//-------------------------------------------------------// Pokémon: Equestria -by RaChimera- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Poké Surprise //-------------------------------------------------------// The Poké Surprise Pokémon. Also known by their full name as Pocket Monsters, the Pokémon are a unique and large race of creatures that soar through the skies, run across the plains, and swim deep in the oceans. Pokémon come in many forms and types as well. Ponies have been alongside Pokémon for thousands of years and they’ve worked together ever since the Royal Sisters, Luna and Celestia, tamed the very first Pokémon. The two races have been friends, companions, and allies during Pokémon battles. Now, here’s the story of a young colt as his Pokemon journey begins. The city of Canterlot. Home of the Royal Sisters and to many types of Pokémon. One of the many ponies who live in this city is Silver Star. She’s a unicorn mare who has a silvery fur with a moon white mane and tail. Her eyes were a shade of cerulean and her cutie mark was a silvery star. She wasn’t much of a Pokémon trainer, unlike her husband who vanished a few years ago. The stallion was considered one of the best Pokémon trainers of the modern times and was rumored to have been able to nearly beat the Elite Four. He was not only an expert Grass Trainer but also knew nearly every Pokemon in all of Equestria. But yet, when he made it to the final member of the Elite Four, he lost and then.. vanished into thin air. But after he vanished from existence, Silver Star made sure to do her hardest to make her son happy. Her son was Lucky Ball and he was a colt who loved Pokémon to death. Ever since he was little and saw his first Pokémon, his father’s Scyther, something within him stirred and he suddenly felt more eager than ever to start training. He didn’t just want to beat the best….. he wanted to be the best. And ever since, he’s studied in books, went to battles, and has asked trainers questions to learn what he can about these creatures. And many years later, the colt was laying in his bed, a stuffed Pikachu toy between his arms, as he slept like a little baby, dreaming about the one thing he’s always wanted to do. Him winning the title of Pokémon Master. He stood there, in the arena of Canterlot, a broad smile on his face as he watched the ponies in the crowd cheer. They tossed roses at his hooves and even asked them for autographs. He smiled even grew more when he heard the massive crowd cheer his name. “LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY!” They would cheer to the top of their lungs. He would be holding a Poké Ball in his hand as he stared out into the stands. “LUCKY, LUCKY LUCKY!” Now the crowd started to sound demanding which confused him a little bit. Then he realised he had heard that sound before. Suddenly, the ground beneath him vanished, causing him to fall into darkness and scream the whole way down. But somewhere in the fell, he noticed something. He noticed a pair of glowing blue eyes. But soon, he felt the area around him vanish and soon his own eyes opened, revealing his “Mom?!” “Yes dear it’s me. You slept in a little late again.” She told him with a small smile on her face. Lucky just wanted to vanish right on the spot due to the embarrassing red spots on his cheeks. “You woke me up in an awesome dream mom! I just won the title of Pokémon Master and everypony in Equestria was cheering my name! I was about to show them the team when you woke me up!” He said angrily, causing his mom to giggle. “You and Pokémon. Still, it’s no reason to sleep in today. Get dressed and come downstairs. I have a little surprise for you.” His mom said as she headed towards his door. “What’s the surprise?” He asked. “If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore.” She replied as she headed out of his room. Lucky simply sighed as he got out of his bed and headed to his dresser. He looked in the mirror and saw he was a major mess. It was like a Pidgeotto used Gust on him. His fur was silvery grey like his mom but he had his father’s mane and tail, smoky