All She Wanted
What She Wanted, and what she got.
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was a peaceful day in Ponyville. The sun was shining, birds were singing, and a cool breeze drifted throughout the town. One bouncy, hyper pink-haired girl was sitting in her bed, listening to the chatter that seemed pointless, but was filled with gossip, nonetheless.
She couldn't help but overhear; her window was open, making an a attempt at cooling her off. Besides, there was nothing else to do.She was sick.
And what a terrible day to be sick, too. Today, her friends were going to a very special Gala. Not the Grand Galloping Gala, but a Gala is a Gala. And Rarity had spent so long on her dress....Oh well. What's done, is done.
"Pinkie?" The shop owner,Mrs. Cake, poked her head through the door.
"Yes?" She spoke in an odd voice, her nose stuffed up.
"Do you need anything?" She smiled kindly. "Tissues? Tylenol? A glass of water?"
"No thanks..." Pinkie replied, her voice scratchy.
"Oh..Okay.." She headed back downstairs.
The hours passed s-l-o-w-l-y.
She sighed and sat up, closing the window.
She really wanted to go to the Gala. Her friends were so disappointed when they learned she was sick. And a bit sad, too, which saddened Pinkie. All she wanted was for her friends to smile. So she sat there, thinking about the Gala, where she wasn't, where her friends were having fun and were together.
And they wouldn't be back for two more days. They-or more specifically,Twilight- had said that they needed to "Er...[they] need to...talk to Princess Celestia! Yeah, that.".
And Pinkie wasn't as dumb as she seemed. She knew something fishy was going on-and not the kind of fish Gummy liked, that was for sure. They had been rather fidgety and nervous, much like when they were throwing a birthday party for her.
This only made her mad, as they knew how she got when she was depressed-having extremely happy emotions tends to make you,ah...overreact.
And so here she was, bored out of her mind, sitting and thinking and humming over the buzz of people downstairs.
Running a temperature of about 101.6 wasn't all that fun. Under the covers? Lava.Out of the covers? Ice.One leg out,one leg in?
Please. Are you really asking that? And so she just wrapped up with a thin cover and fell asleep.
And dreamed about her friends.
'Pinkie...why weren't you there? I wish you..you..' A vaguely familiar voice asked.
"You could have saved us...!" A different voice.A bit angry...As she opened her eyes, she saw her friends.Twilight looked at her,a single tear falling. Rainbow Dash stood beside Twilight,an arm over her shoulder. She looked angry.
"Pinkie...It-it wasn't yo-" This from Fluttershy, who was letting her tears fall rapidly.
"Oh,save it,Fluttershy. We all know who's fault it was..." Rainbow Dash glared at Pinkie.
"W...what did I do?" Pinkie stood there,confused.
"You know what you did..."
"DASH." Applejack kinda yelled.
"Sorry.." Dashie smiled sheepishly.
"Now,sugarcube,do you know what happened....?" Applejack looked at her with sympathy. But as Pinkie opened her mouth, the dream faded into dark. Her friends were dead. She could tell. They stared, lifeless,at her.
Their eyes held no light.
They weren't breathing.
They were on tables. They were cut open, though she saw no blood, no organs, nothing other than skin and bones.
But,the thing that really saddened Pinkie...was that they weren't smiling.
"Pinkie..Pinkie!"
And then she woke up to Mrs. Cake shaking her.
"What's wrong? I came to check up on you, and..Well, it seemed like you were having a bad dream."
"Oh..just a nightmare..." Pinkie replied.Mrs Cake looked at her, almost as if she was sorry.
"Okay..listen.I have some bad news." Mrs Cake said nervously."You knew how your friends left for Canterlot on the train today?"
"Yeah...?And?" Pinkie looked at her
"Well...the train...crashed..." She looked downwards. "And killed everybody." Pinkie's eyes widened.
"But....but isn't it impossible for Twilight to die?" Pinkie clung the the last ray of hope that one of her friends might survive. Mrs Cake shook her head.
"Of natural causes? Yes.But... 'incidents', let's call it..No." Pinkie just looked at...nothing.Her eyes were glazed over, like she was in a trance.
"But...No..it can't be..they can't die...They can't...I'm still dreaming...still dreaming...it's just a dream...dream." She muttered to herself. Mrs Cake walked out, gently shutting the door.Right as it closed, she said something.
"The funeral is tomorrow..."
-THE FUNERAL-
She was still sick. She didn't care. This was more important than some cold-these were her friends.Were. She had to keep reminding herself.
It was so special.Even Princess Celestia and Luna were there.
'Well, we did lose a princess...And almost all of the Elements of Harmony..' Pinkie thought to herself.
"They were very special to all of Equestria.." Princess Luna said, giving the speech.
"'Special', my foot...they were more than that.." Pinkie muttered. Her dress was black, her shoes a dull, dull pink.Even her hair was depressed....it was straight, and didn't seem as bright as usual.
"Sadly,I fear Equestria might not survive for long...with almost no Elements left,we have no power. We don't know what evil is about to come....and we cannot defend ourselves." Luna continued, few tears falling from her eyes.
The speech went on for about 10 minutes. She drowned out the words. No one could express how she felt in mere words. Besides, she wanted to think about the tragedy as little as possible.
She stood there, watching, waiting, the summer heat on her head, lulling her to sleep.
