The Murder of Pinkamena Pie
Cold days and rainy nights
Dark times were upon the Kingdom of Equestria. Sickness, thievery, murder, politicians fighting over who gets what and what goes where. But none of this mattered to Twilight Sparkle, she had her close friends, and they'd be together forever, or so she thought. The murder of Pinkemena Pie hit the small town of Ponyville hard. No politician batted an eye, or bothered to fund her funeral, so by the time they had her funeral, it was closed casket. For no one wants to see what was once their friend, now a rotten being of flesh, and rot.
There were no smiles since then. Sure a stallion would go home, smile at his kids, ask about their day at school, but beneath that smile, is fear. For the murders are not yet over. A shadow of fear still lurks over the small town, and only one pony gives two shits to stop it, Investigator Twilight Sparkle. After the death of her friend, her group started breaking apart. Hell, before her death, Pinkie was always going to The Hammered Mare, the newest bar in town. It's no surprise things went to shit afterwards. For what is a friendship without laughter? Applejack never leaves the farm anymore, unless she's selling produce. Rarity moved to Manehattan, and is currently selling dresses for the snobs, and the greedy politicians who turned this town into the shell that it is. Fluttershy stays with her animals, and regularly visits the town therapist for counseling. Pinkie's death was hard on her, poor thing had never seen anything so cruel. Rainbow tried her best to keep the group together, but it was all for naught. She joined up with the Wonderbolts, and no one in Ponyville has heard from her since. That leaves us with Twilight Sparkle. She sold the library, and moved into a motel further in town. She now works as a private investigator, finding out who's cheating on who, who stole what, but her main goal, she's going to find. Pinkie's killer, and bring them to justice.
Why is Equestria in such a sad state? That's easy, the Princess Twilight once admired, sold the Crystal Empire to the Griffins. The Crystal Empire had become a huge form of profit, so much that we focused only on selling crystals to the surrounding empires. Once we lost that profit, the economy went to shit. We sell foodstuffs, and Crystal Empire slaves to the changelings and griffons. It's depressing what desperation will make somepony do. There were mass riots in the big cities at the beginning, though they've settled down now, Applebloom's cousin Babs Seed was killed after a unicorn set her house on fire.
After Celestia began her dictatorship over Equestria, Luna has been hiding here in Ponyville. She tried to kill her own sister. Now people just drag ass about town all day, there hasn't been a sunny day in years, four in fact, since that day, the day Princess Celestia declared herself High Queen ruling over Equestria. Nowadays the days are cold, and it rains through the night.
Knock knock.
"Come in."
"Hello, Twilight. I-"
"Cut the shit Radiance, exactly what do you want, and why is it worth my time?"
"Uh- ahem, I need to know if Sun Flare has been... How do you say, sleeping around?"
Twilight gave her a stern look, but Radiance only smiled nervously and looked away.
"I'll see to it, how will you be paying?"
"I have ten bits on me, and I'll give twenty after the job's done."
"Consider it done."
Twilight went back to reading the newspaper. The bullshit people came to her with nowadays. Is Sun Flare cheating? The fact Radiance had to ask her told Twilight enough.
It was dark and raining, perfect weather for a stakeout. Twilight had followed Sun Flare to the local bar "The Hammered Mare". She'd been in the booth opposite him for two hours listening in on his conversations, trying to get whatever kind of evidence she could. So far he'd made small talk with three different mares, but hadn't made any moves. He got up and left. From what Radiance said, he's a regular at this place.
Twilight walked over to the barkeep, preparing to question him.
"Stiff Ale, how are you?"
"Stuff it Twi, what the hay you want?" He responded rather vehemently.
"You know damn well what I want, Sun Flare, he a regular here?"
"Don't rightly know, I'm usually here in the afternoons, nopony's here around that time."
While he was speaking he was sweating, tugging at his tie, and looking around. Twilight took note of this and responded accordingly.
"Bullshit Ale, you're here every night, and so is he, and you know it, now you damn well better tell me, or I'll have the sheriff in here in a heartbeat, don't think I don't know about that lunashine you keep in the back."