black and spiky. His eyes shined a gleaming green. He didn’t have his cutie mark yet but he didn’t seem to care. What he cared about was getting his looks in order. He went into the bathroom and started to wash his hair a little bit but eventually went with a messy look for his hair that left it spikey. He then went to his closet where he found a red jacket and a black t-shirt in it and pulled them out and laid them down on his bed while he searched for the rest of his attire. It took him a few hours but he found the rest of his outfit and slipped them on. All that was missing now was his hat. He went through his closet but didn’t see it anywhere. “Now where did I put it?” He thought as he stared at his room which seemed like a typhoon blew through it. A desk sat in the corner with a black computer, stacks of books about Pokémon sat everywhere, and his old clothes were scattered everywhere. I guess mom’s right about catching up on my chores. He thought as he sighed. He digged through them and finally saw his hat. It was a ballcap that was red and black with a green symbol in the center of it. “Got’cha.” He said happily as he picked it up and placed it on. He headed downstairs, via riding the rails with his flank, and soon found himself in the living room. He looked around and saw his mom in the kitchen. “Mom I’m-” Lucky started. But was soon met with a big hug from his mother. “Um… what’s this?” He asked her. “Oh… I don’t know. Maybe it’s because it’s a very special day for you.” She replied, causing him to give her a confused look. “What’s the special day?” He asked. “Well… it only happens once a year, there’s been nine of them before, and it’s just for you.” She riddled. Lucky’s eyes slowly showed a light meaning he understood what the riddle meant. “My birthday?!” He said excitedly as he started to hop slightly as he saw his mom nod. “Happy Birthday Lucky.” She said as she kissed him on the head. He forgot that today would be his tenth birthday and Lucky was super excited for one reason. “Mom, since today is my tenth birthday, could I possibly… get my very own Pokémon?” He asked, causing him mom to sigh. “Lucky, hang on, I want to give you something.” His mother said as she went into the other room. But when she came back, she had a piece of paper in her hand and it seemed to have wrapped something. “What’s that?” Lucky asked as he took the paper and began to open it. He soon felt his jaw drop as he pulled out a red, white, and black looking ball. A ball that he was all too familiar. “I-is this a-” “It is Lucky. I hope you like the little Pokémon I chose for you.” His mom said sweetly. Slowly, he neared his thumb to the button in the center of the Poké Ball. When his thumb pressed it, it popped open and a white light shot out and struck the floor. It soon took a shape and when it was fully formed and the light died down, Lucky couldn’t believe the Pokémon. It was a small, quadrupedal Pokémon with bluish green skin and dark patches. It had thick legs that ended in three digit claws. Its eyes had red irises while the sclera and pupils were white. Two fangs jutted from its upper jaw and it had two pointed ears. From its back grew out a large bulb. The Pokémon was a starter for new trainers and Lucky knew this one like the back of his hand. “It’s… Bulbasaur!” He said happily as he stared at the little guy. The small creature looked up at him and said “Bulba!” “Wow mom! This is awesome!” He said as he leaned down and petted the Bulbasaur, causing it to give off what was a purr. “I figured you would like him Lucky.” She said as she saw the plant-creature started licking her son. “BULBA!” “This is unbearably cool mom!” Lucky said as he rubbed Bulbasaur’s head some more. The creature responded by bringing out two vine-like tentacles and started to tickle him. “H-H-Hey! Stop it that t-t-t-tickles! HAHAHAHA!” He said as he fell back onto the floor as the two vines tickled him like crazy. Silver smiled and giggled as she reached into her back pocket, pulling out a small, red mechanical device. Lucky stopped laughing when he saw the object and got up, Bulbasaur