Chapter 1 - stupid chat
I blearily opened my eyes, realizing i had almost fallen asleep while playing
"Hey, you alright over there?" The voice in my headphone was pestering me again
"Yeah, yeah. I almost passed out, but that's about it"
"Man, dude if your that tired~" I interrupted him
"I know, i know, I should sleep, but then again, where's the fun in that?"
"Didn't you say you had something going on tomorrow?"
"Fine, i'll sleep... After this quest" He laughed
"Then you better be prepared to stay up a while, this one's a doozy"
"Right, we'll have it done in ten seconds flat" I heard something hitting something else
"What am I going to do with you"
"Help me beat this quest, now come on" My little animated character ran into the next room and started attacking the little lizardmen. "You coming?"
"Yeah, yeah, hold your horses Leroy"
"And you facepalmed at the dash quote"
"Yeah, well that was a dash quote, this is Leroy, the greatest adventurer to exist"
"So your comparing me to him then? thanks"
"Yeah right, we'll see"
His character ran in alongside me and we fought

After a while we managed to complete the quest
"Okay man, i'm going to bed, seeya tomorrow"
"Yeah, see~" he was cut off by a sound, a small 'chuff'
"Tory?"
There was no reply
"Hey Tory, you there?"
A small scuffling could be heard
"Are you playing another joke on me Tory? Cuz it's not funny"
I heard the mic scrape against something and a voice i didn't know spoke
"Who is this?"
"Uhh... I could ask the same of you, who are you and what happened to Tory?"
"How much do you know?"
"What do you mean? I asked you a question, so I expect an answer"
There was silence, the tension hung heavy in the air.
"Hello?"
No reply. I logged out and got up, stretching. I figured that it was just Tory playing a little prank on me, and the other voice was probably his dad or something. Closing my laptop and turning on my fan I looked at the time
"Crap... it's already that late?"
I crawled into bed, the soft mattress and sheets felt like clouds. My tired mind began to shut down and I closed my eyes.

I woke up the next day and looked at the clock
"Crap... i'm too late" I rubbed my face, I was not happy. I was supposed to go to job interview at 12, but it was already way past that.
I climbed out of bed and turned on my laptop, the bright welcome screen slightly painful for my eyes. I yawned and logged on to the game.
"Hey, is anyone on?"
Noone replyed
"Dangit, looks like i'm soloing today"
I shrugged and looked at what quests I have left. And I started on one.
After spending a good hour on one quest and managing to finish it alone I heard a knock on my door
"Okay... Who visits me?" I logged out and stood, walking over to the door
"Who is it?"
"Someone who needs to speak to you"
"I meant more along the lines of a name"
"Humph, i'm sergeant Gregor"
"Sergeant?"
"Yes"
"Why are you here?"
"You'll see, now let me in"
I remembered the voice from somewhere, but i didn't remember where. I opened the door and let the large man in
"Now, why are you here?"
"To give you something" I looked at him questioningly before he continued "your friend received the same thing"
"My friend?" I wondered, I didn't really have any friends to speak of save those online "What's his name?"
he moved, if i had blinked I would have missed him reaching into his shirt and taking out a silenced pistol and pointing it straight at the center of my chest.
"Don't move" I froze, standing there, not moving.
"Good, now show me any weapons you have"
"I don't have any" even speaking I never took my eyes off that pistol and his finger. His finger twiched slightly and I leapt to the side an instant before the pistol fired.
"Damnit, hold still" I grabbed the door and slammed it in his face as hard as I could. Splinters of wood went everywhere and he fell down.
"I can't beleive that just happened" I bent over and releived the man of his weapon. I took ouit the magazine and counted the remaining ammo, 5 bullets. I removed all the bullets and hid them, putting the clip back in and looking at the unconscious guy
"That would not have ended well if you had hit me" He groaned, apparently just now coming to and I pointed the empty pistol at him
"Get up, slowly" I followed his movement with the pistol "Now tell me, why are you here"
"To get you in case he told you anything" He kept his eyes on me, and I knew that the slightest falter he'd grab the pistol away and i'd be in great danger
"Now get out, and don't come back"
"I can't do that" he grabbed the pistol's barrel and yanked the gun out of my hand, spinning it around and pointing it at me.
"And now i'll finish what I started" click click click "So you took the bullets"
He pulled out another clip "And didn't search me"
"Oh crap"
"Good bye little rat" he loaded the next clip and I didn't get a chance to move when the pistol went off, the bullet striking me dead center of the chest
I fell to my knees "Damnit"
"I'll send a cleanup later" his voice was distant, like it was at the other end of a tunnel, my vision was going blurry. The weird thing was there was no pain, only anger, and a single thought entered my mind LIVE
I slowly rose to my feet, blood flowing down my chest and back. I couldn't hear his voice any more, it was just a hum in the background, the only thing I heard was a rushing noise, like water, flowing past my ears.
I launched forward, my mind a jumble of thoughts, with 2 single thoughts prevailing LIVE, KILL I grabbed him by the neck, the look on his face lost to my eyes, and I punched him, my fist sinking into the flesh of his face. I felt something break, but that didn't stop me, I kept pounding his face, each time my vision getting blurrier and blurrier until I finally blacked out.

