The mystery of Barry

Chapter 2 The Forest

I laid awake for a while in the forest waiting for them to come find me, but they never came. "Well it's time I search for some shelter," I said to myself. I gathered what I had just my tools and my shirt filled with what those ponies had called Zap apples.
The trees had startled to rattle and a howl came through the woods. I had to choice rather continue running deeper into the forest or back to the apple orchard where AJ was and knew that she would be waiting and take him to Twilight.
I decided to run deeper into the woods and having no sense of direction as I ran past tree after tree until I ran into something and tripped and fell down. As a face appeared through the dark and Green eyes stared upon me.

"Who dares wake up CHRYSALIS queen of the changelings?" She looks at Barry and asked, "who are you?"

"I'm Barry," nervously.

"Why are you out here this deep in the forest," as she asked with curiosity?

"I woke up in the hospital this morning and I managed to escape only to find out that 6 ponies were looking for me and was able to get away from them."

Queen Chyrsalis grinned. "Well Barry, would you like to stay here with me for the night" and he agreed feeling safer around her than those who had lied to him. (Chyrsalis was already coming up with a plan to take over Equestria as Barry took his tool belt off and took a Zap Apple out of his makeshift bag).

I offered her a Zap Apple and she used her magic to take the apple from me and she took a bite out of it and smiled.

"Thank you Barry", she said politely and she ate the apple. "Where did you find these at?"
I explained where in the forest and she called out one of her friends and told the changeling to get the whole crop of Zap Apples, the changeling left with a few others.
While we ate the remaining Zap Apples and I laid next to a tall oak tree and started to dose off until I saw that Chrysalis laid her head on my chest and she fell asleep, I was not out too long after her.
The next morning I awoke and saw Miss Chrysalis sleeping still on my chest and smiled, well at least I made a friend today and not someone who's trying to use me for something. I saw her smile in her sleep as I stroked her Dark Cerulean mane. I noticed that she had holes in her hooves, horn, and noticed her wings weren't like the flying ponies her's were more like a fly. For some reason I felt happy to have found her here and even though I knew something was off, I was happy to find a friend.

"So Barry," asked Chrysalis, opening her eyes." Any Ideas come to why those ponies were chasing you?" (Even his kindness is filling me, I want to keep him around she thought.)

"No, Chrysalis I don't even know where I am."

"Well you're in the land of Equestria, and well your safe from those ponies as long as with your with me". Barry smiled.
I gave her my last Zap Apple and I saw her eye look onto my I pod that was in my tool belt.

"What's that little box thing," she asked?

I smiled and I put the earphones in her ears and hit the play and "Let you down by Black Veil Brides" started to play and I could see that she liked the song or she was thinking that this was some kind of new magic.

"That is some lovely device," she said. I'm still hungry she thought to herself and I think this might do the trick as she kissed Barry on his lips.

" Whoa, Chrysalis we just met yesterday.. Are you sure?" Barry had a shocked face.

"Why not every queen needs a king" she told him and "I'm choosing you Barry to become my king."

I was shocked, surprised and confused at the same time. "Umm how does this work since we are not of the same species?" My mind had become overburdened with questions and noticed that I saw a greenish light appear in front of my eyes..

She smirked, as she knew that she had almost complete control of him and had all the love that she could want. "So Barry, will you be so kind to become my king?"

Barry's eyes turned green again for a second and he replied. "Yes Chrysalis, I'd be happy to become your king". He kissed her..

"Today we shall rest," said Chrysalis and "tomorrow we go to work". She had sent her changelings out and to scout the area for tomorrow. They were both alone now. She smiled as she laid her head down on Barry's chest. A greenish light had emerged from her horn as she grabbed a Zap Apple and split it in half and gave half to Barry.

"Thanks Chrysalis", smiling and took a bite.

--------------------------------------------------------Meanwhile in Ponyville------------------------------------------

"It's been two days Celestia how much longer do we have to wait till we can go in there and find him", asked Twilight?

