New pony in Ponyville *EDITED*View OnlineNew pony in PonyvilleNew pony in Ponyville *EDITED*New pony in Ponyville *EDITED* I finally made it. Ponyville, a nice place according to some of my friends in Cloudsdale. It took me such a long time to fly here because of all my luggage was weighing me down somewhat. I decided to move to Ponyville for some peace. I landed, and being that I knew nothing of the place, I asked the nearest pony I could; a gray coated pegasus mare with a blonde mane with seven bubbles as her cutie mark. “Hi there, My name is Thunder Roller, I’m new here and I was wondering if you know where I can find and buy a house here?” I asked. I was a pegasus, as is probably obvious, from Cloudsdale with a brown coat and a black mane, my cutie mark a game controller. It was getting late and I needed a place stay for the night or get a house to stay. The blonde pegasus looked over towards me and smiled. “Yeah,” said the gray-coated blonde-maned pegasus with . “You’re gonna want to go to Town Hall, it’s down the street and to the left.” Though I have met many ponies on the move from Cloudsdale to Ponyville, this one mare seemed unique. And not because she has a wall-eyed stare. “Thanks,” I said. “Wait, did you say that you are new here?” she asked. “Yes, I did,” I replied. “ Well,” said the blonde pegasus. “Let me be the first to say welcome to Ponyville. I’m Derpy Hooves by the way, but my friends call me Derpy. So where are you moving from?” she asked. “How did you know I was moving?” I asked. I was kind of surprised that Derpy knew I moved here recently. Derpy then pointed her hoof at the four bags of luggage behind me, and I knew it was obvious from there. “Oh right,” I said, rubbing the back of my head with my right fore hoof. “Well I’m moving here from Cloudsdale.” I then added. “Cloudsdale is cool but it’s too noisy,” she said. Something must have kicked in my mind then because I remembered something; I needed to find somewhere to stay and sleep. “Hey Derpy?” I asked. “Do you know where a hotel is or something close to that? I’m kind of tired from flying all day and it’s getting late.” She looked at me and then my luggage and said, “Yeah, just grab your stuff and follow me.” I grabbed my luggage and started walking with Derpy to somewhere. After a few minutes of walking, we came to stop at a house. It was a quaint little home, with a door that had a muffin-shaped window on it. “Whose place is this?” I asked, wondering why we stopped. “This is my house,” she said. She then added, “You can stay here for the night.” Thanking her for letting me stay, I walked in with my things and set them next to a couch. “So, where do I sleep?” I asked. She pointed to another couch in the living room. “I’ll get you a few blankets and a pillow,” she said as she walked upstairs. “One blanket will be enough I’m sure,” I said. “It gets pretty cold here in Ponyville sometimes,” she replied. “So just take these blankets in case you get cold.” I then thought, ‘she’s got a point there.’ I took the blankets and the pillow and laid them down on the couch. She went back upstairs. And by the way she’s walking on the hardwood floor upstairs, she sounds like she’s ready to hit the hay as well. I got into the makeshift bed and began drifting off to sleep. I woke up to the smell of good food. I thought to myself, ‘What’s that delicious smell?’ I get up with a yawn and and my wings start flapping towards the smell, leaving my muzzle sniffing in the air. When I got to the kitchen I saw Derpy baking something. “What are you making Derpy?” I asked. “I’m making muffin-flavored muffins,” She replied. I stared at her with a confused look. “But don’t muffins taste like muffins already?” I asked. “That’s not what I meant,” she replied. “Come here and look.” I walked over to where the oven is and inside was something that made me even more confused. There were little tiny muffins ON the muffin itself. “How did you-” I stopped myself because I think it’s more complicated to put it into words. “Here, try one,” She says as she hands me a muffin and I take a bite of it. “Mmmmmmmm,” I said aloud. “This is good, Derpy.” I finished the muffin and grabbed my stuff and began to head out to find a house. I then stopped and said, “Thanks letting me stay here Derpy. See you around.” I said. “You’re welcome,” she replied. “And good luck, friend.” ‘Wow,’ I thought. She called me her friend and I barely knew her. With that I headed to Town Hall with a smile on my face. Town Hall was a biggest building in town I'm guessing. When I got there I was greeted by a blue earth pony. This pony was wearing a vest with a name tag that read ‘Crystal’ on it. “Hi there! Is there anything I can help you with today, sir?” she asked. “Yes, I need to buy a house because I just moved here and I need a place to live.” As I say that she begins to look through some files and then says to me, “Ah yes I have three houses for sale right now.” She turned back to a file cabinet and pulled out a