I woke up god knows how much longer later in a place I didn't know, it was white and sterile, and i couldn't move.
"Where am I? Didn't I die? This doesn't SEEM like hell"
"You didn't die" a voice belonging to a person I couldn't see spoke, from the voice I guessed old sciency guy.
"Then what happened?"
"It is difficult to explain, so i shall put it in terms you can meet easily, you were shot in the chest, then pummeled one of our agents to death" my blood went cold
"I killed him??? How? I was shot! How would i be strong enough to kill him when I was just SHOT?!"
"that is exactly what we're here to find out"
I stopped talking, and looked around as best i could, there was a machine over me, with wickedly long needles pointed at me
"what is that thing that looks like it would hurt a whole lot"
"we do not have a name for it yet, however we call it the mass-injector" It started geting closer
"uhh... is it supposed to be moving... towards me"
"yes, yes it is, it will inject you with a new drug we created in order to determine what caused your sudden burst of strength, your reaction to said drug will tell us what we need to know."
I couldn't move in the least as all of the needles entered my skin, it felt like someone had stuck me in a room with several very angry, VERY large bees. It hurt like hell.
And then the injection began, it felt like someone decided to skin me and then rub me with salt.
I screamed in pain for what felt like an eternity, and as the needles were drawn out the pain continued, filing every fiber of my being with agonizing pain. I couldn't black out, it wouldn't let me. slowly, very very slowly the pain faded to a dull ache encompassing my entire body
"you survived, this is a good sign"
"i swear" my voice was shaky and small "when i get out of here, i am going to kick your ass"
"however, you living was the one result we cannot replicate. it was evidently your will. and, since we know that now we no l; longer have any use for you" the things restraining me released, but i couldn't move. A big man, a simple hired thug, picked me up and tossed me onto his shoulder like a sack of potatoes
"take him to the disposal pit and throw him in" The thug nodded his meaty head and started carrying me away
"let. me go" he opened a circular door, inside was a gigantic pit that i couldn't even see the bottom of, but then the smell hit me, it was the worst thing i had smelled in my life, if i were able to i would have thrown up then and there, but i didn't get the chance to empty my stomach on my captor as he, evidently also hating the smell, tossed me in almost immediately after opening it.
I fell. For what seemed like forever i was falling through almost pitch-black. And then, i saw a light at the end of the tunnel. The smell of rotting was nearly solid but there was another smell, it smelled like something even worse, something... unearthly
I looked down and i saw a heap of corpses, come splattered everywhere and some relatively intact. I was praying for a miracle, for something to just appear and sweep me from the jaws of death. and then it happened. The air itself above the corpses opened up like a mouth as i fell, inside was darker than any 'dark' i had ever seen.
I fell into the darkness.

I landed, something that felt like a really thick jello stopped me, but somehow the force from the fall itself was just gone, and slowly, I sank into the jello, too tired to move. As the goo slowly englfed me, it sent a warm feeling through my body, an almost pleasent feeling, not unlike the sun on a cool day
