Dinner with Flutterkind/A Secret About Flutterkind and Fluttershy

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Scootaloo was surprised, as her ears perked up.

"You mean?", she said, "I'm going to meet my grandma?"

"Yes", Fluttershy said.

Soon, Fluttershy and Scootaloo had made it back to the cottage. Before going inside, Fluttershy talked to Scootaloo.

"I just want to warn you", Fluttershy said, "She's very affectionate, especially around fillies".

"I'll be OK, Mommy", Scootaloo said, "I really want to see her now". Fluttershy pushed the door open and saw her mother, Flutterkind, making dinner for the family. Flutterkind looked like Fluttershy, but had a purple mane instead of a pink one. Her coat was the same butter-yellow, like Fluttershy's. Flutterkind was a cooker, and it wasn't really a surprise why. Flutterkind's cooking was like a slice of the Afterlife. Flutterkind covered a pot with a lid and turned around, smiling.

"Hello, Sweetie", she said, hugging her daughter. Flutterkind's voice sounded like Fluttershy's.

"Hello, Mother", Fluttershy said, nuzzling her mother's cheek. After letting go of Fluttershy, Flutterkind looked down at Scootaloo.

"You must be Fluttershy's daughter, am I right?", she asked.

"Mm-hmm", Scootaloo said, "I'm Scootaloo". Flutterkind smiled and picked up the filly.

"I'm Flutterkind", she said, hugging her, "Your new grandmother".

"I just met you", Scootaloo said, "and I love you already".

"I do too, Sweetie", Flutterkind said, kissing Scootaloo's muzzle and making her blush, "I know it might be a little hard to get used to calling me your grandma, so call me whatever you feel comfortable with".

"OK, Gramma", Scootaloo said, instantly giving her a title. Flutterkind smiled and put her down.

"I like the title", Flutterkind said, "OK, go wash up. Dinner is almost ready". Scootaloo nodded and went upstairs. Fluttershy looked at her mother.

"Where's Father?", Fluttershy said.

"He said he had 'something to do'", Flutterkind said, putting emphasis on the last three words, "Like he says every time I want us to spend time with you".

"*sigh*", Fluttershy sighed in disappointment, "Why?"

"You know why, Sweetie", Flutterkind said. Flutterkind could see tears forming in Fluttershy's eyes, so she hugged her. "Sweetie, you still have me. I've been with you ever since you were born".

"I just want Father to like me", Fluttershy said.

"I know you do, and so do I", Flutterkind said, "But I guess will have to keep wishing for it". At that point, Flutterkind heard the upstairs bathroom door open, followed by the sound of hoof-clopping. "OK, Sweetie. Scootaloo's coming back. We'll talk later, OK?" Fluttershy nodded and sat down in one of the chairs at the table.

"I'm back!", Scootaloo said.

"I can see that, Scootaloo", Flutterkind said, "Dinner is ready".

"Great", Scootaloo said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a-" Her sentence was cut short when the front door opened up. Angel had hopped into the kitchen.

"Hey, Scootaloo", he said, "Hey, Flutterkind".

"Hello, Angel", Flutterkind said, "You're just in time for dinner".

"Cool", Angel said, hopping over to the table and sitting on top of it. Soon, everyone had gotten their dinner. Flutterkind had made herself, Fluttershy, and Scootaloo a cream-of-mushroom-casserole with light broccoli, cheese, and corn, while Angel had gotten a salad, very different from the one he usually gets from Fluttershy. This one was very full of carrots, and had a small spice to it, and was much tastier. Also, there was sweetbread, green beans, and macaroni-and-cheese for sides, and soda as beverages.

Everything tasted good to Scootaloo. She really liked it. While eating, they talked among themselves.

"Is everything OK?", Flutterkind asked. Scootaloo was about to say something, but her mouth was full, so she simply nodded, as did the others. "Good". Scootaloo swallowed what was in her mouth, then spoke.

"So, Gramma", Scootaloo said, wiping her muzzle with a napkin, "How have you been?"

"Fine, Sweetie", Flutterkind said, "Thank you for asking".

"What is it like up in Cloudsdale?", Scootaloo asked.

"Well...", Flutterkind said, "I would say... good, a little cold, and..." Under her breath, she finished. "...horrible!"

"Hmm?", Scootaloo said. Flutterkind noticed what she said.

"Oh... it's nothing. Cloudsdale is good".

"Cool. I wish I could go to Cloudsdale".

"You never been to Cloudsdale before?"

"No. I never even stood on a cloud before. I can't fly".

"Oh... is that why?" Scootaloo nodded. "Sweetie, your time will come soon".

"That's what Rainbow Dash said, and I still can't fly, nor do I have my cutie mark". They had all finished at that point and Flutterkind collected their plates and set them in the sink. After returning, Flutterkind returned and Angel hopped off for a nap.

"You'll get your cutie mark when you've found your special talent", Flutterkind said, nuzzling Scootaloo's cheek. Scootaloo smiled.