"We will wait a few more hours and if no sign comes we will go into the Everfree forest and find him", said Celestia.

The seven ponies sat in the big part of the library, each one of them was anxious to go into the woods, Princess Luna was trying to see if she could find Barry if he was sleeping, but she came across something that gave her the chills down her back.

"We have a lone changeling roaming close to Ponyville" said Luna.
Rainbow dash was wanting to go buck the changeling back to its nest. As she tried to fly out the door AJ grabbed her tail and held her in the room.

"I want you six ready for anything we might encounter in the forest that's why I brought the Elements of Harmony," said Celestia. As she put the elements to their respective pony. "Now go forth and find him and bring him back before something bad happens," said Celestia.

"So Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy I want you two to fly above the Everfree forest, everyone else I would like you to come along with me into the forest and remember be careful we don't know what shape to expect him in," said Twilight. Everypony got their saddlebags altogether with the basic provisions and also one human sized straight jacket. They started into the woods.

Meanwhile Barry was looking at his tool pouch seeing what tools he had and decided to reorganized them. I watched Queen Chrysalis sun bathe as there was no cloud in the sky. I walked to a few of her fellow changelings subjects and they impersonated me pretty good as we all had a good laugh together. I rolled up my sleeve revealing the blood red Gear with a skull in the middle and under the gear said, The Coalition of Ordered Governments. One by one the changelings rolled up their sleeves and they didn't have the tattoo. I laughed as they transformed back and handed them a Zap Apple and the five split it up into five pieces and munched on it. I went back to Chrysalis as I saw that she was waking up. "Sleep well Chrysalis?"

"Yes Barry, I slept wonderful until my soft pillow decided to get up and leave me my head on the ground while he goofed off," she replied. She smiled as she was feeding off of Barry's caring emotions for her. I wasn't going to tell Barry that I was feeding off his emotions until later. "Barry, I know of this abandoned castle not too far from here, it's a huge place but it needs a lot of work what do you think sweetie?"

"Ok sure," I told her and I followed her up to the castle and we both looked around and saw that the throne room had two old thrones chairs and a banner over each one had a pony and the sun while the other banner hand the moon and another pony. The castle was showing its age but with a little elbow grease and some TLC we can make a nice home out of this smiling. I followed Chrysalis around the castle and she claimed huge room as their room. She used her magic and carved their names on the door and they continued around and found the castles old library which was full of books. I had picked up a book but I couldn't read the language and put the book back on the self. As the sun was heading down he made his way back to the room and laid on the old dusty bed and took the top sheet off and shook it creating a huge dusty cloud into the room. After the dust had settled Chrysalis laid down in the bed as Barry had tucked her in the bed and laid down right beside her and she had put her hoof around me and kissed me goodnight and I kissed her back and we feel asleep comfortably.

__________________________Meanwhile with Twilight_______________________________________

"Any luck up there in the sky Rainbow and Fluttershy"?

"Sorry Twilight" said Fluttershy.

"AJ, Pinky how about you guys"?

"All we found was a lot of zap apple cores.." (everyone's eyes opened wide remembering that he was eating them like crazy.) said AJ.

"We need to find him fast it's starting to get dark out here", said Twilight," AJ where did you find the pile of apple cores?"

"They were close to the Two pony sisters castle," said AJ. "He might be hiding somewhere around there". They all started heading to the old abandoned castle Twilight was determined to find Barry, while the rest of the girls wondered what was so special with this Barry guy." Is anyone else thinks it's a bad idea to be out here in the dark woods at night where we can only see so far ahead of us and no fire"? AJ, asked.

"We are fine" said Rainbow Dash "nothing is going to attack a big group like outs and besides the castle isn't that far ahead pointing straight ahead."
When they approached the crumbling castle they saw that there was a light on in the throne room, just as it started the rain started to pour. They ran into the castle and shook the rain off their coats and started to head towards the throne room. Twilight poked her head around the corner to get a look of the surroundings.