stopped tickling him in the process. He stared at the object for a minute before gently placing it in his own hands. “A… Pokédex?” He asked her. “Your father left it for you. I had the data in it erased just for you so you can collect Pokémon data yourself. I knew that one day you’d follow your father and I had to be ready. So I bought you the Bulbasaur and had the Pokédex ready for years.” She replied as a single tear dripped down her cheek. Lucky smiled as he hugged his mother. “I love you so much mom.” He said as a tear fell from his eye. “Y-your father would be so proud of you.” His mom said as Bulbasaur wrapped itself around them with its vines. “Well Bulbasaur-” Lucky started as he leaned down to the small Pokémon. “Are you ready to go on an adventure with me?” He asked. “Bulba! Bulbasaur!” It replied in an excited voice. “Alright. Bulbasaur, would you prefer to travel outside of your Pokéball and walk around with me?” Lucky asked. It looked at the pony that was it’s owner and the small little ball that it disappeared into sometimes. It whipped out a vine and smacked the ball out of Lucky’s hand. “YYYEEEEOOOOWWWW!” //-------------------------------------------------------// The Very First Battle //-------------------------------------------------------// The Very First Battle Today was one of the very best days in Lucky Ball’s life. First, today was his birthday and second, his journey to become a Pokémon Master was starting. His mother had bought him Bulbasaur, his very first Pokémon, gave him a Pokédex, along with some potions, some Poké Balls and a map, and allowed him to leave to start his adventure. Right now, the colt was just outside of Canterlot with his little companion at his side as the two looked for any wild Pokémon. “Do you see any Bulbasaur?” He asked his Pokémon who snorted a little. “Bulba.” It replied indicating that it didn’t know where any wild ones were nor did it see any. Lucky simply sighed. “Keep an eye out buddy. You don’t know if one could be watching us right about now.” Lucky said to the small Pokémon, who simply brought out his vines. The colt couldn’t help but smile at how obedient Bulbasaur was. But he wasn’t going to count him like a housepet. Then as they walked into tall grass, the two saw what was their first wild Pokémon. It was a small rodent Pokémon that was easily spotted by the large buck teeth in its mouth. It had purple fur on its back and cream fur on its stomach. Its tail was curled and it had small whiskers. It had bright red eyes and large ears. Lucky, after studying all those years, knew this one’s name. “A Rattata!” He shouted happily as he pulled out his Pokédex which flipped open as the screen lit up and scanned it. Rattata The Mouse Pokemon Height: 1’00” Weight: 7.7 lbs. A Forest Pokémon, Rattata. It likes cheese, nuts, fruits, and berries. It also comes out into open fields to steal food from travelers. Lucky was stunned to see a real life Rattata. But this was also his chance to capture it and add it to his team. “Okay Bulbasaur go-” “Charmander use Flamethrower!” A new voice called out as a big orange flame blasted the Rattata. “WHAT THE-” Lucky said before another pony appeared with a Charmander by his side. “Go Poké Ball!” The pony shouted as he tossed a familiar device at the Rattata, causing it to be touched by a red light and go into it. Please break out, please break out! Lucky prayed in his mind as he watched the Pokéball shake. But to his demise, the ball stopped shaking and the Rattata was caught. “Awesome! I’ve got it!” The pony shouted happily as he picked up the ball and placed it on his belt. As he did this, Lucky decided to get some info on the Pokémon next to him. Charmander The Lizard Pokémon Height: 2’00” Weight: 18.7 lbs. Charmander. A flame burns on the tip of its tail from birth. It is said that a Charmander dies if its flame ever goes out. “Okay… so who the hay are you exactly?” Lucky asked the new pony. The new pony was a pegasus colt with black fur and a murky gray mane and tail. His eyes were a shade of purple and he was wearing a simple blue sweater with tan skinny jeans. “Oops. Was