What is a family?
Princess Twilight Sparkle, and her friends, were the keeper of the Elements of Harmony. Until they were force to return them to the Tree of Harmony. The tree in return gave a locked box to the ponies.
The keys to unlocking the box were hidden, and were only found in time to save all of Equestria. However, the ponies that open the box, were not the friends of Princess Twilight. But the young Cutie Mark Crusaders, Sweetie Bell, Apple Bloom, and Scootaloo.
This is the start of one of their new adventures.

Apple Bloom was swing on the swing set in the school playground. She was waiting for her teachers, sister Applejack and Pinkie Pie, to show up and start showing her how to use her new element powers.
Apple Bloom looked down at her new cutie mark. Three apples color green, red and yellow/gold. A mix of Applejack and Pinkie Pie cutie marks. Apple Bloom was the element of honest fun. After all friends, should enjoy being together.
However, fun was not on Apple Blooms mind. She looks over to the seesaw, where Dinky Doo was playing with her mom and dad. Dinky was having a great time with Derpy and Time Turner, all of them laughing and playing together.
All Apple Bloom had of her folks been stories told to her by her grandmother and her sibling. She was happy but still sometimes Dinky Doo seem happier. Apple Bloom asked herself. "How can you miss something so much, that you never had?"
Apple Bloom was almost ready to cry, just a little, when she felt her self being push from behind. "HIGHER?!" Called out Pinkie Pie. Pinkie shoved the swing so hard that Apple Bloom had to fight not to fall out.
Pinkie Pie and Apple Bloom play together until Applejack show up. "Well now. What are you two up too?" "PLAYING!" shouted Pinkie.
Applejack shook her head. "And what did Apple Bloom learn from playing?"
"How to have fun, Silly. That my part of the elements! Smiles!" Retorted Pinkie.
Apple Bloom then said. "I am sorry; Pinkie, but I sort of know how to play already."
Pinkie Pie then started to bounce away. "Then my work it done."
Applejack hove planted and said. "I hope you know there is more to making folk smile than just playing. Right Apple Bloom?"
Sadly Apple Bloom nodded her head and said. "Aye sis. I did learn that today so far. And, I got to tell ya that I sort of feel sorry for Pinkie Pie."
"What makes you say that?" Asked Applejack.
"Well. See I was feeling sad just before Pinkie came round, and started playing with me. But, just as soon as we stop playing, the sadness came back." Explained Apple Bloom.
Applejack put a hove on Apple Blooms shoulder. "I take back all I was thinking. You are learning. You are keeping you mind open and thinking. That good. But, now we got to get on home and we also need to talk as we go along."
The road going back to Sweet Apple Acers was long but beautiful. It was hard to be unhappy in nature, and Apple Bloom smile at the world around her. But, then Applejack asked. "Now what were you unhappy about?"
"I was jealous." Confess Apple Bloom.
Applejack rolled her eyes. "It ant' Diamond Tiara again? Sis, we are better off in a lot of way...."
"It ant' Diamond Tiara." Said Apple Bloom. "It was Dinky Doo." Her head sank even lower than before. Shameful of the words that came out of her mouth.
Applejack could see that the words were hurting her sister for even say them. "Well? What on earth does Dinky Doo have that you don't?"
Taking a deep breath, Apple Bloom started. Know what was going to happen when she finished. "She got a mommy and daddy. I know you love me and all. And I ant’ missing no loving. But,”
However before Apple Bloom could get in another word. Pinkie Pie jump from out of no place and shouted. "Silly Willy Millie! Dinky Doo does not have parents. She just got Derpy, the Doctor and a crazy blue box!"
"PINKIE PIE! HUSH THAT TALK RIGHT NOW!" Screamed Applejack.
Apple Bloom was confused and now she was also scarred. Applejack only screamed when she was mad. And, right now big sister was real mad.
Taking a few deep breaths, Applejack looked down to Apple Bloom. "I sorry. I just had to get Pinkie to be quite. See, sis. The Whooves are what some folk call a blended family. What we use to call a stepfamily."
The three ponies started back down the road, with Pinkie Pie jump just in back of the two sisters. Applejack went on with the story. "See, you have always known, Dinky Doo, so you may not have noticed that she is a unicorn and her mother is a Pegasus."
Thinking back, Apple Bloom had to admit that she had never known a time when Derpy and Dinky had been apart. Then she recalls that Time Turner had only been round Ponyville a shot time. About as long as Applejack had been a keeper of the element of honesty. Also he was an earth pony?
Applejack went on. "See. What happen is that Derpy grew up around the parts. But, her dad got a job in Cloudsdale and she moved away. A few years later, about the time...about the time mom and dad pass....Derpy moved back to Ponyville. She had Dinky with her. See Cloudsdale is not a safe place for little one with no wings. So, Derpy had to move back to Ponyville for Dinky’s safty."
'MY TURN! MY TURN!" Cry out Pinkie Pie.
"Now what on earth do you know about this story?" Asked Applejack.
Pinkie Pie jump and said. "Derpy is always buying muffins at Sugarcube Corner. We talk almost all the time." Then Pinkie Pie started her part of the story. "Once upon a time. Derpy 'Ditzy Doo' Hooves was taking a package to the deepest, darkest parts of Manehattan. Danger was around every corner and there were a lot of corners in Manehattan. Derpy had to watch every steep she took. Knowing that each one may be her last...."
"It well be your last if you don't get on with the story." Said Applejack.
"Just setting the mood." Replied Pinkie. "Now where was I? Okay. Derpy had just drop off the package when she hear something inside a trash bin. But, it was closed. So, Derpy had to push it open with all her she had to see what was making that sad sound..... You know what...I don't like this story."
"You wanted to tell it, now finish it." Said Applejack.
Pinkie stopped jumping. The only time Pinkie stop was when some bad was about to happen. "Okay....It just....sad....Derpy looked inside and she found Dinky Doo. Some pony had really hurt her bad and after, they....After they hurt and starved her they just dump her in with the garbage." Pinkie started to cry.
Applejack took over. "See. Some ponies are not nice. Not even to family. In fact they may be even meaner to family. Do not ask me why, I ant' sure why myself. Just breaks my heart."
Now even Applejack was starting to tear up. "That where good ponies, like Derpy, take up for the no good ponies. Derpy had so much love to give, that she gave a lot of it to Dinky Doo. And, Time Turner had so much love for the both of them that he asked if he could join in the family. And, we in Ponyville are blessed to have the whoove family with us."
That night Applejack saw that Apple Bloom was writing in her CMC book. "May I read with you got there?" Asked Applejack.
"Sure." And hand the book over to her big sister.
"To day I learned that family is all about love. I sort of knew that, being in a loving family. But, not all fillies are lucky like I am. And, I am happy for Dinky Doo for finding a good mom and dad. On the other hoof, I also learn that being jealous of what other ponies have only make you feel bad. I feel even worse about being jealous about Dinky Doo family when there are ponies that would give up there cutie mark just to have one good hug form some pony that loves them. Makes me feel sad that some folk may never get that love. "
"Then there how bad I feel for Pinkie Pie. As bad as I feel, I think she feel worse, but she try to cover it up with parties and playing. Thing is that you cannot play forever."
Applejack closes the book and looked at her little sister. "You sure did learn a lot today, Apple Bloom. Not all of it was good, but you learn it. I am right proud to be your sister."
Apple Bloom said. "I want to be a better friend. Not just to Dinky, but all other ponies."
Bedtime came and Applejack lay in own warm and safe bed. Thinking about Pinkie Pie. "I want to be a better friend also. The main thing I learn today was that you never stop learning."
