Chapter 1: Getting Stuck

Shadowmere was standing there chewing some grass, just waiting for her owner to come out with his companion. Must my master always take so long in these dungeons. She thought spitting out the grass. She picked up some more grass and started chewing it, This is always the most boring part of jurneys with them I just hope that my master doesn't make Lydia ride on me again, she always rides either too far back or too far forward on me.

The big door to the dungeon swung open and Shadowmere saw Lydia run out just in time to see a mage blast her with odd green magic, Paralisis magic shouldn't have destroyed her. then he saw the Dragonborn strike down the mage and Shadowmere began to run for her master. He was far away and the Dragonborn summoned Arvak, Shadowmere started to turn when he saw Arvak blasted by the same odd magic. She hurried to save the Dragonborn only to be blasted by another mage Ha I'll just reconstitute, Shadowmere thought as the magic hit her and she closed her red eyes.

When she opened her eyes he was facing Arvak, "What why are you here?"

"Simple he/she we were teleported vary high in the air" Arvak answered.

Shadowmere looked down, they were racing down to the ground and Shadowmere could make out the glint of Lydia's armor a few hundred feet below them, falling. "But I don't think we're above Skyrim or Cyrodiil. I don't see the Throat of the World, nor the White Gold Tower."

"But there is a really tall mountain" Arvak said pointing at a large mountain with a city stuck to the side of it.

"I have been all over the nine provinces of Tamriel and I have never seen that mountain. We must be on another continent"

There was a loud scream as Lydia hit the ground. "Well I hope to reconstitute quickly" Shadowmere said to Arvak.

"Don't worry I'll find the master when he resom..." Arvak stopped talking as he and shadowmere smashed into the ground.

It took the two of them three days to reconstitute, the first thing Arvak said once he had his jaw back was "How is this possible I am a summon I should have returned to the my home upon death?"

"And I should have taken longer to revive." Shadowmere said making sure that he had finished his reconstitution into a stallion. "Do you feel that." Shadowmere said suddenly.

"What?"

"I don't feel my god Sithis. Try to contact your gods."

Arvak concentrated and his purple flames died down "I can't contact the Ideal Masters, I don't get it I should be able to contact them, but I am cut off." Arvak's flames began to raise "You don't suppose we're in Oblivion, do you?"

"No I would still be able to feel Sithis then, we're somewhere out of his reach."

"Then we need to find a horse." Arvak said abruptly.

"Why?"

"To find out where we are."

"But we can't, we both look like embodiments of death, bonehead."

"So we'll scare them into telling us."

"But that means we need to catch one first."

"Just put on your feminine charms." Arvak said turning out one of his eyes to appear to wink.

"Hay bonehead, I'm a male now. You know I change genders in between deaths."

"Really you managed to get yourself killed since the last time I saw you?"

"Yes, so there goes your 'brilliant' plan."

"Then woo a mare" Arvak said with his skeletal grin.

"You know I'm horrible at that sort of thing." Shadowmere said.

"Well I doubt I'd be able to woo a mare, especially considering I'm a purple skeleton that's on fire, and not just normal fire, purple ghostly fire."

"Well then how do you want to go about it?" Shadowmere asked.

"Oh, lets just wonder into a random town and ask the horses at the town stables."

"Great so we can get massacred by the town guards." Shadowmere pointed out.

"Good point, but we don't have much of a choice, do we."

"We could ambush a caravan."

"A couple of nightmarish horses attacking a caravan just to talk to a horses, that would prove their point."

"Whose point is being proven."

"All of those guards that have ever attacked us." Arvak said sure of himself.

"I don't care about proving their point."

"Your stingy when you're a male."

"No I'm not."

"You're right, you're stingy all the time."

"You're about to lose your skull again if you don't shut your trap."

"Fine." Arvak said ducking a kick from Shadowmere's froe leg.

The two of them walked for about an hour before they finally found a road. They followed the road, bickering all the way like an old married couple. They eventually found their way to the outskirts of a little town.

"Odd, there aren't any stables." Arvak said as they approached the town.

Shadowmere rolled his eyes and said "looks like we're going to go into town and have to find the horse."

"Well we best get into the town and fight till we find out where we are."

"Or we can find out by sneaking around."

"Well you can sneak but I will fight." Arvak said with the hotter fire in his eye holes.

"And end up dead, only to resurrect and be cut down again and again, until you eventually end up in the dungeon of the main keep, carted off to some mages lab for study then end up being carved into and eventually used as a focus for necromancy. On the other hoof we could sneak around and steal the information."

"But I can't melt into shadows like you."

"So you'll stay here."

"But I don't want to greet our new guest alone" Arvak said pointing to the armored horses that were charging at them.

"I really hate it when you do that." Shadowmere said wanting to rip Arvak's jaw off.