that your Rattata? My bad dude. Name’s Black Jack.” He said as he held out a hand to Lucky who just stared at him. “So how long have you been training?” Black Jack asked Lucky, lowering his hand after Lucky refused to shake it. “Not too long. I just got my Bulbasaur today.” Lucky said blankly as he saw his Pokémon growl at Charmander. “Whoa. I guess your Pokémon doesn’t like mine.” Black Jack said as he picked up his Charmander. “I don’t see why. But since we’re two trainers, wanna have a battle?” Lucky asked. “You serious?” “When two trainers’ eyes meet, they have to battle it out. Pokémon rules.” Lucky said, causing Black Jack to grin. “Alright. I was hoping to have my first trainer battle today. Ready Charmander?” “CHAR!” “Bulbasaur, ready for your first battle?” “Bulba! Bulbasaur!” “Okay then buddy let's do this!” Lucky said happily as he watched Charmander leap onto the ground from Black Jack’s grasp. For a moment the two trainers’ eyes met they seemed to be waiting…. waiting for which one made the first move. “Bulbasaur, Tackle attack!” Lucky said to his Pokémon, who ran at full speed towards the Charmander and slammed into it, causing it to skid backwards. “Charmander use Scratch!” Black Jack ordered as Charmander regained his footing. The Pokémon nodded and raised its claw and sliced the little Bulbasaur. “Bulbasaur use Vine Whip!” Lucky yelled. “BULBA!” It shouted as its two vines emerged and slapped Charmander, who simply back up with the two slaps. “Charmander, Ember!” Black Jack ordered. With a quick breath, the little lizard spat out a small flame which struck the Pokémon, causing it to shriek in pain as it fell to the ground. “BULBASAUR!” Lucky shouted. “You must be a rookie if you don’t know that Fire-Type Pokémon are strong against Grass-Types.” Black Jack said as he watched the small creature. “Bulbasaur, are you alright buddy?” Lucky asked him in a worried voice. “B-Bulba.” The Pokémon said quietly. “You kidding me? That little guy still has some fight in him? I’m impressed…. somewhat.” Black Jack said in a slightly amused voice. “Bulbasaur are known for having strong wills for a fight. Bulbasaur, Sleeping Powder!” Lucky said to which the Pokémon smiled slighty. Suddenly, out of his bulb, Bulbasaur shot out a green dust that smothered Charmander. Soon after the dust covered him, the little lizard fell asleep. “CHARMANDER! GET YOUR LAZY BUTT UP AND USE FLAMETHROWER!” Black Jack roared. The little lizard still snored a little bit before a small burst of flame came from his mouth. “DODGE IT QUICK!” Lucky shouted to his little friend. Bulbasaur did as it was told and rolled out of the flame’s way. “Sweet! Now, use Tackle!” Lucky shouted. The Pokémon ran as fast as it could and slammed into Charmander. “THAT’S CHEATING!” Black Jack shouted. “No it isn’t. Bulbasaur, use Razor Leaf!” Lucky said. Bulbasaur then shot out from its bulb many leaves that struck Charmander like shurikens. Charmander winced a little as they hit him. “Okay just a little more now-” “CHAR!” Charmander said as his eyes suddenly opened.up. He growled a little before he released a big torrent of flames that hit Bulbasaur dead on. Bulbasaur flew back and landed on his belly with a groan meaning one thing. He was beaten. “Ah nuts!” Lucky said angrily. “Alright Charmander! Now, return!” Black Jack said as he held up a Poké Ball in which opened, absorbing Charmander in a red light before going back into the ball. “You were good dude.” Lucky said as he held out a hand. “Tch what did you expect? Me to be a pushover?” Black Jack smirked before he turned around and walked off. When he was gone, Lucky picked up Bulbasaur and began back to Canterlot to get his friend healed. As he walked back, he noticed something in the sky above. It was a flash but he swore he saw a purple… tail connected to a lighter purple body. He simply shrugged as he continued to walk. But then, he began to wonder to himself if that thing was what he thought it was. //-------------------------------------------------------// Sweetie Belle & First Trainer Victory //-------------------------------------------------------// Sweetie Belle & First Trainer Victory After returning to the Pokémon Center and getting Bulbasaur fully healed, Lucky went back into the grass fields to try his luck. After a few minutes of searching, he caught a wild Pokémon that was known as Pidgey, a Pokémon that resembles a bird.  