There wasn’t a speck of civilization for at least a hundred miles. The sun was almost absent from the ground below; dense foliage overhead only allowed small spots of light down onto the dirt and rock.
Deep within the trees stood a statue, long forgotten by any who knew about it. Vines and moss grew onto the rock, but the features of the scenes were still extremely detailed, almost as though time itself couldn’t touch it. Depicted on the rock a battle was raging between a alicorn and a creature. The creature could have been seen as more of a demon than pony, the anger on its face was visible from even a great distance. The alicorn bore an expression of pure strength, his muscles were tenacious and his eyes even looked keen in the stone.
Between the two stood two bright gemstones, one that was a deep violet, almost black in appearance, and the other had a bright gold sheen. The stones almost seemed to permeate into the ground and appeared like veins on where the statue stood, running to the edge of circle. The light and dark energy fought fiercely, the veins trying to prevail over one another, the tension in the air was palpable.
The sound of thunder disrupted the quiet forest, clouds were quickly forming over the dense leaves, rain began to seep through the cracks that once held sunshine. hastily the storm became atramentous and foreboding, lightning began to strike the shrine’s vicinity. One fateful shot from the heavens struck the two gemstones, the sudden and intense heat causing them to shake wildly on their stands.
Both stones began to glow luminously, the lighting redirected itself and arced out towards the surrounding trees. The air quickly became thick with electricity, small flames began to form on the trees and the air surrounding this point of turmoil. The two stones quickly became so vehemently bright that if anypony was to look at them they would surely go blind at the sight. The earth began to shake under the shrine causing the vines and the moss to fall away from the stone. The color in the statue quickly began to change as the lights began to filtrate into each figure. The stone of light into the alicorn and the other into the creature.
Just before it could be believed that a astounding phenomenon was going to strike the land. The tremors suddenly stopped, lightning died down, and the air released its charge. the two figures vanished, and the gemstones were empty, leaving only the stand of the statue and the circle of stone around it left.
For a moment it could be seen, a cloud of darkness slowly retreated into of the forest, and the rays of light jumped high into the sky. The remaining power could still be felt in the stone, calmness rested once again over the forgotten forest, but the battle was only beginning.
