Spike groggily opened his eyes and looked around the room. For a second he didn't register where he was sleeping, and why he was not in his normal bed. But then he remembered the events of the previous week. How he had turned into a pony and Twilight Sparkle had legally become his mom. Rolling over and getting out of his new bed, he trotted downstairs. When he reached the bottom of the stairs he smelled the slightest bit of smoke. Running into the kitchen, he saw his mother trying to fan the smoke away with her wings while levitating a cook book and throwing what looked like a frying pan into the sink.

"What the heck did you do mom?!" Spike yelled at her.

"I was trying to fix you breakfast for your first day of school but while I was reading the cookbook it started to burn and I kinda freaked out" Twilight replied.

"Well it looks like I'll have to eat cereal again" Spike answered going over to the pantry. Then he did as Twilight had taught him and channeled his magic towards the box and willed it to come down to him. After a few feeble attempts it levitated down to him and set down on the table.

"Well down Spike" Twilight praised him "I only started teaching you magic four days ago and you can already levitate. Im impressed.".

Spike just nodded his head and began to eat his cereal. He watched as his mom sat across from him and levitated an apple and began to eat it as she read through the cookbook. When he finished he levitated his bowl and spoon into the sink and walked into the main room of the library. He looked at the clock and saw he only had 5 minutes until he had to leave for his first day of school. Quickly he searched the room until he found his bag that his mom had given him for school. Putting it on he was about to run out the door when he heard twilight call after him.

"Remember, Spike what's your name?" Twilight asked him.

"It's Scribbler. Im a exchange student from Canterlot and Im staying with you until I go back" Spike replied. It had not been his or his mom's idea to pretend that him as a dragon was in Canterlot and that he was not himself. It had been Celestia's idea. That they would let Spike get use to life as a pony. He did not like the idea but he figured Celestia knew best.

"Ok Spike, have a good day at school" Twilight called as he ran out the door.

Once the library was out of sight did Spike slow down to a trot. Emotions swirled around in his head as he continued his journey towards the school house. He was excited, it was his first time ever really going to a school to be a student. Twilight had taught him different things but he never really got to learn with others. But like anypony would be he was nervous about school. Would he make friends? Would he fit in enough to reveal who he was? Would he do well? All these questions whirled around in his mind as he continued his walk.

When he reached the schoolyard he surveyed the scene. He saw fillies and colts running around, playing games and talking to each other hoping to finish their weekend stories before the bell rung. Spike noted the crusaders over by the swings looking perplexed. He figured they must be thinking of ways to get their cutie marks. Spike wondered as he approached the door to the school if he could earn a cutie mark. But his thoughts were interrupted when he walked in and her a voice behind him.

"Hello Spike, Im sure your excited about your first day of school"

Spike whirled around to see Ms. Cheerilee behind him. "What how did you kno- wait no Im not Spike, Im Scribbler" Spike responded hastily.

"No need for that Spike" Cheerilee answered "Twilight informed me of your um change and how your trying to integrate. But no worries I will address you to the class as Scribbler. They should be coming in soon. I'll have you introduce yourself to them".

Spike nodded in response right as the bell rung. Spike watched as his new classmates filed in and sat in their designated seats. Cheerilee called for their attention and their eyes drifted towards the newcomer. Spike felt a bit put in the spotlight as they all stared at him but decided not to let it get to him.

"Now students we have a new student here today" Cheerilee announced as if they didn't already know "Lets let him tell us a bit about himself.".

"Well" Spike began "My name is Scribbler. Im from Canterlot and while I'm here I'm staying with Twilight Sparkle. And umm I like history." Spike told the class. The thing about history was most likely a lie. That was the main thing his mom had taught him and the main thing he liked learning other then magic.

"Ok, Thank you Scribbler. You can sit down in the empty seat behind Sweetie Belle." Cheerilee said "Now lets start working on our math facts.".

Spike walked towards the desk and sat down. He was between Diamond Tiara and Dinky, with Sweetie Belle in front of him and Featherweight behind him. Seating down he turned his attention to the board and focused as Cheerilee wrote up on the board simple multiplication problems. Spike listened as Cheerilee explained to the class how to do these problems. Spike, already knowing how to do them, let his mind drift off as he thought about all his questions. Why where they learning multiplication now? He had learned how to do this three years ago. He could do more difficult equations and he was stuck learning simple multiplication.

"Well I see our new student has become bored with my lesson" Cheerilee said "Would you like to tell me and the class why Mr. Scribbler".

When Spike realized she was talking to him, he felt immediate dread. "Umm well you see Miss. Cheerilee, I already know this, I can do advanced multiplication." Spike responded.

"Really then would you care to tell me what 136 times 45 is" Ms. Cheerilee demanded.

Doing the math in his head Spike answered "Six thousand, one hundred and twenty".

