This was not the case with Norm Wig and Ester Anderson. The two were inseparable; So much so that they were hired to work together. Norm was an ordinary quantum physicist, wail his partner was a world renowned micro biologist. Norm strived to get out of the shadow of his girlfriends shadow. Little did Norm know he would get his shot at fame, just not in the way he expected. Norm sat in his cubical haveing a normal afternoon. He looked extremely focus on his work, but in reality he was playing counter strike with his colleague across from him. "Al!" He froze hearing his boss behind him. "Ye- Yes sir?" Norm said meekly. "The Johnson report was due last Thursday!" His boss reminded him. Norm sorted his papers trying to find any notes on the fabled Johnson report. "You have tell tomorrow!" His boss hissed as he walked back to his office. "Schafer is still ridding you for that report?" Norms friend asked. "Ya I'm staying late again I guess." Norm responded. "You're wasting your life here kid." Norms heard from a neighboring cubical. This had not been the first time Norm had heard this phrase. In fact that's the first words his boss said to him. (Near midnight) Norm was asleep on a pile of important documents when a faint noise rang out. It sounded like someone was making popcorn, until Norm remembered the micro wave was broken three nights before when a intern microwaved a live cat. Norm looked up and saw everyone in the office was gone, and all the clocks were on twelve. "I'm I on tv?" Norm nervously questioned the empty room to no avail. The popping grew louder, Norm realized it was emitting from the sever and prototype locker room. Like any scientist Norm saw that years of research could be lost in the event of a electrical fire. He ran over to the fire extinguisher and lugged it to the sever room. When Norm kicked open the door he saw no apparent flames, but still sparks flew from the air near the severs. Norm lifted the fire extinguisher up on his shoulder and prepared to fire, but a blinding bright light knocked him off his feet. *whats going on!* Norm screamed in his head. Suddenly the ground vanished from underneath his feet and Norm was left free falling. "Holy fucking tits!" He exclaimed. Norm tried to balance like the sky divers he saw on tv, unfortunately this made his situation worse. Time seamed to freeze, Norm saw his read tie slowly lose its grip on his collar and drift into the air. Multiple server boxes fell along side him reassuring him he was not alone. For a moment Norm was satisfied with his conclusion, a barely visible smile emerged. Norm was jolted out of his trance by a sudden change of motion. He looked down to see two light blue hooves raped around him. Norm slowly turned to see a Pegasus who possessed a rainbow colored mane. "What!" Norm yelled at the top of his lungs. The Pegasus retracted its arms and let out a horrified scream. Norms decent escalated quicker than his expedition, in a blink of a eye he was laying on the forest floor. "I'm, dead." Norm didn't try to sit up. He sat there and waited for a angel to descend from the sky, but no such glory came. She rubbed her bloodshot eyes. "Rainbow Dash it's seven in the morning." She muttered. Rainbow dash was on the brink of fainting. "Twilight! I saw something falling over the Everfree, and it was some sort of hairless ape!" Rainbow Dash said fearfully. "Well, where is it!?" Twilight asked. "Twilight, it- it talked!" Rainbow Dash added the most important detail. Twilights eyes shot open and she ran to grab her notebook. "What did it say!?" Twilight asked with pencil retry. "Well, when it talked. I got, scared and dropped it." Rainbow Dash said holding her head down. "You what!" Norm wandered the infinite forest for hours. He dragged the oversized fire extinguisher behind him. He had drawn his own conclusion. He believed that something malfunctioned in the sever room, maybe one of the prototype superconductors mentioned around water cooler. Whatever it was must have opened a temporary worm hole to another dimension populated by pegasus . The trees were some type of red wood, over one hundred feet tall. Norm stopped dead in his tracks when he heard a silent crushing of dry leafs. Something was coming, slowly almost consciously. Norm lifted the fire extinguisher quietly preparing to run if the situation called for it. He looked around the dense forest seeing no movement. Norm started to continue walking still nerveless looking around. The footsteps started again behind him, Norm was sure he was being flowed. He turned to see nobody was behind him once more. He suddenly sprinted further in the forest. Twilight leaned from her cover behind a tree. "Rarity it's heading your way." She whispered into a small radio. Norm ran past countless trees and hills. Still he cradled the metallic cylinder in his arms. He turned his head to make sure he lost his pursuers. He gasped tripping over a stone and ripping his sleeve on a branch. Norm looked up and saw a pail colored unicorn facing the posit it direction. *it wouldn't hurt to ask for directions* he thought. "Excursus me?" The unicorn turned and looked dumbstruck at him. She had a beautiful mane with a horn extended out of it. Her horn started to glow with a blue Ora. "It's not every day I ask a unicorn for directions. Um, are you-" Norm