map and marked three spots on the map. “Here are the houses that are for sale. Go check them out then come back when you have found the house you want,” She said. “Thank you very much I will be back later today then.” I said as I left the Town Hall and began my trek through town. I reached the first house. It’s near the middle of town and I think that it’s a pretty good house. I thought about buying this house but I still had two houses to look at. So, I headed to the next house. This house looked like a river house on the edge of the Everfree Forest. From what I have heard since I got here a day ago, the Everfree Forest is a dark and mysterious place filled with evil creatures. I also heard, however, that a friendly zebra lives there. I don’t want to live in river house anyway because it’s on the edge of town so this house is a no. And the other house is IN the forest so I wasn’t even going to bother with that house. It was still mid-day so I went to a restaurant to eat. After I was done eating I went back to Town Hall to get the house. Crystal sees me walk in. “Welcome back, did you find a house you like?” I checked back at the map she gave and then said, “Yes, I want the one that is near the middle of town.” “Alright,” she replied. “That will be 1,250 bits.” I checked my saddlebags and found the bits, but I also found that was all the money I had, which meant that I would have to find work to buy a bed. I sighed then gave the bits to the receptionist. She put the bits in a safe, then went into a backroom, then appeared minutes later she came out with a key. “Here is the key to the house. Have a great day!” she then said as I walked out of the Town Hall and look around and decided that since it’ll be few hours until it gets dark, I would go take a walk around town. As it began to get dark I headed to my new house. It was a two story house, so I might have somepony rent the bottom floor to help with rent since I don’t have any money. As I laid down for the night I began to think of what to do to get a job. But sleep took over and so I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
The Time for WorkView OnlineNew pony in PonyvilleThe Time for WorkWhen I woke up it was a nice, peaceful morning. I could hear the birds chirping and the sun was shining. I went to the window and looked outside and saw that most of the town was still sleeping. I walked downstairs to the door and walked outside. ‘It was never this quiet in Cloudsdale,’ I thought to myself. Then I saw somepony walking out of their house. I decided to be a little friendly. “Hello there.” I yelled. The pony looked over to me and saw me. When the pony got closer I could tell she was a mare. She started walking towards me, and I was able to get a good look at her. She had a white coat and a blue mane with neon blue highlights. She was also wearing a pair of purple shades. As for her cutie mark, it was a double note. “I haven’t seen you before. Are you new here?” she asked. I replied, “Yes, I am.” She looked at me for a while and asked me, “Tell me, do you like music?” I gave her a questioning look. “What kind of music?” She grinned then turned around back to her house. “Wait here,” she said. She then continued back to her house, leaving me to think ‘Okay. What just happened?’ About five minutes later she came back out the door with what looked like a big stereo. There were four little speakers on the corners of one big speaker in the middle with a red button on the top of it. She smacked the red button and the big speaker split into three directions. A blue charge filled the middle of the speaker and then it fired a big blue beam at me. I jumped out of the way of the beam. She fired another one and I barely dodged it. ‘Is she trying to kill me?’ I thought to myself in what seemed to be certain doom for me. “Stand still, it wont hurt you. I promise.” She yelled. I sighed, I have trust issues with certain ponies, but I will try and trust her. So I stood still and waited. She fires one more beam a me and I brace for what is coming. When it hit me all I could hear was dubstep, and it was pretty good dubstep. So I embraced the music. When it was over I felt good, she walked up to me and said, “Whoa, you’re the first one to ever withstand the force of my bass cannon. Most ponies just fall over but you, you just stood there not even flinching. Are you ok?” she asked. I started to grin wildly. My head suddenly popped with questions. “Yeah I’m better than okay! that was incredible! I have never experienced music like that before! how did you manage to do that!? And what is that anyway!?” I asked excitedly. She smiled at me, and laughed at all the questions. “It’s a bass cannon. I made it myself.” she said. “Hey listen, sorry I didn’t tell you what I was doing. I should have got you prepared for what was coming.” she said. “By the way, my name is Vinyl Scratch. I’m the town’s DJ. But just call me Vinyl. Here, come by the house later this evening.” she said. “Alright then, I