The Dragon Quest

It was almost midnight in Equestria, and Twilight Sparkle had just put down the book she was studying. She stretched and glanced at the clock. Her eyes widened when she saw the time. “Wow, I guess I lost track of time.” She chuckled, before yawning hugely. “Damn, I’m beat, Its time to go to bed.” She got up from her chair and stumbled towards her bed. She lay down in its warm, comfortable embrace, but right before she could fall asleep,

“Twilight!!!!” Her Draconic assistant Spike burst through the door, a scroll clutched in his claws. Twilight groaned and sat up.

“What is it Spike?” Twilight was not pleased about her sleep being interrupted. “I swear, if this is not of monumental importance…”

“Princess Celestia sent you a letter!!” Spike said slightly franticly. Twilight’s eyes widened. Princess Celestia would not send her a letter so late at night, unless it was of extreme importance. Spike knew this as well, that was why he was panicking.

“Give me the letter!” Spike ran over to the side of her bed and gave her the scroll. Twilight opened it with her magic and read aloud.

Dear, Twilight Sparkle,

You know very well that I would not be sending this letter unless it was of colossal importance. A strange energy signature has appeared in the Everfree forest, one that I have not felt for thousands of years. I fear that whoever wields this energy signature means to do Equestria and her citizens harm. I need you and the elements to find the wielder, and if necessary, stop him/her.

Twilight sat their in bed, dumbstruck for a second, before jumping out of bed. “Spike! Get the elements to meet me by Fluttershy’s cottage!” She yelled to her assistant, who saluted and rushed out of the Books and Branches Library. Twilight raced around the house, looking for anything that might help them. She unlocked a certain cabinet, and pulled out her trusty weapon, Light Warblade. The blade was a purple color, and its grip is formed like a scroll and is colored purple with books painted on it and the guard strongly resembles a hand making a mystic gesture. She put it in a sheath, which she strapped to her hip. She raced out the door, unfurled her wings, and flew towards Fluttershy’s cottage. When she landed, the other Elements were already there, waiting for her.

“What's up sugarcube?” AppleJack, the Element of Honesty asked. She had her weapon, Gleaming Hackblade, on her back. It had a jagged blade, Its grip is of a black wood with bones painted on it in black. The pommel is shaped like a skull with tourmalines for eyes and a aquamarine in its mouth.

“Some strange energy signature that Celestia says might be dangerous.” Twilight explained.

“Well, whatever it is, we’ll stop it!” Rainbow Dash boasted. Her weapon, Shadow Flashblade, swung at her hip. The sword’s guard is lightning bolt-shaped, and the blade had a gold hue to it, and was shaped like an upside down lightning bolt

“What if its nice, will we have to kill it then?” Fluttershy said softly. Her weapon, Water Flashblade, which was a sister sword to the Shadow Flashblade, was strapped to her hip. The swords guard was shaped like a butterfly, and the brilliant blue blade rippled like water,

“We will only stop it if it needs stopping, darling.” Rarity said eloquently. Her weapon, Razor Blade, swung at her hip. It had a jagged blade with a purple hue to it, it’s guard was arc-shaped and its grip is of a white metal set with onyxes,

“OH OH OH! If its not evil, can I throw it a party?!” Pinkie exclaimed. Her weapon, Blazing Epee, swung at her hip. The sword had an irregular blade of a pink color, with balloons and cakes engraved on it. It’s guard strongly resembles a claw which clutches the wielder's hand protectively. Its grip is of a copper metal with a pattern made of balloons painted on it in many colors,

“Ok, is everypony ready?” Twilight asked. “Alright, lets go!” She said when everypony nodded. They drew their blades and walked into the Everfree, ready to find what ever was creating the Energy Signature. They weren't looking for long before they heard a very faint noise.

“What is that?” Rainbow Dash asked. They were all accustomed to hearing very low noises, thanks to Fluttershy.

“I don't know, but it sounds like it’s coming from over here.” Twilight said, walking off the trail. The rest of the mane six followed her, and the noise seems to be getting louder.

“I recognize that sound!! That’s a foal crying!!” Pinkie exclaimed. The rest of the mares looked at her in shock.

“A foal, Pinkie Darling? What would a foal be doing out here in the Everfree forest?” Rarity asked in shock.

“I dunno, but I’ve looked after Pound and Pumpkin Cake enough to know when I hear that noise, it means a foal is crying!” Pinkie said.

“The energy signature is coming from the same Direction as the foal, we have to hurry!” Twilight yelled. The Elements of Harmony rushed towards the signature, and the crying. They came upon a clearing, and recoiled in shock. There was a black mare kneeling over a little baby foal, of the same color. She had a unicorn horn, but their was something, off, about her, but they couldn't tell what.

“We need to stop her!” AppleJack whispered. The rest of the mane six nodded, and strode into the clearing. The strange mare stiffened, stood up, and turned around. The strange mare’s mouth curled into a slight smirk when she saw the Mane Six eyes widen when they saw her slitted eyes, which were also blood red.

“So, Celestia has sent her cronies to stop me.” A sword, seemingly made of shadows, formed into her hand. “Well then, lets see you try to stop me!” The mare charged at the mane six, forcing them to scatter. Twilight sent a fireball at The mare which exploded around the mare.

