Dreams Opens One's Heart
Chpt 1: Dreams and Hopes
Load Full StoryAquila Sparkle hurried through the rain, clinging on tight to her packet. She was to deliver it to Fluttershy's home. Hopefully, Flower Bloom or Leafy Breeze would be there, since Fluttershy was away. Aquila pushed against the rain and the wind, knowing that Twilight would get mad at her if she didn't take the package safely to Fluttershy's. In there was some "important stuff you youngsters don't need to know about" quote from Twilight.
A voice caught Aquila by surprise. "Hey. Have a few moments to spare?"
Aquila turned. There was Blue Shine, Rarity's son. His blue eyes glowed in the darkness of the gloomy day, and Aquila felt her heart leap. He walked towards her, and her heart beat faster.
"H-Hey," Aquila stammered.
"Hey. You have a few moments? Pinkie Pie's giving out free hot cocoa." He tossed his gorgeous blonde mane towards Sugar Cube Corner.
"Um...yeah." Aquila followed Blue Shine inside. "So..."
"Er," Blue Shine said.
"Hi guys!" Twinkle Pie said as he bounced up to the couple. Being the son of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich, he had a great taste for parties, and the classic Pinkie Pie smile. His golden brown coat was covered with party confetti, and little wisps of ribbon dotted his bouncy dark-pink mane.
"Hey Twinkle," Aquila said. She smiled. "I heard that Pinkie's giving out free-"
"Blue Shine!" A new voice interrupted. It belonged to Leafy Breeze, the bold daughter of Fluttershy and Big Mac. Her pale red coat gleamed in the light of Sugar Cube corner. "Come on, let's go get hot cocoa!"
Blue Shine looked uncomfortably at Aquila. She shrugged and watched him leave, her heart tearing apart. Twinkle watched her closely.
"Sad? Not any more? Here, a few extra marshmallows in yours!" Twinkle exclaimed as he passed Aquila a cup of hot cocoa.
"Thanks," Aquila said. Twinkle's golden eyes shone with care, and Aquila smiled in gratitude.
The doorbell clanged. Flower Bloom stepped inside, her pale yellow coat drenched with spring rain. "Aquila! There you are! Fluttershy wants the package from Twilight...is that it?" Flower mentioned to the package on the ground in front of Aquila.
"Y-yes. You-you can have it," Aquila stammered. Flower was a model for Photo Finish, like her mother, and considered a star in Ponyville. Her pink mane was complementary, and the pale green iris's of hers twinkle beautifully. Today, a gorgeous petite dress made of shimmery, pink fabric (developed by Rarity) and pretty white lace covered her tulip cutie mark. Her mane was let down, with a pretty pink bow holding it back.
"Okay, thanks!" She flashed everyone (who was now looking) a dazzling smiled and left the cheerful shop. Aquila heard Blue Shine sigh and mutter "Isn't she amazing?". That practically broke her heart.
Pinkie Pie mimicked his sigh. "Of course, Fluttershy's daughter is awesome!" Then she did the "Pinkie Bounce" away.
Blue Shine glared after the party planner and didn't notice when Aquila slipped out into the rain. She ran back to her mother's house, hoping that the rain would help hide her tears of frustration and anger. She had like Blue Shine for a long long time. But why didn't he notice her?
Twilight opened the door just as Aquila reached the doorstep. "Come one in, Lepus tried Spike's nacho recipe. And it worked." Aquila trudged in.
"What's wrong?" Flash Sentry asked. He had his guard outfit on, and he was munching nachos.
"Nothing." Aquila grabbed a nacho and chewed on it.
"But hey! This recipe rocks!" Lepus said, hoping to cheer up the mood.
"Yeah. Mom, I'll be up in my room." Aquila sadly tramped up to the new extension in the house. When Twilight got married, she expanded the home so there was room for her new family. Aquila's room was up in the branches of the tree, right across from Twilight's room. It had a door covered with constellation maps and drawing, but Aquila didn't notice. She used her magic to sweep up all the maps and drawings and dumped them in her desk. More like filed them in her file cabinets. Aquila tromped over to her star-themed bed and slept.
She was in the royal Canterlot gardens. Luna was standing before her.
"Hello, dear Aquila." The princess of the night stepped forward. "Remember to dream, and hope will light your way."
The dream faded and Aquila woke up. It was nighttime now. She decided to leave the house and go out to Sweet Apple Acres. There was only one pony in the world who would understand. And she was going to see her.