And after some wild Pokémon battles, he managed to get Pidgey to a higher level along with Bulbasaur who’s now LVL 8. Right now, Lucky and Bulbasaur were walking down a dirt path and looked to see if they could find any Pokémon trainers or possibly some items. “Hey Bulbasaur are you okay?” He asked his Pokémon as it did look a little frustrated. The only response he got was a angry sounding “Bulba.” “What’s wrong?” “Bulba Bulbasaur! Bulbasaur Bulba!” It ranted. “Oh. You’re still mad about losing to Charmander?” Lucky asked. Bulbasaur nodded as he growled. “Bulbasaur, don’t worry. We’ll have victories and losses during our journey. But we’ll become the best team in history and there’s no stopping that.” Lucky said to his Pokémon, making it give off a small smile. “Bulba.” “That’s the spirit. So how about we take a-” “BULBA!” His Pokémon interrupted as he stopped and stared forward. Lucky looked forward and saw a little filly playing with a Pokémon that had a skull on it’s head. “Whoa t-that’s a Cubone.” He said as he pulled out his Pokédex. Cubone The Lonely Pokémon Height: 1’04” Weight: 14.3 lbs. A Ground-type Pokémon, Cubone. Cubone has earned its classification as the Lonely Pokémon from its usual attitude of caring only for itself. He was amazed to see a Cubone here but he was even more surprised by its trainer. It was a unicorn with cream white fur and a curly mane and tail that was purple and pink. Her eyes were a shade of misty green and she was wearing a light purple shirt with white shorts. He felt a sensation come over him that came when Black Jack and him fought. “Bulbasaur, do you feel up for another battle?” He asked his Pokémon who smirked. “Bulbasaur!” “Alright. Well, let’s go.” He said as he slowly walked towards the filly with Bulbasaur right next to him. The filly didn’t appear to see both of them walking towards her as she played with the Cubone as though it was a Groudon. “C’mon Cubone catch!” She shouted as she tossed a small bone towards it and the Pokémon responded by jumping up and grabbed the bone. “CUBONE!” It shouted as the Pokémon landed. The Cubone then turned it’s attention towards Lucky. “Oh I know there’s someone there. What did you think I was blind?” She asked him. “Whoa. I’m sorry but… me and Bulbasaur couldn’t help but notice you two playing together.” Lucky explained as he pointed down to his friend. When the filly laid her eyes on Bulbasaur, she let out an ‘awwwwwwwe’ and ran up to the little Pokémon, knocking Lucky down in the process. “Okay I wasn’t expecting that.” Lucky said to himself as he picked himself back up. He noticed that the filly was hugging the life out of his Bulbasaur as it tried to break free. “BULBA!” It shouted as it tried to wriggle free. “Aww. Who’s the cute wittle Pokémon? You are. Yes you-” “Um… could you let go of my Pokémon please?” Lucky interrupted and gaining her attention. “Oops. Sorry.” She said as she let the small Pokémon out of her grip, allowing him to run to Lucky. “I’m really sorry about that. I just get like that whenever I see a cute Pokémon. Oh.. I haven’t said who I am yet. I’m Sweetie Belle and this is my partner Cubone.” The filly said as she pointed to her small friend who just raised its bone club. “Cu.” “How did you even get a Cubone? They usually live in rocky areas.” Lucky asked, legitimately confused as to how she came to possess the Pokémon despite being far away from any rocky area. “Oh… don’t tell my sister but I do sneak up there sometimes. I found some really cool Pokémon up there.” She explained. Lucky just smiled as he looked at the Pokémon. “Don’t worry. If I ever meet your sister, your secret is safe with me. So what are you and Cubone doing out near Canterlot?” “Well since I’m a Pokémon trainer, I usually go out looking for Pokémon whenever I’m not in school. And