"Oh my", said Twilight "it seems that our changeling friends are using the castle to escape the rain and they are playing cards, it's weird where is Queen Chrysalis"?

"I don't have a good feeling about this," said Rarity, as she and Fluttershy tried to walk backward. They turned around as they heard snoring, Twilight opened the door slowly that showed Barry snoring on part of the bed and Chrysalis sleeping on the other side of the bed.

"Oh my oh my", Said Rarity.

"Look I bet he is still confused and Chrysalis is brainwashing him and feeding off his emotions to make her more powerful," said Twilight. She slowly walked up to Barry and said, "come with us we will take you away from her evilness".

I opened my eyes to see Twilight and her friends and I dare not move. I knew that Chrysalis was awake and waiting to see that I was about to do. I sat up and said. "What do you guys need"?

"We need to get you to safety," said Twilight. "Do you even know what she is even capable of"?

"Yes, I do, she is able to transform into anything or anyone she wants too and it seems that she feeds off emotion. (Starts to rub her mane and smiles.) I heard what you had said at your house Twilight. So far Miss Chrysalis has been treating me like a true friend, nothing personal Aj and thanks for saving me from that timberwolf eariler. So anyways what's so important about me anyways"?

"I promised Princess Celestia and Luna, that I wouldn't tell until the time is right," said Twilight. Looking down, "but I promise that you won't be harmed, we all just want to meet with you. Please just come and trust us".

"Want to go on a trip Chrysalis", I asked? "Why don't they come here to us if they want to talk?"

Chrysalis was smiling and said "sure lets go on a little trip".

"Ok, Twilight I'll go but Chrysalis has to come too". I watched as the six ponies huddled into a group outside, not really caring about what they said.
As they walked in," fine she may come but we have to escort her and you have to leave 30 minutes ahead of her" said Rainbow Dash. "We want to do this peacefully as possible".
"You have 15 minutes to meet us at the front gates," said Twilight with a little fear in her voice. They all left Barry and Chrysalis alone.

"Barry I'm impressed, so what's your plan"? She looked at him, awaiting for his response?
"Well I want a few of your changelings to follow me at a close distance so if something happens I got a little backup . I'm really just tired of them and want to get this finished with and over." Stood up and grabbed his tool belt.
"Hmmm ok," said Chrysalis, she walked up to Barry and they left towards the main gate, meeting up with Twilight and her friends.

Twilight took Barry's hand in her mouth and said "let's go and no funny business." Twilight was in front and Fluttershy was behind Barry as they escorted him back to Ponyville. "So how have you been surviving and how did you find Chrysalis Barry"?

"I found her when I tripped over her and we just talked a bit and we are just friends" ...I told her. I looked to each side and saw the changelings that were supposed to follow me in the trees in the background as the lightning struck the ground in front of us. "Let's get this over already". It poured down the whole time we walked to Ponyville.
____________Meanwhile______________________________________
Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinky Pie, and AJ were escorting Chrysalis.
"So Chrysalis what is with you and Barry," asked Rainbow Dash?

"Nothing really, he found me when he tripped over me running away from something or you guys. So do you care to fill in the details of what's so important with Barry"?

"To be honest," said AJ. "We want to know the same thing but she's not telling us anything. Also we are almost back to Ponyville so you need to be quiet no one knows about you returning since the last time you were here and we don't need an uproar."
"Fine", I told AJ. "But I do have to say that he is a nice guy, AJ".
"What do you mean nice guy"? asked AJ (looking confused). "We know your evil and all, but do you have a soft spot for him or a crush"?

(Chrysalis gave her an evil eye, even know that she was correct)" It just depends , lying and besides how would it look like for a pony and a human being to be a pair? I have powers he doesn't, I fly he can't..."

"I think he's adorable," said Rarity. "But since I don't have a clue what Celestia and Luna want with him, I'm just going to leave him alone for the moment".
"Oh look" said AJ, "we are at the Library and they knocked and went in".