"That is correct" Cheerilee answered "Good job Scribbler, but I still expect you to pay attention". Returning to her lesson she continued to talk. Spike turned his attention back to the boring lesson until he felt something hit him on the side of the head. He looked over at Diamond Tiara and she cast him a smirk and pointed at the paper. Grumbling, Spike turned his attention to the paper and opened it, inside it read 'You smart new colt. At lunch come see me at my table'. Spike turned to Diamond expecting answers to only see her turned towards her friend Silver Spoon. Deciding he might as well see what she wanted he decided to go see her at lunch.

Spike say quietly and payed attention through the rest of math, science (astronomy, that he caught up easily), and history (The Griffon wars of 3451-3709, he already knew about it. But he still had to continue with that section) before lunch finally came. Spike simply got up, and got his lunch out of his bag and walked outside. He looked around for an open table and saw Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon waving him over. He trotted up cautiously and sat down across from them.

"Hello Scribbler right" Diamond Tiara asked.

"Yeah" Spike answered.

"Well since your new I thought we could talk"

"About what?"

"Oh many things like, your staying with the Princess"

"Yeah, but don't expect any favors"

"Oh she went out of style awhile ago. I mean if she was a real Princess she would like in a castle."

"Yeah sure" Spike said trying to keep his voice leveled.

"Yeah and so what's your cutie mark"

"I don't have one yet"

"Oh.... well that's to bad"

"So let me guess you don't want to continue talking to me?"

"Oh your funny, why in Equestria would I do that"

"Oh no reason"

"I want you to be our friend."

"Oh well thanks Diamond"

"No problem. We'll tell you the rules tomorrow". Silver Spoon nodded her head at Diamonds Tiara proposition.

Spike just opened his lunch and ate quietly as Diamond yakked on. He turned around and saw Sweetie. Scootaloo and Applebloom watching him. At seeing him noticing them the turned away and pretended to be in a deep conversation. As he finished his sandwich he heard the bell ring. Throwing away his trash he walked back into the classroom and sat down.

"Now students it's time for silent reading. Get out your books" Cheerilee called as the class walked in. Spike went and looked in his bag fearing that he had not brought a book. But thankfully being the son of the queen of books, he found one in his bag. Taking it out he began to read when heard someone whispered to him.

"Pst, pst, pst"

Turning to his left he saw Dinky trying to get his attention "What?" Spike whispered to her.

"It's not a good idea to become friends with Diamond Tiara if your a blank flank" Dinky whispered.

"I know what im doing. She doesn't seem that bad'

"You'd be surprised" Dinky whispered and turned back to her book. Spike looked at the cover "Time Travel: Could It Be Real?".
Shaking his head he turned back to his book wondering why the heck would she be reading a book like that.

The rest of the day passed in a blur, all that was left was art anyway. Spike had to admit though art was not going to be his strong point. His painting of a flower looked more like a blob of yellow and green. As he packed up and put on his bag he heard to pony calling him. He turned around Diamond Tiara and Sweetie Belle calling for him. He didn't know exactly who to go to. So he just pretended he had not heard either and left. But he and The Crusaders had the same route home. So he ran into them. anyway.

"Hey new kid" Scootaloo called.

"His name is Scribbler dingleberry" said Sweetie Belle.

"Don't you two start" Applebloom said.

"Hello" Spike answered them.

"We just wanted to welcome you to school and give you a warning" Scootaloo said.

"Stay away for Diamond Tiara, she's a royal pain in the butt" Applebloom said.

"Especially since your a blank flank like us" Sweetie Belle said.

"Umm ok but I don't need a war-" Spike began before he was cut off.

"Wait Sweetie you knew he was a blank flank and you didn't tell us" Scootaloo said.

"Well it's obvious isn't it Sweetie" Applebloom said.

Before they could question him further Spike ran towards home. He opened the door and closed it behind him. He noticed Twilight levitating numerous books around her with a perplex look on her face. Deciding it was best to leave her alone Spike headed towards the kitchen and started his homework.

Just as he was finishing up his conclusion on the Griffon general's tactics for the war of Clousdale did his mom walk in.

"How was your first day of school dear" Twilight asked walking over to the pantry.

"Fine, it was easier then expected" he replied.

"Really why?" Twilight asked levitating numerous objects and food around her.

"Well half of it you had already taught me. I think I made some new friends too"

"Really who Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo and Applebloom. Right?"

"No, im kinda already friends with them"

"Not really, so um Dinky then?"

"No she's weird"

"Why do you say that?"

"Well with parents like her's what would you expect"

"Derpy and Doctor Whooves are nice ponys"

"Yeah sure anyway, it's Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon"

"Really are you sure Rarity and Applejack said that they seem to tease Sweetie Belle and Applebloom"

"I didn't see them do that today"

"Well whatever you say Spike" Twilight said placing the soup she had been making on the table. Sitting down they ate dinner.

"So how was it" Twilight asked hopefully.

"You went a bit overboard on the flavor, But you didn't burn it" Spike responded.

"Ha ha ha. Your hilarious. Now go get ready for bed."

"Fine" Spike said getting up from the table and heading upstairs.

As he laid in bed after Twilight had turned of the lights, he stared at the ceiling, wondering was it really a good choice to become friends with Diamond Tiara. But before he could decided an answer sleep came along with Luna's dreams.
