The passing of Big Macintosh's younger sister, Applejack, really torments him after her funeral. But what really effects him after the funeral is his sisters last words written down on a piece of paper that she wrote herself after trying to be fixed up at Ponyville hospital, but sadly couldn't because the injuries were to brutal for her to survive. She spent her final minutes saying her goodbyes.