"I hope so", she said, nuzzling her back.

"OK, who wants dessert?", Flutterkind said, smiling.

"I do!", Scootaloo said instantly after hearing the word "dessert".

"I would like some", Fluttershy said. Flutterkind smiled as she walked over to the refrigerator. She pulled out a triple-layer-chocolate-chip-cheesecake that she had made herself. Scootaloo's mouth watered at the sight of the delicious cheesecake. Flutterkind set it on the table and grabbed a knife. She cut herself a small slice and let the others cut their own. Fluttershy cut herself a piece that was a little smaller than her mother's, and Scootaloo cut herself a very large slice, almost about a quarter of the cake. Flutterkind didn't mind, and neither did Fluttershy. They ate their cheesecake and soon finished.

Scootaloo started to feel tired. Her meal and her dessert getting to her. Within minutes, she fell asleep, her face in her hooves. Flutterkind smiled.

"She's so cute when she's asleep", she said, "I'll put her to bed. Where does she sleep?"

"She sleeps in my bed", Fluttershy said.

"OK". Flutterkind walked over to Scootaloo and carefully picked her up, not trying to wake her.

"Oh...", Fluttershy said, "Could you please put a diaper on her? She has nighttime accidents".

"OK. Thanks for letting me know".

Four hours later...

Scootaloo woke up when the smell of something very foul attacked her muzzle. She placed her hooves on her muzzle and sat up to find the source of the smell. But then, she felt something squish under her flank, and the smell increased. Scootaloo looked down and saw something very unexpected. She had messed her diaper. It wasn't really a surprise, since she didn't go before finishing her meal, and her body was completely relaxed. Scootaloo really didn't mind the smell, since it was her own, but knew she was going to get a rash if she didn't get changed. She got out of the bed, her diaper hanging between her hind legs, and walked into the hallway.

She reached the top of the staircase and was about to walk down, but she heard some voices. She looked over the railing and saw Fluttershy and Flutterkind, talking to each other. Fluttershy was crying and Flutterkind was cuddling her. Scootaloo stood perfectly still, trying not to disturb them.

"Sweetie", Flutterkind said, "I know you're upset".

"I... I can't take it anymore!", Fluttershy said, "Every time-!" A sound reached Fluttershy's ear. She looked toward the stairs and saw Scootaloo. Scootaloo had tried to sit down, but her diaper let out a loud squish as her mess was pressed into her flank.

"Scootaloo?", Flutterkind said, "Are you OK?"

"I...", Scootaloo said, "I'm sorry for interrupting you".

"It's OK", Flutterkind said, "In fact, come here. You need to hear this too". Scootaloo walked down the stairs. Flutterkind wanted Scootaloo to sit in her lap, but Scootaloo didn't.

"I...", she said, "I kinda... pooped myself". The smell reached Flutterkind's muzzle.

"Oh... well let's get you changed first. Come with me". Scootaloo followed Flutterkind to Fluttershy's nursery.

After changing Scootaloo into a fresh diaper, Flutterkind threw the soiled diaper in the trash.

"Gramma?", Scootaloo said.

"Yes, Sweetie?", Flutterkind said, wiping her hooves with a foal wipe.

"Why is Mommy crying?"

"Well... Come with me. We'll talk about it".

Scootaloo and Flutterkind got back into the living room. Scootaloo sat next to Fluttershy, who pulled Scootaloo into a tight hug.

"OK", Flutterkind said, "I'll tell you what's going on, but you have to promise not to tell anypony else".

"I promise. Cross my heart and hope to-", Scootaloo said before a hoof covered her mouth.

"Please", Fluttershy said, "don't do a Pinkie Promise. Every time I do, Pinkie Pie usually shows up". Scootaloo nodded.

"Anyway", Flutterkind said,  "Fluttershy is upset because Flutterheart, her father and my husband, doesn't like her".

"Why not?"

"He was upset because he wanted a colt, not a filly. He beat me and beat her. I've been taking care of Fluttershy without him, and I'm glad that she's a fair distance from him. That's why Fluttershy doesn't have much confidence in herself. She was lucky to even touch the ground".

"You mean...", Scootaloo said, "He never took care of Mommy?"

"No, Sweetie", Flutterkind said, "I have. I taught her how to fly, I changed her diapers, I fed her, I've been looking after her. I even used to bring her to work with me everyday, because I knew she would be beaten if I didn't. I was, and still am, in charge of making the rainbows in Cloudsdale, and it was very dangerous if Fluttershy fell into the mixture. I just can't stop seeing if she's OK. I almost wanted to beat the heck out of that griffon who yelled at her". Scootaloo remembered when Gilda the Griffon yelled at Fluttershy out of anger.

"Oh... I'm sorry, Mommy".

"Th-that's OK, Scootaloo", Fluttershy said.

"Now, Scootaloo", Flutterkind said, "Never tell anypony else about this, OK?" Scootaloo nodded.

"Yes, Gramma".
