Earlier that day....

"Okay class, since we recently went into our poetry unit, I have a very special assignment for you all!" Ms. Cheerilee said happily.

Somefilly in the class groaned. Ms. Cheerilee ignored it and continued speaking. "For this assignment, you must write a heartfelt poem to a loved one. All poems are due by next Thursday, so you have plenty of time to work on it. Now please pack up and wait for the bell to ring!"

As soon as she said that, everyfilly put on their saddlebags and got into their little groups. "This is the best assignment EVER!" Sweetie Belle squeed. "Well, i'm gonna write about Rainbow Dash and her superultraextremeawesomazingness!" That line, of course, came from Scootaloo. "Well, Ah don't know who Ah should write 'bout." And so Applebloom sat there, pondering.

Applebloom cleared her throat as she stood in front of her big sister, who was seated in a chair at the kitchen table. The filly held a piece of paper with scribbled writing all over it. Taking a deep breath, she began to read the poem out loud.

Every day when I get home,

My very best friend greets me,

And not a thousand words or a thousand poems,

Could describe the feelings in me.

The feeling of a sisterly hug,

And a small ruffle of mane,

Is how I know I am home,

And to her I return the same.

My sister Applejack,

She's the one who I write about,

The only one who knows what i'm thinking,

Before I say it out loud.

She knows if I am sick,

She knows when I am sad,

She knows how to calm me down,

When i'm feeling mad.

She is my only sister,

As I am to her the same,

And nothing can break out bond,

It's made out of steel chain.

And even though sometimes,

I drive her absolutely insane,

I know that she still loves me,

That fact will never change.

My sister is the very best,

And honest through and through,

So she can never lie to me when she says

"I love you" because it's true.

The same goes from me to her,

I can't lie about it in any way,

that I love my sister Applejack,

The best sister in every way.

And so every day,

When I get home,

She greets me all the same...

With a sisterly hug,

and a small tussle of mane,

I know how much she cares for me,

And me to her the same.

Applebloom finished the poem and looked up from the paper. What she saw shocked her..... her sister was in tears. Tears of happiness. Smiling, Applebloom went over and hugged her. "I love you, Applejack."
