princess help! I did something terrible." Twilight then explained what happened, fearing she had hurt somepony, her eyes began to tear up.

Celestia looked serious for a moment, then she was smiling ~I'll see you soon, my love.~ Her horn started to glow, summoning a scroll and quill.

-Equestria one thousand years earlier-

With a blinding light, Soarin appeared in a field. His head spinning from being sent back in time. Though he didn't know this, He tried to stand but couldn't, sleep overwhelmed him.

"Ahhhh!" He awoke hours later to a shriek. And saw a rainbow getting shot at the moon. But then noticed something forming in the moon, it was the mare of the moon, but that disappeared when Princess Luna came back . He started to fly towards the shriek, and saw the old castle of the royal pony sisters. But, it wasnt crumbling, and he saw Princess Celestia crying. Being a soldier, his brain kicked into action "Princess Celestia?"

The wonderbolt asked only to be met with the royal Canterlot voice "GO AWAY! GET AWAY FROM ME!" She said angrily. Soarin bowed and started to turn and leave, but as he became airborne, he heard a fair voice and felt magic engulf his tail, stopping him "wait...who are you?" She asked looking at the unknown stallion before her. Soarin had a strange look on his face.

"Sergeant Soarin, you where having me give Princess Twilight Sparkle flying lessons" he said now getting a strange look from the princess.

"Who?" She asked.

Soarin looked her over, she looked different "are you okay princess?"

She nodded and her horn glowed, and the moon went back down, and the sun rose to high noon.

"Princess" the wonderbolt started "what year is it?" Soarin asked, though he feared the answer.

She looked at him as if he was crazy "it has been five years since my.. sister and I defeated Discord of course." It then hit the stallion like a ton of bricks.

"Oh god I'm in the past" he said. Soarin felt light headed at this revelation and passed out. Finding his behavior odd, Celestia decided to scan his memories, and came across a lot. "He is from the future? And he has a crush on me ?" She said, her horn glowing as she picked up the pegasus and levitated him to her bed.

Celestia thought for a moment "perhaps my student can help." She said as she walked out of her room to go talk to her student, Starswerl the Bearded. "Starswerl, my good Mage, I would like you to start research on time spells" and with a nod, he began his work.

After hours of sleep, Soarin awoke to see Celestia standing out on a balcony. Standing Soarin got up and walked over to her, watching her as she was looking at the moon. "A thousand years, I won't get to see her for a thousand years, and I won't be able to hold her close"

Soarin knew he shouldn't, but he put a hoof on the shoulder of the crying princess. He was surprised when Celesta hugged him."thank you Soarin" she felt a strange sensation, his scent, the feel of his touch, it felt good. This pegasus from the future had been nothing but kind to her. His smile was warm and kind.

Soarin's smile soon vanished as a voice yelled "Long Live the Princess of the Night." Soarin acted first, thought second. He shoved Celestia out of way of the assassins attack. Pain, searing pain, feeling the cold steal rip into his back between his wings, he knew that he been stabbed, but if he hadn't pushed the princess out of the way, the blade sticking in his back would have pierced the princess heart. Killing her.

Celestia's eyes widened in horror but then narrowed in seething rage, her horn glowed and the assassin was instantly engulfed in flames and disappeared into a pile of ash.

Celestia turned her attention to the pegasus, who's blood soaked wings where now staining his fur. His breathing was ragged, low and almost non existent. He shuddered as he fought off sleep, sleep was bad. Sleep meant death.

"SOARIN!" Celestia cried out, kneeling beside her savior "please don't die! I can't loose anypony else" Soarin smiled and leaned up, if he was gonna die, he was gonna do this, he was gonna make it worth it, he pressed his muzzle to hers, kissing her. A new feeling shot through Soarin, it felt like, a spark. His heart raced and he slowly opened his eyes to break the kiss, but saw the princess had her eyes close and was still kissing him. He slowly started to black out, then darkness.

-the kiss by Celestia's point of view-

Celestia leaned down next to her savior, she feared he would die, she couldn't lose another pony close to her. "Please don't die! I can't lose anypony else!" She pleaded, but was soon brought into a kiss from the stallion. A...kiss. She never been kissed by anypony, but, there was what felt like a spark. It felt good. She returned the kiss, her heart beating a little harder. But soon, the stallion collapsed to the ground.

-Soarin's Mind-

Death, was this death? It was completely dark, looking around, he saw nothing, he closed his eyes. He wondered how long it would take for him to be embraced by death completely.

There was not a single smell or sound. He couldn't feel the assassins knife in his back anymore, death was his company, of this, he was sure.

*clop*... wait, was that a hoof? He heard another, than another, some pony was walking towards him, but who.

"Thou gave thy own body to protect our sister?" A pony he knew as Princess Luna said. "Do not worry, thou are not going to die." The night princess smiled. Then saw a confused look on the stallions face "even though our own body hath been banished to the moon, we can still see what transpires on this earth, and the dreams of our subjects."

"So, I am dreaming Princess?" Soarin asked looking at her.

Princess Luna smiled as she walked up to the stallion "not really, thou are having a near death experience." The lunar princess smile faded as she looked down somberly "a thousand years from now, when thy are sent back, We wish to meet thee in person, and thank thee for saving our sister, as for now, We are...sorry. It 'twas our followers who attacked our own sister".

Smiling, Soarin put a hoof on her shoulder " it was your follower, not you. But I forgive you anyway Princess Luna." He paused for a second "wait, sent back?"

"Yes, our sister is having her student find a way to send thou back, but we must ask, why did thou kiss our sister?" Luna asked with a soft smile.

Soarins face boar a red that a tomato could envy "I...I thought I was...was going to die...and I didn't want to die without kissing her" he stammered, coaxing a chuckle from Luna.

"We see." She said pecking him on the cheek, and with that Luna smiled and her horn glowed and everything went white.

-Reality-

Soarin awoke with his head spinning, and noticed he was in a bed. The princess's bed.

His back and wings were in bandages as he lie on his stomach. He shifted slightly and immediately regretted the action as pain shot through him. He saw princess Celestia's face not inches from his own. Tears running down her cheeks.
"Princess Cele" he wasn't able to finish his words as Celestia forcefully pressed her muzzle to his. Soarin kissed her back, blushing at her forwardness.

Quickly breaking the kiss and blushing "I'm so sorry, i didn't mean to kiss you like that, its just you saved me and I wanted to thank you and.." soarin cut her off with a hoof over her muzzle.

"It's okay princess, i understand." Soarin said with a very gentle smile as he started to stand but gasped in pain.

Gasping and pushing him back onto the bed with a worried look, Celestia spoke "careful Soarin! You shouldn't move for at least a few days." She smiled at him as she spoke "You saved me Soarin. I'm forever in your debt" she kissed him again. This time, she felt the spark again, but this time it felt like a full fledged inferno. She wanted more, was it love?

Breaking the kiss Soarin blushed "princess Cele" he was again stopped by her, this time, by her hoof.

"Do not call me "princess" Soarin" she said moving her face close to his. "You selflessly gave your body to protect me. You don't have to call me princess." Celestia said with a smile.

Soarin's face went bright red as Celestia cuddled close to him. He blushed more, this time from embarrassment as the moment was interrupted by a growl from his stomach. Celesta blushed and giggled slightly at this "oh that's right, you have been asleep for two days."

She chuckled and remembered from reading his mind that he had a sweet tooth for pastries. Pie to be exact.
"Would you like some Apple Pie?" Celestia asked, a smile growing on her face.
