We were waiting for the train to arrive, it would be here any minute. You know, it funny how we can measure time in this day and age. I mean, time itself goes on and on and on, and somepony just decided that it can be measure. Who came up with the second, the minute and that good jazz anyway?
"Pinkie." a voice said.
I looked over at source, a grey mare with a purple mane and tail wearing a dull blue frock. I don't know if you saw it, but her cutie mark is diamond shaped rock. In this universe, she got it after she discovered the flavor rocks, the special kind of rock Maud found to make rock candy that I mentioned earlier. It's really funny, the flavor rocks taste like different kinds of foods, despite being made of well, rock. What's more, you could eat them, there are soft enough to chew. Wait, Maud wanted something, I should respond. "Yes Maud."
"I'm sorry your friends and I didn't hit it off."
That's it! That's all she had say! I get my hopes up only for them to be crushed by my friends and her and THAT'S ALL SHE HAS TO SAY!!!! I don't know if you can tell, but I'm pretty angry right now.
"You should be. All I wanted was for you and my best friends to be best friends and YOU didn't even try. They tried, I tried, and ALL YOU DID WAS GIVE THEM THE GOTH ROUTINE!" I shouted in her face.
I was close to going flat maned again. Yet despite this, Maud remained stoic face. Just then, the train whistle blew and the Friendship express pulled into the station. We got on, took our seats, and I continued.
"I mean, I know you and can read your body language, but even you know most ponies can't. You could have at least smiled once." I huffed.
Maud just gave me her usual poker face. "Pinkie, I did try. I tried my hardest to befriend your friends, but the truth is, someponies just don't click."
If there was one thing that still true to this day, it's that Maud would never lie to me. "I'm sorry I got angry. It's just that I was so looking forward to all of us exchanging rock candy necklaces with each other. I guess I got so excited about it that I didn't pay attention to how well you were getting along with my friends."
Maud sighed. "Oh Pinkie, I told you before you left to pay attention to your surroundings. Living in your own little world can cause you problems. You wouldn't have gotten into that life threatening situation if you had been thinking."
I sighed. "What happened Maud? How come my friends can't be your friends?"
"You happened Pinkie. You pressured me and your friends into bonding for your own self desires. Friendships can't be forced, that only leads to awkward moments between ponies. But it was also pretty clear that my detached and nonchalant personality and the way I express myself was getting in the way. I just don't fit in in a group like you and your friends."
"I guess I should have thought of that. That's what I get for not thinking." I replied sadly and turned to look out the window.
I thought about the time my family came to Ponyville looking for help with the rock farm about a few weeks after Twilight's corination. Poor Maud had to stay at home and take care if it while the rest of them came here. Maybe if the whole family was there, everypony would have had an easier time making friends. We were both silence for five minutes until Maud spoke up again.
"Thank you for coming with me. I don't know how long I'll be gone on my rock research trip. I'm glad I still get to spend some time with you before I go." Maud said after a while.
"Me too. I'm sorry I put so much pressure on everypony to bond. I only wanted my friends to get to know my amazing older sister." I replied and hugged Maud sadly.
"Me, amazing? Oh Pinkie, there's nothing special about little old me."
"Don't be so modest Maud. Of course there is. You discovered an edible rock. And what about when you saved me from that boulder that could have crushed me, that was pretty awesome. I mean, you turned it into powder with your bare hooves! You even put up with me, and that's saying something."
Maud smiled a rare smile and stroked my mane. "Well, you are amazing in your own way too Pinkie."
"Yeah, I know."
You know, I'm reminded of the first time I met Cranky Doodle Donkey. Some say that it had a good set up to learn that not every pony can be your friend. I've learned over the years that this, in a way, is true. Gilda didn't deserve my friendship. She made Fluttershy cry. Or what about Suri Polomare? Let's be honest, she was a real meanie to Rarity. What I'm trying to say is, there will be people out there that aren't deserving of your friendship, and you can't be friends with everypony or everyone. But what about people who aren't like them? Sure, you might not immediately get close to some people, but surely you can find some common ground with them. Sure, you won't be the best of friends, but better to have them as a friend at all than to make no effort to get to know them. Or you could agree to just respect and act friendly towards each other, I'm pretty sure that's going to be the case with Maud and my friends. I guess the situation is different for everyone. I have to remember to put that in the journal.
At last the train pulled into the small station just past our farm. After we got off, the train continued on it's way to Canterlot.
"When was the last time you saw mom, dad, Marble and Limestone?" Maud asked as we walked.
"A few weeks ago. I was visiting to ask if they had the family records."
Maud nodded and we continued. When we arrived at the rock farm, Maud stopped me and pointed. My friends where already there. This made sense to me, after all Twilight had seen my families rock farm in that flash back Trixie brought up when she returned with the alicorn amulet. She had simple teleported them and herself here.
"What are you doing here?" I asked them.