will see you later.” I said. As I wave Vinyl goodbye, I head into town to hopefully find a job or some work to buy a bed. I reach the busy part of town fairly quickly considering that I live near the middle of town. I start looking for ‘help wanted’ signs. Twenty minutes pass by as I look for the sign and then I see one. It’s a flyer for work. It says they need a pony with strong legs… The rest of it was smudged. so I take the flyer to Sweet Apple Acres, which is where the flyer said to go. When I got there, I was greeted by an orange earth pony with a blonde mane and three red apples for cutie mark. “ Howdy sir, is there something you need.” She asked. “ Yes I saw your ‘help wanted’ flyer and wondered what I would be doing for work.” I replied She gave me a puzzled look and takes a look at the flyer. “I didn't make this sign. But I sure could use somepony’s help tomorrow for Applebuck Season though.” I asked, “What’s Applebuck Season?” She looked at me wide-eyed. “How do you not know what Applebuck Season is? … Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you round here before. Are you new to Ponyville?” I wonder how many times I’m gonna be asked that today? “Yes, I actually just moved here. I got here yesterday., bought a house, now with no money left, I was looking for work so I could get some bits and now, here I am." She looks at me with what looked like she was going to burst. “Oh, well then howdy! I’m Applejack, and since you asked; Applebuck Season is time for bucking the apples off of apple trees, and when I said I didn’t make this sign, I meant my friend Pinkie Pie was trying to help out so she put signs all around town asking for help with tommorow.” I look around at the big orchard around me. There must have been thousands of rows of trees and they expected to get all of THAT done tomorrow. “How do you expect to get all the apples down by the end of the day? And many ponies are gonna be helping?” She took a minute to think about it. “Well mostly with the help of my friends, we managed to get the the apples down lickety split.” She said. That’s a word I’ve never heard before. “How long do you think it took?” I asked, giving her a questioning look. “Are you calling me a liar? ‘cause if you are then you’re wrong, I’m the Element of Honesty for cryin out loud!” She sounded a bit angry, which also scared me a bit. “The Element of what now?” I ask curiously with fear. She gave me the most questioning of looks and then started laughing uncontrollably. “You don’t know about the Elements of Harmony?” she asked as she continued to laugh. “What’s so funny,” I asked, getting irritated. “It’s not you sugarcube, it’s just that I ain’t heard of a pony who don’t know about the Elements.” She stopped her laughing and tried to take control of herself. “So you’ve never heard about the Elements huh, well I don't know much about ‘em but Twilight will probably know. She lives in a library in the middle of town, looks like a big tree that’s impossible to miss. Go see her and ask her to catch you up on what the Elements are. Twilight loves questions.” Well I guess I’m going to the library. Applejack stopped me as I begin to leave. “Hold up, I never did catch your name,” she said. Oh right, why am I so rude. “My name is Thunder Roller.”
A Book in the LibraryView OnlineNew pony in PonyvilleA Book in the LibraryChapter 3 A Book in the Library I made it to the library and was astounded at the big tree in front of me. How somepony could live in there? I asked myself. I walked up to the door and right I as I was about to knock, somepony opened it and I accidentally hit a purple unicorn mare in the face. “Oh my gosh! Are you okay?” I asked the purple mare with concern. “Yes, I’m alright. Why’d you hit me, though?” she asked. I looked at her face just in case she was hurt, and I noticed that she was an Alicorn! I stared at her for a while then she looked to me. “Why are you staring at me like that?” she asked agian. I was too lost in thought to hear her. ‘Is she a princess?’ I thought. ‘Did I hit a princess in the face? Am I gonna be thrown into the Ponyville Jail if they even have one. Wow I feel horri-’ My thoughts were cut short with a whack. “Ow, what was that for.” Whatever hit me got me out of my thought. She looked at me with a big smile on her face. “My name is Princess Twilight Sparkle, sorry that I just hit you in the back of the head with a pan. You were kinda weirding me out with you staring at me. Why were you staring at me anyway? And who are you?” It took a minute for me to understand what she was asking. “I was staring at you because I’ve never seen an alicorn before. I'm really sorry for hitting you in the face, though. And my name is Thunder Roller, Please don't throw me in jail.” She looked at me and began to laugh. Why is she laughing? “Now what kind of welcome would that be to a new pony. And no I'm not going to do that.” she said. Relief filled my body. “So what brings you to Ponyville?” she asked. “Well I had