was blasted back into a tree and fell to the ground unconscious and bleeding. Rarity picked up her radio. "Twilight, it- it tried to attack me! But I stunned it!" She heard faint static. Twilight approached Rarity and looked at Norm. " Rarity you were so post to talk to it, not kill it!" Twilight said trying to find a pulse. "It tried to attack me!" Rarity responded. "It's still alive, we need to get him back to my library." Norm had his head buried in pillows and was sound asleep. He imagined that he would wake up in his apartment and be greeted by Ester, who would be making breakfast. But then Norm realized that he didn't own a green bed cover. The events of the previous day weren't just a dream, he wasn't in his dimension. Norm looked down and saw his shirt had been unbuttoned reveling a large burn in the shape of a perfect circle. *god dam unicorns* He thought siting up. Norm was confided to a small attic room. He saw that the windows were bored up from the outside. Next he tried to open the door witch was bolted from the from side. Norm walked to the far side of the room for a running start. He rammed himself into the door. The rusted hinges snapped and the door nearly shattered. Nobody came to restrain Norm, witch was odd to him. He walked down the old stares and found a room with laminated tables that bared a laptop, two sever boxes, and Norms red tie. "So you're up?" A feminine voice asked from behind Norm. Norm didn't turn around until he finish tying his tie. "You know you could of just said hello!" Norm said turning around. Twilight sat in a chair in the corner of the room taking notes on her clip board. "Can you understand me?" She said slowly. "Why wouldn't I?" Twilight sat in the darkness. Norm heard a drip, he looked down and saw a small drop off blood. He reached up held he nose. "Sorry mama, can I get some towels?" Norm said in a nerdy voice. "Oh, of course!" Twilight jumped up and ran down stares. Norm knew that this was no ordinary bloody noses. He knew the theory of cross dimensional jumping had untold repricutions. Twilight galloped into the room and handed Norm a towel. "Thanks, unicorn." Norm said unsure how she would respond. "Twilight Sparkle." She held her hoof out and Norm shook it. "Norm, Norm Al." He said. " Your name is Normal?" Twilight questioned. "Ya why wouldn't it be?" He chuckled, this being the hundredth time telling that joke. "You're not from around here, are you?" Twilight asked. "Its complicated, quantum physics and such." Norm said holding his head up. " Your a scientist?!" Twilight said half disbelief and half joy. " physicist and biologist, and neurologist. So ya." Twilight yelped in joy. She dreamed of the day another scholar would visit Pony Vill. Her eyes examined Norm. From his light brown hair to his unbuttoned shirt. Twilight froze when she saw the huge scare on Norms chest. " I am so sorry, I told Rarity to stun you." She put a hoof over her mouth. " Oh that? It's nothing." Norm said trying to be tuff. "Now if you excuse me, I need to work on getting back to my universe." Norm opened the laptop and started entering passwords. "How did you get here?" Twilight said over his shoulder. " A prototype must of malfunctioned, it opened a titan wormhole connecting our universes." Norm said as he was focused on finding the prototype locker numbers. The door creaked open and Rainbow Dash entered. "Hello?" She said walking over to twilight and Norm. "Norm this is Rainbow Dash, Rainbow Dash this Is Norm." Twilight said smiling. " It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance Miss Dash." Rainbow Dash was shocked that this creature could make such a complicated sentence structure. " Hi, Norm." Norm found the code he needed. "Twilight do you have a pen?" He asked. She handed him a pen. Norm wrote on his sleeve 090-Austin. This code was repeated five times in the index, this meant there are five lockers that could contain the prototype that opened the portal. "Twilight I need your help to find five identical lockers." Norm said. " What's in them" she asked. " It's ether nothing, or everything."Norm said siting up. " That's vega." Rainbow Dash said. Norms eyes ran thought code. "Why should we help you anyway?!" Rainbow dash questioned. Norm manufactured a false leverage story in his mind. "Miss Dash, your concern is justified, but if you do not comply I will need to take measures." Norm said calmly. "What measures?" She said with a chuckle. Norm pressed the enter key and turned to her with a smile. "If we do not find the device your planet will be destroyed by a wormhole in five weeks. I recommend we hurry." Both ponies were awestricken. (One day later) Twilight trotted up the stares to her attic. Norm sat in a chair leaning on the table asleep. "Norm." Twilight said half asleep. Norm jumped up and straitened his tie. "Do you have leads?" He said wiping drool off his sleeve. "We found one." She said smiling. Rainbow Dash walked in dragging a large locker with scares across the back. "Hay careful." Norm said running over. He saw the lock was intact. There was a USB input port under the handle. Norm reached into his pocket and pulled out a key ring. He shuffled through the keys tell he found the USB. Norm shoved the USB in and grabbed the handle. Norm opened the locker and froze. "Mother of god."
