Chapter 1: Last Night

Vinyl woke to the almost normal feeling of a hangover. She didn't like them at all, but at this point she had grown fairly accustomed to waking up feeling like she was the center of all gravity and that one small moment would tip the entire world. Not to mention how every light seemed to have the strength of a sun, but those were what the shades were meant deal with. That and just being cool looking by themselves. Then her horn began to glow a dim light blue, and so did her dark purple glasses on the desk.

Along with the glasses were a simple digital clock like most others, and a clumsily looking pile of CDs. All of which were used for Vinyl's "research" on electronic music and a few other types of genres. After a few seconds the glasses floated nicely onto her magenta eyes, it softened the strength of lights and made it bearable for her look around. Vinyl sluggishly got out of bed hoping that she would be able to get off of it before falling right back to sleep again. After getting off her messy bed, Vinyl heard a familiar voice call to her in her bed.

"Well somepony is finally awake, how much did you drink last night?"

Vinyl looked around to find out who was calling out, though she had a feeling she already knew who it was.

"Can we not talk about my drinking problems right now, I just woke up and the last thing I need is to be reminded of last night." Vinyl responded in a somewhat annoyed tone.

The voice came closer giving Vinyl a little bit of a clearer view of who was talking, the pony seemed female based on the look of her body. She had nicely combed black mane, a tail with light grey fur, and a purple treble clef for her cutie mark.

"So you admit to getting your flank drunk last night, and doing some stupid stuff." The mare said with a disappointed look on her face.

"I didn't say I got drunk last night! I just said that I don't want to be reminded of last night." Vinyl said defensively, she wasn't that good of a liar.

"Vinyl we have been roommates for almost a year now, you really think I can't tell when your lying?" The mare said with the same disappointed face.

Vinyl really wanted to stop the conservation right now, and get on with the day, but knowing Octavia she knew that wasn't going to happen.

"Well I guess a couple of things did happen last night..." Vinyl said sheepishly to Octavia.

Octavia sighed and went on with the conversation. Of course Vinyl must have done something stupid, she was always doing something stupid when she went out drinking.

“What did you this time?” She asked in annoyed tone hoping that wasn’t all that bad.

“Well that remember big producer I have meaning to talk to, well I talked to him.” Vinyl tried her best put on a smile while saying this, as if too soften the blow the little. It didn’t work that well as she hoped.

Octavia toke it normally. She had experienced many of Vinyl’s surprises, all of which can be ranged from harmless to oh sweet Celestia what have you done! This one would probably on under as great just great. Vinyl went and talked to Chart Topper, one of the biggest producers, while she barely had any spotlight. Well aside from the night scene, and even then she is still didn’t hold a candle against the rest of the ponies who she competed against or at least that’s so she had been told. Octavia was going to ask why, but she already knew the answer to it.

“What did you say to him?” The mare asked looking a little troubled with half her not wanting to find out.

Vinyl stopped for a moment and thought about what she last said to him again. It didn’t come at first instead a bunch of memories first of her drinking, which is expected when you have a hangover. Then Vinyl walked around and found the producer somehow.Vinyl guessed she had came a course Chart Topper or she just somehow made to his work place with the former being much more likely in a place like this. Vinyl tried to remember what she actually said to him, but it was all in fragments. Something about spreading her influence across Equestria, or something along that nature. It was really stupid, not as stupid as some other things Vinyl did, but still really stupid nonetheless. Yet besides all that there was one other thing. she didn’t quite remember it, but it seemed very stupid.

“Basically a lot of stupid stuff, and things I regret. You know the usual things drunks say.” Vinyl continued to smile sheepishly mostly because she was trying to keep it light. Yet that thing was still bothering her, what did she say?

“Vinyl you know I won’t let you off the hook that easily, now what did you say?” Octavia said in a almost deadpan voice. She knew that look on Vinyl’s face too well, Octavia liked to call it the “what did I do last night” look.

Vinyl sighed, sometimes she wonders why she selected Octavia as her roommate. She had plenty of other places she could stay at like ummm, no that won’t work. Oh what about the, wait no they kicked her out of there too. Vinyl could always room with, no hang on they had a huge fight and stopped being friends. Well she didn’t have a lot of options, but Vinyl could find another place if she tried. “Look I don’t remember just get off my back already, your not my mom anyways so just leave me alone!” Vinyl blurted out now starting to get a little annoyed.

“Well come on now that no way to treat a mare who made you breakfast.” Octavia said in a sly tone with a little smirk. Vinyl had to take the bait, Octavia knew her almost all to well.

“So what I’m not hungry!” Vinyl said still annoyed, however it seemed like her stomach was working against her because the next thing she heard was it growl. Of course it had to happen now of all the times to happen, stupid hunger.

“Your stomach begs to differ,” were the words that slid of Octavia’s mouth with her smirk now widening. Yes everything was going according to her last minute plan.

"Fine, it something about helping becoming big, and another thing I really don't remember. However I think it's something important..."

Octavia's smirk began to disappeared as fast it appeared. That was all she was going to get out Vinyl wasn’t she, oh well at least it something. Well now that was over she might as help with Vinyl's hangover, and so without saying a thing she went to get Vinyl her breakfast.

Things were now much more enjoyable without Octavia talking. Not that Vinyl didn’t normally enjoy talking to her, but you know hangovers and such. Too bad that wouldn't last all day because just from waking up Vinyl could tell it was going to be one of those days.