I heard that Canterlot had some unique Pokémon around, I thought I’d come see what I could find. But.. so far I’ve found nothing.” She told him. “Well… since you have a Pokémon and so do I… wanna have a battle?” He asked. The filly’s eyes lit up with excitement “I would love to! I’m warning you I’m not gonna hold back though.” She told him with a smile on her face. Lucky smiled a little bit as well. The two backed away, making enough room for the battle zone. “Okay then. Go Bulbasaur!” He shouted. His Pokémon leaped and smiled as it prepared to battle. “Bulba!” “Alright. Cubone this’ll be our official trainer battle. Let’s give it our all and hope we can win.” Sweetie said as her Cubone ran onto the field. “Alright. Mares first.” Lucky said. “Why thank you. Cubone, Bone Club!” Sweetie said. Cubone raised the club shaped bone in its hand and charged Bulbasaur. “Dodge it pal!” Lucky shouted, making the Grass-type Pokémon leap to the side. “Now Vine Whip!” “Bulba!” Bulbasaur grunted as he allowed two snake like vines to come out and rush towards Cubone. “Cubone use Bonemerang!” Sweetie shouted. Cubone nodded and threw the club with surprising accuracy. The bone swatted the vines back and then smacked Bulbasaur in the head, making it grunt in pain. “Bulbasaur!” Lucky shouted as his Pokémon rubbed the bump on his head. The bone then flew back to Cubone as it landed in his hand. “Nice shot Cubone. Now let’s hit him with a headbutt!” Just as she said that, Cubone lowered its head and charged. “Come on Bulbasaur Razor Leaf!” Lucky shouted and The Grass-Type Pokémon complied as it shot out several shuriken like leaves that hit Cubone. “Nice Bulbasaur, now lets-” “Cubone, Dig!” Sweetie shouted. To Lucky’s surprise, the small Ground-Type Pokémon dug into the ground and was gone in a few seconds. “W-What the-” “Dig. It’s a move that’s always effective… except on Flying-Type Pokémon.” Sweetie interrupted with a smile on her face. Lucky groaned for Dig was not a dodgeable move. “Bulbasaur run around and don’t let Cubone find where you are!” Lucky ordered, making Bulbasaur quickly bolt around the battlefield, hoping that Cubone wouldn’t hit him. His hopes were in vain as Cubone soon leaped up from the ground with Bulbasaur in it’s clutches. “No! Not this time! Bulbasaur use Vine Whip.” He shouted. The Grass-Type Pokémon nodded and once more it allowed the snake-like tendrils to hit Cubone. “Alright. Now use your Sleeping Powder!” Lucky shouted, making the Pokémon puff out a familiar green dust from his bulb. “Sleeping Powder?!” Sweetie squeaked as her Cubone fell asleep where it stood. “Yup! Now Bulbasaur, end this with your Razor Leaf!” Lucky shouted. “Bulbasaur!” The Pokémon shouted as it launched leaves at Cubone that struck him and to Lucky’s surprise, the Ground-Type fell to the ground with a groan meaning “I WON!” “NO!” Sweetie cried out. She ran up to her Pokémon and held it in her arms. “C-Cubone are you okay?” She asked it with tears in her eyes. “C-Cubone.” “Oh thank Celestia.” She said as she hugged him. “Um… sorry about hurting your Pokémon.” Lucky said. “Don’t worry. I have some revives in my bag so she’ll be okay.” “That’s…. SHE?!” “Uh-huh. My Cubone’s a girl. I guess I should’ve told you huh?” She asked. “Well… yeah. But I’m still sorry. So now what’re you going to do?” He asked her. “Um… well if it’s alright, I wanna travel around with you.” She replied. “Well I mean I’m going to some pretty far places so-” “PLEASE!!!!” She begged as she turned on her ultimate weapon. Her eyes grew big and watery as she puffed them out. Lucky knew this trick as he has fallen victim to it many times. He was looking dead on into the glare of the puppy dog eyes. “Well… I can’t… you…. FINE!” He said as he became weak over the eyes but made Sweetie smile. “Yay! I promise you, you won’t forget bringing me along. I can help you with your Pokémon whenever they get hurt, I can tell you some stuff about the Gym Leaders and-” “Please say cook food. I forgot to pack some.” “Um…. about that… I can’t cook worth a Grimer.” “NNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!”