“Yeah!!” The mane six cheered, until Pinkie’s Pinkie Sense went off.

“OW OW OW!!! PINCHIE KNEE!!!” Pinkie screamed, hopping around on one leg.

“Muhahahahahaha…” An ominous chuckle emanated from the inferno, causing the Mane Six to shiver. The Mare stepped out of the fire, completely unharmed. “Did you really think that could stop me?” Something started to unfurl out of her back. The Mane Six recoiled when they saw they were wings, but not normal wings, they were draconic wings. “I am a Draconicorn!!! I am immune to fire!!!” She shouted, before flying into the air. Twilight, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash took to the sky after her. Rainbow dashed at the Draconicorn, sword raised. Their swords met with a resounding *CLANG*. Rainbow was pushed back by the force of the blow, and started falling towards the ground, unconscious.

“RAINBOW!!!” Fluttershy screamed. She flew towards the prone figure of Rainbow Dash. Twilight looked from Fluttershy to the Draconicorn, whose smirk grew slightly larger. Twilight gulped, before setting her face in a determined expression and raising her sword. The Draconicorn’s smirk grew into a larger grin. The Draconicorn flew at Twilight, her shadow sword  raised. Twilight raised her sword at the last moment, blocking the blow.

“GAH!” Twilight yelled through gritted teeth. The blow felt like someone smashed a train into her block.

“Stings a little, don't it?” The Draconicorn mocked Twilight. Twilight growled at her in response. Twilight’s mind was racing. She blocked another blow from the Draconicorn’s blade. What could she do? She could sense that the Draconicorn’s strength was being enhanced by her magic, but the only way that she could stop that was to…

Twilight decided she had no choice, and she withdrew from the clash of blades, and circled for a moment, waiting for her opportunity to strike. The Draconicorn snarled and flew towards her. Twilight’s moment had come, and she teleported right before The Draconicorn struck her. The Draconicorn looked wildly around, looking for where Twilight had gone.

“Looking for me?” Said a voice from behind her. The Draconicorn whipped around and saw Twilight right there. The Draconicorn felt a hand on her horn. Twilight looked at her with a sorrowful look, then said, “Forgive me.” Twilight broke the Draconicorn’s horn off with one mighty twist of her wrist. The Draconicorn screamed in agony, falling to the ground. Twilight floated in the air for a moment, her large and graceful wings steadily beating. She floated to the ground, where the rest of the mane six was standing there in shock. Twilight released the breath she didn't realise she was holding. Rarity was the first to speak.

“T-twilight, did you really do that?” She stammered. Twilight didn't answer, for she was still staring at the Draconicorn, who was still writhing in agony. “T-twilight?” Rarity slowly walked towards Twilight, who was still staring unblinkingly. Rarity shook her hand in front of Twilight’s face. Twilight jumped backwards and shook her head. She looked away from Rarity. “Twilight? Twilight look at me.” Rarity said, putting her hand on Twilight’s shoulder. Twilight slowly turned around and looked at Rarity, tears in her eyes. Twilight threw her arms around Rarity and sobbed. Rarity was shocked at first, then relaxed and returned the hug. Both the Unicorn and the Alicorn knew what it was like to have your magic taken away from you. It was like, a whole piece of you was missing.

“What’s the big deal? You destroyed her horn, she’s in pain, so what?” Rainbow Dash said, having woken up.

“What's the big deal? WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL!?!?!?!?” Twilight shouted, making everybody wince. “Imagine yourself without your wings Rainbow, what would you do then?!” Rainbow winced, then Twilight continued, “That is what its like for you to take a Unicorn’s magic away.” Rainbow was about to speak, but before she could…

“How dare you!” Everyone whipped around to see the Draconicorn getting up. “You dare destroy the horn of the Draconicorn Queen!!!” She roared. Smoke was coming out of her nostrils. “This pathetic country shall burn!!!” She breathed fire out of her mouth, right at the mane six. Twilight and Rarity threw up a barrier, blocking the fire.

“Rarity! I can hold up the barrier, get the others out of here NOW!!!” Twilight yelled at her. Rarity looked like she was about to say no, but the look Twilight was giving her made her think otherwise. She grabbed the others and Teleported them outside the Everfree forest. Rarity fell to a knee, she wasn’t used to teleporting that many ponies at once.

“We have to get back! We can’t leave Twilight there by herself!” Rainbow shouted at Rarity. Rarity was about to respond, but a bright flash of light interrupted her. Twilight appeared in that flash of light.

“TWILIGHT!! Your ok!!” The rest of the mane six shouted.

“SHHH!” Twilight shhh’d them. They looked at her confusedly. “You woke him.” She brought the little foal that was in the clearing in front of her body with her aura. He had pitch black fur, a red and black mohawk, red and black tail, and red, slitted eyes. He looked up at them and smiled, revealing little fangs. He hiccuped, and a little flame came out of his mouth. Black Draconic wings extended out from his back.

“What are you going to do to him?” Rarity asked Twilight.

“I’m going to raise him, teach him right from wrong.” Twilight said, smiling at the Draconicorn.

“OH OH OH, what are you going to call him?!” Pinkie blubbered.

“I’m going to call him, Fanged Ember. Come on girls, lets go home.” They all started the long walk back to ponyville, contemplating what had happened.
