1: A forbidden spell

Twilight Sparkle thought this was going to be a normal day. Read books, study, hang out with her friends; boy was she wrong! She was there, in the Canterlot Archives; looking through the Starswirl the Bearded wing.

“I haven’t even learned most of the spells Starswirl created!” Twilight said to herself as she looked through the countless scrolls, “I wouldn’t be surprised if he created a spell to break reality!”

She was right. As the purple alicorn was examining each spell scroll carefully, top to bottom and word by word, that’s when she found it. She smiled as she looked at it. It seemed to be a spell that could send the caster into another universe. Twilight smiled. This spell had certainly sparked her interest.

The mare asked herself, “How and why would Starswirl the Bearded create a spell like this?”

Twilight kept pondering on that thought as she went to ask Princess Celestia if she could borrow the spell.

“Princess Celestia!?” Twilight shouted, looking for her old mentor.

“Princess!?” She shouted again, yet there was no sign of her anywhere.

Twilight was anxious. “What if something happened to the Princess?”  She thought.

“Relax Twilight!” Twilight thought, “Nothing happened to Princess Celestia! But what if she was sent to the moon!? Or turned to stone!? OR BRAINWASHED AND KIDNAPPED AND IS BEING USED TO TAKE OVER EQUESTRIA!!!!!!!????"

Twilight breathed heavily, “Everything is going to be fine.” The purple alicorn whispered to herself, “You’re just assuming the worst.”

“Twilight, I swore I heard you here.” A voice said.

“Princess!” Twilight shouted, delighted to see her mentor.

“Are you here to borrow from the archives?” The sun princess asked, “You did tell me you were going there earlier!”

“Well duh! I found this amazing spell in the Starswirl the Bearded wing! I think it will take a while of studying, and I would like to borrow the scroll so I can learn, and maybe cast it!” Twilight replied, showing Princess Celestia the spell.

Celestia examined the spell. She was shocked at what she saw. She remembered Starswirl’s ascension to madness, his downfall! She and Luna had destroyed every scroll and spellbook that had forbidden spells written on them. Spells like the one Twilight had found.

“Are you sure you want to learn that spell, Twilight? There are others that are err…. Safer!”

“Nope! I really want to learn this one! Besides, what could POSSIBLY go wrong?”

“Twilight, that spell isn’t safe!”

“Celestia! It looks fine!”

“Okay,” Celestia said, “But don’t blame me if anything bad happens to you!”

“Thanks!” Twilight said excitedly and left her old mentor in the castle hallway.

Celestia worried about Twilight. The princess had remembered what happened to the last pony to use the spell. She shouldn’t have let her young student learn the spell. How could she be so foolish! Now Twilight was going to erase herself out of existence.

Twilight yawned as she read the last words of her spell. She had never seen a spell so complicated. It was going to be a difficult spell, but she was up for the challenge. It was late, and the newly crowned princess was tired. She decided to cast the spell tomorrow as she lay down, and closed her eyes.

Twilight dreamed she was in a dark room shrouded in mist. She couldn’t see her hoof in from of her face, and she couldn’t even hear the sound of her own breathing. It seemed as if there was absolutely nothing else here.

Absolutely…

Nothing…

Else…

A voice called to her in the distance. Chills crawled down Twilight’s spine. She suddenly heard hoofsteps in the distance coming closer, closer, closer! She has breathing heavily, heart up to her throat; she tried her best to stop breathing so heavily, for fear that the monster out there would find, and most likely, kill her. Twilight saw the silhouette of a strange creature in front of her; a strange dragon-like creature. Twilight turned to run, only to trip and fall, as the creature attacked her, all Twilight could see of the creature, were its beaming, red eyes, and its monstrous laugh. Twilight had one last vision before she woke up, all she saw was her cold body, with cuts, scars, and bruises everywhere, some even deep to the bone, her heart ripped out, and her eyes open. She couldn’t believe what she had seen. Twilight Sparkle had just witnessed her own death.

Twilight screamed as she leaped from the bed!

“What is that matter with you, Twilight!” A familiar voice said, “I want to get some sleep!”

“Spike! I just had the worst dream!” Twilight shouted, “I witnessed MY OWN death!”

“Really?’ Spike said, “You’ve been having these nightmares a lot lately, I think you need to get some therapy!”

“I think it means something. First it was my future if Rainbow dash had failed her sonic rainboom, then it was me and my friend’s futures if Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis, or Sombra won, and now my own death!? This is crazy!” Twilight argued back.

“Didn’t you say something about a spell you were going to cast or something?”

“Right! Well, now that I think of it, it may not be such a good idea after all.” Twilight said, thinking it was for the best.

“pfft! Yeah right Twilight! You’re a drama queen!”

“Okay! Fine Spike! I’ll cast the spell!”

Twilight got into position, and started to concentrate on her spell. Her eyes glowed white as her own magic engulfed her. Twilight started floating on her own, and lost control her magic.  Spike looked up at Twilight as she struggled to regain her will. The light the spell was emitting blinded her, she felt a sharp pain on her back, specifically where her wings were, as if somepony was ripping them off. The alicorn couldn’t control it, and she screamed. All she could do, was scream. Twilight disapeared, and there was nothing left but a smudge. She was gone. Twilight Sparkle had been erased from the timeline.