just recently moved here to get away from all of the noise of Cloudsdale.” She nodded her head in agreement. “So what brings you to the library, do you want to check out a certain book?” I was supposed to ask her something Applejack was talking about… Urg I can’t seem to remem- Wait the Elements of Harmony. “Actually, I was going to ask about the Elements of Harmony.” I think I surprised her with that question. “What do you mean? You’ve never heard of the Elements?” Was everypony supposed to know about them? “No I haven’t.” Why won’t she just tell me already? “What do you want to know?” she asked. I didn't know how to actually answer her question. “How much can you tell me?” With that she started explaining the Elements. It was starting to get dark when she was done explaining and I remembered that I had to go meet Vinyl at her house. “Thank you for your time and telling me all you can about the Elements of Harmony.” I said. She smiled at me and said, “Glad I could help.” With that I head to Vinyl’s place. It took about 15 minutes to get from Twilight’s house to Vinyl’s. The light was on and so I knocked. But It wasn’t Vinyl who answered. Instead, it was a gray earth mare with purple eyes and a hairpin note cutie mark. “Who are you?” I asked the mare. “Question is who are you?” she asked back. I thought only Vinyl lived here. “My name is Thunder Roller. Now yours.” She blinked. “My name is Octavia Melody.” Weird, now where have I heard that name before. I thought for a minute and remembered that I once saw her at a symphony. “You look familiar, have we met somewhere?” she asked. Wow she took the words right out of my mouth. “Yeah we meet at a symphony a while back. I think it was in Canterlot during the Grand Galloping Gala.” I said. A smile crept onto her face. “Did you like the performance.” Honestly I didn’t like it, but I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. “Yes, I enjoyed the performance very much.” I’m glad I made somepony happy but I can’t believe I lied to somepony either. “So Vinyl told me to come by the house tonight to make up for shooting me with her bass cannon.” She had a disappointed look on her face. “I told her not to do it.” she said. SANDWICH, I thought suddenly. “Anyway come inside, Vinyl’s working on some new music.” she added. ‘I wonder what music she’s working on,’. I went inside and saw vinyl at a desk with a computer and headphones on. She looked up from her laptop and saw me. “Hey, you made it. Also you left without telling me your name.” she said. ‘Why do I keep forgetting to say my name to everypony?’ I thought. “My name is Thunder Roller. Probably should have told you that when I met you.” I chuckled. “So whatcha working on Vinyl?” I added. She waved me to her laptop and put some headphones over my ears. Then she clicked a button and music began to play. The song started out with soft beats, then a heavy beat dropped which made my entire body shake. When it was over I took off the headphones, and just sat there. Honestly I think I might gone deaf for a minute or two because it looked like when Vinyl was trying to talk to me, all I saw was her lips moving, so I point to my ears and shook my head. It looks like she understood me and left me there. I could tell the sound was coming back when I heard a sneeze in the other room. "Bless you," I yelled. "Thank you," said Octavia. I could hear my stomach growling. I wonder if I'm eating here or at home. Octavia calls for Vinyl and I for dinner. Whatever the food was it smelt good. “Something in here smells good, what is it?” I asked Octavia. “It’s Hay-fries with grilled cheese and daffodil sandwich.” she replied. Mmmm, I thought to myself. We waited for Vinyl to come downstairs. “Whatcha make Tavi.” Vinyl asked. Octavia, obviously not too happy about the nickname, grunted before saying again, “Hay-fries with a grilled cheese and Daffodil sandwich.” “Mmm, sounds good.” Vinyl replied. We ate the amazingly tasty food in peace. After dinner, Vinyl wanted to show me something on her computer. So I go to her room upstairs. I think her room was super soundproof because before I opened the door I heard nothing, Then once it was open, a blast of sound and bass filled the hallway. She turned down the music and gestured me inside. I closed the door so the music could resume quietly. I then look out the window and looked at the view. She also came over to the window. “Beautiful view, isn’t it?” she asked me. I could only nod as I looked out at Ponyville. “Do you like it here in Ponyville,” she added, looking at me. “Great ponies here, even Tavi. Though she does tend to be a little uptight.” At first, I wanted to protest. But then I realized that Vinyl’s probably been a roommate of Octavia’s for a while, while I just came here yesterday. After a moment or two, I realized I was dead tired. So I said my goodbyes to Vinyl and Octavia, thanking them for having me as a guest. I then headed home. As soon as I entered the house, I fell asleep on the floor.