"Alright, alright you got me. He's a regular here, been hanging with this mare, Roseluck. Says he's never been happier."
"Thanks for your cooperation Ale, I'll take my leave."
"Yeah, fuck you too Twi."
The next day Twilight decided go shopping for flowers, Hearts and Hooves Day is on the way. She entered the shop and looked around, instantly spotting Roseluck. She moved to the aisle next to her and overheard her talking with Derpy.
"Derpy, he just makes me feel so... Alive! I didn't think love was possible anymore, with how cold the world's gone."
She sounds like a flower basking in sunlight, forgetting that she needs water to survive, Twilight thought to herself.
"So Rose, who's this new guy?" Twilight intervened.
"Oh, just a guy I met at the bar." Rose was visibly sweating and Derpy looked nervous aswell.
"Which bar?" Twilight asked quickly.
Rose tries to think but Twilight asks again.
"Come on, which bar?"
"Why?"
"I've been single for too long, and sounds like I might find Mr. Right at this bar of yours."
"Oh, okay. It was The Hammered Mare."
"You didn't answer my original question."
"What was that?" Rose asks
"Now what the hay are you doing interrogating poor rose here? I'm trying to get some flowers for my little girl, so if you would please."
Twilight harrumf'd and left quietly, that's fine with her, she got what she needed.
Twilight headed to Rose's mom's home for dinner, she had asked her to come over when she helped her husband find out who stole their garden hoe.
"Hello Roseanne, how have you been?" Twilight asked.
"Oh just wonderful Twi, I've been looking forward to this dinner ever since you helped Clover get his garden hoe back."
"Oh, it's no problem, I did it because I wanted to." Twilight said.
"Pie?" Roseanne offered.
"Yes please." Twilight graciously accepted the apple pie, and sat down at the dinner table.
"So I've heard Rose found a stallion, have you heard anything about him?"
"Oh, yes I have, he's that nice colt Sun Flare who's always helping us with the garden, what a nice young stallion."
"He sounds very nice, maybe I'll be as lucky as her one day." Twilight said
"Oh precious, you're smart, independent, and beautiful, what stallion wouldn't want you?"
"Thank you, Mrs. Roseanne, I'm afraid it's time for me to get home, you have a good night."
"Oh, you too Twi!" Roseanne said.
Twilight heads to Sun Flare's home, ready to deliver the news to Radiance, when she notices somepony bust in the door. Twilight hurries in and closes the door behind her. She inches her way through the home, taking special care not to step on anything or make too much noise. As she enters the kitchen she sees Radiance and Roseluck, on the ground, dead. She goes over to check their pulses, but feels nothing but coldness. She starts to panic, what if the killer's still here? No, she needs to get out of here.
She moves through and finds a guest bedroom, she opens the door and flinches as it creaks loudly. As she looks through she sees pictures of Roseluck, and... Pinkie Pie. Twilight develops a cold sweat, she has to get out of here and tell the sheriff!
Creaaaak.
She hears the sound of hoofsteps on wooden planks. What can she do? She can't run out, that'll be too loud, and teleporting will drain her energy. After thinking about it, she decides it would be smartest to teleport to the sheriff's.
Creeak.
The hoofsteps come closer. She focuses all her energy into this teleportation spell.
CREEAAAAKK.
She's getting closer, so close she can almost feel i-
The door opens.
And Twilight appears in Sherrif Cold Badge's office.
"Sherrif! Roseluck and Radiance have been murdered! It was Sun Flare we have to get him!"
The sheriff runs over.
"Gather five men, and head to Sun Flare's home, Twilight you stay here."
"Bu-."
"No buts, come on stallions! Let's move out!"
An hour and a half later, the sheriff returns with Sun Flare, and places him in an interrogation room.
"One of our detectives will be questioning him, now what do you know?"
"I know he had been meeting up with Roseluck at the bar regularly, and was friendly with Rose's family. Radiance asked me to find out whether he was cheating or not, and he was. Now they're both dead, but it's not only that. I think he's responsible for Pinkie's death."
"And why's that?" The Sheriff asked.
"There's pictures of Pinkie in his home, and shortly before she died, Pinkie was a regular at The Hammered Mare."
